A retrospective and consecutive study of viscocanalostomy versus trabeculectomy for primary congenital glaucoma

Background Surgical interventions are the main treatment for primary congenital glaucoma （PCG）. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety between viscocanalostomy and mitomycin C （MMC）-trabeculectomy in patients with PCG. Methods A total number of 43 patients with PCG who underwent either viscocanalostomy （group 1） or MMC- trabeculectomy （group 2） between June 2003 and June 2008 were retrospectively reviewed. The patients＇ intraocular pressures （lOPs） were examined before surgery and on day 1, week 1, month 1, month 6, and month 12 post-operative. Mean horizontal corneal diameters, success rates, intra- and post-operative complications were compared between the two groups. Results Pre-operative lOPs were （31.96±3.90） mmHg in group 1 and （32.56±4.00） mmHg in group 2. At the last visit, lOPs were （16.78±2.20） mmHg and （15.77±2.60） mmHg, respectively （P 〈0.001）; the complete success rates of group 1 and group 2 were 45.9% and 67.4%, respectively, and the difference was not statistically significant （P=0.158）. There were no major complications occurred in the two groups. Conclusions Both viscocanalostomy and trabeculectomy can lower lOP in PCG patients effectively. Although there was no major complications occurred in both groups, viscocanlostomy may decrease the probability of postoperative haemorrhage, hypotony, cataract, or choroid effusion.

Objective To study the association of DTNBP1 gene with some symptom factors of *** A total of 285 unrelated schizophrenic individuals were recruited from December 2004 to January 2009 for genetic analysis,and their symptom factors were assessed based on the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS).The quantitative trait test was performed by the UNPHASED program(version 3.0.12) to investigate the association between scored positive and negative symptoms and the single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) in DTNBP1 *** The quantitative trait test showed allelic association of rs909706 with the excitement symptom of schizophrenia(P<0.05,adjusted by 10 000 permutations),while the genotype C/G of rs2619539 with a negative symptom,lack of spontaneity and flow of conversation(P<0.05,adjusted by 10 000 permutations).Conclusion DTNBP1 variations are possibly associated with some symptoms of schizophrenia,which could partly explain the relationship between the susceptibility gene DTNBP1 and that disease.

The thermal fatigue behavior of a single crystal superalloy SRR99 was investigated. Specimens with V-type notch were tested at the peak temperatures of 900, 1000, and 1100℃. The crack growth curves as a function of the number of cycles were plotted. With the increase of peak temperature, the crack initiation life was shortened dramatically. Through optical microscopy （OM） and scanning electron microscopy （SEM） observation, it was found that multiple small cracks nucleated at the notch tip region but only one or two of them continued to develop in the following thermal cycles. The primary cracks generally propagated along a preferential direction. Microstructure changes after thermal fatigue were also discussed on the basis of SEM observation.

Gibberellin(GA)is one of the major plant hormones that promote parthenocarpy,a highly valuable agronomic ***,we demonstrated that exogenous GA3application triggered the formation of parthenocarpic fruits with smaller size but unchanged shape in tomato(Solanum lycopersicum).These fruits exhibited a thicker pericarp,undeveloped ovules,and few jelly tissues,leading to smaller locules with empty *** investigation showed that GA treatment produced more cell layers with larger cells in the pericarp,suggesting its promotion in both cell division and *** analyses between GA-3and mock-treated unpollinated ovaries/fruits identified a large number of differentially expressed genes related to hormones,cell division,cell expansion,and transcription factors,implying that they coordinately regulated parthenocarpy conferred by *** particular,the downregulation of five reported repressors of tomato parthenocarpy,including two auxin signaling components,AUXIN RESPONSE FACTOR5(SlARF5)and Sl ARF7,and three MADS-box genes,TOMATO APETALA3(TAP3),TOMATO PISTILLATA(TPI),and AGAMOUS-LIKE6(SlAGL6),after GA treatment might play a key role in this ***,we found that the knockdown of a GA signaling factor SlMYB33,which was depressed by GA treatment,induced parthenocarpic fruit set in tomato,an effect that might have been achieved by enhancing GA biosynthesis and decreasing the expression of some repressors of tomato ***,our results provide a basis for understanding the regulatory mechanism of GA in tomato parthenocarpy.

Knowledge distillation,as a pivotal technique in the field of model compression,has been widely applied across various ***,the problem of student model performance being limited due to inherent biases in the teacher model during the distillation process still *** address the inherent biases in knowledge distillation,we propose a de-biased knowledge distillation framework tailored for binary classification *** the pre-trained teacher model,biases in the soft labels are mitigated through knowledge infusion and label de-biasing *** on this,a de-biased distillation loss is introduced,allowing the de-biased labels to replace the soft labels as the fitting target for the student *** approach enables the student model to learn from the corrected model information,achieving high-performance deployment on lightweight student *** conducted on multiple real-world datasets demonstrate that deep learning models compressed under the de-biased knowledge distillation framework significantly outperform traditional response-based and feature-based knowledge distillation models across various evaluation metrics,highlighting the effectiveness and superiority of the de-biased knowledge distillation framework in model compression.

Biocatalysis in organic solvents(OSs)has numerous important applications,but native enzymes in OSs often exhibit limited catalytic ***,we proposed a computation-aided surface charge engineering strategy to improve the catalytic performance of haloalkane dehalogenase DhaA in OSs based on the energetic analysis of substrate binding to the DhaA *** variants with enhanced OS resistance were obtained by replacing negative charged residues on the surface with positive charged residue(Arg).Particularly,a four-substitution variant E16R/E93R/E121R/E257R exhibited the best catalytic performance(five-fold improvement in OS resistance and seven-fold half-life increase in 40%(vol)dimethylsulfoxide).As a result,the overall catalytic performance of the variant could be at least 26 times higher than the wild-type *** spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulation studies revealed that the residue substitution mainly enhanced OS resistance from four aspects:(a)improved the overall structural stability,(b)increased the hydrophobicity of the local microenvironment around the catalytic triad,(c)enriched the hydrophobic substrate around the enzyme molecule,and(d)lowered the contact frequency between OS molecules and the catalytic *** findings validate that computationaided surface charge engineering is an effective and ingenious rational strategy for tailoring enzyme performance in OSs.

Environmental effects of nano remediation engineering of arsenic(As)pollution need to be *** this study,the roles of Fe_(2)O_(3)and TiO_(2)nanoparticles(NPs)on the microbial mediated As mobilization from As contaminated soil were *** addition of Fe_(2)O_(3)and TiO_(2)NPs restrained As(V)release,and stimulated As(Ⅲ)***(V)concentration decreased by 94% and 93% after Fe_(2)O_(3)addition,and decreased by 89% and 45% after Ti O_(2)addition compared to the Biotic and Biotic+Acetate(amended with sodium acetate)controls,*** maximum values of As(Ⅲ)were 20.5 and 27.1μg/L at 48 d after Fe_(2)O_(3)and TiO_(2)NPs addition,respectively,and were higher than that in Biotic+Acetate control(12.9μg/L).The released As co-precipitated with Fe in soils in the presence of Fe_(2)O_(3)NPs,but adsorbed on TiO_(2)NPs in the presence of TiO_(2)***,the addition of NPs amended with sodium acetate as the electron donor clearly promoted As(V)reduction induced by *** NPs addition changed the relative abundance of soil bacterial community,while Proteobacteria(42.8%-70.4%),Planctomycetes(2.6%-14.3%),and Firmicutes(3.5%-25.4%)were the dominant microorganisms in *** potential As/Fe reducing bacteria were related to Pseudomonas,Geobacter,Desulfuromonas,and *** addition of Fe_(2)O_(3)and TiO_(2)NPs induced to the decrease of arr A *** results indicated that the addition of NPs had a negative impact on soil microbial population in a long *** findings offer a relatively comprehensive assessment of Fe_(2)O_(3)and TiO_(2)NPs effects on As mobilization and soil bacterial communities.
