Functional thermal fluids and their applications in battery thermal management:A comprehensive review

With the increasing requirements for fast charging and discharging,higher requirements have been put forward for the thermal management of power ***,there is an urgent need to develop efficient heat transfer *** a new type of heat transfer fluids,functional thermal fluids mainly includ-ing nanofluids(NFs)and phase change fluids(PCFs),have the advantages of high heat carrying density,high heat transfer rate,and broad operational temperature ***,challenges that hinder their practical applications *** this paper,we firstly overview the classification,thermophysical prop-erties,drawbacks,and corresponding modifications of functional thermal *** NFs,the high ther-mal conductivity and high convective heat transfer performance were mainly elaborated,while the stability and viscosity issues were also *** then for PCFs,the high heat carrying density was mainly elaborated,while the problems of supercooling,stability,and viscosity were also *** this basis,the composite fluids combined NFs and PCFs technology,has been ***,the thermal properties of traditional fluids,NFs,PCFs,and composite fluids are compared,which proves that functional thermal fluids are a good choice to replace traditional fluids as ***,battery thermal management system(BTMS)based on functional thermal fluids is summarized in detail,and the thermal management effects and pump consumption are compared with that of water-based ***,the current technical challenges that parameters optimization of functional thermal fluids and structures optimization of BTMS systematically are *** the future,it is necessary to pay more attention to using machine learning to predict thermophysical properties of functional thermal fluids and their applications for BTMS under actual vehicle conditions.

Statistical study of magnetic holes in the upstream region of Mercury’s bow shock

Magnetic holes are magnetic depression structures that exist widely in many plasma *** magnetic holes with durations of>1 s in the solar wind at Mercury’s orbit have drawn much attention,but the properties of the magnetic holes with shorter durations are still ***,we investigate the magnetic holes with durations of 0.1-100 s in the upstream region of Mercury’s bow shock based on observations by the MESSENGER(MErcury Surface,Space ENvironment,GEochemistry,and Ranging)*** can be divided into two groups according to the distribution of their duration:small-duration magnetic holes(SDMHs,0.6 s).The duration of each group approximately obeys a log-normal distribution with a median of~0.25 s and 3 s,*** 1.7%(32.6%)of the SDMHs(LDMHs)reduce the magnetic field strength by more than 50%.For both groups,some structures have a linear or quasi-linear polarization,whereas others have an elliptical *** magnetic hole events in both groups tend to have a higher rate of occurrence when the interplanetary magnetic field strength is *** occurrence rates are also affected by Mercury’s foreshock,which can increase(decrease)the occurrence rate of the SDMHs(LDMHs).This finding suggests that Mercury’s foreshock might be one source of the SDMHs and that the foreshock can destroy some *** observations suggest that a new group of magnetic holes with durations of<0.6 s exist in the upstream region of Mercury’s bow shock.

A spatiotemporal deep learning method for excavation-induced wall deflections

Data-driven approaches such as neural networks are increasingly used for deep excavations due to the growing amount of available monitoring data in practical ***,most neural network models only use the data from a single monitoring point and neglect the spatial relationships between multiple monitoring ***,most models lack flexibility in providing predictions for multiple days after monitoring *** study proposes a sequence-to-sequence(seq2seq)two-dimensional(2D)convolutional long short-term memory neural network(S2SCL2D)for predicting the spatiotemporal wall deflections induced by deep *** model utilizes the data from all monitoring points on the entire wall and extracts spatiotemporal features from data by combining the 2D convolutional layers and long short-term memory(LSTM)*** S2SCL2D model achieves a long-term prediction of wall deflections through a recursive seq2seq *** excavation depth,which has a significant impact on wall deflections,is also considered using a feature fusion *** excavation project in Hangzhou,China,is used to illustrate the proposed *** results demonstrate that the S2SCL2D model has superior prediction accuracy and robustness than that of the LSTM and S2SCL1D(one-dimensional)*** prediction model demonstrates a strong generalizability when applied to an adjacent *** on the long-term prediction results,practitioners can plan and allocate resources in advance to address the potential engineering issues.

Primary and Secondary Calcite in Chinese Loess Distinguished by Crystallinity and Implications for Illuviation Depth and East Asian Summer Monsoon Intensity

The crystallinity has the potential to distinguish the primary and secondary calcite in Chinese loess， which then provides insights into illuviation depth and variations of the East Asian summer monsoon. However， this aspect has been rarely investigated. In this study， we defined the crystallinity of calcite as the Height/Area (H/A) ratio of the diffracted peak at crystal face (1 0 4). The H/A ratio inversely correlates with the average width of the diffracted peak， where a higher H/A ratio indicates higher crystallinity of calcite. Through the mixing and synthetic experiments， we found that the H/A ratio is minimally affected by factors such as calcite content， deposition temperature or rate but significantly influenced by the ionic impurity and the mixing proportion of different calcites. Subsequently， we examined desert samples of loess sources and loess carbonate nodules. Desert samples predominantly consist of primary calcite which inherits characteristics from cryptocrystalline limestone with high levels of ionic impurities resulting in low H/A ratio of 4.30 ± 0.51. In contrast， loess carbonate nodules contain abundant secondary calcite precipitated within soil interstices with low levels of ionic impurities leading to a significantly higher H/A ratio of 7.76 ± 0.82. Consequently， higher H/A ratios during interglacial periods compared to glacial periods are attributed to variations in relative proportions between primary and secondary calcite in loess sequences. The thickness， between the glacial-interglacial boundary and the depth where the H/A ratio starts to increase from the bottom to the top in the loess layer， can be used to indicate the illuviation depth of upper-soil carbonates and the intensity of the East Asian summer monsoon. This proxy can be further applied in long-term loess sequences to uncover the summer monsoon evolution.

轮胎侧偏角的辨识与调控是汽车稳定性控制的关键技术,基于轮胎接地特性来辨识估算轮胎侧偏角是一种新的方法。通过搭建面向胎内多传感器的智能轮胎开发平台,并开展侧偏试验分析基于接地信号的轮胎侧偏特征。首先明确智能轮胎开发平台的功能及设计要求,搭建系统架构并进行硬件选型,其中胎内传感器包括3个三轴加速度计和3个压电薄膜传感器。其次开发了专用轮辋总成和基于美国NI cRIO的数据采集器,软件基于LabVIEW开发并实现了多通道数据同步和大数据流管控等。最后在Flat Trac台架上进行系统的轮胎侧偏试验。分析发现,在侧偏角达到±3°时加速度计(量程500g)均出现超量程现象,其信号频率主要集中在500~1000 Hz;轮胎中心平面位置加速度计250 Hz内的信号对侧偏角不敏感,但偏离轮胎中心平面其他位置的传感器信号敏感,特别是胎侧位置的径向加速度,其2个尖峰与侧偏角显著相关;轮胎中心平面位置的接地长度与垂直载荷、胎压相关,而与侧偏角无关,但偏离轮胎中心平面其他位置的接地长度对侧偏角敏感,并且垂直载荷越大、胎压越低则影响越明显。开发的智能轮胎开发平台为轮胎接地机理与轮胎侧偏角估算等研究提供了有效手段。

N-doped graphene quantum dot-decorated N-TiO2/P-doped porous hollow g-C_(3)N_(4) nanotube composite photocatalysts for antibiotic photodegradation and H2 production

Exclusive responsiveness to ultraviolet light (~3.2 eV) and high photogenerated charge recombination rate are the two primary drawbacks of pure TiO_(2). We combined N-doped graphene quantum dots (N-GQDs), morphology regulation, and heterojunction construction strategies to synthesize N-GQD/N-doped TiO_(2)/P-doped porous hollow g-C_(3)N_(4) nanotube (PCN) composite photocatalysts (denoted as G-TPCN). The optimal sample (G-TPCN doped with 0.1wt% N-GQD, denoted as 0.1% G-TPCN) exhibits significantly enhanced photoabsorption, which is attributed to the change in bandgap caused by elemental doping (P and N), the improved light-harvesting resulting from the tube structure, and the upconversion effect of N-GQDs. In addition, the internal charge separation and transfer capability of0.1% G-TPCN are dramatically boosted, and its carrier concentration is 3.7, 2.3, and 1.9 times that of N-TiO_(2), PCN, and N-TiO_(2)/PCN(TPCN-1), respectively. This phenomenon is attributed to the formation of Z-scheme heterojunction between N-TiO_(2) and PCNs, the excellent electron conduction ability of N-GQDs, and the short transfer distance caused by the porous nanotube structure. Compared with those of N-TiO_(2), PCNs, and TPCN-1, the H2 production activity of 0.1%G-TPCN under visible light is enhanced by 12.4, 2.3, and 1.4times, respectively, and its ciprofloxacin (CIP) degradation rate is increased by 7.9, 5.7, and 2.9 times, respectively. The optimized performance benefits from excellent photoresponsiveness and improved carrier separation and migration efficiencies. Finally, the photocatalytic mechanism of 0.1% G-TPCN and five possible degradation pathways of CIP are proposed. This study clarifies the mechanism of multiple modification strategies to synergistically improve the photocatalytic performance of 0.1% G-TPCN and provides a potential strategy for rationally designing novel photocatalysts for environmental remediation and solar energy conversion.
