Universal Concentration Scaling on Rheometric Properties of Polydisperse and High Molecular Weight Polyacrylamide Aqueous Solutions

A great progress has been made over the last decades in studying concentration scaling on rheometric properties of monodisperse polymer solutions.However,the effects of polydisperse polymer solutions on such a concentration scaling remain elusive.In this work,rheometric properties of industrially relevant polydisperse and high molecular weight polyacrylamide(PAAm)aqueous solution have been studied.The results show a concentration scaling of the characteristic relaxation time,the plateau modulus and the zero-shear viscosity across a concentration range from 10c^(*)to 250c^(*).The time-concentration superposition principle is validated and extended in the data analysis of the terminal dynamic regime.The concentration scaling exponent of their shifting factors is significantly smaller than the results of monodisperse polymer solutions in good andθsolvents reported in the literature.The steady shear viscosity and shear stress of 18M PAAm aqueous solutions with relatively lower concentration(≤35c^(*))could also be superimposed into a master curve with the shear-thinning exponent of 0.73±0.03 and0.27±0.03,respectively,over a wide range of shear rates in about six orders of magnitudes.However,for 18M PAAm aqueous solutions with higher concentration(≥48c^(*))in an intermediate shear thinning regime,the scaling exponent shows a pronounced concentration dependence.The shear thinning exponent of steady shear viscosity varies from 0.73 to 0.57 as concentration is increased,and then increases from 0.57 to 0.90from sufficiently high shear rate.Further increasing shear rate,the shear-thinning exponent of 18M PAAm aqueous solutions at all concentrations converges to the lower bounded value observed in the relatively less concentrated(≤35c^(*))18M PAAm aqueous solutions,i.e.,0.73±0.02 for shear viscosity and 0.27±0.02 for steady shear stress,respectively.It reveals that the concentration effects of polydisperse polymer solutions could be greatly reduced by the dynamic"molecular individualism”in strong shear flow.

Electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction to C2H4supplies an economically viable route for CO_(2) fixation with the integration of intermittent renewable energy.Cu-based catalysts are capable of catalyzing CO_(2) to C_(2)H_(4),while suffering from the high overpotential and low Faradaic efficiency.In this joint experimentalcomputational work,an Ag-assisted carbon-carbon coupling is exploited on Cu-based catalysts.A systematic characterization analysis suggests that an ultralow quantity of Ag atoms in the Cu catalysts motivates electron transfer from Cu to Ag,regulating the electronic state of highly dispersed Ag.Meanwhile,the Ag incorporation provokes the formation of more oxygen defects on the catalyst surface,improving the adsorption and activation of CO_(2) molecules.Density functional theory studies prove the improvement effect of Ag for CO_(2)to COOH^(*).^(*)CO hydrogenation is energetically more favorable than^(*)CO dimerization pathway,and two^(*)CHO dimerization produces^(*)OCHCHO^(*) key intermediates,which greatly reduces the energy barrier for C_(2)H_(4) formation.

Association between the cumulative triglyceride-glucose index and the recurrence of atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency catheter ablation

BACKGROUND Triglyceride-glucose(TyG)index values are a new surrogate marker for insulin resistance.This study aimed to explore the relationship between cumulative TyG index values and atrial fibrillation(AF)recurrence after radiofrequency catheter ablation(RFCA).METHODS A total of 576 patients with AF who underwent RFCA at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University were included in this study.The participants were grouped based on cumulative TyG index values tertiles within 3 months after ablation.Cox regression and restricted cubic spline analyses were used to determine the relationship between cumulative TyG index values and AF recurrence.The predictive value of all risk factors was assessed by receiver operating curve analysis.RESULTS There were 375 patients completed the study(age:63.23±10.73 years,64.27%male).The risk of AF recurrence increased with increasing cumulative TyG index values tertiles.After adjusting for potential confounders,patients in the medium cumulative TyG index group[hazard ratio(HR)=4.949,95%CI:1.778–13.778,P=0.002]and the high cumulative TyG index group(HR=8.716,95%CI:3.371–22.536,P<0.001)had a higher risk of AF recurrence than those in the low cumulative TyG index group.The restricted cubic spline regression model also showed an increased risk of AF recurrence with increasing cumulative TyG index values.When considering cumulative TyG index values,left atrial diameter,and lactate dehydrogenase levels as a comprehensive factor,the model could effectively predict AF recurrence after RFCA[area under the curve(AUC)=0.847,95%CI:0.797–0.897,P<0.001].CONCLUSIONS Cumulative TyG index values were a risk factor for AF recurrence after RFCA.Monitoring longitudinal TyG index values may assist with optimized for risk stratification and outcome prediction for AF recurrence.

According to a study from World Health Organization’s Global Burden of Disease,mental and neurological disorders have accounted for 13%of global diseases in recent years and are on the rise.Neuropsychiatric conditions or neuroinflammatory disorders are linked by the presence of an exaggerated immune response both peripherally and in the central nervous system(CNS).Cognitive dysfunction(CD)encompasses a complex group of diseases and has frequently been described in the field of autoimmune diseases,especially in multiple non-CNS-related autoimmune diseases.Recent studies have provided various hypotheses regarding the occurrence of cognitive impairment in autoimmune diseases,including that abnormally activated immune cells can disrupt the integrity of the blood-brain barrier(BBB)to trigger a central neuroinflammatory response.When the BBB is intact,autoantibodies and pro-inflammatory molecules in peripheral circulation can enter the brain to activate microglia,inducing CNS inflammation and CD.However,the mechanisms explaining the association between the immune system and neural function and their contribution to diseases are uncertain.In this review,we used clinical statistics to illustrate the correlation between CD and autoimmune diseases that do not directly affect the CNS,summarized the clinical features and mechanisms by which autoimmune diseases trigger cognitive impairment,and explored existing knowledge regarding the link between CD and autoimmune diseases from the perspective of the field of neuroimmunology.

Gallbladder carcinosarcoma with a poor prognosis: A case report

BACKGROUND Carcinosarcoma of the gallbladder is a rare malignant tumor with a very poor prognosis.To date,only approximately 100 patients have been reported in the English literature.The prognosis of this tumor type is poor,the preoperative diagnosis is difficult,and there is a possibility of a misdiagnosis.We present an unsuccessful case of carcinosarcoma of the gallbladder with a preoperative misdiagnosis and rapid early postoperative recurrence.Therefore,we have a deeper understanding of the poor prognosis of gallbladder carcinosarcoma(GBC)patients.CASE SUMMARY The patient is a 65-year-old male.He was admitted to the hospital because of right upper abdomen distending pain and discomfort for half a month.Abdominal magnetic resonance imaging revealed a polycystic mass in the right lobe of the liver and the fossa of the gallbladder.After admission,the patient was diagnosed with a liver abscess,which was treated by abscess puncture drainage.Obviously,this treatment was unsuccessful.Hepatectomy and cholecystectomy were performed one month after the puncture.Postoperative pathologic examination revealed carcinosarcoma of the gallbladder,and the resected specimen contained two tumor components.One month after surgery,the patient's tumor recurred in situ and started to compress the duodenum,resulting in duodenal obstruction and bleeding.The treatment was not effective.The patient died of gastrointestinal hemorrhage and hypovolemic shock.CONCLUSION Carcinosarcoma of the gallbladder is a rare malignant tumor that is easily misdiagnosed preoperatively and has a poor prognosis.

Experimental investigation on the gravity driven discharge of cohesive particles from a silo with two outlets

An experimental study on the gravity driven discharge of cohesive particles from a silo with two outlets was performed.The discharge behaviors under the conditions that a single outlet was open and two outlets were open were investigated by varying the moisture content of the particles and the filling height of the particles in the silo.The results show that the discharge rate of the cohesive particles increases gradually at the beginning,then almost keeps constant,and finally drops obviously.The discharge rate in case of two openings is around 1.1–1.6 times that in case of a single opening.Larger filling height leads to lower discharge rate in case of a single opening but results in higher discharge rate in case of two openings.Furthermore,the avalanche dynamics in case of a single opening was examined,and the mixing behavior of the cohesive particles was evaluated.It is observed that the discharge flow is promoted by the avalanche phenomenon in the silo,generating a general trend that the normalized mass of discharge increases with the filling height at higher moisture contents.In case of a single opening,the transition from mass flow to funnel flow favors the particle mixing,resulting in an increasing mixing index as the moisture content increases.In general,a better performance of mixing can be achieved in case of a single opening compared with in case of two openings.This study provides vital information for fundamental understanding of the gravity driven discharge of cohesive particles from the silo with multiple outlets.

In this paper, we consider minimal L^(2) integrals on the sublevel sets of plurisubharmonic functions on weakly pseudoconvex K?hler manifolds with Lebesgue measurable gain related to modules at boundary points of the sublevel sets, and establish a concavity property of the minimal L^(2) integrals. As applications, we present a necessary condition for the concavity degenerating to linearity, a concavity property related to modules at inner points of the sublevel sets, an optimal support function related to modules, a strong openness property of modules and a twisted version, and an effectiveness result of the strong openness property of modules.

High-performance broadband photodetector based on PtSe2/MoS2 heterojunction from visible to near-infrared region

Broadband photodetectors based on narrow bandgap 2D materials have garnered considerable interest for application in the field of optoelectronic devices. However, their large dark current hinders device performance. In this work, a PtSe2/MoS2heterojunction was fabricated for a broadband photodetector operating within the range of visible to near-infrared. The device exhibited suppressed dark currents with a high rectification ratio of 104. The built-in electric field of the heterojunction promoted carrier separation effectively, and the device achieved excellent photoelectric performance with responsivities of 1.7 × 103,27.52, and 21 mA/W at 635, 785, and 1550 nm wavelengths, respectively. Moreover, the specific detectivities(D*) were 2.2 × 1013Jones(635 nm), 3.55 × 1011Jones(785 nm), and 2.72 × 108Jones(1550 nm). The device demonstrated a rise/fall time of 131/241 μs under 1550 nm laser illumination. Visible and near-infrared imaging detection was also demonstrated based on the heterojunction device at room temperature. This work sheds light on the remarkable potential of PtSe2/MoS2heterojunctions in the domain of high-performance broadband photodetectors.

Climatic implications in earlywood and latewood width indices of Chinese pine in north central China

Latewood width(LWW)indices of trees are considered a reliable proxy of summer precipitation in the Northern Hemisphere.However,the strong coupling and high correlation between earlywood width(EWW)and LWW indices often prevent registration of climate signals of the LWW index.In this study,328-year-long earlywood width and latewood width chronologies were developed from Chinese pine at two sites in the Hasi Mountains,north central China.The climate responses of these chronologies were analyzed and the LWW index used to derive sum-mer precipitation signals.Correlation analyses showed that LWW was particularly influenced by earlywood growth and recorded stronger climate signals of the previous year as EWW,rather than those of the current year with infrequent summer climate signals.However,after removing the effect of earlywood growth using a simple regression model,the adjusted LWW chronology(LWW_(adj))showed a strong relationship with July precipitation in dry years.This suggests that the LWW_(adj) chronology has the potential to be used to investigate long-term variability in summer precipitation in drought-limited regions.

The increasingly serious environmental challenges have gradually aroused people's interest in electric vehicles.Over the last decade,governments and automakers have collaborated on the manufacturing of electric vehicles with high performance.Cutting-edge battery technologies are pivotal for the performance of electric vehicles.Zn-air batteries are considered as potential power batteries for electric vehicles due to their high capacity.Zn-air battery researches can be classified into three categories:primary batteries,mechanically rechargeable batteries,and chemically rechargeable batteries.The majority of current studies aim at developing and improving chemically rechargeable and mechanically rechargeable Zn-air batteries.Researchers have tried to use catalytic materials design and device design for Zn-air batteries to make it possible for their applications in electric vehicles.This review will highlight the state-of-the-art in primary batteries,mechanically rechargeable batteries,and chemically rechargeable batteries,revealing the prospects of Zn-air batteries for electric vehicles.
