Association between glucose levels of children with type 1 diabetes and parental economic status in mobile health application

BACKGROUND The glycemic control of children with type 1 diabetes(T1D)may be influenced by the economic status of their *** To investigate the association between parental economic status and blood glucose levels of children with T1D using a mobile health *** Data from children with T1D in China's largest T1D online community,Tang-TangQuan■.Blood glucose levels were uploaded every three months and parental economic status was evaluated based on annual household *** were divided into three groups:Low-income(yuan),middle-income(30000-100000 yuan),and high-income(>100000 yuan)(1 yuan=0.145 United States Dollar approximately).Blood glucose levels were compared among the groups and associations were explored using Spearman’s correlation analysis and multivariable logistic *** From September 2015 to August 2022,1406 eligible children with T1D were included(779 female,55.4%).Median age was 8.1 years(Q1-Q3:4.6-11.6)and duration of T1D was 0.06 years(0.02-0.44).Participants were divided into three groups:Low-income(n=320),middle-income(n=724),and high-income(n=362).Baseline hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)levels were comparable among the three groups(P=0.072).However,at month 36,the low-income group had the highest HbA1c levels(P=0.036).Within three years after registration,glucose levels increased significantly in the low-income group but not in the middle-income and high-income *** economic status was negatively correlated with pre-dinner glucose(r=-0.272,P=0.012).After adjustment for confounders,parental economic status remained a significant factor related to pre-dinner glucose levels(odds ratio=13.02,95%CI:1.99 to 126.05,P=0.002).CONCLUSION The blood glucose levels of children with T1D were negatively associated with parental economic *** is suggested that parental economic status should be taken into consideration in the management of T1D for children.

One-step selective separation and efficient recovery of valuable metals from spent lithium batteries by phosphoric acid-based deep eutectic solvent

With more and more lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)being put into production and application,precious metals such as lithium and cobalt are scarce,so it is imminent to recover various strategic metal resources from spent ***,the complex and difficult problem of separating and recovering metals from leaching solutions has been an urgent question that needs to be *** this work,a phosphoric acid-based deep eutectic solvent(DES)was developed for extracting metals from spent LIBs and one-step selectively separating and efficiently recovering transition *** prepared DES shows excellent extraction performance for Li(100%)and Co(92.8%)at 100°*** addition,the extraction system can effectively separate and precipitate Co through its own components,avoiding the introduction of new precipitants and the destruction of the original composition structure of *** also contributes to the good cycle stability of the extraction system with excellent extraction performance for Li(94.3%)and Co(80.8%)after 5 *** work proposes a green method for one-step selectively separating and recovering valuable metals from spent LIBs.

Objective To systematically summarize the published literature on the genetic variants associated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Methods Literature from Web of Science,PubMed,and Embase between January 1980 and September 2022 was systematically ***-analyses of the genetic variants were conducted using at least five data *** epidemiologic credibility of the significant associations was graded using the Venice *** Based on literature screening,399 eligible studies were included,comprising 381 candidate gene association,16 genome-wide association,and 2 whole-exome sequencing *** identified 465 genetic variants in 173 genes in candidate gene association studies,and 25 genetic variants in 17 genes were included in the *** meta-analysis identified 11 variants in 10 genes that were significantly associated with NAFLD,with cumulative epidemiological evidence of an association graded as strong for two variants in two genes(HFE,TNF),moderate for four variants in three genes(TM6SF2,GCKR,and ADIPOQ),and weak for five variants in five genes(MBOAT7,PEMT,PNPLA3,LEPR,and MTHFR).Conclusion This study identified six variants in five genes that had moderate to strong evidence of an association with NAFLD,which may help understand the genetic architecture of NAFLD risk.

Secondary bile acids are associated with body lipid accumulation in obese pigs

The aim of this study was to investigate the reasons for the differences in lipid accumulation between lean and obese *** bile acids with varying levels within two types of pigs were found and then in vitro experiments were conducted to identify whether these bile acids can directly affect lipid *** pigs,including seven lean and seven obese pigs with body weights of approximately 80 kg,were fed the same diet at an amount approximately equivalent to 3%of their respective body weights daily for 42 *** vitro,3T3-L1 preadipocytes were cultured in medium with high glucose levels and were differentiated into mature adipocytes using differentiation ***,bile acids were added to mature adipocytes for 4 *** results showed that there was a difference in body lipids levels and gut microbiota composition between obese and lean pigs(P<0.05).According to the results of gut microbial function prediction,the bile acid biosynthesis in colonic digesta of obese pigs were different from that in lean ***-five bile acids were further screened by metabolomics,of which 4 were upregulated(P<0.05)and 2 were downregulated(P<0.05)in obese pigs compared to lean *** results of the correlation analysis demonstrated that chenodeoxycholic acid-3-β-D-glucuronide(CDCA-3Gln)andω-muricholic acid(ω-MCA)had a negative correlation with abdominal fat weight and abdominal fat rate,while isoallolithocholic acid(IALCA)was positively associated with crude fat in the liver and abdominal fat *** was a positive correlation between loin muscle area and CDCA-3Gln andω-MCA(P<0.05),however,IALCA and 3-oxodeoxycholic acid(3-oxo-DCA)were negatively associated with loin eye muscle area(P<0.05).Isoallolithocholic acid increased the gene expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma(PPARG)and the number of lipid droplets(P<0.05),promoting the lipid storage when IALCA was added to 3T3-L1 mature adipocytes in *** conclusion,the concentration of bile ac

Design of Differential Multi-Point Feeding Dual-Polarized SISL Antenna Based on CM Analysis

Dual-polarized antennas are required in the current mobile communication to increase the channel capacity and reducing multi-path effects. Utilizing characteristic mode(CM) analysis, this paper presents a five-patch substrate integrated suspended line(SISL) antenna with suppressed unwanted higher-order modes, and achieves an enhanced bandwidth by using differential multi-point feeding(MPF) systems. Compared to single-point feeding systems, the proposed dual-polarized SISL antenna with the MPF system demonstrates a bandwidth 1.87 times wider. The novel SISL feeding system incorporates two pairs of differentially-fed branch line feed structures. A prototype of the proposed differential-fed antenna is fabricated and measured, showing good agreement between simulated and measured results. The dual-polarization SISL antenna can achieve realized gain from 8.1 dBi to 10.8 dBi within a working frequency from 3.17 GHz to 3.61 GHz(12.98%). Moreover, utilizing low-cost substrates, the proposed SISL antenna has the potential for 5G applications.

Factors hindering the degradation of pharmaceuticals from human urine in an iron-activated persulfate system

This study investigated the degradation of clofibric acid(CFA),bezafibrate(BZF),and sulfamethoxazole(SMX)in synthetic human urine using a novel mesoporous iron powderactivated persulfate system(mFe-PS system),and identified the factors limiting their degradation in synthetic human urine.A kinetic model was established to expose the radical production in various reaction conditions,and experiments were conducted to verify the modeling *** the phosphate-containing mFe-PS system,the 120 min removal efficiency of CFA decreased from 95.1%to 76.6%as the phosphate concentration increased from 0.32 to 6.45 mmol/L,but recovered to 90.5%when phosphate concentration increased to 16.10 mmol/***,the increased concentration of phosphate from 0.32 to 16.10mmol/L reduced the BZF degradation efficacy from 91.5%to 79.0%,whereas SMX removal improved from 37.3%to 62.9%.The m Fe-PS system containing(bi)carbonate,from 4.20 to166.70 mmol/L,reduced CFA and BZF removal efficiencies from 100%to 76.8%and 80.4%,respectively,and SMX from 83.5%to 56.7%within a 120-min reaction *** addition,alkaline conditions(pH≥8.0)inhibited CFA and BZF degradations,while nonacidic pH(pH≥7.0)remarkably inhibited SMX *** of the kinetic model indicated the formation of phosphate(H_(2)PO_(4)^(·)/HPO_(4)^(·-))and/or carbonate radicals(CO_(3)^(·-))could limit pharmaceutical *** transformation products(TPs)of the pharmaceuticals revealed more incompletely oxidized TPs occurred in the phosphate-and(bi)carbonate-containing m Fe-PS systems,and indicated that H_(2)PO_(4)^(·)/HPO_(4)^(·-)mainly degraded pharmaceuticals via a benzene ring-opening reaction while CO_(3)^(·-)preferentially oxidized pharmaceuticals via a hydroxylation reaction.
