Hydrodesulfiirization(HDS)of thiophene,as a gasoline model oil,over an industrial Ni-Mo/Al2O3 catalyst was investigated in a continuous system under microwave *** HDS efficiency was much higher(5%-14%)under microwave irradiation than conventional *** was proved that the reaction was enhanced by both microwave thermal and non-thermal *** selective heating caused hot spots inside the catalyst,thus improved the reaction *** the analysis of the non-thermal effect,the molecular collisions were significantly increased under microwave ***,instead of being reduced,the apparent activation energy *** may be due to the microwave treatment hindering the adsorption though upright S-bind(η1)and enhancing the parallel adsorption(η5),both adsorptions were considered to favor to the direct desulfurization route and the hydrogenation route ***,the HDS process was considered to proceed along the hydrogenation route under microwave irradiation.

Natural swarms arranged from cells to herds are usually decentralized but display intriguing collective intelligence in coordinating individuals across large scales to efficiently achieve their common goals. Learning from nature may provide new strategies for controlling collective dynamics of synthetic swarms to accomplish specific functions. Here, we present a bioinspired computational framework that steers distributed active swarms to collectively capture and merge targets via reinforcement learning. We exploit collective milling structures of natural herds to cage the targets, and adopt a switching control policy inspired by sperms' chiral dynamics to optimize the trajectories of individuals, through which the active swarms can selforganize to enclose single or multiple distant targets in a dynamical, adaptive and scalable manner. There exists a critical swarm size, beyond which the excessive competition between agents would generate large mechanical forces, leading to capture instability but enabling the transition from short-distance to long-distance merging capture of multiple targets. This work provides physical insights into distributed active swarms and could offer a multilevel, decentralized strategy toward controlling swarm robotics in wide applications such as bio-medical devices, machine immunity, and target clearance.

BACKGROUND Complicated crown–root fracture (CRF) involves severe injury to the crown, root,and pulp, and may be accompanied by multiple root fractures. The loss of a toothhas lifelong consequences for children and teenagers, but the maintenance of pulphealth and the calcific healing of multiple root fractures are rarely reported in *** SUMMARY This case reports healing of a permanent tooth with complicated crown–root andadditional root fractures, in which pulp health was maintained. A 10-year-old girlfell and fractured the root of her maxillary left central incisor at the cervical *** the coronal fragment was repositioned, the tooth was splinted until thetooth was no longer mobile, 2 years later. Eight years after treatment, the toothhas remained asymptomatic with vital pulp and localized gingival ***-beam computed tomography revealed not only calcified healing of the CRFbut also spontaneous healing in an additional undiagnosed root fracture. Thefracture line on the enamel could not be healed by hard tissue and formed agroove in the cervical crown. It was speculated that the groove was related to thelocalized gingival *** This case provides a clinical perspective of the treatment of a tooth with acomplicated CRF and an additional root fracture.

Our previous studies have shown that zein has good biocompatibility and good mechanical properties. The first product from a porous scaffold of zein, a resorbable bone substitute, has passed the biological evaluation of medical devices （ISO 10993） by the China Food and Drug Administration. However, Class III medical devices need quality monitoring before being placed on the market, and such monitoring includes quality control of raw materials, choice of sterilization method, and evaluation of biocompatibility. In this paper, we investigated four sources of zein through amino acid analysis （AAA） and sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis （SDS-PAGE） in order to monitor the composition and purity, and control the quality of raw materials. We studied the effect of three kinds of sterilization method on a porous zein scaffold by SDS-PAGE. We also compared the changes in SDS-PAGE patterns when irradiated with different doses of gamma radiation. We found that polymerization or breakage did not occur on peptide chains of zein during gamma-ray （y-ray） sterilization in the range of 20-30 kGy, which suggested that γ-ray sterilization is suitable for porous zein scaffolds, Regarding cell compatibility, we found a difference between using a 3-（4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl）-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide （MTT） assay and a cell-counting kit-8 （CCK-8） assay to assess cell proliferation on zein film, and concluded that the CCK-8 assay is more suitable, due to its low background optical density.

The ultimate goal of synthetic biology is to build customized cells or organisms to meet specific industrial or medical needs. The most important part of the customized cell is a synthetic genome. Advanced genomic writing technologies are required to build such an artificial genome. Recently, the partially-completed synthetic yeast genome project represents a milestone in this field. In this mini review, we briefly introduce the techniques for de novo genome synthesis and genome editing. Furthermore, we summarize recent research progresses and highlight several applications in the synthetic genome field. Finally, we discuss current challenges and future prospects.

Phthalate esters （PAEs） are extensively applied in industry, and they migrate to environment during the process of production, employ, and treatment and axe difficult to be degraded in nature. However, some microorganisms could use them as the carbon source to growth. In this study, an Acinetobacter sp. strain LMB-5, capable of utilizing PAEs, was isolated from a vegetable greenhouse soil. The degradation capability of strain LMB-5 was also investigated by incubation in mineral salt medium containing different PAEs, dimethyl phthalate （DMP）, diethyl phthalate （DEP）, di-n-butyl phthalate （DBP）, and di-（2-ethylhexyl） phthalate （DEHP）. The strain could grow well with DMP, DEP, DBP, and DEHP. When the concentration of DBP increased from 100 to 400 mg L-1, the half-life extended from 9.5 to 15.5 h. In the concentration range of DBP, the degradation ability of strain LMB-5 could be described by first-order kinetics. During the biodegradation of DBP, three intermediates, 1,2-benzenedicaxboxylic acid,butyl methyl ester, DMP, and phthalic acid （PA） were detected, and the proposed pathway of DBP was identified. By analysis of bioinformatics, one esterase was cloned from the genome of LMB-5 and expressed in Escherichia coll. It displayed an ability to break the ester bonds of DBP. The enzyme exhibited maximal activity at pH 7.0 and 40 ℃ with DBP as the substrate. It was activated by Cu2＋ and Fe3＋ and had a high activity in the presence of low concentrations of methanol or dimethylsulfoxide （each 10%, volume：volume）. The Acinetobacter sp. strain LMB-5 may make a contribution to the remediation of soils polluted by PAEs in the future.

Hydrothermal reactions of Cu (II) ace-tate, 2,2′-bipyridyl (bpy) with 5-nitroisophthalic acid (H2NIPH) resulted in a new coordination polymer [Cu(NIPH)(bpy)] 1. Single crystal X-ray diffraction experiment indicates that 1 possesses a single helix- like chains, of which Cu atoms are coordinated by NIPH ligands and bpy ligands. Compound 1 crystal-lizes in the space group P2(1)/c, a = 0.955(19) nm, b = 1.259(3) nm, c = 1.3737(3) nm, β = 95.13(3)°, V = 1.6455(6) nm3 and Z = 4. The TGA analysis shows that 1 has no remarkable weight loss up to 284℃, as a result of its high thermal stability. Magnetic meas-urements indicate an antiferromagnetic behavior of compound 1.

Decomposition of the polycation Al_(13)O_(4)(OH)_(2)4(H_(2)O)_(12)^(7+)(Al_(13)) promoted by ligand is a vital subject to advance our understanding of natural and artificial occurrence and evolution of aluminum ions,especially in the case of acidic condition that dissolved Al^(3+)species can be released from the Al-bearing ***,the microscopic pathway of synchronous proton-promoted and ligand-promoted decomposition process for Al_(13)is still in the status of ***,we applied differential mass spectrometry method and DFT calculation to study the initial detailed process of Al_(13)decomposition under the presence of proton and salicylic acid (H_(2)Sal).Mass results showed that the mononuclear Al^(3+)-H_(2)Sal complexes dominated the resulting Al species,whereas the monodentate complex Al_(13)HSal6+was not observed in the *** difference of decomposition levels between the ligand/Al ratio 0.2 and 0.5 cases revealed that proton and ligand performed synergistic effect in initial Al_(13)decomposition process,and the proton transfer determined the ring closure *** ring closure reaction is the prerequisite for the collapse of Al_(13)structure and detachment of the mononuclear *** calculations reveal that hydrogen bond plays an important role in inducing the formation of chelated complex accompanying proton *** of protons at the bridging OH^(-)can elongate and weaken the critical bond between targeted Al^(3+)and μ4-O_(2)-resulting from delocalization of electron pairs in the oxygen *** results demonstrate the detailed mechanism of Al_(13)composition promoted by ligand and proton,and provide significant understanding for further application and control of Al_(13).
