Detecting bulk and edge exceptional points in non-Hermitian systems through generalized Petermann factors

Non-orthogonality in non-Hermitian quantum systems gives rise to tremendous exotic quantum phenomena,which can be fundamentally traced back to *** this paper,we introduce an interesting quantity(denoted asη)as a new variant of the Petermann factor to directly and efficiently measure non-unitarity and the associated non-Hermitian *** tuning the model parameters of underlying non-Hermitian systems,we find that the discontinuity of bothηand its first-order derivative(denoted as■η)pronouncedly captures rich physics that is fundamentally caused by *** concretely,in the 1D non-Hermitian topological systems,two mutually orthogonal edge states that are respectively localized on two boundaries become non-orthogonal in the vicinity of discontinuity ofηas a function of the model parameter,which is dubbed"edge state transition".Through theoretical analysis,we identify that the appearance of edge state transition indicates the existence of exceptional points(EPs)in topological edge *** the discontinuity of■η,we investigate a two-level non-Hermitian model and establish a connection between the points of discontinuity of■ηand EPs of bulk *** studying this connection in more general lattice models,we find that some models have discontinuity of■η,implying the existence of EPs in bulk states.

Surface modification of graphite anode with electroactive matters has been proven of a more practical strategy in enhancing the performance of Li-ion batteries than exploring alternative novel anode ***,rutile TiNbO_(4-x) nanoparticles with a tunnel structure are employed as multifunctional decoration substances in combination with a carbon coating layer to improve the rate and cycle properties of mesocarbon microbeads(MCMBs).As compared to pristine MCMB,the Li^(+)diffusion coefficients of the composite anodes are enhanced due to the synergistic effect of TiNbO_(4-x)@***,the overcharge and voltage polarization of the composite anodes at high rate are obviously minimized due to the current sharing effect of the high-potential TiNbO_(4-x).Moreover,the amorphous Li_(y)TiNbO_(4-x) converted from TiNbO_(4-x) in the initial lithiation process can deliver pseudocapacitive capacity to the composite anodes from the second *** of these functions of TiNbO_(4-x)@Ccoating layer have directly contributed to the improved rate and cycle performance of the MCMB/TiNbO_(4-x)@C composite *** one containing 12.0 wt%TiNbO_(4-x) exhibits a high reversible specific capacity of 118 m Ah·g^(-1)at 10C(1C=372 m A·g^(-1)),together with a high capacity retention of 90.9%after 300 cycles at 3C,which are all much superior to those of pristine MCMB.

Gene diagnosis refers to the use of genetic testing in the diagnosis of inheritable conditions,which has gradually been applied in clinical practice with the completion of the gene sequencing efforts of the Human Genome Project and the advancement of gene detection *** the specialty field of cardiology,monogenic cardiovascular diseases are defined as monogenic inherited diseases with cardiovascular damage as the only phenotype,or accompanied by cardiovascular *** the incidence of such diseases is relatively low,in the country of China with its vast population of 1.33 billion,the sheer volume of patients with monogenic cardiovascular diseases is *** early onset,severe symptoms,and poor prognosis,delays in diagnosis and treatment of monogenic cardiovascular diseases often have serious *** testing is perfectly suited for early diagnosis of monogenic cardiovascular diseases,especially for“pre-symptomatic”*** this article,we generally review the characteristics of common monogenic cardiovascular diseases,summarize the progress of the standardized application of gene testing technology in clinical practice,describe the applicable population and condition of genetic testing for different monogenic cardiovascular diseases,analyze the practicality of genetic diagnosis of these inheritable conditions,and provide guidance on identifying suitable candidates for gene *** conclusion,gene diagnosis provides new insights into the way physicians diagnose diseases,and is well-positioned to guide clinical decision making and treatment,especially in cardiology.

Forming an ultrathin conducting layer on a fluorinated carbon(CFx)surface for reducing severe electrochemical polarization in lithium/fluorinated carbon primary batteries(Li/CF_(x))remains a considerable challenge for achieving batteries with excellent rate ***,CFxwas modified by using acetylene/argon mixture plasma combined with MnO_(2)*** CF_(x)/C/MnO_(2)composite effectively reduced the voltage hysteresis and improved the electrochemical performance of Li/CF_(x).The excellent rate performance of CF_(x)/C/MnO_(2)was due to the high electrochemical activity provided by the atomicscale conductive carbon layer and ultrafine MnO_(2)*** with pristine CF_(x),the charge transfer resistance of the optimized CF_(x)/C/MnO_(2)decreased from 218.5 to 48.2Ω,the discharge rate increased from 2C to 10C,and the power density increased from 3.11 to 13.44 kW·g^(-1),The intrinsic reason for the enhanced rate performance was attributed to the fact that the ultrathin carbon layer acted as a conductive bridge to reduce the voltage hysteresis at the initial stage of the Li/CF_(x)discharge,and the high electrochemical activity of the ultrafine MnO_(2)particles provided a faster lithium-ion diffusion rate.

Olefin polymerization is one of the most im portant chemical reactions in *** work presents a strategy that emphasizes the synergistic meta/poro-steric hindrance of N-aryl groups and electronic effects in newly synthesized neutral salicylaldiminato nickel *** nickel（Ⅱ） catalysts exhibit exceptional thermostability,ranging from 30℃ to 130℃,demonstrating enhanced catalytic activities and broadly regulated polyethylene molecular weights(3-341 kg·mol-1) and controlled polymer branch density（2-102 brs/1000C）.The preferred catalyst Ni3 with concerted steric and electronic effects enables the production of solid-state semi-crystalline polyethylene materials at temperatures below 90℃.Notably,Ni3 exhibits an impressive tolerance of 110℃ and can withstand even the challenging polymerization temperature of 130℃,leading to the production of polyethylene wax and ***,functionalized polyethylene is produced.

Bifacial PV modules capture solar radiation from both sides,enhancing power generation by utilizing reflected ***,there are difficulties in obtaining ground albedo data due to its dynamic *** address this issue,this study established an experimental testing system on a rooftop and developed a model to analyze dynamic albedo variations,utilizing specific data from the *** results showed that the all-day dynamic variations in ground albedo ranged from 0.15 to 0.22 with an average of ***,this study evaluates the annual performance of a bifacial PV system in Beijing by considering the experimental conditions,utilizing bifacial modules with a front-side efficiency of 21.23%and a bifaciality factor of 0.8,and analyzing the dynamic all-day albedo data obtained from the numerical *** results indicate that the annual radiation on the rear side of bifacial PV modules is 278.90 kWh/m^(2),which accounts for only 15.50%of the front-side ***,when using the commonly default albedo value of 0.2,the rear-side radiation is 333.01 kWh/m^(2),resulting in an overestimation of 19.40%.Under dynamic albedo conditions,the bifacial system is predicted to generate an annual power output of 412.55 kWh/m^(2),representing a significant increase of approximately 12.37%compared to an idealized monofacial PV system with equivalent front-side *** a 25-year lifespan,the bifacial PV system is estimated to reduce carbon emissions by 8393.91 kgCO_(2)/m^(2),providing an additional reduction of 924.31 kgCO_(2)/m^(2)compared to the idealized monofacial PV *** findings offer valuable insights to promote the application of bifacial PV modules.

Building occupant presence during varying periods is crucial to the performance studies of buildings and city ***,the understanding of the building occupancies on the university campus remains *** address this gap,our study employs field measurements,payment records,course arrangements,and building access systems to depict the occupancy patterns of the canteen,dormitory,library,and teaching and lab buildings during weekdays and *** found that the occupancy rates across different buildings are somehow interrelated,given that the total number of occupants on campus is generally ***,dormitory occupancy rates tend to be low during the morning and afternoon course hours,which inversely correlates with the high occupancy rates in the teaching and lab buildings during these ***,canteens experience surges in occupancy during meal times,which coincide with a decrease in library ***,we established appliance operation schedules for dormitories through surveys and on-site *** dispensers and electronic devices were identified as the primary energy consumers for both male and female occupants,with desk-top fans and hairdryers being significant energy users for male and female occupants,*** findings are essential for energy studies within a campus setting,underlining the importance of considering occupant behaviors on a regional scale.

With lanthanum(La) in agriculture, medicine, and the chemical industry, La shows accumulation in the body, especially in the bone, because of its similar structure to calcium. Moreover, La has a direct role in bone formation regulating osteoblasts and osteoclasts. Nevertheless, bone formation is complex under the regulation of osteogenesis, osteoclastogenesis, and angiogenesis in the bone microenvironment. It is difficult to comprehensively understand the regulation of bone homeostasis from a single kind of ***, some bone microenvironment-related cells and mouse calvaria culture models were used to study the regulatory effect of La-based compound-lanthanum nitrate(La(NO_(3))_(3)) on bone ***(NO_(3))_(3) has good biological safety, and the osteogenic differentiation is significantly increased under La(NO_(3))_(3) treatment for bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMMSC). In contrast, the differentiation,maturation, and bone erosion ability of osteoclasts are significantly decreased. Meanwhile, the angiogenesis ability of human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVEC) is significantly promoted when treated with La(NO_(3))_(3). Furthermore, bone metabolism and angiogenesis are improved under La(NO_(3))_(3) treatment in the calvaria ex vivo culture model and BMMSC-HUVEC co-culture system. These results suggest that La has the beneficial effect of promoting bone metabolism and improving bone formation in the bone microenvironment.
