Emergent single-balloon enteroscopy for overt bleeding of small intestinal vascular malformation

A 28-year-old man presented with anemia symptoms and intermittent tarry stool passage for three days. No stigmata of hemorrhage were identified using esophagogastroduodenoscopy, ileocolonoscopy, and contrast-enhanced computed tomography. He then developed massive tarry stool passage with profound hypovolemic shock and hypoxic respiratory failure. Emergent angiography revealed active bleeder, probably from the jejunal branches of the superior mesenteric artery, but embolization was not performed due to possible subsequent extensive bowel ischemia. His airway was secured via endotracheal intubation with ventilator support, and emergent antegrade singleballoon enteroscopy was performed at 8 h after clinical overt bleeding occurrence; the procedure revealed a 2-cm pulsating subepithelial tumor with a protrudingblood plug at the distal jejunum. Laparoscopic segmental resection of the jejunum with end-to-end anastomosis was performed after emergent endoscopic tattooing localization. Pathological examination revealed a vascular malformation in the submucosa with an organizing thrombus. He was uneventfully discharged 5 d later. This case report highlights the benefit of early deep enteroscopy for the treatment of small intestinal bleeding.

Data-Driven Modeling of Partially Observed Biological Systems

We present a numerical approach for modeling unknown dynamical systems using partially observed data,with a focus on biological systems with(relatively)complex dynamical *** an extension of the recently developed deep neural network(DNN)learning methods,our approach is particularly suitable for practical situations when(i)measurement data are available for only a subset of the state variables,and(ii)the system parameters cannot be observed or measured at *** demonstrate that,with a properly designed DNN structure with memory terms,effective DNN models can be learned from such partially observed data containing hidden *** learned DNN model serves as an accurate predictive tool for system *** a few representative biological problems,we demonstrate that such DNN models can capture qualitative dynamical behavior changes in the system,such as bifurcations,even when the parameters controlling such behavior changes are completely unknown throughout not only the model learning process but also the system prediction *** learned DNN model effectively creates a“closed”model involving only the observables when such a closed-form model does not exist mathematically.

Resistance projection welding for TO-Can style package

The effects of the process parameters on the joint quality of TO-Can using resistance projection welding were investigated.A capacitor discharge stored energy welding machine was used for joining caps and headers both coated with nickel SPCC *** electrode materials used in this study were brass and W-Cu ***-tal results indicated that the peak current of the W-Cu electrode was higher than that of the brass electrode,irrespective of the operating pressure *** operating pressure influenced the interfacial heat generation and nugget *** nugget area increased rapidly with increasing charging voltage,resulting in ex-pulsions and electrodes getting *** acceptable welding zone was found in the relationship between the charging voltage and the operating *** test specimens of the acceptable welding zone satisfactorily passed the helium leak *** microscopic morphology of the nugget showed a recrystallized fine grain structure resulting in the nugget being harder than with the HAZ.

Study on the Carbon Nanotube Separative Structure for the Extended Gate H^+-Ion Sensitive Field Effect Transistor

We use the carbon nanotube (CNT) as the material of the pH sensing layer of the separative structure for the extended gate H^+-ion sensitive field effect transistor (EGFET) *** CNT paste was prepared with CNT powder,Ag powder,silicagel,the di-n-butyl phthalate and the toluene solvents by appropriate ratio,then immobilized on the silicon substrate to form the carbon nanotube sensing *** measured theⅠ_(DS)-Ⅴ_G curves of the carbon nanotube separative structure EGFET device in the different pH buffer solutions by the Keithley 236Ⅰ-Ⅴmeasurement *** to the experimental results,we can obtain the pH sensitivities of the carbon nanotube separative structure EGFET device,which is 62.54mV/pH from pH1 to pH13.

Study the Characteristics of Titanium Oxide Hydrogen Ion Sensor Using XRD and AES

We study the extended gate ion sensitive structure,and deposit the titanium oxide (TiO_2) thin film on p-type (100) silicon *** device of the hydrogen ion sensing structure is TiO_2/Si-substrate,and a commercial device of the metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) is connected to the separative sensing *** sensitivity and linearity are measured under different work *** the mixed ratio of Ar/O_2 is 80 ml·min^(-1)/20 ml·min^(-1),the work pressure is 4 Pa,the sputtering power is 150 W,and the sputtering time is two hours,the better sensing properties of the sensitivity and linearity are 36.49 mV/pH and 0.99654,***,some instruments are analyzed the surface of TiO_2 membrane,such as X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Auger Electron Spectrometer (AES).The characteristics of TiO_2 thin film can be demonstrated.

Study of Drift Behavior for RuO_x Sensing Membrane with Penicillinase Immobilized by GPTS

The ruthenium oxide(RuO_x) thin film was prepared by using the *** *** RuO_x pH-sensitive electrode possesses a nearly-Nernstian pH sensitivity(about 57 mV/pH).For the enzyme penicillinase was immobilized directly onto a RuO_x pH-sensitive surface by 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane(GPTS).Some characteristics of the biosensor, such as sensitivity,linear range,and drift,are investigated and the difference between penicillinase immobilized and without are *** to the time-constant model,we can extract the time constant and amplitude at the response curve of the ***,the extracted parameters were used to simulate the mechanism of the drift behavior.

The nano-titanium dioxide (nano-TiO_2) sensing membrane,fabricated by sol-gel technology,was used as the pH-sensing layer of the extended gate field effect transistor (EGFET) *** objective of this research is the preparation of titanium dioxide materials by sol-gel method using Ti(OBu)_4 as the *** this study,we fabricated a nano-titanium dioxide sensing layer on the ITO glass by dip *** order to examine the sensitivity of the nano-TiO_2 films applied to the EGFET devices,we adopted the ITO glass as substrate,and measured theⅠ_(DS)-Ⅴ_G curves of the nano-titanium dioxide separative structure EGFET device in the pH buffer solutions that have different pH values by the Keithley 236 *** the experimental results,we can obtain the pH sensitivities of the EGFET with nano-TiO_2 sensing membrane prepared by sol-gel method,which is 59.86mV/pH from pH 1 to pH 9.

Intraperitoneal metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma after spontaneous rupture:A case report

Rupture of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a life-threatening complication. Peritoneal metastasis of HCC after spontaneous rupture was seldom noted. We report a case of intraperitoneal metastasis of HCC after spon-taneous rupture. A previously asymptomatic 72-year-old man was admitted due to dull abdominal pain with abdominal fullness. He had a history of HCC rupture 10 mo ago and transarterial embolization was performed at that time. Abdominal computer tomograghy (CT) scan showed a huge peritoneal mass over the right up-per quadrant area. Surgical resection was arranged and subsequent microscopic examination conf irmed a diag-nosis of moderately-differentiated HCC.

The outbreak of coronavirus disease-2019(COVID-19)has resulted in a global public health *** with cirrhosis were deemed more susceptible to viral infection because of their dysregulated immune *** to the general population,cirrhotic patients exhibit various degrees of COVID-19-related liver injury,which could be attributed to direct virus cytotoxicity,systemic immune system activation,drug-related liver injury,reactivation of pre-existing liver disease,and hypoxic *** clinical symptoms in patients with cirrhosis and COVID-19 were similar to those in the general population with COVID-19,with a lower proportion of patients with gastrointestinal *** respiratory failure is the predominant cause of mortality in cirrhotic patients with COVID-19,a significant proportion of them lack initial respiratory *** evidence has shown that cirrhotic patients have relatively higher rates of morbidity and mortality associated with *** cirrhosis was also proposed as an independent factor affecting a poor prognosis and the need to consider COVID-19 palliative *** measures implemented to prevent the transmission of the virus are also essential for cirrhotic patients,and they should also receive standard cirrhosis care with minimal *** efficacy of the available COVID-19 vaccines in cirrhotic patients still needs investigation.

Rethinking the necessity of low glucose intervention for cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury

Glucose is the essential and almost exclusive metabolic fuel for the *** stroke caused by a blockage in one or more cerebral arteries quickly leads to a lack of regional cerebral blood supply resulting in severe glucose deprivation with subsequent induction of cellular homeostasis disturbance and eventual neuronal *** make up ischemiamediated adenosine 5′-triphosphate depletion,glucose in the ischemic penumbra area rapidly enters anaerobic metabolism to produce glycolytic adenosine 5′-triphosphate for cell *** appears that an increase in glucose in the ischemic brain would exert favorable *** notion is supported by in vitro studies,but generally denied by most in vivo *** studies to manage increased blood glucose levels after stroke also failed to show any benefits or even brought out harmful effects while elevated admission blood glucose concentrations frequently correlated with poor ***,strict glycaemic control in clinical practice also failed to yield any beneficial *** controversial results from glucose management studies during the past three decades remain a challenging question of whether glucose intervention is needed for ischemic stroke *** review provides a brief overview of the roles of cerebral glucose under normal and ischemic conditions and the results of managing glucose levels in non-diabetic ***,the relationship between blood glucose and cerebral glucose during the ischemia/reperfusion processes and the potential benefits of low glucose supplements for non-diabetic patients are discussed.
