Overestimate of remediation efficiency due to residual sodium persulfate in PAHs contaminated soil and a solution

Oxidation remediation is a commonly used technology for PAHs contaminated soil presently,but the overestimate of efficiency due to ongoing remediation by residual oxidants during extraction and testing has not been paid enough attention.In this study,persulfate was activated by Fe(Ⅱ)to investigate the effects of residual oxidants on PAHs removal during detection process and the elimination effects of adding Na_(2)SO_(3) and extending sampling time on residual oxidants.Results verified that the residual oxidants removed PAHs in extraction process,making the results lower than the actual values:the detection recovery rate η of ΣPAHs and 3-6 ring PAHs ranged from 24.3%(25%Na_(2)S_(2)O_(8)treatment)to 87.4%(5%Na_(2)S_(2)O_(8)+4/4Fe^(2+) treatment),20.1%-99.0%,28.9%-87.9%,20.8%-89.4%,and 1.8.6%-76.9%,respectively.After adding Na_(2)SO_(3),the accuracy of detection results increased significantly:the η of ΣPAHs and 3-6 ring PAHs increased to 64.1%-96.5%,58.8%-95.5%,73.8%-114.4%,60.6%-95.6%,and 45.4%-77.1%,respectively.After 49 days of adding oxidants,residual oxidants had no considerable effect on the detection of PAHs,indicating it was appropriate to start soil remediation verification sampling49 days after the remediation was completed.The observed results will help scientific evaluation of the remediation effects of chemical oxidation on or-ganic contaminated soil.

Characterization of sputtering CoFe-ITO junction for spin injection

The combination of ferromagnetic metal (FM) and semiconductor (SC) for spin injection was studied and demonstrated with FM-SC-FM junction. The semiconductor was chosen to be doped Indium-Tin-Oxide(ITO). Both ITO single-layer film and CoFe-ITO-CoFe junction were sputtering deposited. The ITO single-layer film was n-type with a small resistance of about 100 Ω/Square. I-V curves and Magnetoresistance (MR) effect of the CoFe-ITO-CoFe junction were measured at room temperature and 77 K. Results show that the CoFe forms an ohmic contact to ITO film. But at low temperature, the I-V curves show a Schottky-like characteristic, which is strongly affect by applied magnetic field. The MR effect was measured to be 1% at 77 K, which indicates a spin injection into semiconductor to be realized in this sandwich junction.

Glufosinate-ammonium herbicides are the most widely used broad-spectrum,non-selective herbicides in the world.Glufosinate-ammonium is a structural analogue of glutamate(Glu)which can irreversibly inhibit the activity of glutamine synthetase(GS)and Glu decarboxylase in plants,thereby blocking the synthesis of glutamine(Gln)from Glu and ammonia(Hoerlein,1994).This causes the plants to die because of the nitrogen metabolism disorder and subsequent intracellular accumulation of ammonia.In humans,the characteristic features of glufosinate-ammonium herbicide poisoning include gastrointestinal symptoms and neurotoxicity(Watanabe and Sano,1998).

Statistical study of magnetic holes in the upstream region of Mercury’s bow shock

Magnetic holes are magnetic depression structures that exist widely in many plasma environments.The magnetic holes with durations of>1 s in the solar wind at Mercury’s orbit have drawn much attention,but the properties of the magnetic holes with shorter durations are still unclear.Here,we investigate the magnetic holes with durations of 0.1-100 s in the upstream region of Mercury’s bow shock based on observations by the MESSENGER(MErcury Surface,Space ENvironment,GEochemistry,and Ranging)spacecraft.They can be divided into two groups according to the distribution of their duration:small-duration magnetic holes(SDMHs,0.6 s).The duration of each group approximately obeys a log-normal distribution with a median of~0.25 s and 3 s,respectively.Approximately 1.7%(32.6%)of the SDMHs(LDMHs)reduce the magnetic field strength by more than 50%.For both groups,some structures have a linear or quasi-linear polarization,whereas others have an elliptical polarization.The magnetic hole events in both groups tend to have a higher rate of occurrence when the interplanetary magnetic field strength is weaker.Their occurrence rates are also affected by Mercury’s foreshock,which can increase(decrease)the occurrence rate of the SDMHs(LDMHs).This finding suggests that Mercury’s foreshock might be one source of the SDMHs and that the foreshock can destroy some LDMHs.These observations suggest that a new group of magnetic holes with durations of<0.6 s exist in the upstream region of Mercury’s bow shock.

Functional thermal fluids and their applications in battery thermal management:A comprehensive review

With the increasing requirements for fast charging and discharging,higher requirements have been put forward for the thermal management of power batteries.Therefore,there is an urgent need to develop efficient heat transfer fluids.As a new type of heat transfer fluids,functional thermal fluids mainly includ-ing nanofluids(NFs)and phase change fluids(PCFs),have the advantages of high heat carrying density,high heat transfer rate,and broad operational temperature range.However,challenges that hinder their practical applications remain.In this paper,we firstly overview the classification,thermophysical prop-erties,drawbacks,and corresponding modifications of functional thermal fluids.For NFs,the high ther-mal conductivity and high convective heat transfer performance were mainly elaborated,while the stability and viscosity issues were also analyzed.And then for PCFs,the high heat carrying density was mainly elaborated,while the problems of supercooling,stability,and viscosity were also analyzed.On this basis,the composite fluids combined NFs and PCFs technology,has been summarized.Furthermore,the thermal properties of traditional fluids,NFs,PCFs,and composite fluids are compared,which proves that functional thermal fluids are a good choice to replace traditional fluids as coolants.Then,battery thermal management system(BTMS)based on functional thermal fluids is summarized in detail,and the thermal management effects and pump consumption are compared with that of water-based BTMS.Finally,the current technical challenges that parameters optimization of functional thermal fluids and structures optimization of BTMS systematically are presented.In the future,it is necessary to pay more attention to using machine learning to predict thermophysical properties of functional thermal fluids and their applications for BTMS under actual vehicle conditions.

Primary and Secondary Calcite in Chinese Loess Distinguished by Crystallinity and Implications for Illuviation Depth and East Asian Summer Monsoon Intensity

The crystallinity has the potential to distinguish the primary and secondary calcite in Chinese loess， which then provides insights into illuviation depth and variations of the East Asian summer monsoon. However， this aspect has been rarely investigated. In this study， we defined the crystallinity of calcite as the Height/Area (H/A) ratio of the diffracted peak at crystal face (1 0 4). The H/A ratio inversely correlates with the average width of the diffracted peak， where a higher H/A ratio indicates higher crystallinity of calcite. Through the mixing and synthetic experiments， we found that the H/A ratio is minimally affected by factors such as calcite content， deposition temperature or rate but significantly influenced by the ionic impurity and the mixing proportion of different calcites. Subsequently， we examined desert samples of loess sources and loess carbonate nodules. Desert samples predominantly consist of primary calcite which inherits characteristics from cryptocrystalline limestone with high levels of ionic impurities resulting in low H/A ratio of 4.30 ± 0.51. In contrast， loess carbonate nodules contain abundant secondary calcite precipitated within soil interstices with low levels of ionic impurities leading to a significantly higher H/A ratio of 7.76 ± 0.82. Consequently， higher H/A ratios during interglacial periods compared to glacial periods are attributed to variations in relative proportions between primary and secondary calcite in loess sequences. The thickness， between the glacial-interglacial boundary and the depth where the H/A ratio starts to increase from the bottom to the top in the loess layer， can be used to indicate the illuviation depth of upper-soil carbonates and the intensity of the East Asian summer monsoon. This proxy can be further applied in long-term loess sequences to uncover the summer monsoon evolution.

基于可恢复功能的抗震设计理念,提出了一种带有摩擦耗能组件的可更换拼接连接节点,该节点由H形钢柱、悬臂段、H形钢梁、可更换的翼缘连接板和摩擦铰组成。利用有限元软件ABAQUS建立节点的有限元模型并对其进行拟静力分析,通过更改翼缘连接板强度和厚度、削弱区深度和长度、转动螺栓的直径和数量,探究不同设计参数对节点的滞回性能、承载力、刚度以及位移延性的影响。结果表明:可更换拼接连接节点的承载力、刚度、总耗能等随着翼缘连接板强度和摩擦铰摩擦力的增大而提高,翼缘连接板采用LYP160钢材节点的延性明显高于采用Q235钢材节点的延性;摩擦铰的摩擦耗能随着摩擦力的增大而提高,随着翼缘连接板强度的增大而降低。

Since the discovery of enzyme-like activity of Fe3O4 nanoparticles in 2007,nanozymes are becoming the promising substitutes for natural enzymes due to their advantages of high catalytic activity,low cost,mild reaction conditions,good stability,and suitable for large-scale production.Recently,with the cross fusion of nanomedicine and nanocatalysis,nanozyme-based theranostic strategies attract great attention,since the enzymatic reactions can be triggered in the tumor microenvironment to achieve good curative effect with substrate specificity and low side effects.Thus,various nanozymes have been developed and used for tumor therapy.In this review,more than 270 research articles are discussed systematically to present progress in the past five years.First,the discovery and development of nanozymes are summarized.Second,classification and catalytic mechanism of nanozymes are discussed.Third,activity prediction and rational design of nanozymes are focused by highlighting the methods of density functional theory,machine learning,biomimetic and chemical design.Then,synergistic theranostic strategy of nanozymes are introduced.Finally,current challenges and future prospects of nanozymes used for tumor theranostic are outlined,including selectivity,biosafety,repeatability and stability,in-depth catalytic mechanism,predicting and evaluating activities.

Fresh-Keeping Decision and Coordination of Fresh Agricultural Product Supply Chain Considering Carbon Cap-and-Trade under Different Dominance

In the context of low carbon,this paper discussed the impact of the carbon cap-and-trade policy on the fresh-keeping decision-making of two-echelon fresh agricultural product supply chains under different dominance,and designed cost-sharing contracts to coordinate the supply chain of fresh agricultural products dominated by suppliers and retailers respectively.The results showed that:dominance has no effect on the fresh-keeping decision and total revenue of fresh agricultural product supply chain,but it affects the internal income distribution,and dominance does not always bring more benefits;the implementation of carbon cap-and-trade reduces the fresh-keeping decision-making of fresh agricultural products supply chain and reduces the free-rider income of followers;the role of higher carbon trading price is twofold,which not only brings about the speculation of leading enterprises,but also promotes the application of low-carbon technologies;consumers’high preference for freshness,low-cost and high-efficiency low-carbon technology are all conducive to improving the fresh-keeping efforts and benefits of the supply chain;cost-sharing contracts can coordinate the supply chain of fresh agricultural products.
