The South china Sea, as ‘a non-volcanic passive margin basin’ in the Pacific, has often been considered as a small-scale analogue of the *** recent ocean drilling in the northern South china Sea margin found, however, that the Iberian model of non-volcanic rifted margin from the Atlantic does not apply to the South china *** this paper, we review a variety of rifted basins and propose to discriminate two types of rifting basins: plate-edge type such as the South china Sea and intra-plate type like the *** not only differ from each other in structure, formation process, lifespan and geographic size, but also occur at different stages of the Wilson *** intra-plate rifting occurred in the Mesozoic and gave rise to large oceans, whereas the plate-edge rifting took place mainly in the mid-Cenozoic, with three-quarters of the basins concentrated in the Western *** a member of the Western Pacific system of marginal seas, the South china Sea should be studied not in isolation on its origin and evolution, but in a systematic context to include also its neighboring counterparts.

Multi-biomarker indexes were analyzed for two piston cores from potential cold seep areas of the South china Sea off southwestern Taiwan. Total organic carbon（TOC） normalized terrestrial（n-alkanes） and marine（brassicasterol, dinosterol, alkenones and iso-GDGTs） biomarker contents and ratios（TMBR, 1/Pmar-aq, BIT） were used to evaluate the contributions of terrestrial and marine organic matter（TOM and MOM respectively） to the sedimentary organic matter, indicating that MOM dominated the organic sources in Core MD052911 and the sedimentary organic matter in Core ORI-_（86）0-22 was mainly derived from terrestrial inputs, and different morphologies were the likely reason for TOM percentage differences. BIT results suggested that river-transported terrestrial soil organic matter was not a major source of TOM of sedimentary organic matter around these *** biomarkers for methane-oxidizing archaea（MOA） were only detected in one sample at 172 cm depth of Core ORI-_（86）0-22, with abnormally high iso-GDGTs content and Methane Index（MI） value（0.94）. These results indicated high anaerobic oxidation of methane（AOM） activities at or around 172 cm in Core ORI-_（86）*** in Core MD052911, MOA biomarkers were not detected and MI values were lower（0.19–0.38）, indicated insignificant contributions of iso-GDGTs from methanotrophic archaea and the absence of significant AOM activities. Biomarker results thus indicated that the discontinuous upward methane seepage and insufficient methane flux could not induce high AOM activities in our sampling sites. In addition, the different patterns of TEX_（86） and U_（37）^（K′） temperature in two cores suggested that AOM activities affected TEX_（86）37 temperature estimates with lower values in Core ORI-_（86）0-22, but not significantly on TEX_（86） temperature estimates in Core MD052911.

Fe76Si9B10P5/Zn0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4amorphous composite with micro-cellular structure and high electrical resistivity was prepared by spark plasma sintering（SPS） at 487 °C. XRD and SEM results showed that the Fe76Si9B10P5alloy powders remained the amorphous state and the composite was dense. A fusion zone at interface of Fe76Si9B10P5cell body and Zn0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4cell wall was observed by TEM, which also indicates the formation of local high temperature. The interface bonding based on the formation of local high temperature in SPS process was observed. It is believed that the tip effect of Zn0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4nanoparticles promotes the local discharging and plasmas creation in the gaps, and the discharging energy forms an instantaneous local high temperature to complete the local sintering and the densification of Zn0.5Ni0.5Fe2O4particles at a low nominal sinter temperature. Simultaneously, the local high temperature stimulates the adjacent gaps discharging, thus facilitate the continuous formation of new discharging path. Finally, sintering and densification of the amorphous composite is complete.

Shallow marine sequences of the northern South china Sea (SCS) are uplifted and exposed by plate convergence in the Taiwan mountain belt. These deposits provide detailed geological information about the rifting event, stratigraphy, sedimentology, paleoclimate and paleoceanography of the shallow SCS to compare with what are recorded in the ODP 1148 deep-sea core. Seismic surveys and marine micropalentological studies show that Eocene sequences in the offshore Taiwan Strait and onland Taiwan mountain belt are all deposited in rifting basins and are covered unconformably by the Late Oligocene-Neogene post-rifting strata. Between syn-rifting and post-rifting sequences, there is a regional break-up unconformity throughout the island. Early Oligocene and Late Eocene strata are missing along the break-up unconformity equivalent to the T7 unconformity in the Pearl River Mouth Basin off south china. This may suggest that the SCS oceanic crust could have initiated between 33 and 39 Ma. Neither obvious stratigraphic gap nor slumping features are found in the Oligocene-Miocene transition interval of Taiwan. This observation highly contrasts with what has been documented from the ODP 1148 deep-sea core. This suggests that the stratigraphic gap and slumping features could only be recorded in the SCS deep sea region, but not in the shallow shelf near Taiwan. Compared to the Middle Miocene paleoceanographic re-organization events in the SCS deep sea, the geological history of the Taiwan shallow sequence shows changes of in sedimentation and faunal composition. Due to the Antarctic glacial expansion at^14 Ma, Middle to late Miocene strata of the Western Foothills show progressive regression sedimentations associated with a decrease of benthic foraminif-eral abundance and a sharp faunal turnover event. Taiwan Island’s outcropping strata can provide important insights into the sedimentary environment and source development of the southeast china *** research is based on the Eocene–Miocene strata of the Tsukeng area in the central Western Foothills,northeast shoreline of Taiwan Island and two sites of the East china Sea Shelf Basin(ECSSB),using petrology and detrital zircon U-Pb age for the *** show that central and northeast Taiwan Island experienced a transformation from continental to marine facies during the Eocene–Miocene,and the sandstone maturity changed with *** analysis shows that sediments from the Eocene–early Oligocene strata mainly originated from near-source Mesozoic rocks,whose zircon age is consistent with the igneous rock in the surrounding area and coastal Cathaysia,showing 120 Ma and 230 Ma peaks in the age spectrum *** the late Oligocene,peaks of 900 Ma and 1800 Ma are seen,indicating that deposition of matter from the old block *** sediments could be a mixture of the surrounding Mesozoic volcanic and fewer pre-Cambrian rocks sourced from the coastal river and sporadic old basement in the ECSSB instead of longdistance transportation.

In this work,we use commercial powder particulates(a cosmetic fixing powder)as triboelectric materials for constructing a triboelectric nanogenerator(CFP-TENG).Through finger pressing,the CFP-TENG generated approximate open-circuit voltage,short-circuit current,and maximum power density values of 1141 V,521μA,and 570.96μW/cm^(2),***-seven commercial blue LEDs can be easily lit up by the ***,this TENG,which was designed as a novel palette structure for harvesting mechanical energy from bicycle motion,serves as a self-powered bicycle speed *** addition,the cosmetic fixing powder can be used as an effective material to enhance the triboelectric property of *** study provides an effective method for developing a cost-effective TENG without the use of complex surface micro-/nano-texturing.

Olefin polymerization is one of the most im portant chemical reactions in *** work presents a strategy that emphasizes the synergistic meta/poro-steric hindrance of N-aryl groups and electronic effects in newly synthesized neutral salicylaldiminato nickel *** nickel(Ⅱ)catalysts exhibit exceptional thermostability,ranging from 30℃to 130℃,demonstrating enhanced catalytic activities and broadly regulated polyethylene molecular weights(3-341 kg·mol^(-1))and controlled polymer branch density(2-102 brs/1000C).The preferred catalyst Ni3 with concerted steric and electronic effects enables the production of solid-state semi-crystalline polyethylene materials at temperatures below 90℃.Notably,Ni3 exhibits an impressive tolerance of 110℃and can withstand even the challenging polymerization temperature of 130℃,leading to the production of polyethylene wax and ***,functionalized polyethylene is produced.

For the rational design of metal catalyst in olefin polymerization catalysis,various strategies were applied to suppress the chain transfer by bulking up the axial positions of the metal center,among which the"sandwich"type turned out to be an eficient category in achieving high molecular weight *** the a-dimine system,the"sandwich"type catalysts were built using the typical 8-aryl-naphthyI *** this contribution,by introducing the rotationally restrained benzosuberyl substituent into the ortho-position of N-aryl rings,a new class of "sandwich-like"a-diimine nickel catalysts was constructed and fully *** rotationally restrained benzosuberyl substituents played a"sandwich-like"function by capping the nickel center from two axial *** to the nickel catalyst Ni1 bearing freely rotated benzhydryl substituent,Ni2 featuring benzosubery|substituent enabled the increase(8 times)of polymer molecular weights from 8 kDa to 65 kDa in the polymerization of *** further increasing the steric bulk of another ortho-site of the N-aryl ring,the polymer molecular weight even reached an ultrahigh level of 833 kDa(Mw=1857 kDa)using the optimized ***,these nickel catalysts could also mediate the copolymerization of ethylene with methyl 10-undecenoate,with Ni3 giving the highest copolymer molecular weight(88 kDa)and the highest incorporation of comonmer(2.0 mol1%),along with high activity of up to 10^(5)g·mol^(-1)·h^(-1).
