The reactant concentration at the catalytic interface holds the key to the activity of electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),mainly referring to the capacity of adsorbing hydrogen and electron *** hydrogen adsorption free energy(ΔGH)as a reactivity descriptor,the volcano curve based on Sabatier principle is established to evaluate the hydrogen evolution activity of ***,the role of electron as reactant received insufficient attention,especially for noble metal-free compound catalysts with poor conductivity,leading to cognitive gap between electronic conductivity and apparent catalytic *** we successfully construct a series of catalyst models with gradient conductivities by regulating molybdenum disulfide(MoS_(2))electronic bandgap via a simple solvothermal *** demonstrate that the conductivity of catalysts greatly affects the overall catalytic *** further elucidate the key role of intrinsic conductivity of catalyst towards water electrolysis,mainly concentrating on the electron transport from electrode to catalyst,the electron accumulation process at the catalyst layer,and the charge transfer progress from catalyst to *** and experimental evidence demonstrates that,with the enhancement in electron accessibility at the catalytic interface,the dominant parameter governing overall HER activity gradually converts from electron accessibility to combination of electron accessibility and hydrogen adsorbing *** results provide the insight from various perspective for developing noble metal-free catalysts in electrocatalysis beyond HER.

Thermofluidic investigations of oil natural transformer:Closed-loop modelling and experimental validation

Excessively high temperatures inside a power transformer can accelerate the ageing rate and even cause unplanned *** estimating the hot-spot temperature(HST)of a power transformer is important for regulating the load and ensuring long-term *** this study,a closed-loop model of a 110-kV product transformer with an oil natural/air forced(ONAF)cooling mode is built to predict HST,in which the compression ratio of windings,equivalent heat source and radiator geometry are *** to the flow field of the winding,the‘dead oil zone’and reverse oil flow are observed in the horizontal oil *** accuracy of the proposed model is experimentally validated by temperature-rise *** results show that the absolute errors between the measured results and simulation are below 5°C,and the average error is~2°***,the arrangements of windings and radiators are studied to enhance the oil *** adding 5 washers to the high-voltage winding,the average temperature can be decreased by 6°C compared with the case without a *** the radiator can also mitigate the characteristic temperatures,and the optimal height difference between the radiator and winding centre is suggested to be 0.66 m.

Retrieval-and-alignment based large-scale indoor point cloud semantic segmentation

Current methods for point cloud semantic segmentation depend on the extraction of descriptive features. However, unlike images, point clouds are irregular and often lack texture information, making it demanding to extract discriminative features. In addition, noise, outliers, and uneven point distribution are commonly present in point clouds, which further complicates the segmentation task. To address these problems, a novel architecture is proposed for direct and accurate large-scale point cloud segmentation based on point cloud retrieval and alignment. The proposed approach involves using a feature-based point cloud retrieval method for searching for reference point clouds with annotations from a dataset. In the following segmentation stage, an overlap-based point cloud registration method has been developed to align the target and reference point clouds. For accurate and robust alignment, an overlap region estimation module is trained to locate the optimal overlap region between two pieces of point clouds in a coarse-to-fine manner. In the detected overlap region, the global and local features of the points are extracted and combined for featuremetric registration to obtain accurate transformation parameters between the target and reference point clouds. After alignment, the annotated segmentation of the reference is transferred to the target point clouds to obtain accurate segmentation results. Extensive experiments are conducted to show that the developed method outperforms the state-of-the-art approaches in terms of both accuracy and robustness against noise and outliers.

Comparison of inebilizumab or rituximab in addition to glucocorticoid therapy for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders

AIM:To investigate the short-term efficacy and safety of inebilizumab for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders(NMOSD).METHODS:A total of 33 patients with NMOSD treated with inebilizumab(Group INB,n=15)or rituximab(Group RTX,n=18)in addition to high-dose glucocorticoids were *** groups underwent hormone shock therapy during the acute ***,Group INB received inebilizumab injections during the remission phase,while Group RTX received rituximab injections.A comparison of aquaporins 4(AQP4)titer values,peripheral blood B lymphocyte counts,and visual function recovery was conducted before and 8wk after ***,adverse reactions and patient tolerability were analyzed after using inebilizumab treatment ***:Following inebilizumab treatment,there was a significantly improvement in the visual acuity of NMOSD patients(P0.05).Furthermore,inebilizumab exhibited higher safety levels than that of rituximab ***:The combination of inebilizumab and high-dose glucocorticoids proves to be *** comparison to rituximab injections,inebilizumab displays better tolerance and ***,it demonstrates a partial effect in preventing optic nerve ***,it stands as an effective method to reduce the disability rates and improve the daily living ability of patients with NMOSD.

To the Editor:Veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(VA-ECMO)has been used as a bridge in patients with advanced heart failure(AdHF)while waiting for heart transplantation(HTx).Many studies reported by developed countries have confirmed the advantages of VA-ECMO in terms of bridge to left ventricular assist device(LVAD)or HTx,with stabilizing the condition and improving the possibility of further treatment of patients.[1-3]Recent data from the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization(ELSO)[4]indicated that ECMO used as a bridge has increased by 20.5%over a ***,to date,there are few studies on the bridge experience of VA-ECMO in the mainland of China.

Examining the characteristics between time and distance gaps of secondary crashes

Understanding the characteristics of time and distance gaps between the primary(PC)and secondary crashes(SC)is crucial for preventing SC ccurrences and improving road *** previous studies have tried to analyse the variation of gaps,there is limited evidence in quantifying the relationships between different gaps and various influential *** study proposed a two-layer stacking framework to discuss the time and distance ***,the framework took random forests(RF),gradient boosting decision tree(GBDT)and eXtreme gradient boosting as the base classifiers in the first layer and applied logistic regression(LR)as a combiner in the second *** this basis,the local interpretable model-agnostic explanations(LIME)technology was used to interpret the output of the stacking model from both local and global *** SC dentification and feature selection,346 SCs and 22 crash-related factors were collected from California interstate *** results showed that the stacking model outperformed base models evaluated by accuracy,precision,and recall *** explanations based on LIME suggest that collision type,distance,speed and volume are the critical features that affect the time and distance *** volume can prolong queue length and increase the distance gap from the SCs to *** collision types,peak periods,workday,truck involved and tow away likely induce a long-distance ***,there is a shorter distance gap when secondary roads run in the same direction and are close to the primary *** speed is a significant factor resulting in a long-time gap,while the higher speed is correlated with a short-time *** results are expected to provide insights into how contributory features affect the time and distance gaps and help decision-makers develop accurate decisions to prevent SCs.

Iso-propagation vortices with OAM-independent size and divergence toward future faster optical communications

Recognized in the 1990s, vortex beams' ability to carry orbital angular momentum(OAM) has significantly contributed to applications in optical manipulation and high-dimensional classical and quantum information communication. However, inherent diffraction in free space results in the inevitable expansion of beam size and divergence contingent upon the OAM, limiting vortex beams' applicability in areas such as spatial mode multiplexing communication, fiber-optic data transmission, and particle manipulation. These domains necessitate vortex beams with OAM-independent propagation *** introduce iso-propagation vortices(IPVs), vortex beams characterized by OAM-independent propagation behavior, achieved through precise radial index configuration of Laguerre–Gaussian beams. IPVs display notable transmission dynamics, including a reduced quality factor, resilience post-damage, and decreased and uniform modal scattering under atmospheric turbulence. Their distinctive attributes render IPVs valuable for potential applications in imaging, microscopy, optical communication, metrology, quantum information processing, and light–matter interactions. Notably, within optical communication, the case study suggests that the IPV basis, due to its OAM-independent propagation behavior, provides access to a more extensive spectrum of data channels compared with conventional spatial multiplexing techniques, consequently augmenting information capacity.

Testicular development is an important biological process in male and requires interaction between the male germ cells and somatic ***,the mechanisms of testicular development in livestock,particularly in cattle,are poorly ***,cellular heterogeneity hinders the profiling of different cell types at different developmental *** this study,we first performed a single-cell transcriptomic study of the bovine testis development during puberty by using 10×genomics single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq).By collecting the scRNA-seq data from 11,083 cells from prepubertal and pubertal bovine testes,a high-resolution scRNA-seq atlas was described,identifying 9 somatic and 13 spermatogenic *** also distinguished several stage-specific marker genes for bovine germ cells and somatic cells,such as GRAF2 and MORC1 for SSC(spermatogonial stem cells),HJURP and TCF19 for differentiating spermatogonia,ARSE for immature Sertoli,CLEC12B for mature Sertoli,LOC112441470 for *** conclusion,we have examined the transcription levels and constructed the single-cell developmental maps of germ cells and somatic cells during testicular development in Angus *** datasets provided new insights into spermatogenesis and testicular somatic cell development in cattle.

Thromboangiitis obliterans(TAO)is a rare,chronic,progressive,and segmental inflammatory disease characterized by a high rate of amputation,significantly compromising the quality of life of ***-Miao-Yong-An decoction(SMYA),a tradition-al prescription,exhibits anti-inflammatory,anti-thrombotic,and various other pharmacological ***,it was fully proved to be effective for TAO therapy,but the specific therapeutic effect of SMYA on TAO has been ***,deep unveiling the mechanism of SMYA in TAO for identifying clinical therapeutic targets is extremely *** this study,we observed elev-ated levels of IL-17A in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs)of TAO patients,whereas the expression of miR-548j-5p was significantly decreased.A negative correlation between the levels of miR-548j-5p and IL-17A was also *** vitro ex-periments showed that overexpression of miR-548j-5p led to a decrease in IL-17A levels,whereas downregulation of miR-548j-5p showed the opposite *** a dual luciferase assay,we confirmed that miR-548j-5p directly targets ***,serum containing SMYA effectively decreased IL-17A levels by increasing the expression of *** importantly,the results of in vivo tests indicated that SMYA mitigated the development of TAO by inhibiting IL-17A through the upregulation of miR-548j-5p in vascular *** conclusion,SMYA significantly enhances the expression of miR-548j-5p,thereby reducing the levels of the target gene IL-17A and alleviating *** research not only identifies novel targets and pathways for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of TAO but also advances the innovation in traditional Chinese medicine through the elucidation of the SMYA/miR-548j-5p/IL-17A regulatory axis in the pathogenesis of TAO.
