The interfacial adhesion between microstructures is inevitable in a micro-electro-mechanical system(e.g.,hard disk drive(HDD)),which may lead to complicated microtribodynamics problems.This research has investigated the effect of surface potential on the interfacial adhesion and microtribodynamics of the head–disk interface(HDI)in an HDD.A dynamic continuum surface force model,where the electrowetting is considered,is proposed to evaluate the interfacial interaction,and then employed into a two-degree-of-freedom(2DOF)model to theoretically analyze the potential influence mechanism on the microtribodynamics.The results confirm that the elimination of potential can effectively repress the adhesion retention,which is further proved by the measured slider response with a laser Doppler vibrometer(LDV).Moreover,the effect of the potential on the adhesion-induced instability is also analyzed through the phase portrait.It tells that the critical stable flying height can be lowered with the elimination of potential.

Changes in ambient temperature profoundly affect plant growth and performance.Therefore,the molecu-larbasis of plant acclimation to temperature fluctuation is of great interest.In this study,we discovered that GLYCINE-RICH RNA-BINDING PROTEIN 7(GRP7)contributes to cold and heat tolerance in Arabidopsis thaliana.We found that exposure to a warm temperature rapidly induces GRP7 condensates in planta,which can be reversed by transfer to a lower temperature.Cell biology and biochemical assays revealed that GRP7 undergoes liquid-liquid phase separation(LLPS)in vivo and in vitro.LLPS of GRP7 in the cyto-plasm contributes to the formation of stress granules that recruit RNA,along with the translation machinery component eukaryotic initiation factor 4E1(elF4E1)and the mRNA chaperones COLD SHOCK PROTEIN 1(CSP1)and CSP3,to inhibit translation.Moreover,natural variations in GRP7 affecting the residue phos-phorylated by the receptorkinase FERONIA alter its capacity to undergo LLPS and correlate with the adap-tation of some Arabidopsis accessions to a widertemperature range.Taken together,ourfindings illustrate the role of translational control mediated by GRP7 LLPS to confer plants with temperature resilience.

Background: Glycine dehydrogenase(GLDC) plays an important role in the initiation and proliferation of several human cancers. In this study, we aimed to detect the methylation status of GLDC promoter and its diagnostic value for hepatitis B virus-associated hepatocellular carcinoma(HBV-HCC). Methods: We enrolled 197 patients, 111 with HBV-HCC, 51 with chronic hepatitis B(CHB), and 35 healthy controls(HCs). The methylation status of GLDC promoter in peripheral mononuclear cells(PBMCs) was identified by methylation specific polymerase chain reaction(MSP). The mRNA expression was examined using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(q PCR). Results: The methylation frequency of the GLDC promoter was significantly lower in HBV-HCC patients(27.0%) compared to that in CHB patients(68.6%) and HCs(74.3%)( P < 0.001). The methylated group had lower alanine aminotransferase level( P = 0.035) and lower rates of tumor node metastasis(TNM) Ⅲ/Ⅳ( P = 0.043) and T3/T4( P = 0.026). TNM stage was identified to be an independent factor for GLDC promoter methylation. GLDC mRNA levels in CHB patients and HCs were significantly lower than those in HBV-HCC patients( P = 0.022 and P < 0.001, respectively). GLDC mRNA levels were significantly higher in HBV-HCC patients with unmethylated GLDC promoters than those with methylated GLDC promoters( P = 0.003). The diagnostic accuracy of alpha-fetoprotein(AFP) combined with GLDC promoter methylation for HBV-HCC was improved compared with that of AFP alone(AUC: 0.782 vs. 0.630, P < 0.001). In addition, GLDC promoter methylation was an independent predictor for overall survival of HBV-HCC patients( P = 0.038). Conclusions: The methylation frequency of GLDC promoter was lower in PBMCs from HBV-HCC patients than that from patients with CHB and HCs. The combination of AFP and GLDC promoter hypomethylation significantly improved the diagnostic accuracy of HBV-HCC.

Objective Little is known about the association between whole-blood nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD^(+))levels and nabothian cysts.This study aimed to assess the association between NAD^(+)levels and nabothian cysts in healthy Chinese women.Methods Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to analyze the association between NAD^(+)levels and nabothian cysts.Results The mean age was 43.0±11.5 years,and the mean level of NAD^(+)was 31.3±5.3μmol/L.Nabothian cysts occurred in 184(27.7%)participants,with single and multiple cysts in 100(15.0%)and84(12.6%)participants,respectively.The total nabothian cyst prevalence gradually decreased from37.4%to 21.6%from Q1 to Q4 of NAD^(+)and the prevalence of single and multiple nabothian cysts also decreased across the NAD^(+)quartiles.As compared with the highest NAD^(+)quartile(≥34.4μmol/L),the adjusted odds ratios with 95%confidence interval of the NAD^(+)Q1 was 1.89(1.14–3.14)for total nabothian cysts.The risk of total and single nabothian cysts linearly decreased with increasing NAD^(+)levels,while the risk of multiple nabothian cysts decreased more rapidly at NAD^(+)levels of 28.0 to35.0μmol/L.Conclusion:Low NAD^(+)levels were associated with an increased risk of total and multiple nabothian cysts.

Effects of BN on the Mechanical and Thermal Properties of PP/BN Composites

In order to explore the thermal conductivity of polypropylene(PP)/hexagonal boron nitride(BN) composites,PP composites filled with different proportions of BN were prepared through extrution compounding,injection moulding and compression moulding.The composites were filled with BN particles of 5 and 20 μm respectively,and their mass fractions in composites were considered.Percentage of BN was varied from 0 to 25wt% in steps of 5wt%.The effects of BN filler on mechanical properties of the composites were evaluated.The thermal behaviors were studied using DSC and TGA,and the thermal conductivity was also investigated by Laser Flash Device and the Model of 3D Heat Conduction respectively.The experimental results show that impact strength of PP/BN can be enhanced with the addition of BN,but that composites exhibit lower breaking elongation & tensile strength when compared to unfilled ones.It is found that mass fraction of BN influenced the final thermal stability and degree of crystallization of PP matrix,the degree of crystallization of PP with 15wt% of 20 μm BN can be improved by 25% than neat PP.Meanwhile,crystallization temperatures of PP composites are elevated by about 10 ℃.The thermal conductivity results demonstrate that the maximum value of the thermal conductivity is achieved from PP/BN with 20wt% of 20 μm BN,higher than that of pure PP by 95.65%,close to the simulation one.

The Guxiang-Tongmai segment of the Jiali fault is situated northeast of the Namche Barwa Syntaxis in northeastern Tibet.It is one of the most active strike-slip faults near the syntaxis and plays a pivotal role in the examination of seismic activity within the eastern Himalayan Syntaxis.New study in the research region has yielded a 1:200000 gravity dataset covering an area 1500 km^(2).Using wavelet transform multiscale decomposition,scratch analysis techniques,and 3D gravity inversion methods,gravity anomalies,fault distributions,and density structures were determined across various scales.Through the integration of our new gravity data with other geophysical and geological information,our findings demonstrate substantial variations in the overall crustal density within the region,with the fault distribution closely linked to these density fluctuations.Disparities in stratigraphic density are important causes of variations in the capacity of geological formations to endure regional tectonic stress.Earthquakes are predominantly concentrated within the density transition zone and are primarily situated in regions of elevated density.The hanging wall stress within the Guxiang-Tongmai segment of the Jiali fault exhibits a notable concentration,marked by pronounced anisotropy,and is positioned within the density differential zone,which is prone to earthquakes.

Interactive holography offers unmatched levels of immersion and user engagement in the field of future display.Despite of the substantial progress has been made in dynamic meta-holography,the realization of real-time,highly smooth interactive holography remains a significant challenge due to the computational and display frame rate limitations.In this study,we introduced a dynamic interactive bitwise meta-holography with ultra-high computational and display frame rates.To our knowledge,this is the first reported practical dynamic interactive metasurface holographic system.We spa-tially divided the metasurface device into multiple distinct channels,each projecting a reconstructed sub-pattern.The switching states of these channels were mapped to bitwise operations on a set of bit values,which avoids complex holo-gram computations,enabling an ultra-high computational frame rate.Our approach achieves a computational frame rate of 800 kHz and a display frame rate of 23 kHz on a low-power Raspberry Pi computational platform.According to this methodology,we demonstrated an interactive dynamic holographic Tetris game system that allows interactive gameplay,color display,and on-the-fly hologram creation.Our technology presents an inspiration for advanced dynamic meta-holography,which is promising for a broad range of applications including advanced human-computer interaction,real-time 3D visualization,and next-generation virtual and augmented reality systems.

Background and purpose Clinical studies have demonstrated that edaravone dexborneol can improve the functional outcomes in patients with acute ischaemic stroke(AIS).The present clinical trial aimed at testing the efficacy and safety of Y-2 sublingual tablet on 90-day functional outcome in patients with AIS.Methods and design This is a randomised,double-blind,placebo-controlled,multicentre,parallel-group trial of Y-2 sublingual tablet on patients with AIS.An estimated 914 patients at age of 18–80 years with AIS within 48 hours after symptom onset from 40 hospitals will be randomly assigned to receive Y-2 sublingual tablet or placebo for 14 days.Patients are at score 6–20 points on National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)and had a modified Rankin Scale(mRS)≤1 before this stroke,except mechanical thrombectomy and neuroprotective agents treatment.Study outcomes The primary outcome is the proportion of patients with mRS≤1 on day 90 after randomisation.Secondary efficacy outcomes include mRS score on day 90,the proportion of patients with mRS≤2 on day 90;the change of NIHSS score from baseline to day 14 and the proportion of patients with NIHSS score≤1 at the days 14,30 and 90.Discussion This trial will provide valuable evidence for the efficacy and safety of Y-2 sublingual table for improving 90 days the functional outcomes in patients with AIS.Trial registration number NCT04950920.

BACKGROUND Low-grade appendiceal neoplasms(LAMN)are characterized by low incidence and atypical clinical presentations,often leading to misdiagnosis as acute or chronic appendicitis before surgery.The primary diagnostic tool for LAMN is abdominal computed tomography(CT)imaging.Surgical resection remains the cornerstone of LAMN management,necessitating en bloc tumor excision to minimize the risk of iatrogenic rupture.Laparoscopy,known for its minimal invasiveness,reduced postoperative discomfort,and expedited recovery,is a safe and reliable approach for LAMN treatment.Despite the possibility of pseudomyxoma peritonei development,appendectomy and partial appendectomy generally result in negative tumor margins and favorable outcomes,which can be attributed to the disease’s slow growth and lower malignancy.CASE SUMMARY A 71-year-old male patient was admitted to our hospital with a pelvic spaceoccupying lesion detected 1 mo prior.Physical examination showed a soft abdomen without tenderness or rebound and no palpable masses.No shifting dullness was noted,and digital rectal examination revealed no palpable mass.Enteroscopy revealed a raised,smooth-surfaced mass measuring 3.0 cm in the cecum.Abdominal contrast-enhanced CT showed a markedly thickened and dilated appendix with visible cystic shadows.Laparoscopic surgery was performed and revealed a significantly dilated appendix,leading to laparoscopic resection of the appendix and part of the cecum.Post-surgical pathologic analysis confirmed LAMN.The patient received symptomatic and supportive post-operative care and was discharged on postoperative day 4 without complications such as abdominal bleeding,intestinal obstruction,or incision infection.No tumor recurrence was observed during a 7-mo follow-up period.CONCLUSION LAMN is a rare disease that lacks specific clinical manifestations.Abdominal CT plays a crucial role in diagnosing LAMN,and laparoscopic surgery is a safe and effective diagnostic and therapeutic approach.
