Immediate Effect of Electro-acupuncture on Endometrial Blood Flow in Patients with Recurrent Implantation Failure:A Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective To investigate the immediate effects of electro-acupuncture(EA)on endometrial blood flow among recurrent implantation failure(RIF)*** Eighty RIF patients,enrolled from March 2022 to December 2022,were randomly allocated into either the EA group(40 cases)or the waiting-list(WL)group(40 cases)by using a random number *** EA group underwent acupuncture at points of Shenting(GV 24),Baihui(GV 4),Benshen(GB 13),bilateral Zigong(EX-CA 1),huangshu(KI 16),Sanyinjiao(SP 6)and Xuehai(SP10),and electric acupuncture apparatus was connected to EX-CA 1,KI 16,SP 6,and SP 10 with disperse-dense waves at 4/20 Hz frequencies for 30 min after transvaginal ultrasound,while the WL group received no *** primary outcome measured was the endometrial volume blood *** secondary outcomes included the bilateral uterine artery index,endometrial volume,endometrial blood flow type,vascular distribution index(VI^(MV))for endometrial and ovary,clinical pregnancy rate,and embryo implantation *** In the EA group,there was a notable decrease in the bilateral pulsatility index and a significant improvement in the endometrial blood flow type post-EA(Plinical pregnancy rate and embryo implantation rate between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05).Besides,no adverse events related to EA were *** EA can promptly ameliorate VI^(MV) for the endometrial and right ovary,and endometrial blood flow *** randomized controlled trials are warranted to investigate the long-term effects of EA on blood flow of RIF patients and its implications for pregnancy outcomes.(Trial registration ***2200057377

Polymer microspheres(PMs),such as polyacrylamide,have been widely applied for enhanced oil recovery(EOR),yet with environmental ***,we report a microfluid displacement technology containing a bio-based eco-friendly material,i.e.,calcium alginate(CaAlg)microspheres for *** dominant mechanisms responsible for EOR over Ca Alg fluid have been verified,including the microscopic oil displacement efficacy augmented by regulating capillary force(determined by the joint action of interfacial tension and wettability between different phases)and macroscopic sweep volume increment through profile control and mobility ratio *** comprehensive effectiveness can be further impacted when the CaAlg microsphere is embellished ulteriorly by using appropriate amount of sodium dodecyl sulfonate(SDS).The core flooding and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)tests demonstrate that CaAlg-SDS microsphere can balance the interphase property regulation(wettability alteration and IFT reduction)and rheology properties,enabling simultaneous profile control and oil *** introduction of SDS will have a negative impact on rheological properties,which is not favored for *** results show that the involvement of 4-m M SDS will provide the best behavior,with an EOR rate of 34.38%.This cost-effective and environmentally-friendly bio-microspherebased microfluidic displacement technology is expected to achieve“green”oil recovery in future oilfield exploitation.

WTV2.0:A high-coverage plant volatilomics method with a comprehensive selective ion monitoring acquisition mode

Volatilomics is essential for understanding the biological functions and fragrance contributions of plant ***,the annotation coverage achieved using current untargeted and widely targeted volatomics(WTV)methods has been limited by low sensitivity and/or low acquisition ***,we introduce WTV 2.0,which enabled the construction of a high-coverage library containing 2111 plant volatiles,and report the development of a comprehensive selective ion monitoring(cSIM)acquisition method,including the selection of characteristic qualitative ions with the minimal ion number for each compound and an optimized segmentation method,that can acquire the smallest but sufficient number of ions for most plant volatiles,as well as the automatic qualitative and semi-quantitative analysis of cSIM ***,the library and acquisition method we developed can be self-expanded by incorporating compounds not present in the library,utilizing the obtained cSIM *** showed that WTV 2.0 increases the median signal-to-noise ratio by 7.6-fold compared with the untargeted method,doubled the annotation coverage compared with the untargeted and WTV 1.0 methods in tomato fruit,and led to the discovery of menthofuran as a novel flavor compound in passion *** 2.0 is a Python library with a user-friendly interface and is applicable to profiling of volatiles and primary metabolites in any species.

Immune-mediated liver injury (Ili) is a condition where an aberrant immune response due to various triggers causes the destruction of hepatocytes. Fibroblast growth factor 4 (FGF4) was recently identified as a hepatoprotective cytokine;however, its role in Ili remains unclear. In patients with autoimmune hepatitis (type of Ili) and mouse models of concanavalin A (ConA)- or S-100-induced Ili, we observed a biphasic pattern in hepatic FGF4 expression, characterized by an initial increase followed by a return to basal levels. Hepatic FGF4 deficiency activated the mitochondria-associated intrinsic apoptotic pathway, aggravating hepatocellular apoptosis. This led to intrahepatic immune hyper-reactivity, inflammation accentuation, and subsequent liver injury in both Ili models. Conversely, administration of recombinant FGF4 reduced hepatocellular apoptosis and rectified immune imbalance, thereby mitigating liver damage. The beneficial effects of FGF4 were mediated by hepatocellular FGF receptor 4, which activated the Ca^(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinasekinase 2 (CaMKKβ) and its downstream phosphatase and tensin homologue-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1)-dependent B-cell lymphoma 2-like protein 1-isoform L (Bcl-XL) signalling axis in the mitochondria. Hence, FGF4 serves as an early response factor and plays a protective role against Ili, suggesting a therapeutic potential of FGF4 and its analogue for treating clinical immune disorder-related liver injuries.

Microvascular structural changes in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma pathology according to intrapapillary capillary loop types under magnifying endoscopy
