Photoactive complexes of nonprecious transition metals, mainly including those in the first-row and partially the second-row of the Periodic table of elements, have received increasing attention in view of their low cost and long-term sustainability. They are recognized as promising alternatives to noble transition metal complex congeners that have been extensively studied in optoelectronic devices, artificial photosynthesis, photocatalysis, biodiagnostics, and therapeutics, etc. This review is devoted to a comprehensive summary on the classical and recent advances on photoactive nonprecious transition metal complexes, including photoactive Zr, V, Cr, mo, and W complexes, Mn complexes and hybrids, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu complexes, and Zn and Cd complexes and hybrids. A particular focus is given on the molecular design, modulation of photophysical and photochemical properties, and applications of the representative and lately-developed nonprecious metal complexes. In addition, a perspective on the future development in this field is provided at the end of this review.

Insights into the mechanism of multiple Cu-doped Co Fe_(2)O_(4)nanocatalyst activated peroxymonosulfate for efficient degradation of Rhodamine B

The multiple metal catalyst as a promising nanomaterial has shown excellent activity in the peroxymonosulfate(PMS)activation for pollutant ***,the role of special sites and in-depth understanding of the PMS activation mechanism are not fully *** this study,a Cu-doped CoFe_(2)O_(4)nanocatalyst(0.5CCF)was synthesized by a sol-gel and calcination method,and used for PMS activation to remove Rhodamine B(RhB).The results showed that the Cu doping obviously enhanced the catalytic performance of CoFe_(2)O_(4),with 99.70%of RhB removed by 0.5CCF while 74.91%in the CoFe_(2)O_(4)within 15 *** on the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electrochemical analysis,this could be ascribed to the more low valence of Co and Fe species generated on the 0.5CCF and faster electron transfers occurred in the 0.5CCF due to the Cu *** addition,Cu doping could provide more reaction sites for the 0.5CCF to activate PMS for RhB *** metal species and the surface hydroxyl were the reaction sites of PMS activation,and the surface hydroxyl played an important role in surface-bound reactive species *** the PMS activation,the Cu not only activated PMS to produce reactive oxygen species(ROS),but also regenerated Co^(2+)and Fe^(2+)to accelerate the PMS *** non-radical of ^(1)O_(2)was the main ROS with a 99.35%of contribution rate,and the SO_(5)^(·–)self-reaction was its major *** study provides a new insight to enhance the PMS activation performance of multiple metal catalysts by Cu doping in wastewater treatment.

Two new cucurbitane triterpenoids from momordica charantia L.

Two new cucurbitane-type triterpenoids,（23E）-5β,19-epoxycucurbita-6,23,25-triene-3β-ol（1） and（19R,23E）-5/β,19-epoxy- 19-ethoxycucurbita-6,23-diene^3β,25-diol（2）,together with three known compounds,have been isolated from the fruit of momordica charantia *** structures were determined on the basis of spectral *** cytotoxic activity was tested on 5 cancer cell lines,MCF-7,HepG2,Dul45,Colon205 and HL-60 by MTT *** 1,3 and 4 showed weak cytotoxicity.

Uniform design ray in the assessment of combined toxicities of multi-component mixtures

Multi-component mixture(MCM) is a complicated chemical system that contains a great deal of mixture rays with various mixture ratios, and each ray includes many mixtures with different concentration ***, in combined toxicity field, almost all studies on MCM focus on the mixtures designed by the equivalenteffect concentration ratio(EECR) procedure. However, the EECR mixtures cannot represent the whole mixture system because the EECR mixtures are located on one mixture ray in concentration space formed by multiple components. In our view, some optimal experimental design such as the uniform design(UD) should be used to effectively select many representative mixture rays from the MCM system,instead of single EECR ray. The uniform design ray(UDray) integrating UD idea with fixed-ratio ray design can systematically and comprehensively measure the combined toxicity changes in the MCM system. This review introduces the operation method, construction of uniform table and corresponding usable table, and some cases of application of the UD-ray to help readers easily use UD-ray in their MCM toxicity assessment.

PsmArena:Partitioned Shared Memory for NUMA-Awareness in Multithreaded Scientific Applications

The Distributed Shared Memory(DSM)architecture is widely used in today’s computer design to mitigate the ever-widening processing-memory gap,and it inevitably exhibits Non-Uniform Memory Access(NUMA)to shared-memory parallel *** to adapt to the NUMA effect can significantly downgrade application performance,especially on today’s manycore platforms with tens to hundreds of ***,traditional approaches such as first-touch and memory policy fall short in false page-sharing,fragmentation,or ease of *** this paper,we propose a partitioned shared-memory approach that allows multithreaded applications to achieve full NUMA-awareness with only minor code changes and develop an accompanying NUMA-aware heap manager which eliminates false page-sharing and minimizes *** on a 256-core cc-NUMA computing node show that the proposed approach helps applications to adapt to NUMA with only minor code changes and improves the performance of typical multithreaded scientific applications by up to 4.3 folds with the increased use of cores.

Solitonic Diffusion of Wavepackets in One-Dimensional Bose–Einstein Condensates

The depression mechanism of sulfite ions on sphalerite and Pb^(2+)activated sphalerite in the flotation separation of galena from sphalerite still lacked in-depth ***,the depression mechanism of sulfite ions on sphalerite and Pb^(2+)activated sphalerite in the flotation separation of galena from sphalerite was further systematically investigated with experiments and density functional theory(DFT)*** X-ray photoelectric spectroscopy(XPS)results,DFT calculation results,and frontier molecular orbital analysis indicated that sulfite ions were difficult to be adsorbed on sphalerite surface,suggesting that sulfite ions achieved depression effects on sphalerite through other non-adsorption ***,the oxygen content in the surface of sphalerite treated with sulfite ions in creased,which enhanced the hydrophilicity of the sphalerite and further increased the difference in hydrophilicity between sphalerite and ***,sulfite ions were chelated with lead ions to form PbSO_(3)in *** hydrophilic PbSO_(3)was more easily adsorbed on sphalerite than *** interaction between sulfite ions and lead ions could effectively inhibit the activation of *** addition the UV spectrum showed that after adding sulfite ions,the peak of perxanthate in the sphalerite treated xanthate solution was significantly stronger than that in the galena with xanthate solution,indicating that xanthate interacted more readily with sulfite ions and oxygen mo lecules within the sphalerite system,leading to the formation of ***,sulfite ions hardly depressed the flotation of ga lena and could promote the flotation of galena to some *** study deepened the understanding of the depression mechanism o sulfite ions on sphalerite and Pb^(2+)activated sphalerite.
