A TVD-WAF-based hybrid finite volume and finite difference scheme for nonlinearly dispersive wave equations

A total variation diminishing-weighted average flux （TVD-WAF）-based hybrid numerical scheme for the enhanced version of nonlinearly dispersive Boussinesq-type equations was developed. The one-dimensional governing equations were rewritten in the conservative form and then discretized on a uniform grid. The finite volume method was used to discretize the flux term while the remaining terms were approximated with the finite difference method. The second-order TVD-WAF method was employed in conjunction with the Harten-Lax-van Leer （HLL） Riemann solver to calculate the numerical flux, and the variables at the cell interface for the local Riemann problem were reconstructed via the fourth- order monotone upstream-centered scheme for conservation laws （MUSCL）. The time marching scheme based on the third-order TVD Runge- Kutta method was used to obtain numerical solutions. The model was validated through a series of numerical tests, in which wave breaking and a moving shoreline were treated. The good agreement between the computed results, documented analytical solutions, and experimental data demonstrates the correct discretization of the governing equations and high accuracy of the proposed scheme, and also conforms the advantages of the proposed shock-capturing scheme for the enhanced version of the Boussinesq model, including the convenience in the treatment of wave breaking and moving shorelines and without the need for a numerical filter.

This article puts forward a new solution to the bound of the outage probability and transmission capacity of Ad-hoc networks. For the proofs of the upper and lower bounds are too complex, a much easier way is introduced to get the same results, and by using Taylor series, the asymptotic bound is derived. By comparing with the simulation results, we found that the asymptotic bound is sufficient accurate when the network parameters are selected properly, and is tighter than the upper and lower bounds.

A hybrid drive wind turbine equipped with a speed regulating differential mechanism can generate electricity at the grid frequency by an electrically excited synchronous generator without requiring fully or partially rated converters. This mechanism has extensively been studied in recent years. To enhance the transient operation performance and low-voltage ridethrough capacity of the proposed hybrid drive wind turbine, we aim to synthesize an advanced control scheme for the flexible regulation of synchronous generator excitation based on fractional-order sliding mode theory. Moreover, an extended state observer is constructed to cooperate with the designed controller and jointly compensate for parametric uncertainties and external disturbances. A dedicated simulation model of a 1.5 MW hybrid drive wind turbine is established and verified through an experimental platform. The results show satisfactory model performance with the maximum and average speed errors of 1.67% and 1.05%, respectively. Moreover, comparative case studies are carried out considering parametric uncertainties and different wind conditions and grid faults, by which the superiority of the proposed controller for improving system ongrid operation performance is verified.

BCAT2-mediated branched-chain amino acid(BCAA) catabolism is critical for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) development,especially at an early ***,whether a high-BCAA diet promotes PDAC development in vivo,and the underlying mechanism of BCAT2 upregulation,remain ***,we find that a high-BCAA diet promotes pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia(PanIN)progression in LSL-KrasG12 D/+; Pdx1-Cre(KC) ***,we screened with an available deubiquitylase library which contains 31 members of USP family and identified that USP1 deubiquitylates BCAT2 at the K229 ***,BCAA increases USP1 protein at the translational level via the GCN2-eIF2α pathway both in vitro and in *** importantly,USP1 inhibition recedes cell proliferation and clone formation in PDAC cells and attenuates pancreas tumor growth in an orthotopic transplanted mice ***,a positive correlation between USP1 and BCAT2 is found in KC;LSL-KrasG12D/+;p53flox/+;Pdx1-Cre mice and clinical ***,a therapeutic targeting USP1-BCAT2-BCAA metabolic axis could be considered as a rational strategy for treatment of PDAC and precisive dietary intervention of BCAA has potentially translational significance.

The ultimate goal of synthetic biology is to build customized cells or organisms to meet specific industrial or medical needs. The most important part of the customized cell is a synthetic genome. Advanced genomic writing technologies are required to build such an artificial genome. Recently, the partially-completed synthetic yeast genome project represents a milestone in this field. In this mini review, we briefly introduce the techniques for de novo genome synthesis and genome editing. Furthermore, we summarize recent research progresses and highlight several applications in the synthetic genome field. Finally, we discuss current challenges and future prospects.

Effect of heat treatment on microstructure,mechanical and tribological properties of in-situ (TiC+TiB)/TC4 composites by casting

To enhance the performance of in-situ synthesized 6vol.%(Ti C+Ti B)/TC4 titanium matrix composites fabricated by casting,a variety of heat treatment processes were carried *** conducting microstructure observations following various heat treatments,it was found that the composites exhibit a basketweave microstructure,consisting of an α phase and a transformed β *** sizes of(α+β) phases were found to be refined to varying degrees after the heat treatment processes,while the morphology of Ti B remains largely unchanged and Ti C becomes *** testing revealed that all composites subjected to different heat treatments demonstrate a notable increase in ultimate compressive strength as well as a slight improvement in plasticity compared to the as-cast *** results of the tribological performance test indicated that the heat-treated composites exhibit lower average friction coefficient,specific wear rate,and worn surface roughness compared to the as-cast *** the heat treatment processes studied,the composite solution heated at 1,150 °C/1 h followed by air cooling,then 950 °C/1 h followed by air cooling,and finally 500 °C/4 h followed by air cooling,demonstrates the highest levels of hardness,compressive strength,and wear *** improvements are attributed to the combined effects of solid solution strengthening,grain refinement,and the pinning of dislocation slip.
