Challenges and countermeasures for developing countries in addressing loss and damage caused by climate change

Loss and damage caused by extreme climate events have attracted increasing attention.The 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(hereinafter referred to as the Convention)has agreed to adopt Loss and Damage Fund agreement,which identified the source of funding and the funds to be entrusted to the World Bank.However,there is still ambiguous that how to allocate the funds could accelerate the effectiveness of meeting the needs for developing countries.Pre-disaster prevention and preparedness is one of the most effective measures to deal with loss and damage,which closely related to adaptation.Previous studies rarely analyzed quantitatively the financial needs of pre-disaster prevention and preparedness relating to adaptation to reduce loss and damage.Based on the official reports submitted by countries under the Convention,this study analyzes the annual change in the total financial support provided by developed countries to developing countries,the proportion of pre-disaster prevention and preparedness in the adaptation needs of developing countries,and the progress in raising the current annual funding target of 100 billion USD for developed countries,to reveal the financial and technical challenges facing by developing countries on addressing loss and damage.The results show that by 2030,the total adaptation financial needs of developing countries are estimated to be about 3.8 trillion USD,of which pre-disaster prevention matters account for about 9%.Therefore,by 2030,developing countries will need about 342 billion USD in pre-disaster prevention and preparedness finance to withstand loss and damage.In addition,developing countries face a lack of technical methods to quantify information about their needs.Based on the above analysis,this study puts forward countermeasures and suggestions,including strengthening the allocation amount of loss and damage fund on pre-disaster warning,prevention and control actions,and establishing track modalities on the finance pr

Improved and sustainable agroecosystem, food security andenvironmental resilience through zero tillage with emphasis on soilsof temperate and subtropical climate regions: A review

Tillage is one of the agricultural management practices that significantly impacts agroecosystems,crop production,and the environment.Conventional tillage(CT)practices alter the soil environment and induce organic constituents’decomposition and the emission of greenhouse gases(GHGs),which contribute to the greenhouse effect and global warming.Low organic matter,biological diversity,aggregate stability,high erosion and degradation of the soil environment,and sequestration strength are additional factors associated with CT,which negatively affect food security and environmental sustainability.As a result,CT is no more beneficial in the long run;consequently,zero tillage(ZT)could be a viable candidate for sustainable agriculture.The review to establish this systematically compared and summarized the effect of tillage systems(i.e.CT and ZT)by synthesizing and interpreting published data(>150 peer-reviewed articles)with>200 observations on soil ecosystem services and properties/agroecosystem,crop yield/food security,GHG emission,and carbon sequestration/environmental resilience.The review established that ZT improves soil structure,aggregate stability,biological diversity,organic matter and nutrients,water and water use efficiency,and reduces soil degradation,erosion,tillage machinery impacts,and GHG emissions.It allows timely seeding and better crop growth,increases yield and food security,improves carbon sequestration,strengthens soil storage potential,and helps to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on environmental resilience.Based on various latent direct and indirect benefits,resource-saving ability,and broad adoption scope of ZT,it is corroborated that ZT is a practical and potential approach for improved and sustainable agroecosystem,food security,and environmental resilience.

The rhizosphere is the most active soil area for material transformation and energy flow of soil,root,and microorganism,which plays an important role in soil biochemical cycling.Although the rhizospheric nitrogen(N)and phosphorous(P)were easily disturbed in the agroecosystem,the effects of rhizosphere on the dynamics of soil N and P cycling have not yet been systematically quantified globally.We summarized the magnitude,direction,and driving forces of rhizosphere effects on agroecosystem's N and P dynamics by 1063 observations and 15 variables from 122 literature.Rhizosphere effects increased available N(AN,9%),available P(AP,11%),and total P(TP,5%),and decreased nitrate N(NO_(3)-N,18%)and ammonia N(NH_(4)-N,16%).The effect of rhizosphere on total N(TN)was not significant.These effects improved AN in tropical(12%)and subtropical(14%)regions.The effect of rhizosphere on TP was greater under subtropical conditions than in other climates.The most substantial effects of the rhizosphere on TP and AP were observed under humid conditions.Rhizosphere effects increased AN and AP in vegetables more than in other crop systems.Application of N>30o kg ha^(-1) had the most significant and positive rhizosphere effects on TN and AN.P application of 100-150 kg ha^(-1) had the greatest rhizosphere effects on TP and AP.These effects also improved the microbial(biomass N and P)and enzymatic aspects(urease,acid phosphatase,and alkaline phosphatase)of soil P and N cycling.Structural equation modeling suggested that aridity indices,fertilizer application rate,soil pH,microbial biomass,and soil enzymes strongly influence the magnitude and direction of the rhizosphere's effect on the P and N cycles.Overall,these findings are critical for improving soil nutrient utilization efficiency and modeling nutrient cycling in the rhizosphereforagricultural systems.

Stationary and moving solitons in spin-orbit-coupled spin-1 Bose-einstein condensates

We investigate the matter-wave sohtons in a spin-orbit-coupled spin-1 Bose-einstein condensate us- ing a multiscale perturbation method. Beginning with the one-dimensional spin-orbit-coupled three- component Gross-Pitaevskii equations, we derive a single nonlinear SehrSdinger equation, which allows determination of the analytical soliton solutions of the system. Stationary and moving solitons in the system are derived. In particular, a parameter space for different existing soliton types is provided. It is shown that there exist only dark or bright sohtons when the spin-orbit coupling is weak, with the solitons depending onthe atomic interactions. However, when the spin-orbit coupling is strong, both dark and bright solitons exist, being determined by the Raman coupling. Our analytical solutions are confirmed by direct numerical simulations.

Conquer coronary artery perforation with magic hands

Coronary artery perforation(CAP) poses a significant challenge for interventional cardiologists. Management of CAP depends on the location and severity of the perforation. The conventional method for addressing the perforation of large vessels involves the placement of a covered stent, while the perforation of distal and collateral vessels is typically managed using coils, autologous skin, subcutaneous fat, microspheres, gelatin sponge, thrombin or other substances. However, the above techniques have certain limitations and are not applicable in all scenarios. Our team has developed a range of innovative strategies for effectively managing CAP. This article provides an insightful review of the various tips and tricks for the treatment of CAP.

experimental study on ice monitoring method for 10 kV transmission line with tangent tower in alpine landform

Ice monitoring methods were applied for 110 kV and above transmission lines with tangent towers.However,the change in the vertical span is not considered,and a significant difference lies in the tower-conductor structure of 10 kV transmission lines.For this reason,a proposal is made about the ice monitoring method for the 10 kV transmission line with tangent tower in alpine landform,which includes the ice monitoring system based on pressure measurement and corresponding equivalent ice thickness calculating methods.Different methods calculate the vertical span under different height difference coefficients.A finite element simulation model and a simulated ice load experiment system are established based on real conductors and insulators.experiments and simulations under four simulated terrains are conducted within 2.5–20 mm ice thickness range.The comparison is made between this method and the method without considering the change in vertical span.The results show that the two methods are consistent and the relative errors are lower than�4%in simulation and�10%in experiment when the height difference coefficient is 0.When it is not 0,the relative errors of this method fall between t0.38%and t6.78%in simulation and−6.40%to t6.60%in experiment,while the relative errors of the method without considering the change in vertical span ranges between−11.13%and−20.23%in simulation and−11.65%to−23.20%in experiment.

Background:Choosing the appropriate antipsychotic drug(APD)treatment for patients with schizophrenia(SCZ)can be challenging,as the treatment response to APD is highly variable and difficult to predict due to the lack of effective biomarkers.Previous studies have indicated the association between treatment response and genetic and epigenetic factors,but no effective biomarkers have been identified.Hence,further research is imperative to enhance precision medicine in SCZ treatment.Methods:Participants with SCZ were recruited from two randomized trials.The discovery cohort was recruited from the CAPOC trial(n=2307)involved 6 weeks of treatment and equally randomized the participants to the Olanzapine,Risperidone,Quetiapine,Aripiprazole,Ziprasidone,and Haloperidol/Perphenazine(subsequently equally assigned to one or the other)groups.The external validation cohort was recruited from the CAPeC trial(n=1379),which involved 8 weeks of treatment and equally randomized the participants to the Olanzapine,Risperidone,and Aripiprazole groups.Additionally,healthy controls(n=275)from the local community were utilized as a genetic/epigenetic reference.The genetic and epigenetic(DNA methylation)risks of SCZ were assessed using the polygenic risk score(PRS)and polymethylation score,respectively.The study also examined the genetic-epigenetic interactions with treatment response through differential methylation analysis,methylation quantitative trait loci,colocalization,and promoteranchored chromatin interaction.Machine learning was used to develop a prediction model for treatment response,which was evaluated for accuracy and clinical benefit using the area under curve(AUC)for classification,R^(2) for regression,and decision curve analysis.Results:Six risk genes for SCZ(liNC01795,DDHD2,SBNO1,KCNG2,SeMA7A,and RUFY1)involved in cortical morphology were identified as having a genetic-epigenetic interaction associated with treatment response.The developed and externally validated prediction model,which incorporated clinical information,

以煤炭企业、煤炭加工企业和煤炭消费企业组成的供应链系统为研究对象,在构建煤炭企业和煤炭加工企业未兼并重组的供应链博弈模型以及煤炭企业和煤炭加工企业组成煤炭企业集团的供应链博弈模型的基础上,从供应链角度重构煤炭资源枯竭型城市绿色煤炭产业链体系。研究结果表明:缩短煤炭供应链的长度不仅有利于增加煤炭产业的总利润,而且有利于提高煤炭产业链的绿色度;提高煤炭消费企业对煤炭相关产品绿色度的敏感性、降低煤炭企业集团绿色转型成本和生产成本对政府和煤炭企业集团均有利。

MoS2 as a cocatalyst applied in advanced oxidation processes for enhancing degradation of organic pollutants: a review

Fenton technology,as a typical advanced oxidation processes（AOPs）,can generate reactive oxygen species（ROS） of strong oxidation capacity to degrade organic pollutants,which has attracted wide attention.However,it is accompanied by the slow Fe3+/Fe2+cycle rate,easy to generate iron sludge and so on.Recently,it has been proven that the inorganic cocatalysts represented by MoS2can effectively solve the above problems.Meanwhile,MoS2can accelerate the activation of peroxy mono sulfate（PMS） and peroxodisulfate（PDS） by Fe2+.In this paper,MoS2as the cocatalyst in H2O2+Fe2+,PMS+Fe2+and PDS+Fe2+were comprehensively reviewed.Specially,the cycling processes of Fe3+/Fe2+in different systems,the cocatalytic effect of MoS2by the exposed active sites,the ROS generation mechanism as well as the microscopic mechanism during the reaction were elaborated emphatically.The results indicate that the reductive active sites on the surface of MoS2can promote the regeneration of Fe2+through the cycle between Fe3+/Fe2+and Mo4+/Mo5+/Mo6+.Thus,ROS such as ·OH,SO4·-and1O2with strong oxidizing property can be produced to improve the degradation efficiency of organic pollutants.At last,the challenges and developments of MoS2cocatalysts in AOPs for practical applications were prospected.This review contributes to a deeper understanding of the cocatalytic effect of two-dimensional metal sulfides in AOPs and facilitates their industrial application.

Mitochondria play an essential role in neural function,such as supporting normal energy metabolism,regulating reactive oxygen species,buffering physiological calcium loads,and maintaining the balance of morphology,subcellular distribution,and overall health through mitochondrial dynamics.Given the recent technological advances in the assessment of mitochondrial structure and functions,mitochondrial dysfunction has been regarded as the early and key pathophysiological mechanism of cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease,Parkinson’s disease,Huntington’s disease,mild cognitive impairment,and postoperative cognitive dysfunction.This review will focus on the recent advances in mitochondrial medicine and research methodology in the field of cognitive sciences,from the perspectives of energy metabolism,oxidative stress,calcium homeostasis,and mitochondrial dynamics(including fission-fusion,transport,and mitophagy).
