BACKGROUND Cetuximab in combination with oral fluoropyrimidine(FP)remains controversial in metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC).in view of the regional variation in the tolerability of FP,we conducted a retrospective analysis to compare oral FP with infusional FP in combination with cetuximab in Chinese *** To compare the efficacy and safety profile of cetuximab in combination with oral FP and infusional FP in Chinese population in the real-world *** A retrospective cohort study was done to analyse consecutive patients with Kras wild-type mCRC who received first-line treatment with cetuximab and FP-based chemotherapy in our unit from January 2010 to December ***-five eligible patients were *** median follow-up of our cohort was 65.0 *** The median progression-free survival(mPFS)and median overall survival(mOS)of the entire cohort were 9.66 mo(95%Ci:7.72–12.5)and 25.8 mo(95%Ci:18.7–35.6),*** oral FP and infusional FP,there was no statistical significant difference in the mPFS[9.79 mo(95%Ci:7.49–12.7)vs 9.63 mo(95%Ci:6.34–13.4);P=0.72]and mOS[25.8 mo(95%Ci:15.2–35.6)vs 26.3 mo(95%Ci:18.7–41.2);P=0.63].Grade 3 or above adverse events were reported in 28.4%of patients,being similar with oral and infusional FP,and included 10.5%of neutropenia and 2.1%of diarrhoea *** The current analysis demonstrates comparable efficacy and safety profiles of cetuximab in combination with oral and infusional FP in Chinese *** results expand treatment options for Chinese patients and invite revision of existing treatment guidelines to incorporate oral FP-based chemotherapy plus cetuximab.

Male Advertisement Call of the Endangered Leptobrachella tengchongensis(Anura: Megophryidae) from Mount Gaoligongshan, Yunnan Province, China

We present the first description of the acoustic characters of the endangered Tengchong leaf litter toad(Leptobrachella tengchongensis), aiming to inform future ecological studies of the species and taxonomic studies in the genus Leptobrachella. A total of 1179 calls, belonging to 6 adults male individuals, were recorded using TASCAM DR-40 digital sound recorder from its type locality in May 2015 and then analyzed using Raven Pro v.1.6.1 software. The advertisement call of male L. tengchongensis consists of primary advertisement call and secondary advertisement call. The primary advertisement call is invariably composed of two notes and has a call duration of 61 ± 5 ms(23–87 ms, n = 1142). The secondary advertisement call is composed of 3–10 notes(mean 5.25 ± 1.41 notes/call, n = 37) with a call duration of 90 ± 6 ms(37–127 ms, n = 37). The mean inter-call interval is 212 ± 121 ms(88–1121 ms, n = 1092). An introductory note is absent in advertisement calls and the dominant of calls is 4.1–4.8 kHz(at 20 ℃). We discuss the interspecific and intraspecific variations on advertisement calls in L. tengchongensis and among Leptobrachella species, and provide a summary on the major acoustic characters of all Leptobrachella species occurring north of the isthmus of Kra.

Sea Nine 211 as antifouling biocide: A coastal pollutant of emerging concern

Sea Nine 211, with 4,5-dichloro-2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one（DCOiT） being the biocidal ingredient, is a widely-used antifouling agent to deter the undesirable biofouling phenomenon. it is commercially promoted as an environmentally acceptable antifoulant mainly due to its claimed rapid degradation in marine environment. However, increasing researches document varying degradative kinetics in different environments, proving that Sea Nine 211 is actually not degraded equally fast around the world（half-life between〈 1 day and 13.1 days）. Large-scale application of Sea Nine 211 in antifouling coatings has also caused global contamination of marine environment in various compartments. For example, accumulation of Sea Nine 211 is detected as high as 3700 ng/L in Spanish seawater and 281 ng/g dry weight in Korean sediment. Considering that Sea Nine 211 is highly toxic against non-target marine organisms, environmental risk assessment finds that most marine organisms are endangered by Sea Nine 211 in worst-case scenario. its endocrine disrupting and reproductive impairing effects at environmentally worst-case concentrations further constitute a long-term threat to the maintenance of population ***, in the light of the varying degradability, environmental pollution and high toxicity, especially the endocrine disruption, Sea Nine 211 as an antifouling agent is likely to cause non-negligible damages to the marine ecosystem. There is an urgency to perform a systematic ecological risk assessment of Sea Nine 211 to prevent the potential impacts on the health of marine environment. A regular monitoring also becomes necessary to place the usage of antifouling biocides under control.

Non-conventional modeling of extreme significant wave height through random sets

The analysis and design of offshore structures necessitates the consideration of wave loads. Realistic modeling of wave loads is particularly important to ensure reliable performance of these structures. Among the available methods for the modeling of the extreme significant wave height on a statistical basis, the peak over threshold method has attracted most attention. This method employs Poisson process to character- ize time-varying properties in the parameters of an extreme value distribution. in this paper, the peak over threshold method is reviewed and extended to account for subjectivity in the modeling. The freedom in selecting the threshold and the time span to separate extremes from the original time series data is incorpo- rated as imprecision in the model. This leads to an extension from random variables to random sets in the probabilistic model for the extreme significant wave height. The extended model is also applied to different periods of the sampled data to evaluate the significance of the climatic conditions on the uncertainties of the parameters.

Potential of a COX-2 inhibitor in lowering chemotherapy-induced neutropenia

Objective This study was initially designed to evaluate the effect of celecoxib on the regimen of 5-fluorouracil,epirubicin,and cyclophosphamide(FEC)combination,followed by docetaxel(T)in neoadjuvant *** unplanned preliminary review on safety was conducted after a halt of the study due to the concerned potential cardiovascular risk of using COX-2 *** We studied 23 consecutive cases of operable breast cancer having received four cycles of FEC(500 mg/m2,100 mg/m2,500 mg/m2)followed by four cycles of T(100 mg/m2)with concurrent celecoxib(400 mg twice daily)(group A)or same chemotherapy regimen but without concurrent celecoxib(group B).These combined chemotherapies were administered every 3 *** Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test were used to assess the difference in incidence of limiting hematological toxicites between *** 23 patients(group A:n=12;group B,n=11)received a total of 183 out of 184 planned treatment cycles;one(4%,1/23)of them omitted the fourth cycle of FEC owing to repeated incidences of febrile *** dose intensity(RDi)for FEC in group A(90%±11%)was higher than that in group B(80%±8%)while RDi for T was similar between group A(93%±8%)and group B(96%±9%).Of the first 91 treatment cycles of FEC,limiting hematological toxicity,severe neutropenia including febrile neutropenia,was significantly different between group A and B [(10.4%,5/48)vs.(32.6%,14/43),P=0.009].Other toxicities commonly observed in chemotherapy receiving patients were *** Neoadjuvant use of FEC followed by T with concurrent celecoxib appeared to be safe for treatment of operable invasive breast *** observed lower incidence of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia is possibly contributed by the administration of *** believe that further investigation might provide more evidence on the use of COX-2 inhibitors in breast cancer.

Salt Tolerance in Soybean

Soybean is an important cash crop and its productivity is significantly hampered by salt stress. High salt imposes negative impacts on growth, nodulation, agronomy traits, seed quality and quantity, and thus reduces the yield of soybean. To cope with salt stress, soybean has developed several tolerance mechanisms, including：（i） maintenance of ion homeostasis; （ii） adjustment in response to osmotic stress; （iii） restoration of osmotic balance; and （iv） other metabolic and structural adaptations. The regulatory network for abiotic stress responses in higher plants has been studied extensively in model plants such as Arabidopsis thaliana. Some homologous components involved in salt stress responses have been identified in soybean. in this review, we tried to integrate the relevant works on soybean and proposes a working model to describe its salt stress responses at the molecular level.

Recommender systems are similar to an informationfiltering system that helps identify items that best satisfy the users’demands based on their pre-ference ***-aware recommender systems(CARSs)and multi-criteria recommender systems(MCRSs)are extensions of traditional recommender *** have integrated additional contextual information such as time,place,and so on for providing better ***,the majority of CARSs use ratings as a unique criterion for building ***,MCRSs utilize user preferences in multiple criteria to better generate *** to now,how to exploit context in MCRSs is still an open *** paper proposes a novel approach,which relies on deep learning for context-aware multi-criteria recommender *** apply deep neural network(DNN)mod-els to predict the context-aware multi-criteria ratings and learn the aggregation *** conduct experiments to evaluate the effect of this approach on the real-world dataset.A significant result is that our method outperforms other state-of-the-art methods for recommendation effectiveness.
