PBQ[1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(pyridin-3-yl)urea],an enormous potent molluscicide,showed excellent Pomacea canaliculata(***)control activity and low toxicity for other aquatic organisms,but its snail-killing mechanisms are still not fully *** employed an optical method to elucidate PBQ action via a novel fluorescent viscosity probe,*** the viscosity in the test solutions increased,compared with that in pure ethanol,a 54-fold fluorescence intensity enhancement of NCV was observed in 310 cP of 90%***,NCV successfully exhibited a selective fluorescence response towards monensin-induced cellular viscosity changes in HepG2 *** liver,stomach,and foot plantar of the tested snails were frozen and sectioned for fluorescent imaging experiments after the treatment with different PBQ concentrations over various times.A significant fluorescent increase in the snail's liver was observed upon exposure to 0.75 mg/L PBQ for 72 h,which highlighted an increase in *** and eosin(HE)staining further supported PBQ-induced liver damage with a viscosity increase in *** study provides a new rapid optical visualization method to study the killing mechanisms of PBQ and may help discover new chemicals that control snail populations.

Safety and effectiveness of balloon catheter-assiste d ultrasound-guide d percutaneous microwave ablation in difficult-site liver cancer

Background:Balloon catheter isolation is a promising auxiliary method for thermal ablation treatment of liver cancer. We aimed to explore the safety and effectiveness of balloon catheter isolation-assisted ultrasound-guided percutaneous microwave ablation (MWA) in treating liver cancer in difficult anatomical ***:Data of 132 patients with 145 difficult-site liver cancer treated with ultrasound-guided percutaneous MWA were retrospectively analyzed. Participants were classified into the isolation (n=40)and non-isolation (n=92) groups based on whether the patients were treated using a balloon catheter prior to ablation. The major complication rates, local tumor residuals (LTR), and tumor follow-up for local tumor progression (LTP) at 6 and 12 months post-ablation were compared between the two ***:The rates of major postoperative complications did not significantly differ between the isolation and non-isolation groups (2.5%vs. 4.3%, P=0.609). The postoperative LTR rates were significantly different between the isolation and non-isolation groups (4.8%vs. 17.5%, P=0.032). Balloon catheter isolation [odds ratio (OR)=0.225, 95%confidence interval (CI):0.085–0.595, P=0.009] and tumor diameter(OR=2.808, 95%CI:1.186–6.647, P=0.019) were identified as independent factors influencing LTR *** cumulative LTP rates at 6 and 12 months after ablation showed no significant differences between the isolation and non-isolation groups (2.6%vs. 7.9%, P=0.661; 4.9%vs. 9.8%, P=0.676, respectively).Cox proportional hazards regression analysis showed that tumor diameter was an independent risk factor for cumulative LTP rate (OR=3.445, 95%CI:1.406–8.437, P=0.017).Conclusions:Balloon catheter isolation-assisted MWA was safe and effective in the treatment of difficultsite liver cancer. Additionally, tumor diameter significantly influenced LTR and LTP rates after ablation.

Designing the counter pressure casting gating system for a large thin-walled cabin by machine learning

The design of casting gating system directly determines the solidification sequence, defect severity,and overall quality of the casting. A novel machine learning strategy was developed to design the counter pressure casting gating system of a large thin-walled cabin casting. A high-quality dataset was established through orthogonal experiments combined with design criteria for the gating system. Spearman's correlation analysis was used to select high-quality features. The gating system dimensions were predicted using a gated recurrent unit(GRU) recurrent neural network and an elastic network model. Using EasyCast and ProCAST casting software, a comparative analysis of the flow field, temperature field, and solidification field can be conducted to demonstrate the achievement of steady filling and top-down sequential solidification. Compared to the empirical formula method, this method eliminates trial-and-error iterations, reduces porosity, reduces casting defect volume from 11.23 cubic centimeters to 2.23 cubic centimeters, eliminates internal casting defects through the incorporation of an internally cooled iron, fulfilling the goal of intelligent gating system design.

Analysis of Spatiotemporal Trends and Variability in Precipitation Extremes over Tanzania during 1981-2023

This study examines the spatiotemporal trends and variability of precipitation extremes across Tanzania from 1981 to 2023, focusing on role of oceanic systems and large-scale climate phenomena. The analysis employed standardized extreme precipitation indices recommended by the Expert Team on Climate Change Detection and Indices. Spatial and temporal patterns were evaluated using empirical orthogonal function analysis, while Pearson correlation coefficients and the Mann-Kendall test were used to determ8ine the significance of trends and relationships. The results highlight pronounced spatial contrasts, with central and southern regions experiencing more intense and frequent extreme rainfall, including consecutive wet days, heavy precipitation events, and higher daily rainfall intensities. These regions exhibit significant upward trends, indicating heightened vulnerability to extreme wet conditions, while the northern areas experience fewer wet spells and lower overall precipitation. The first principal component captures a pattern of intensified precipitation in the southern and central regions, whereas the second principal component reveals a north-south gradient characterized by sustained moderate rainfall in the north and intense, short-duration rainfall in the south. Large-scale climate oscillations, including the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation, the El Niño-Southern Oscillation, the Indian Ocean Dipole, and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, play a critical role in shaping regional precipitation extremes. These phenomena influence the frequency, spatial distribution, and intensity of rainfall through mechanisms such as atmospheric pressure anomalies, moisture convergence, and cyclonic activity. For instance, high-pressure systems in the North Pacific suppress rainfall, while cyclonic systems in the eastern Indian Ocean enhance convective activity and moisture availability.

The operation of aqueous zinc-ion batteries in flexible energy storage field is plagued by the uncontrollable growth of Zn-dendrite and inevitable freeze of water below 0 ℃.Therefore,it is necessary to design a hydrogel electrolyte with good mechanical property and freezing resistance to uniform the Zn-deposition and resist flexibility loss at low *** find that the mechanical property(strength and toughness)of hydrogel electrolyte has a significant impact on the suppression of dendrite growth and the uniform deposition of zinc ***,a polyacrylate hydrogel is prepared in one step by ultraviolet(UV)curing method with Zn(CF_(3)SO_(3))_(2)salt and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)addition to increase the antifreezing ability and mechanical *** adsorption of water molecules by 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate(HEA)and PVA reduces the freezing point of the hydrogel,which is beneficial for enhancing the electrochemical stability at low *** this basis,the Zn-symmetrical battery with hydrogel electrolyte has a long lifespan of 4710 h at 0.5 mA·cm^(-2)and 0.5 mAh·cm^(-2)at room ***,the hydrogel electrolyte exhibits an outstanding stability at low temperature of^(-2)0 ℃,the lifespan of symmetrical battery reaches to 4000 h at 0.5 mA·cm^(-2)and 0.5 mAh·cm^(-2).The assembled full cell with NaV3O8·1.5H_(2)O(NVO)cathode and hydrogel electrolyte possesses a high capacity retention ratio of 77%after 10,000 cycles at^(-2)0 ℃.The flexible cell can power light-emitting diode(LED)lamp under bending,warping and cutting without liquid leakage and an electronic watch at the operating temperature of^(-2)0 ℃.
