Nanostructured surfaces with dimensions on a scale of a few millimeters exhibit remarkable *** geometry of these nanostructures considerably affects their ***,determining the optimal geometry is challenging due to the abundance of geometry parameters and the difficulty in numerically describing their effects on wettability at the mesoscopic *** addition,the fabrication of nanostructured surfaces with precise geometries is *** establish a lattice Boltzmann method(LBM)model to address these *** use the model to gain mesoscopic insights into the interaction between droplets and *** model can accurately reproduce contact angles(CAs)on various nanostructured surfaces and enables investigation of the effects of nanostructure geometry on *** optimize the geometry of the nanostructures using the insights provided by the LBM model on the wettability *** analysis indicates that cones with dimensions of 40μm in width and 33μm in height exhibit the highest *** successfully fabricate a superhydrophobic surface with the desired geometry via laser scanning,achieving a CA of 163°.We believe that this approach,which combines the LBM model and laser manufacturing,will enable a better understanding of the wettability mechanism and provide a high-performance approach for fabricating superhydrophobic surfaces.

This paper studies the upper bound for finite-time ruin probability of an insurance company which invests its wealth in a stock and a bond. The authors assume that the interest rate of the bond and the volatility of the stock are modulated by a continuous-time stationary Markov chain with finite state. By a pure probabilistic method, the upper bound for the finite-time ruin probability is obtained.

Combining water electrolysis and rechargeable battery technologies into a single system holds great promise for the co-production of hydrogen （H2） and ***,the design and development of such systems is still in its ***,an integrated hydrogen-oxygen （O2）-electricity co-production system featuring a bipolar membrane-assisted decoupled electrolyzer and a Na-Zn ion battery was established with sodium nickelhexacyanoferrate （NaNiHCF） and Zn2+/Zn as dual redox *** decoupled electrolyzer enables to produce H2and O2in different time and space with almost 100%Faradaic efficiency at 100 mA ***,the charged NaNiHCF and Zn electrodes after the electrolysis processes formed a Na-Zn ion battery,which can generate electricity with an average cell voltage of 1.75 V at 10 m A *** connecting Si photovoltaics with the modular electrochemical device,a well-matched solar driven system was built to convert the intermittent solar energy into hydrogen and electric energy with a solar to hydrogen-electricity efficiency of 16.7%,demonstrating the flexible storage and conversion of renewables.

This paper considers the problem about optimization of proportional reinsurance in the setting of diffusion models. The authors take into account non-cheap proportional reinsurance and bankruptcy value simultaneously. The objective is to find the risk control policies which maximize the total discounted reserve and the bankruptcy value. Results show that, the optimal risk control policies and corresponding optimal return functions vary, depending both on the range of bankruptcy value and the relationship between the premium rate of insurance and that of reinsurance.

This article takes the“A Medical Handbook”as an example to try to reveal how Western missionaries and Chinese translators jointly translated Western medical knowledge when it was introduced into the East during the 19th *** this process,the fusion of Chinese and Western medical knowledge led to the Chinese version of A Medical *** only did Western missionaries unilaterally promote their medical knowledge,but Chinese local elites also played an indispensable role in the dissemination of Western medical *** the early days of Western knowledge spreading into China,Western medical knowledge was incorporated into the knowledge pedigree of traditional Chinese medicine to a certain extent,which enabled the Chinese public to accept the use of Western *** collision between Chinese and Western cultures at the level of medical knowledge affected the integration of Western medical knowledge systems into the local Chinese medical knowledge system.

Modified arterialization of orthotopic liver transplantation in a mouse model

BACKGROUND: With the establishment of genetically modified and gene knock-out models, the mouse has become an important animal model for liver transplantation. We examined hepatic rearterialization after liver transplantation in a mouse model. METHODS: Orthotopic liver transplantation was performed in 70 mice and sham-operation was performed in a control group of 40 mice. Based on the 'two-cuff' method, a continuous suture approach was applied to the suprahepatic inferior vena cava and a cuff approach to the portal vein and the infrahepatic inferior vena cava. A biliary stent was inserted into the bile duct. The hepatic artery was reconstructed with end-to-side anastomosis. The survival rate of recipients was monitored at 24 hours, one week, and one month after the operation. Liver function and morphology were evaluated one month postoperatively. RESULTS: Postoperative survival rates were 94.3% at 24 hours, 91.4% at one week, and 85.7% at one month. No significant difference was seen between the experimental and control groups in liver function. The hepatic tissue preserved normal structure. CONCLUSION: Owing to its high survival rate and stability, this surgical approach is ideal for establishing an orthotopic liver transplantation mouse model with hepatic artery reconstruction. NO (nitric oxide), known as a key signal molecule in plant, plays important roles in regulation of stomatal movement. In this study, microtubule dynamics and its possible mechanism in the NO signal pathway were investigated. The results were as follows: (i) In vivo stomatal aperture assays revealed that both vinblastine (microtubule-disrupting drug) and SNP (exogenous NO donor) prevented stomatal opening in the light, and vinblastine even could enhance the inhibitory effect of SNP, whereas taxol (a microtubule-stabilizing agent) was able to reduce this effect; (ii) microtubules in the opening Arabi- dopsis guard cells expressing GFP:α-tubulin-6 (AtGFP:α-tubulin-6) were organized in parallel, straight and dense bundles, radiating from the ventral side to the dorsal side, and most of them were localized perpendicularly to the ventral wall; (iii) under the same environmental conditions, treated with SNP for 30 min, the radial arrays of microtubules in guard cells began to break down, twisted partially and be- came oblique or exhibited a random pattern; (iv) furthermore, the involvement of cytosolic Ca2+ in this event was tested. Stomatal aperture assays revealed that BAPTA-AM (a chelator of Ca2+) greatly sup- pressed the effect of NO on stomatal closure; however, it did not show the same function on stomatal closure induced by vinblastine. When BAPTA-AM was added to the SNP-pretreated solution, the SNP-induced disordered microtubulue cytoskeleton in guard cells underwent rearrangement in a time-dependent manner. After 30 min of treatment with BAPTA-AM, the cortical microtubules resumed the original radial distribution, almost the same as the control. All this indicates that NO may promote rearrangement of microtubule cytoskeleton via elevation of [Ca2+]cyt (free Ca2+ concentration in the cy- toplasm), finally leading to stomatal closure.

The Michelson Interferometer for Global High-resolution Thermospheric Imaging(MIGHTI)onboard the Ionospheric Connection Explorer(ICON)satellite offers the opportunity to investigate the altitude profile of thermospheric *** this study,we used the red-line measurements of MIGHTI to compare with the results estimated by Horizontal Wind Model 14(HWM14).The data selected included both the geomagnetic quiet period(December 2019 to August 2022)and the geomagnetic storm on August 26-28,*** the geomagnetic quiet period,the estimations of neutral winds from HWM14 showed relatively good agreement with the observations from *** to the ICON observations,near the equator,zonal winds reverse from westward to eastward at around 06:00 local time(LT)at higher altitudes,and the stronger westward winds appear at later LTs at lower *** around 16:00 LT,eastward winds at 300 km reverse to westward,and vertical gradients of zonal winds similar to those at sunrise hours can be *** the middle latitudes,zonal winds reverse about 2-4 h *** winds vary more significantly than zonal winds with seasonal and latitudinal *** to the ICON observations,in the northern low latitudes,vertical reversals of meridional winds are found at 08:00-13:00 LT from 300 to 160 km and at around 18:00 LT from 300 to 200 km during the June *** reversals of meridional winds are found at 04:00-07:00 LT from 300 to 160 km and at 22:00-02:00 LT from 270 to 200 km during the December *** the southern low latitudes,meridional wind reversals occur at 08:00-11:00 LT from 200 to 160 km and at 21:00-02:00 LT from 300 to 200 km during the June *** the December solstice,reversals of the meridional wind appear at 20:00-01:00 LT below 200 km and at 06:00-11:00 LT from 300 to 160 *** the northern middle latitudes,the northward winds are dominant at 08:00-14:00 LT at 230 km during the June *** winds persist until
