Bismuth clusters pinned on TiO_(2) porous nanowires boosting charge transfer for CO_(2) photoreduction to CH_(4)

Artificial photosynthesis in carbon dioxide(CO_(2))conversion into value-added chemicals attracts considerable attention but suffers from the low activity induced by sluggish separation of photogenerated carriers and the kinetic bottleneck-induced unsatisfied selectivity.Herein,we prepare a new-style Bi/TiO_(2) catalyst formed by pinning bismuth clusters on TiO_(2) nanowires through being confined by pores,which exhibits high activity and selectivity towards photocatalytic production of CH_(4) from CO_(2).Boosted charge transfer from TiO_(2) through Bi to the reactants is revealed via in situ X-ray photon spectroscopy and time-resolved photoluminescence(PL).Further,in situ Fourier transform infrared results confirm that Bi/TiO_(2) not only overcomes the multi-electron kinetics challenge of CO_(2) to CH_(4) via boosting charge transfer,but also facilitates proton production and transfer as well as the intermediates*CHO and*CH_(3)O generation,ultimately achieving the tandem catalysis towards methanation.Theoretical calculation also underlies that the more favorable reaction step from*CO to*CHO on Bi/TiO_(2) results in CH_(4) production with higher selectivity.Our work brings new insights into rational design of photocatalysts with high performance and the formation mechanism of CO_(2) to CH_(4) for solar energy storage in future.

Double Moving Extremes Ranked Set Sampling Design

The traditional simple random sampling(SRS)design method is inefficient in many cases.Statisticians proposed some new designs to increase efficiency.In this paper,as a variation of moving extremes ranked set sampling(MERSS),double MERSS(DMERSS)is proposed and its properties for estimating the population mean are considered.It turns out that,when the underlying distribution is symmetric,DMERSS gives unbiased estimators of the population mean.Also,it is found that DMERSS is more efficient than the SRS and MERSS methods for usual symmetric distributions(normal and uniform).For asymmetric distributions considered in this study,the DMERSS has a small bias and it is more efficient than SRS for usual asymmetric distribution(exponential)for small sample sizes.

A deep learning model based on contrast-enhanced computed tomography for differential diagnosis of gallbladder carcinoma

Background:Gallbladder carcinoma(GBC)is highly malignant,and its early diagnosis remains difficult.This study aimed to develop a deep learning model based on contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CT)images to assist radiologists in identifying GBC.Methods:We retrospectively enrolled 278 patients with gallbladder lesions(>10 mm)who underwent contrast-enhanced CT and cholecystectomy and divided them into the training(n=194)and validation(n=84)datasets.The deep learning model was developed based on ResNet50 network.Radiomics and clinical models were built based on support vector machine(SVM)method.We comprehensively compared the performance of deep learning,radiomics,clinical models,and three radiologists.Results:Three radiomics features including LoG_3.0 gray-level size zone matrix zone variance,HHL firstorder kurtosis,and LHL gray-level co-occurrence matrix dependence variance were significantly different between benign gallbladder lesions and GBC,and were selected for developing radiomics model.Multivariate regression analysis revealed that age≥65 years[odds ratios(OR)=4.4,95%confidence interval(CI):2.1-9.1,P37 U/mL(OR=4.0,95%CI:1.6-10.0,P=0.003)were significant clinical risk factors of GBC.The deep learning model achieved the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)values of 0.864(95%CI:0.814-0.915)and 0.857(95%CI:0.773-0.942)in the training and validation datasets,which were comparable with radiomics,clinical models and three radiologists.The sensitivity of deep learning model was the highest both in the training[90%(95%CI:82%-96%)]and validation[85%(95%CI:68%-95%)]datasets.Conclusions:The deep learning model may be a useful tool for radiologists to distinguish between GBC and benign gallbladder lesions.

The influence of inter-band rock on rib spalling in longwall panel with large mining height

In order to improve rib stability,failure criteria and instability mode of a thick coal seam with inter-band rock layer are analysed in this study.A three-dimensional mechanical model is established for the rib by considering the rock layer.A safety factor is defined foy the rib,and it is observed that the safety factor exhibits a positive correlation with the thickness and strength of the inter-band rock.A calculation method for determining critical parameters of the rock layer is presented to ensure the rib stability.It is revealed that incomplete propagation of the fracture at the hard rock constitutes a fundamental prerequisite for ensuring the rib stability.The influence of the position of the inter-band rock in the coal seam on failure mechanism of the rib was thoroughly investigated by developing a series of physical models for the rib at the face area.The best position for the inter-band rock in the coal seam is at a height of 1.5 m away from the roof line,which tends to provide a good stability state for the rib.For different inter-band rock positions,two ways of controlling rib by increasing supports stiffness and flexible grouting reinforcement are proposed.

SUB1 promotes colorectal cancer metastasis by activating NF-κB signaling via UBR5-mediated ubiquitination of UBXN1

Metastasis accounts for the major cause of colorectal cancer(CRC)related mortality due to the lack of effective treatments.In this study,we integrated the single-cell RNA-seq(sc RNA-seq)and bulk RNA-seq data and identified the transcriptional coactivator SUB1 homolog(SacSaccharomyces cerevisiae)/PC4(positive cofactor 4)associated with CRC metastasis.Elevated SUB1 expression was correlated with advanced tumor stage and poor survival in CRC.In vivo and vitro assays showed that SUB1 depletion could inhibit the invasive and metastatic abilities of CRC cells.SUB1 activated NF-κB signaling and its transcriptional target genes CXCL1 and CXCL3 to drive CRC metastasis.Mechanistically,SUB1 integrated with the E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase UBR5 and increased its protein level in CRC cells.Subsequently,the increased UBR5mainly mediated Lys11-linked polyubiquitination and degradation of NF-κB negative regulator UBXN1,thus to activate the NF-κB signaling.Overall,our study demonstrated that SUB1 promoted CRC progression by modulating UBR5/UBXN1 and activating NF-κB signaling,providing a new therapeutic strategy for treating metastatic CRC through targeting SUB1.

Cardioprotective Potential of Cymbopogon citratus Essential Oil against Isoproterenol-induced Cardiomyocyte Hypertrophy:Possible Involvement of NLRP3 Inflammasome and Oxidative Phosphorylation Complex Subunits

Objective:Cymbopogon citratus(DC.)Stapf is a medicinal and edible herb that is widely used for the treatment of gastric,nervous and hypertensive disorders.In this study,we investigated the cardioprotective effects and mechanisms of the essential oil,the main active ingredient of Cymbopogon citratus,on isoproterenol(ISO)-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy.Methods:The compositions of Cymbopogon citratus essential oil(CCEO)were determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.Cardiomyocytes were pretreated with 16.9µg/L CCEO for 1 h followed by 10µmol/L ISO for 24 h.Cardiac hypertrophy-related indicators and NLRP3 inflammasome expression were evaluated.Subsequently,transcriptome sequencing(RNA-seq)and target verification were used to further explore the underlying mechanism.Results:Our results showed that the CCEO mainly included citronellal(45.66%),geraniol(23.32%),and citronellol(10.37%).CCEO inhibited ISO-induced increases in cell surface area and protein content,as well as the upregulation of fetal gene expression.Moreover,CCEO inhibited ISO-induced NLRP3 inflammasome expression,as evidenced by decreased lactate dehydrogenase content and downregulated mRNA levels of NLRP3,ASC,CASP1,GSDMD,and IL-1β,as well as reduced protein levels of NLRP3,ASC,pro-caspase-1,caspase-1(p20),GSDMD-FL,GSDMD-N,and pro-IL-1β.The RNA-seq results showed that CCEO inhibited the increase in the mRNA levels of 26 oxidative phosphorylation complex subunits in ISO-treated cardiomyocytes.Our further experiments confirmed that CCEO suppressed ISO-induced upregulation of mt-Nd1,Sdhd,mt-Cytb,Uqcrq,and mt-Atp6 but had no obvious effects on mt-Col expression.Conclusion:CCEO inhibits ISO-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy through the suppression of NLRP3 inflammasome expression and the regulation of several oxidative phosphorylation complex subunits.

Deciphering the population structure and genetic basis of growth traits from whole-genome resequencing of the leopard coral grouper(Plectropomus leopardus)

The leopard coral grouper(Plectropomus leopardus)is a species of significant economic importance.Although artificial cultivation of P.leopardus has thrived in recent decades,the advancement of selective breeding has been hindered by the lack of comprehensive population genomic data.In this study,we identified over 8.73 million single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)through whole-genome resequencing of 326 individuals spanning six distinct groups.Furthermore,we categorized 226 individuals with high-coverage sequencing depth(≥14×)into eight clusters based on their genetic profiles and phylogenetic relationships.Notably,four of these clusters exhibited pronounced genetic differentiation compared with the other populations.To identify potentially advantageous loci for P.leopardus,we examined genomic regions exhibiting selective sweeps by analyzing the nucleotide diversity(θπ)and fixation index(FST)in these four clusters.Using these high-coverage resequencing data,we successfully constructed the first haplotype reference panel specific to P.leopardus.This achievement holds promise for enabling high-quality,cost-effectiveimputationmethods.Additionally,we combined low-coverage sequencing data with imputation techniques for a genome-wide association study,aiming to identify candidate SNP loci and genes associated with growth traits.A significant concentration of these genes was observed on chromosome 17,which is primarily involved in skeletal muscle and embryonic development and cell proliferation.Notably,our detailed investigation of growth-related SNPs across the eight clusters revealed that cluster 5 harbored the most promising candidate SNPs,showing potential for genetic selective breeding efforts.These findings provide a robust toolkit and valuable insights into the management of germplasm resources and genome-driven breeding initiatives targeting P.leopardus.

Enhanced Crystallization of Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)by a Self-assembly Nucleating Agent

Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)(PBAT)is a promising biodegradable flexible polymer but suffers from slow crystallization rate,making it less attractive for some applications like the injection-molded products in comparison with low-density polyethylene(LDPE).This work aimed to accelerate the crystallization of PBAT by adding a self-assembly nucleating agent octamethylenedicarboxylic dibenzoylhydrazide(OMBH).PBAT/OMBH composites with various OMBH contents(0 wt%,0.5 wt%,0.7 wt%,1 wt%,2 wt%,3 wt%and 5 wt%)were prepared through melt-mixing.The effect of OMBH on the crystallization behavior,morphologies and mechanical properties of PBAT was investigated.The highest nucleation efficiency value of 59.6%was achieved for PBAT with 0.7 wt%OMBH,much higher than that of 22.7%for PBAT with 0.7 wt%talc.Atomic force microscopy results showed that OMBH formed fine fibers and induced the formation of transcrystalline layers of PBAT.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)combined with two-dimensional correlation spectra suggested that the intermolecular dipole-dipole N—H…O=C interactions but not hydrogen bond between OMBH and PBAT promoted the crystallization of PBAT in the initial period of crystallization.The presence of OMBH did not change the crystal form of PBAT but had positive contribution in enhancing its crystallinity and mechanical properties.This work is essential for preparing PBAT with high crystallization rate,enhancing its potential applications in injection-molded products.

Multiple Targets Localization Algorithm Based on Covariance Matrix Sparse Representation and Bayesian Learning

The multi-source passive localization problem is a problem of great interest in signal pro-cessing with many applications.In this paper,a sparse representation model based on covariance matrix is constructed for the long-range localization scenario,and a sparse Bayesian learning algo-rithm based on Laplace prior of signal covariance is developed for the base mismatch problem caused by target deviation from the initial point grid.An adaptive grid sparse Bayesian learning targets localization(AGSBL)algorithm is proposed.The AGSBL algorithm implements a covari-ance-based sparse signal reconstruction and grid adaptive localization dictionary learning.Simula-tion results show that the AGSBL algorithm outperforms the traditional compressed-aware localiza-tion algorithm for different signal-to-noise ratios and different number of targets in long-range scenes.
