Liquid phase epitaxy （LPE） is a mature technology. Early experiments on single magnetic crystal films fabricated by LPE were focused mainly on thick films for microwave and magneto-optical devices. The LPE is an excellent way to make a thick film, low damping magnetic garnet film and high-quality magneto-optical material. Today, the principal challenge in the applied material is to create sub-micrometer devices by using modern photolithography technique. Until now the magnetic garnet films fabricated by LPE still show the best quality even on a nanoscale （about 100 nm）, which was considered to be impossible for LPE method.

A quantitative multi-phase-field model for non-isothermal and polycrystalline solidification was developed and applied to dilute multicomponent alloys with hexagonal close-packed *** effects of Lewis coefficient and undercooling on dendrite growth were investigated *** show that large Lewis coefficients facilitate the release of the latent heat,which can accelerate the dendrite growth while suppress the dendrite tip *** greater the initial undercooling,the stronger the driving force for dendrite growth,the faster the growth rate of dendrites,the higher the solid fraction,and the more serious the solute *** simulated dendrite growth dynamics are consistent with predictions from the phenomenological theory but significantly deviate from the classical JMAK theory which neglects the soft collision effect and mutual blocking among ***,taking the Mg-6Gd-2Zn(wt.%)alloy as an example,the simulated dendrite morphology shows good agreement with experimental results.

Background Conventional treatment for non-small cell lung cancer （NSCLC） brain metastases （BM） is whole-brain radiotherapy （WBRT）. The efficacy is limited. It might be increased by a potent radiosensitizer such as gemcitabine, which is believed to cross the disrupted blood-brain barrier. The primary objective of this study was to determine the maximum tolerated dose （MTD） of weekly gemcitabine given concurrently with WBRT. Methods Patients with BM from NSCLC were included. The dose of WBRT was 3750 cGy （total 15 times, 3 weeks）. Gemcitabine was given concurrently with WBRT on days 1, 8 and 15. The starting dose was 400 mg/m^2, escalated by 100 mg/m^2 increments. At least three patients were included per level. Dose limiting toxicity （DLT） was defined as grade 4 hematological or grade 2 neurological toxicity. When two or more patients experience DLT, the MTD was reached. Results A total of 16 patients were included; 69% had a performance status （PS） 1 （Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, ECOG）. A total of 69% had concurrent active extra cranial diseases. All had more than 3 BM. Up to 600 mg/m^2 （level 3） no neurology toxicity was observed. At 600 mg/m^2 two out of 9 patients developed grade 4 thrombocytopenia. One of the two patients＇ thrombocytopenia was confused with disseminated intravascular coagulation （DIC）. At 700 mg/m^2 two out of 4 patients developed neurotoxicities. One developed grade 3 seizure and cognitive disorder. Another patient developed suspected grade 2 muscle weakness. Conclusions The MTD was reached at a dose of 700 mg/m^2. The dose of 600 mg/m^2 would be considered for further study.

BiVO_(4)porous spheres modified by ZnO were designed and synthesized using a facile two-step *** resulting ZnO/BiVO_(4)composite catalysts have shown remarkable efficiency as piezoelectric catalysts for degrading Rhodamine B(RhB)unde mechanical vibrations,they exhibit superior activity compared to pure *** 40wt%ZnO/BiVO_(4)heterojunction composite displayed the highest activity,along with good stability and *** enhanced piezoelectric catalytic activity can be attributed to the form ation of an I-scheme heterojunction structure,which can effectively inhibit the electron-hole ***,hole(h+)and superoxide radical(·O_(2)^(-))are proved to be the primary active ***,ZnO/BiVO_(4)stands as an efficient and stable piezoelectric catalyst with broad potential application in the field of environmental water pollution treatment.

Although solar steam generation strategy is efficient in desalinating seawater,it is still challenging to achieve continuous solar-thermal desalination of seawater and catalytic degradation of organic ***,dynamic regulations of hydrogen bonding networks and solvation structures are realized by designing an asymmetric bilayer membrane consisting of a bacterial cellulose/carbon nanotube/Co_(2)(OH)_(2)CO_(3)nanorod top layer and a bacterial cellulose/Co_(2)(OH)_(2)CO_(3)nanorod(BCH)bottom ***,the hydrogen bonding networks inside the membrane can be tuned by the rich surface–OH groups of the bacterial cellulose and Co_(2)(OH)_(2)CO_(3)as well as the ions and radicals in situ generated during the catalysis ***,both SO_(4)^(2−)and HSO_(5)−can regulate the solvation structure of Na^(+)and be adsorbed more preferentially on the evaporation surface than Cl^(−),thus hindering the de-solvation of the solvated Na^(+)and subsequent nucleation/growth of ***,the heat generated by the solar-thermal energy conversion can accelerate the reaction kinetics and enhance the catalytic degradation *** work provides a flow-bed water purification system with an asymmetric solar-thermal and catalytic membrane for synergistic solar thermal desalination of seawater/brine and catalytic degradation of organic pollutants.

Mechanism Study on the Effect of Retarder on Polyurethane Setting Time Based on Molecular Simulation

This study identified castor oil and phosphate ester as effective retarders through setting time,tensile,and flexural tests,and determined their optimal *** mechanism by which phosphate ester affects the setting time of polyurethane was further investigated using molecular dynamics *** transform infrared spectroscopy was also employed to systematically study the physical and chemical interactions between phosphate esters and polyurethane *** results demonstrate that a 1%concentration of phosphate ester provides the most effective retarding effect with minimal impact on the strength of *** phosphate ester is added to the B component of the two-component polyurethane system,its interaction energy with component A decreases,as do the diffusion coefficient and aggregation degree of component B on the surface of component *** reduction in interaction slows the setting ***,the addition of phosphate ester to polyurethane leads to the disappearance or weakening of functional groups,indicating competitive interactions within the phosphate ester components that inhibit the reaction rate.

Broadband and perfect terahertz absorber based on multilayer metamaterial using cross-ring patterned structures is proposed and investigated. The structure of the absorber is double absorption layers consisting of a chromium cross ring and eight isosceles right triangles. The unique structure of the double absorbing layers excites the electric dipole multimode resonance, giving rise to high absorption performance. Meanwhile, the influence of construal parameters on absorber behavior is also discussed. The numerical results show that the absorption achieves over 90% ranging from 2.45 THz to 6.25 THz and 99% absorption in the range of 3.7—5.3 THz. The realization of broadband and perfect absorber is described using the impedance matching principle. It is obviously found that the absorber is insensitive to the high angle of incidence for both transverse electric(TE) and transverse magnetic(TM) polarizations. Compared with the former reports, this absorber has remarkable improved absorption efficiency and smaller period. The terahertz absorber may be found applications in the fields of energy capture and thermal detection.
