Background Moyamoya disease(MMD)is a significant cause of childhood stroke and transient ischemic attacks(TIAs).This study aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of remote ischemic conditioning(RIC)in children with *** In a single-center pilot study,46 MMD patients aged 4 to 14 years,with no history of reconstructive surgery,were randomly assigned to receive either RIC or sham RIC treatment twice daily for a *** primary outcome measured was the cumulative incidence of major adverse cerebrovascular events(MACEs).Secondary outcomes included ischemic stroke,recurrent TIA,hemorrhagic stroke,revascularization rates,and clinical improvement assessed using the patient global impression of change(PGIC)scale during ***-related adverse events were also recorded,and cerebral hemodynamics were evaluated using transcranial *** All 46 patients completed the final follow-up(23 each in the RIC and sham RIC groups).No severe adverse events associated with RIC were ***-Meier analysis indicated a significant reduction in MACEs frequency after RIC treatment[log-rank test(Mantel-Cox),P=0.021].At 3-year follow-up,two(4.35%)patients had an ischemic stroke,four(8.70%)experienced TIAs,and two(4.35%)underwent revascularization as the qualifying *** clinical improvement rate in the RIC group was higher than the sham RIC group on the PGIC scale(65.2%vs.26.1%,P<0.01).No statistical difference in cerebral hemodynamics post-treatment was *** RIC is a safe and effective adjunct therapy for asymptomatic children with *** was largely due to the reduced incidence of ischemic cerebrovascular events.

Optimization of resource allocation in FDD massive MIMO systems

The performance of massive MIMO systems relies heavily on the availability of Channel State Information at the Transmitter(CSIT).A large amount of work has been devoted to reducing the CSIT acquisition overhead at the pilot training and/or CsI feedback *** fact,the downlink communication generally includes three stages,i.e.,pilot training,CsI feedback,and data *** three stages are mutually related and jointly determine the overall system ***,there exist few studies on the reduction of csIT acquisition overhead from the global point of *** this paper,we integrate the Minimum Mean Square Error(MMSE)channel estimation,Random Vector Quantization(RVQ)based limited feedback and Maximal Ratio Combining(MRC)precoding into a unified framework for investigating the resource allocation *** particular,we first approximate the covariance matrix of the quantization error with a simple expression and derive an analytical expression of the received Signal-to-Noise Ratio(SNR)based on the deterministic equivalence *** the three performance metrics(the spectral efficiency,energy efficiency,and total energy consumption)oriented problems are formulated *** practical system requirements,these three metrics can be collaboratively ***,we propose an optimization solver to derive the optimal partition of channel coherence *** results verify the benefits of the proposed resource allocation schemes under three different scenarios and illustrate the tradeoff of resource allocation between three stages.

Normobaric oxygen therapy attenuates hyperglycolysis in ischemic stroke

Normobaric oxygen therapy has gained attention as a simple and convenient means of achieving neuroprotection against the pathogenic cascade initiated by acute ischemic *** mechanisms underlying the neuroprotective efficacy of normobaric oxygen therapy,however,have not been fully *** is hypothesized that cerebral hyperglycolysis is involved in the neuroprotection of normobaric oxygen therapy against ischemic *** this study,Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to either 2-hour middle cerebral artery occlusion followed by 3-or 24-hour reperfusion or to a permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion *** 2 hours after the onset of ischemia,all rats received either 95%oxygen normobaric oxygen therapy for 3 hours or room *** with room air,normobaric oxygen therapy significantly reduced the infarct volume,neurological deficits,and reactive oxygen species and increased the production of adenosine triphosphate in ischemic *** changes were associated with reduced transcriptional and translational levels of the hyperglycolytic enzymes glucose transporter 1 and 3,phosphofructokinase 1,and lactate *** addition,normobaric oxygen therapy significantly reduced adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase mRNA expression and phosphorylated adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase protein *** findings suggest that normobaric oxygen therapy can reduce hyperglycolysis through modulating the adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase signaling pathway and alleviating oxidative injury,thereby exhibiting neuroprotective effects in ischemic *** study was approved by the Institutional Animal Investigation Committee of Capital Medical University(approval ***-2018-033)on August 13,2018.

In this study,a novel equivalent damping ratio model that is suitable for reinforced concrete(RC)structures considering cyclic degradation behavior is developed,and a new equivalent linearization analysis method for implementing the proposed equivalent damping ratio model for use in seismic damage evaluation is *** this end,Ibarra’s peak-oriented model,which incorporates an energy-based degradation rule,is selected for representing hysteretic behavior of RC structure,and the optimized equivalent damping for predicting the maximum displacement response is presented by using the empirical method,in which the effect of cyclic degradation is ***,the relationship between the hysteretic energy dissipation of the inelastic system and the elastic strain energy of the equivalent linear system is established so that the proposed equivalent linear system can be directly integrated with the Park-Ang seismic model to implement seismic damage *** to the simplicity of the equivalent linearization method,the proposed method provides an efficient and reliable way of obtaining comprehensive insight into the seismic performance of RC *** verification demonstrates the validity of the proposed method.

Carbon felt electrode coated with WS2 enables a high-performance polysulfide/ferricyanide flow battery

Polysulfide/ferricyanide flow batteries （S/Fe RFBs）,with the advantages of abundant earth reservation low cost,high safety,and environmental friendliness,have attracted significant interest and demonstrated noteworthy potential for practical ***,the battery performance,including the energy efficiency （EE）,voltage efficiency （VE）,and power density of the S/Fe RFBs remains low owing to the slow redox kinetics of polysulfide *** address these concerns,WS2was selected as the booster and deposited on a commercial carbon felt electrode （WS2–CF） to stimulate the redox reactions of polysulfide *** better hydrophilicity and smaller charge-transfer resistance,WS2–CF exhibits enhanced electrochemical activity toward polysulfide redox ***,the battery performance of S/Fe RFB with WS2–CF as the anode has been improved,with EE of 84%,VE of 84%,and a peak power density of 175.7 mW·cm-2,which are all higher than the cell only with the bare carbon felt （CF） as electrodes (76%,77% and 155.8 mW·cm-2,respectively).Furthermore,the cycling life of the S/Fe RFB with WS2–CF has been prolonged to 2200 cycles with a capacity retention of 96% a 40 mA·cm-2because of the good stability of WS2–CF as the ***,under the same conditions,the S/Fe RFB without WS2–CF terminated after 1500 cycles with a fast capacity *** successful utilization of WS2as a booster on an electrode provides an efficient strategy for obtaining advanced S/Fe RFBs for practical applications.

Predicting asymptomatic coronary artery stenosis by aortic arch plaque in acute ischemic cerebrovascular disease:beyond the cervicocephalic atherosclerosis?

Background:Asymptomatic coronary artery stenosis(ACAS)≥50%is common in patients with acute ischemic cerebrovascular disease(AICVD),which portends a poor cardiovascular and cerebrovascular *** ACAS>50%early may optimize the clinical management and improve the outcomes of these high-risk AICVD *** study aimed to investigate whether aortic arch plaque(AAP),an early atherosclerotic manifestation of brain blood-supplying arteries,could be a predictor for ACAS>50%in ***:In this cross-sectional study,atherosclerosis of the coronary and brain blood-supplying arteries was simultaneously evaluated using one-step computed tomography angiography(CTA)in AICVD patients without coronary artery disease *** patients were divided into ACAS≥50%and non-ACAS≥50%groups according to whether CTA showed stenosis≥50%in at least one coronary arterial *** AAP characteristics of CTA were depicted from aspects of thickness,extent,and ***:Among 118 analyzed patients with AICVD,29/118(24.6%)patients had ACAS≥50%,while AAPs were observed in 86/118(72.9%)*** AAP thickness per millimeter(adjusted odds ratio[OR]:1.56,95%confidence interval[CI]:1.18-2.05),severe-extent AAP(adjusted OR:13.66,95%CI:2.33-80.15),and presence of complex AAP(adjusted OR:7.27,95%CI:2.30-23.03)were associated with ACAS≥50%among patients with AICVD,independently of clinical demographics and cervicocephalic atherosclerotic *** combination of AAP thickness,extent,and complexity predicted ACAS≥50%with an area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve of 0.78(95%CI:0.70-0.85,P<0.001).All three AAP characteristics provided additional predictive power beyond cervical and intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis for ACAS≥50%in AICVD(all P<0.05).Conclusions:Thicker,severe-extent,and complex AAP were significant markers of the concomitant ACAS≥50%in AICVD,possibly superior to the indicative value of cervical and intracranial atherosclerotic

Coexistence of High Fibrinogen and Low High-density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Levels Predicts Recurrent Cerebral Venous Thrombosis

Background： Cerebral venous thrombosis （CVT） may lead to serious neurological disorders; however, little is known about the risk factors for recurrent CVT. Our aim was to determine the association between elevated fibrinogen and decreased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol （HDL-C） levels with recurrent CVT. Methods： This retrospective cohort study included participants if they had a first episode of objectively defined CVT and were admitted to Xuan Wu Hospital, Capital Medical University from August 2005 to September 2009. Demographic and clinical variables were collected, as well as laboratory parameters, inchiding plasma fibrinogen and HDL-C. Patients with CVT were tbllowed for recurrent symptomatic CVT. Follow-up was through the end of September 2010. Potential predictors of recurrence were analyzed using Cox survival analysis. Results： At tile end of the lbllow-up, 95 patients were eligible lbr the study. Twelve of 95 patients （12.6%） had recurred CVT. Tile median time of recurrence was 7 months （range： 1-39 months）. Eight of these 12 （66.7%） experienced rectirrence within the first 12 months alter their initial CVT. The recurrence rate of CVT was 2.76 per 100 patient-years. Multivariate Cox regression analysis demonstrated that the coexistence of high fibrinogen （〉4.00 g/L） and low HDL-C （〈1.08 mmol/L） levels at baseline was the only independent predictor for recurrent CVT （hazard ratio： 4.69; 95% confidence interval： 1.10-20,11; P 〈 0.05）. Of tile twelve patients with recurrent CVT in our study, 7 （58.3%） had high fibrinogen plus low HDL-C levels. All 7 of these patients took warfarin for 3-12 months, and 6 of 7 had rectirrent CVT after the discontinuation of anticoagulant treatment. Conclusions： Concomitant high fibrinogen and low HDL-C levels may be associated with recurrence of CVT. The ett＇ect of potential risk lhctors related to atherothrombosis on rectinent CVT should be closely monitored.

Mid-ocean ridge and oceanic transforms are among the most prominent features on the seafloor surface and are crucial for understanding seafloor spreading and plate tectonic dynamics,but the deep structure of the oceanic lithosphere remains poorly *** large number of microearthquakes occurring along ridges and transforms provide valuable information for gaining an indepth view of the underlying detailed seismic structures,contributing to understanding geodynamic processes within the oceanic *** studies have indicated that the maximum depth of microseismicity is controlled by the 600-℃***,this perspective is being challenged due to increasing observations of deep earthquakes that far exceed this suggested isotherm along mid-ocean ridges and oceanic transform *** mechanisms have been proposed to explain these deep events,and we suggest that local geodynamic processes(e.g.,magma supply,mylonite shear zone,longlived faults,hydrothermal vents,etc.)likely play a more important role than previously thought.
