Bifunctional interstitial phosphorous doping strategy boosts platinum-zinc alloy for efficient ammonia oxidation reaction and hydrogen evolution reaction

It is still a lack of bifunctional catalysts for ammonia oxidation reaction(AOR)and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)due to their different reaction mechanisms.In this work,P is doped into PtZn alloy by calcination with NaH_(2)PO_(2) as P source to induce the lattice tensile strain of Pt and the electronic interaction between P and Zn,which optimizes the AOR and HER activity simultaneously.The sample with the optimal P content can drive the AOR peak current density of 293.6 mA·mgPt^(-1),which is almost 2.7 times of Pt.For HER,the overpotential at^(-1)0 mA·cm^(-2) is only 23 mV with Tafel slope of 34.1 mV·dec^(-1).Furthermore,only 0.59 V is needed to obtain 50 mA·mgPt^(-1) for ammonia electrolysis under a two-electrode system.Therefore,this work shows an ingenious method to design bifunctional catalysts for ammonia electrolysis.

Real-time proprioception presents a significant challenge for soft robots due to their infinite degrees of freedom and intrinsic compliance.Previous studies mostly focused on specific sensors and actuators.There is still a lack of generalizable technologies for integrating soft sensing elements into soft actuators and mapping sensor signals to proprioception parameters.To tackle this problem,we employed multi-material 3D printing technology to fabricate sensorized soft-bending actuators(SBAs)using plain and conductive thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)filaments.We designed various geometric shapes for the sensors and investigated their strain-resistive performance during deformation.To address the nonlinear time-variant behavior of the sensors during dynamic modeling,we adopted a data-driven approach using different deep neural networks to learn the relationship between sensor signals and system states.A series of experiments in various actuation scenarios were conducted,and the results demonstrated the effectiveness of this approach.The sensing and shape prediction steps can run in real-time at a frequency of50 Hz on a consumer-level computer.Additionally,a method is proposed to enhance the robustness of the learning models using data augmentation to handle unexpected sensor failures.All the methods are efficient,not only for in-plane 2D shape estimation but also for out-of-plane 3D shape estimation.The aim of this study is to introduce a methodology for the proprioception of soft pneumatic actuators,including manufacturing and sensing modeling,that can be generalized to other soft robots.

The gasdermin(GSDM)family has garnered significant attention for its pivotal role in immunity and disease as a key player in pyroptosis.This recently characterized class of pore-forming effector proteins is pivotal in orchestrating processes such as membrane permeabilization,pyroptosis,and the follow-up inflammatory response,which are crucial self-defense mechanisms against irritants and infections.GSDMs have been implicated in a range of diseases including,but not limited to,sepsis,viral infections,and cancer,either through involvement in pyroptosis or independently of this process.The regulation of GSDM-mediated pyroptosis is gaining recognition as a promising therapeutic strategy for the treatment of various diseases.Current strategies for inhibiting GSDMD primarily involve binding to GSDMD,blocking GSDMD cleavage or inhibiting GSDMD-N-terminal(NT)oligomerization,albeit with some off-target effects.In this review,we delve into the cutting-edge understanding of the interplay between GSDMs and pyroptosis,elucidate the activation mechanisms of GSDMs,explore their associations with a range of diseases,and discuss recent advancements and potential strategies for developing GSDMD inhibitors.

Electromagnetic stirring is one of the widely applied techniques to modify the quality of casting billets.Different from conventional rotate stirring,the helical stirring is more professional in assisting multi-dimensional flow of molten metal and eliminating solidification defects.In this study,the single-winding helical stirring(SWHS)was introduced,offering advantages such as smaller volume and lower electromagnetic shielding compared to traditional helical stirring methods.Following a comprehensive numerical simulation,the stirring parameters of SWHS were adjusted to yoke inclination angle of 43°and frequency of 12 Hz.The higher electromagnetic force and flow velocity in drawing direction,as well as the lower temperature gradient induced by the SWHS,are positive factors for homogeneous solidification of billet.The experimental results on Al-8%Si alloy and 0.4%C-1.1%Mn steel demonstrate that compared to rotate stirring,the SWHS process can induce better billet quality and is more effective in accelerating the equiaxed expansion and reducing element segregation.The SWHS process can enhance the equiaxed ratio of the billet by 58.3%and reduce segregation degree of carbon element by 10.97%.Consequently,SWHS holds great promise as a potential approach for improving the quality of continuous casting billets.

Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)with inherent porosity and suspended acidic groups are promising proton conducting materials in water or aqua-ammonia media.Herein we report a new lanthanide phosphonate,namely,Dy_(2)(amp_(2)H_(2))_(2)(mal)(H_(2)O)_(2)·5H2O(MDAF-6).It possesses a 3D open-framework structure,and shows a high NH_(3)adsorption capacity of 142.4 cm^(3)/g at P/P0=0.98 at 298 K due to acid-base interaction.Interestingly,the proton conductivity of MDAF-6-NH3 is enhanced by five orders of magnitude compared to MDAF-6 after 8.5 h exposure in saturated NH_(3)-H_(2)O vapor,indicating the importance of coexistent conjugate acid-base pairs of H_(3)O+-H_(2)O and NH_(4)^(+)-NH_(3)in promoting proton conduction.Magnetic studies of MDAF-6 revealed slow magnetization relaxation under zero dc field,characteristic of singlemolecule magnet behavior.This work provides not only a new multifunctional MOF material,but also a new strategy to improve proton conduction in aqua-ammonia medium.

Urethral stricture is characterized by the chronic formation of fibrous tissue,leading to the narrowing of the urethral lumen.Despite the availability of various endoscopic treatments,the recurrence of urethral strictures remains a common challenge.Postsurgery pharmacotherapy targeting tissue fibrosis is a promising option for reducing recurrence rates.Although drugs cannot replace surgery,they can be used as adjuvant therapies to improve outcomes.In this regard,many drugs have been proposed based on the mechanisms underlying the pathophysiology of urethral stricture.Ongoing studies have obtained substantial progress in treating urethral strictures,highlighting the potential for improved drug effectiveness through appropriate clinical delivery methods.Therefore,this review summarizes the latest researches on the mechanisms related to the pathophysiology of urethral stricture and the drugs to provide a theoretical basis and new insights for the effective use and future advancements in drug therapy for urethral stricture.

Hybrid tri-memristor hyperchaotic map and application in Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Nets

Inspired by basic circuit connection methods, memristors can also be utilized in the construction of complex discrete chaotic systems. To investigate the dynamical effects of hybrid memristors, we propose two hybrid tri-memristor hyperchaotic(HTMH)mapping structures based on the hybrid parallel/cascade and cascade/parallel operations, respectively. Taking the HTMH mapping structure with hybrid parallel/cascade operation as an example, this map possesses a spatial invariant set whose stability is closely related to the initial states of the memristors. Dynamics distributions and bifurcation behaviours dependent on the control parameters are explored with numerical tools. Specifically, the memristor initial offset-boosting mechanism is theoretically demonstrated, and memristor initial offset-boosting behaviours are numerically verified. The results clarify that the HTMH map can exhibit hyperchaotic behaviours and extreme multistability with homogeneous coexisting infinite attractors. In addition, an FPGA hardware platform is fabricated to implement the HTMH map and generate pseudorandom numbers(PRNs)with high randomness. Notably, the generated PRNs can be applied in Wasserstein generative adversarial nets(WGANs) to enhance training stability and generation capability.

Non-orthogonality in non-Hermitian quantum systems gives rise to tremendous exotic quantum phenomena,which can be fundamentally traced back to non-unitarity.In this paper,we introduce an interesting quantity(denoted asη)as a new variant of the Petermann factor to directly and efficiently measure non-unitarity and the associated non-Hermitian physics.By tuning the model parameters of underlying non-Hermitian systems,we find that the discontinuity of bothηand its first-order derivative(denoted as■η)pronouncedly captures rich physics that is fundamentally caused by non-unitarity.More concretely,in the 1D non-Hermitian topological systems,two mutually orthogonal edge states that are respectively localized on two boundaries become non-orthogonal in the vicinity of discontinuity ofηas a function of the model parameter,which is dubbed"edge state transition".Through theoretical analysis,we identify that the appearance of edge state transition indicates the existence of exceptional points(EPs)in topological edge states.Regarding the discontinuity of■η,we investigate a two-level non-Hermitian model and establish a connection between the points of discontinuity of■ηand EPs of bulk states.By studying this connection in more general lattice models,we find that some models have discontinuity of■η,implying the existence of EPs in bulk states.

High-performance germanium photodiodes are crucial components in silicon photonic integrated circuits for large-capacity data communication.However,the bandwidths of most germanium photodiodes are limited by the intractable resistance–capacitance parasitic effect.Here,we introduce a unique U-shaped electrode to alleviate this issue,reducing the parasitic effect by 36%without compromising any other performance.Experimentally,a large bandwidth of 103 GHz,an optical responsivity of 0.95 A/W at 1550 nm,and a dark current as low as 1.3 nA are achieved,leading to a record high specific detectivity.This is the first breakthrough to 100 GHz bandwidth among all vertical germanium photodiodes,to the best of our knowledge.Open eye diagrams of 120 Gb/s on-off keying and 200 Gb/s four-level pulse amplitude signals are well received.This work provides a promising solution for chip-based ultra-fast photodetection.
