Superhydrophobic and corrosion-resistant siloxane-modified MgAl-LDHs coatings on magnesium alloy prepared under mild conditions

We have developed a superhydrophobic and corrosion-resistant LDH-W/PFDTMS composite coating on the surface of Mg *** composite comprised a tungstate-intercalated(LDH-W)underlayer that was grown at low temperature(relative to hydrothermal reaction conditions)under atmospheric pressure and an outer polysiloxane layer created from a solution containing perfluorodecyltrimethoxysilane(PFDTMS)using a simple immersion *** successful intercalation of tungstate into the LDH phase and the following formation of the polysiloxane layer were confirmed through X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The corrosion resistance of the LDH-W film,both before and after the PFDTMS modification,was evaluated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),Tafel curves,and immersion *** results showed that Mg coated with LDH-W/PFDTMS exhibited significantly enhanced corrosion protection compared to the unmodified LDHW film,with no apparent signs of corrosion after exposure to 3.5wt%NaCl solution for 15 ***,the LDH-W/PFDTMS coating demonstrated superior superhydrophobicity and self-cleaning properties against water and several common beverages,as confirmed by static contact angle and water-repellency *** results offer valuable insights into preparing superhydrophobic and corrosion-resistant LDH-based composite coatings on Mg alloy surfaces under relatively mild reaction conditions.

Tuning the interfacial reaction environment via pH-dependent and induced ions to understand C–N bonds coupling performance in NO3- integrated CO2 reduction to carbon and nitrogen compounds over dual Cu-based N-doped carbon catalyst

Dual atomic catalysts （DAC）,particularly copper （Cu2）-based nitrogen （N） doped graphene,show great potential to effectively convert CO2and nitrate （NO3-） into important industrial chemicals such as ethylene,glycol,acetamide,and urea through an efficient catalytical process that involves C–C and C–N ***,the origin of the coupling activity remained unclear,which substantially hinders the rational design of Cu-based catalysts for the N-integrated CO2reduction reaction （CO2RR）.To address this challenge,this work performed advanced density functional theory calculations incorporating explicit solvation based on a Cu2-based N-doped carbon (Cu2N6C10) catalyst for *** calculations are aimed to gain insight into the reaction mechanisms for the synthesis of ethylene,acetamide,and urea via coupling in the interfacial reaction *** to the sluggishness of CO2,the formation of a solvation electric layer by anions （F-,Cl-,Br-,and I-） and cations (Na+,Mg2+,K+,and Ca2+) leads to electron transfer towards the Cu *** process significantly accelerates the reduction of *** results reveal that*CO intermediates play a pivotal role in N-integrated ***,the Cu2-based N-doped carbon catalyst examined in this study has demonstrated the most potential for C–N coupling to *** findings reveal that through the process of a condensation reaction between*CO and NH2OH for urea synthesis,*NO3-is reduced to*NH3,and*CO2to*CCO at dual Cu atom *** dual-site reduction facilitates the synthesis of acetamide through a nucleophilic reaction between NH3and the ketene ***,we found that the I-and Mg2+ions,influenced by pH,were highly effective for acetamide and ammonia synthesis,except when F-and Ca2+were ***,the mechanisms of C–N bond formation were investigated via ab-initio molecular dynamics simulations,and we found that adjusting the micro-environment can change the dominant side reaction,shift

Modeling and Analysis of a Micromotor with an Electrostatically Levitated Rotor

The modeling and evaluation of a prototype rotary micromotor where the annular rotor is supported electrostatically in five degrees of freedom is presented in order to study the behavior of this levitated micromotor and further optimize the device geometry. The analytical torque model is obtained based on the principle of a planar variable-capacitance electrostatic motor while the viscous damping caused by air film between the stator and rotor is derived using laminar Couette flow model. Simulation results of the closed-loop drive motor, based on the developed dynamic model after eliminating mechanical friction torque via electrostatic suspension, are presented. The effects of the high-voltage drive, required for rotation of the rotor, on overload capacity and suspension stiffness of the electrostatic bearing system are also analytically evaluated in an effort to determine allowable drive voltage and attainable rotor speed in operation. The analytical results show that maximum speed of the micromotor is limited mainly by viscous drag torque and stiffness of the bearing system. Therefore, it is expected to operate the device in vacuum so as to increase the rotor speed significantly, especially for those electrostatically levitated micromotors to be used as an angular rate micro-gyroscope.

LINEAR REGRESSION OF INTERVAL-VALUED DATA BASED ON COMPLETE INFORMATION IN HYPERCUBES

Recent years have witnessed an increasing interest in interval-valued data analysis. As one of the core topics, linear regression attracts particular attention. It attempts to model the relationship between one or more explanatory variables and a response variable by fitting a linear equation to the interval-valued observations. Despite of the well-known methods such as CM, CRM and CCRM proposed in the literature, further study is still needed to build a regression model that can capture the complete information in interval-valued observations. To this end, in this paper, we propose the novel Complete Information Method （CIM） for linear regression modeling. By dividing hypercubes into informative grid data, CIM defines the inner product of interval-valued variables, and transforms the regression modeling into the computation of some inner products. Experiments on both the synthetic and real-world data sets demonstrate the merits of CIM in modeling interval-valued data, and avoiding the mathematical incoherence introduced by CM and CRM.

Investigation of cavitation erosion caused by laser-induced single bubble collapse near alloy coating surface

To investigate the mechanism of cavitation erosion caused by laser-induced single bubble near the surface coating alloy coating material, we utilized a nanosecond resolution photography system based on a Q-switched Nd: YAG laser and conventional industrial camera to carefully observe the transient process of bubble collapse under different conditions. We analyzed the generation of collapse microjets and the emission of collapse shock waves and explored the cavitation erosion characteristics caused by laser-induced single bubble collapse. We discovered that even on surfaces of highly hard and corrosion-resistant alloy coatings, severe cavitation erosion occurred, and there was a phenomenon of mismatch between the cavitation erosion location and the bubble projection position. The intensity of cavitation erosion depended on the energy self-focusing effect of the collapse shockwaves. In the experiments, we also observed the self-focusing phenomenon of collapse shockwaves under different conditions. The self-focusing effect of collapse shockwaves weakened as the distance between the bubble and the material surface increased, which may be the cause of cavitation erosion induced by a laser-induced single bubble.

Replacing PVP by macrocycle cucurbit[6]uril to cap sub-5 nm Pd nanocubes as highly active and durable catalyst for ethanol electrooxidation

Multi-layer multi-pass friction rolling additive manufacturing of Al alloy:Toward complex large-scale high-performance components

At present,the emerging solid-phase friction-based additive manufacturing technology,including friction rolling additive man-ufacturing(FRAM),can only manufacture simple single-pass *** this study,multi-layer multi-pass FRAM-deposited alumin-um alloy samples were successfully prepared using a non-shoulder tool *** material flow behavior and microstructure of the over-lapped zone between adjacent layers and passes during multi-layer multi-pass FRAM deposition were studied using the hybrid 6061 and 5052 aluminum *** results showed that a mechanical interlocking structure was formed between the adjacent layers and the adja-cent passes in the overlapped center *** friction and rolling of the tool head led to different degrees of lateral flow and plastic deformation of the materials in the overlapped zone,which made the recrystallization degree in the left and right edge zones of the over-lapped zone the highest,followed by the overlapped center zone and the non-overlapped *** tensile strength of the overlapped zone exceeded 90%of that of the single-pass deposition *** is proved that although there are uneven grooves on the surface of the over-lapping area during multi-layer and multi-pass deposition,they can be filled by the flow of materials during the deposition of the next lay-er,thus ensuring the dense microstructure and excellent mechanical properties of the overlapping *** multi-layer multi-pass FRAM deposition overcomes the limitation of deposition width and lays the foundation for the future deposition of large-scale high-performance components.

Using pipette tips to readily generate spheroids comprising single or multiple cell types

Three-dimensional(3D)cell culture methods have been validated that can replicate the tumor environment in vivo to a large extent,providing an effective tool for studying *** this study,we demonstrated the use of standard laboratory pipette tips as micro vessels for generating 3D cell *** microfabrication or wet-chemistry surface modifications were involved in the *** consisting of single or multiple cell types were generated within 24 h just by pipetting and incubating a cell suspension in pipette *** electron microscope and optical microscope proved that the cells grew together tightly,and suggested that while gravity force might have initiated the sedimentation of cells at the bottom of the tip,the active aggregation of cells to form tight cell-cell interactions drove the formation of *** common laboratory micropipettes and pipette tips,the rate of spheroid generation and the generation reproducibility was characterized from five boxes each with 80 *** ease of transferring reagents allowed modeling of the growth of microvascular endothelial cells in tumor ***,the pairing and fusion of tumor spheroids could be manipulated in the pipette tips,suggesting the potential for building and assembling heterogeneous micro-tumor tissues in vitro to mimic solid tumors in *** study demonstrated that spheroids can be readily and cost-effectively generated in standard biological laboratories in a timely manner using pipette tips.

Clutter suppression for hypersonic vehicle-borne radar with frequency diverse array

The seriously range-ambiguous clutter is one of the main problems in clutter suppression for hypersonic vehicle-borne forward-looking radar. An approach based on the frequency diverse array (FDA) technique is proposed to mitigate the range ambiguous clutter. The frequency increment is designed to distinguish the clutter at ambiguous ranges and suppress the clutter by using a subspace projection algorithm. On the platform with high altitude or limited array antennas, the proposed method performs better for its independence of the elevation degrees-of-freedom (DOF). Finally, simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
