In the present study a numerical model developed by Lynett and Liu （2002） is modified to include density difference in a stratified two-layer fluid in a three-dimensional internal wave domain. The internal solitary wave （ISW） in the model is assumed to be weakly nonlinear and weakly dispersive, and the viscosity effects at all boundaries are ignored. The governing equations based on the Navier-Stokes and Euler equations are solved for internal solitary wave propagation over variable seabed topography. Theoretical formulations are established, from which analytical solutions are obtained, in addition to numerical results. Wave profiles from previous experimental studies are compared with the numerical results from the present analytical solutions. Numerical models developed on the basis of the present analytical solutions are better than those developed by Lynett and Liu （2002）. The results of numerical modeling agree well with the experimental data.

During smile evaluation and anterior esthetic construction,the anatomic and racial variations should be considered in order to achieve better matching *** aims of this study were to validate an objective method for recording spontaneous smile process and to categorize the smile and upper lip curvature of Chinese Han-nationality *** hundred and eighty-eight Chinese Han-nationality youths(88 males and 100 females) ranged from 20 to 35 years of age were *** smiles were elicited by watching comical movies and the dynamics of the spontaneous smile were captured continuously with a digital video *** subjects’ smiles were categorized into three types:commissure,cuspid and gummy smile based on video editing software and final ***’ upper lip curvatures were also measured and divided into three groups:upward,straight and *** analysis was conducted to obtain intra-rater reliabilities on twice *** Pearson Chi-square test was used to compare differences for each parameters(α=0.05).In smile classification,60.6%commissure smile,33.5%cuspid smile and 5.9%gummy smile were *** upper lip measurement,26.1%upward,39.9%straight and 34.0%downward upper lip curvature were *** commissure smile group showed statistically significant higher percentage of straight(46.5%) and upward(40.4%) in upper lip curvatures(P<0.05),while cuspid smile group(65.1%) and gummy smile group(72.7%) showed statistically significant higher frequency in downward upper lip curvature(P<0.05).It is evident that differences in upper lip curvature and smile classification exist based on race,when comparing Chinese subjects with those of Caucasian descent,and gender.

Due to the increasing demand for security, the development of intelligent surveillance systems has attracted considerable attention in recent years. This study aims to develop a system that is able to identify whether or not the people need help in a public place. Different from previous work, our work considers not only the behaviors of the target person but also the interaction between him and nearby people. In the paper, we propose an event alarm system which can detect the human behaviors and recognize the happening event through integrating the results generated from the single and group behavior analysis. Several new effective features are proposed in the study. Besides, a mechanism capable of extracting one-to-one and multiple-to-one relations is also developed. Experimental results show that the proposed approach can correctly detect human behaviors and provide the alarm messages when emergency events occur.

Visual inspection is commonly adopted for building operation,maintenance,and *** durability and defects of components or materials in buildings can be quickly assessed through visual ***,implementations of visual inspection are substantially time-consuming,labor-intensive,and error-prone because useful auxiliary tools that can instantly highlight defects or damage locations from images are not ***,an advanced building inspection framework is developed and implemented with augmented reality(AR)and real-time damage detection in this *** this framework,engineers should walk around and film every corner of the building interior to generate the three-dimensional(3D)environment through ***,a trained YOLOv5 model real-time detects defects during this process,even in a large-scale field,and the defect locations indicating the detected defects are then marked in this 3D *** defects areas can be measured with centimeter-level accuracy with the light detection and ranging(LiDAR)on *** required damage information,including defect positions and sizes,is collected at a time and can be rendered in the 2D and 3D ***,this visual inspection can be efficiently conducted,and the previously generated environment can also be loaded to re-localize existing defect marks for future maintenance and change ***,the proposed framework is also implemented and verified by an underground parking lot in a building to detect and quantify surface defects on concrete *** seen in the results,the conventional building inspection is significantly improved with the aid of the proposed framework in terms of damage localization,damage quantification,and inspection efficiency.

Federated learning is an emerging machine learning techniquethat enables clients to collaboratively train a deep learning model withoutuploading raw data to the aggregation server. Each client may be equippedwith different computing resources for model training. The client equippedwith a lower computing capability requires more time for model training,resulting in a prolonged training time in federated learning. Moreover, it mayfail to train the entire model because of the out-of-memory issue. This studyaims to tackle these problems and propose the federated feature concatenate(FedFC) method for federated learning considering heterogeneous *** leverages the model splitting and feature concatenate for offloadinga portion of the training loads from clients to the aggregation server. Eachclient in FedFC can collaboratively train a model with different cutting ***, the specific features learned in the deeper layer of the serversidemodel are more identical for the data class classification. Accordingly,FedFC can reduce the computation loading for the resource-constrainedclient and accelerate the convergence time. The performance effectiveness isverified by considering different dataset scenarios, such as data and classimbalance for the participant clients in the experiments. The performanceimpacts of different cutting layers are evaluated during the model *** experimental results show that the co-adapted features have a criticalimpact on the adequate classification of the deep learning model. Overall,FedFC not only shortens the convergence time, but also improves the bestaccuracy by up to 5.9% and 14.5% when compared to conventional federatedlearning and splitfed, respectively. In conclusion, the proposed approach isfeasible and effective for heterogeneous clients in federated learning.

Aortic dissection is a life-threatening disease that can produce a variety of symptoms and complications. Patients at high risk for mortality, such as individuals with aortic regurgitation, cardiac tamponade, or myocardial infarction, should be treated by surgery as soon as possible, especially in cases with acute ascending aortic dissections （Stanford type A）. However, patients with aortic dissection may suffer adverse outcomes that lead to mortality and morbidity, such as stoke, re-dissection, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. Patients with surgically treated acute type A aortic dissection show an 18.2% likelihood of stroke in early morbidity.

This study sets up two new merit functions,which are minimized for the detection of real eigenvalue and complex eigenvalue to address nonlinear eigenvalue *** each eigen-parameter the vector variable is solved from a nonhomogeneous linear system obtained by reducing the number of eigen-equation one less,where one of the nonzero components of the eigenvector is normalized to the unit and moves the column containing that component to the right-hand side as a nonzero input vector.1D and 2D golden section search algorithms are employed to minimize the merit functions to locate real and complex ***,the real and complex eigenvectors can be computed very accurately.A simpler approach to the nonlinear eigenvalue problems is proposed,which implements a normalization condition for the uniqueness of the eigenvector into the eigenequation *** real eigenvalues can be computed by the fictitious time integration method(FTIM),which saves computational costs compared to the one-dimensional golden section search algorithm(1D GSSA).The simpler method is also combined with the Newton iterationmethod,which is convergent very *** the proposed methods are easily programmed to compute the eigenvalue and eigenvector with high accuracy and efficiency.

The growth, activation and deposition of corrosion products are the primary sources of radiation buildup on the surface of out-of-core piping in nuclear power plants. The buildup of radiation can have negative effects on the performance of the facility and cause harm to staff during maintenance outages for refueling. This paper reports on the crystalline and amorphous structures of corrosion products sampled in the boiling water reactors in nuclear power plants of Kuo-Sheng and identified using an acid dissolving technique. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microprobe and inductively coupled plasmaatomic emission spectroscopy were used to analyze the samples. The results indicate that the quantity of amorphous iron oxide at inlet of the condensate demineralizer in Unit 2 is higher than that in Unit 1. The proportion of crystalline to amorphous corrosion products can affect the efficiency of removal. Thus, these results can be used to explain the difference in removal efficiency of condensate demineralizers in different units. Moreover, the iron oxide structures with various properties were observed in different operational periods. It is probable that the higher proportion of amorphous structures with a smaller particle size would reduce efficiency in the removal of condensate demineralization in Unit 2.

Sewage discharge could be a major source of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （PAHs） in the coastal waters. Stonecutters Island and Shatin Sewage Treatment Works （SCISTW and STSTW） in Hong Kong, adopted chemically enhanced primary treatment and biological treatment, respectively. This study aimed at （1） determining the removal efficiencies of PAHs, （2） comparing the capabilities in removing PAHs, and （3） characterizing the profile of each individual PAHs, in the two sewage treatment plants （STPs）. Quantification of 16 PAHs was conducted by a Gas Chromatography. The concentrations of total PAHs decreased gradually along the treatment processes （from 301 ± 255 and 307 ± 217 ns/L to 14.9 ± 12.1 and 63.3 ± 54.1 ng/L in STSTW and SCISTW, respectively）. It was noted that STSTW was more capable in removing total PAHs than SCISTW with average total removal effidency 94.4% ± 4.12% us. 79.2% ± 7.48% （p 〈 0.05）. The removal of PAHs was probably due to sorption in particular matter, confirmed by the higher distribution coefficient of individual and total PAHs in solid samples （dewatered sludge contained 92.5% and 74.7% of total PAHs in SCISTW and STSTW, respectively） than liquid samples （final efffluent-total contained 7.53% and 25.3% of total PAHs in STSTW and SCISTW, respectively）. Despite the impressive capability of STSTW and SCISTW in removing PAHs, there was still a considerable amount of total PAHs （1.85 and 39.3 ks/year, respectively for the two STPs） being discharged into Hone Kon coastal waters, which would be an environmental concern.
