Exploring the Roles of Single Atom in Hydrogen Peroxide Photosynthesis

This comprehensive review provides a deep exploration of the unique roles of single atom catalysts(SACs)in photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))production.SACs offer multiple benefits over traditional catalysts such as improved efficiency,selectivity,and flexibility due to their distinct electronic structure and unique properties.The review discusses the critical elements in the design of SACs,including the choice of metal atom,host material,and coordination environment,and how these elements impact the catalytic activity.The role of single atoms in photocatalytic H_(2)O_(2)production is also analysed,focusing on enhancing light absorption and charge generation,improving the migration and separation of charge carriers,and lowering the energy barrier of adsorption and activation of reactants.Despite these advantages,several challenges,including H_(2)O_(2)decomposition,stability of SACs,unclear mechanism,and low selectivity,need to be overcome.Looking towards the future,the review suggests promising research directions such as direct utilization of H_(2)O_(2),high-throughput synthesis and screening,the creation of dual active sites,and employing density functional theory for investigating the mechanisms of SACs in H_(2)O_(2)photosynthesis.This review provides valuable insights into the potential of single atom catalysts for advancing the field of photocatalytic H_(2)O_(2)production.

Self-assembly fabrication of lignin-derived carbon with dual heteroatoms doping for high-performance supercapacitor

Renewable and low-cost biomass is an ideal sustainable alternative to petroleum-based resources,but producing biomass-based carbon electrode with high performances remains a challenge.Herein,we propose a facile self-assembly strategy to fabricate a biomass-derived N,S co-doping carbon electrode from lignosulfonate without any activation or template process.Taking advantage of the coordination between Fe ions and lignosulfonate,the resultant carbon exhibits a spherical structure with abundant graphitized nanosheets,leading to a high specific surface area with rational pore structure,which are beneficial to the electron/ion transport and storage.The high contents of doping N(8.47 wt%)and S(2.56 wt%)significantly boost the electrochemical performances.As a supercapacitor electrode,the carbon material displays high specific capacitance of 390 F g^(-1),excellent cycling stability and high energy density of 14.7 W h kg^(-1)at a power density of 450 W kg^(-1).This study provides a potential strategy for synthesizing cost-effective heteroatom-doped carbon materials from biomass with abundant functional groups and heteroatom sources,such as chitosan,collagen,and gelatin.

BACKGROUND Carotid artery pseudoaneurysm(PSA)is infrequently encountered in clinical settings.Internal carotid artery(ICA)PSA complicated with ischemic stroke is rare.PSAs are typically caused by iatrogenic injury,trauma,or infection.The underlying mechanisms of spontaneous PSA formation are not well characterized.We report a healthy young man who presented with stroke as a complication of spontaneous PSA of the left ICA.CASE SUMMARY A 30-year-old man working as a ceiling decoration worker was hospitalized due to sudden-onset speech disorder and right lower extremity weakness.Medical history was unremarkable.Brain computed tomography revealed ischemic stroke.Digital subtraction angiography showed a left ICA PSA with mild stenosis.The patient was conservatively managed with oral anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapy.He recovered well and was discharged.The patient was in good condition during follow-up.CONCLUSION The occupational history of patient should be taken into consideration while evaluating the etiology of spontaneous ICA PSA in young people with stroke.

Three-dimensional(3D)printing has gained popularity in a variety of applications,particularly in the manufacture of wearable devices.Aided by the large degree of freedom in customizable fabrication,3D printing can cater towards the practical requirements of wearable devices in terms of light weight and flexibility.In particular,this focus review aims to cover the important aspect of wearable energy storage devices(WESDs),which is an essential component of most wearable devices.Herein,the topics discussed are the fundamentals of 3D printing inks used,the optimizing strategies in improving the mechanical and electrochemical properties of wearable devices and the recent developments and challenges of wearable electrochemical systems such as batteries and supercapacitors.It can be expected that,with the development of 3D printing technology,realization of the full potential of WESDs and seamless integration into smart devices also needs further in-depth investigations.

Objective:To explore the anti-inflammatory effects of ethyl lithospermate in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-stimulated RAW 264.7 murine-derived macrophages and zebrafish,and its underlying mechanisms.Methods:3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazoliumbromide(MTT)assays were performed to investigate the toxicity of ethyl lithospermate at different concentrations(12.5–100μmol/L)in RAW 264.7 cells.The cells were stimulated with LPS(100 ng/mL)for 12 h to establish an inflammation model in vitro,the production of proinflammatory cytokines interleukin(IL)-6 and tumor necrosis factorα(TNF-α)were assessed by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Western blot was used to ascertain the protein expressions of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3),nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB)p65,phospho-STAT3(p-STAT3,Tyr705),inhibitor of NF-κB(IκB)α,and phospho-IκBα(p-IκBα,Ser32),and confocal imaging was used to identify the nuclear translocation of NF-κB p65 and p-STAT3(Tyr705).Additionally,the yolk sacs of zebrafish(3 days post fertilization)were injected with 2 nL LPS(0.5 mg/mL)to induce an inflammation model in vivo.Survival analysis,hematoxylin-eosin(HE)staining,observation of neutrophil migration,and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qR T-PCR)were used to further study the anti-inflammatory effects of ethyl lithospermate and its probable mechanisms in vivo.Results:The non-toxic concentrations of ethyl lithospermate have been found to range from 12.5 to 100μmol/L.Ethyl lithospermate inhibited the release of IL-6 and TNF-α(P<0.05 or P<0.01),decreased IκBαdegradation and phosphorylation(P<0.05)as well as the nuclear translocation of NF-κB p65 and p-STAT3(Tyr705)in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells(P<0.01).Ethyl lithospermate also decreased inflammatory cells infiltration and neutrophil migration while increasing the survival rate of LPS-stimulated zebrafish(P<0.05 or P<0.01).In addition,ethyl lithospermate also inhibited the mR NA expression levels of of IL-6,TNF-α,IκBα,STAT3,and NF-κB in LPS-stimulated

Photosensitized heterogeneous CO_(2) reduction(PHCR)has emerged as a promising means to convert CO_(2) into valuable chemicals,however,challenged by the relatively low carbonaceous product selectivity caused by the competing hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Here,we report a PHCR system that couples Ru(bpy)32+photosensitizer with{001}faceted LiCoO_(2) nanosheets photocatalyst to simultaneously yield 21.2 and 722μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1) of CO,and 4.42 and 108μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1) of CH4 under the visible light and the simulated sunlight irradiations,respectively,with completely suppressed HER.The experimental and theoretical studies reveal that the favored CO_(2) adsorption on the exposed Li sites on{001}faceted LiCoO_(2) surface is responsible for the completely suppressed HER.

Lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced inflammation causes massive threatening diseases,such as sepsis,acute lung injury and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.Efficient treatment to prevent inflammation is crucial in LPS-induced inflammatory diseases.Heat-clearing Chinese medicines(CMs)have been used to ameliorate LPS-induced inflammation in China for centuries.Heat-clearing CMs regulate inflammatory pathways,thereby inhibiting the release of inflammatory factors.This review aimed to introduce promising heat-clearing CMs countering LPS-induced inflammation in the last 5 years,exploring the underlying molecular mechanisms.

Enhanced Thermochemical H_2 Production on Ca-Doped Lanthanum Manganite Perovskites Through Optimizing the Dopant Level and Re-oxidation Temperature

Perovskite material is one of the promising classes of redox catalysts for hydrogen production through two-step ther-mochemical H20 splitting.Herein,an analogue of La1-xCaxMnO3 perovskite was systematically investigated as a catalyst for thermochemical H2 evolution.The Ca doping level（x = 0.2,0.4,0.6,0.8）and re-oxidation temperature were com-prehensively optimized for the improvement of catalytic performance.According to our experimental results,La0.6-Ca0.4MnO3 perovskite displayed the highest yield of H2 at the re-oxidation temperature of 900℃ and the obtained H2 production was -10 times higher than that of the benchmark ceria catalyst under the same experimental condition.More importantly,Lao.6Ca0.4MnO3 perovskite catalyst exhibited impressive cyclic stability in repetitive O2 and H2 test.

Abnormal resting-state functional network centrality in patients with high myopia： evidence from a voxel-wise degree centrality analysis

AIM： To investigate the functional networks underlying the brain-activity changes of patients with high myopia using the voxel-wise degree centrality（DC） method.METHODS： In total, 38 patients with high myopia（HM）（17 males and 21 females）, whose binocular refractive diopter were-6.00 to-7.00 D, and 38 healthy controls（17 males and 21 females）, closely matched in age, sex, and education levels, participated in the study. Spontaneous brain activities were evaluated using the voxel-wise DC method. The receiver operating characteristic curve was measured to distinguish patients with HM from healthy controls. Correlation analysis was used to explore the relationship between the observed mean DC values of the different brain areas and the behavioral performance.RESULTS： Compared with healthy controls, HM patients had significantly decreased DC values in the right inferior frontal gyrus/insula, right middle frontal gyrus, and right supramarginal/inferior parietal lobule（P〈0.05）. In contrast, HM patients had significantly increased DC values in the right cerebellum posterior lobe, left precentral gyrus/postcentral gyrus, and right middle cingulate gyrus（P〈0.05）. However, no relationship was found between the observed mean DC values of the different brain areas and the behavioral performance（P〉0.05）.CONCLUSION： HM is associated with abnormalities in many brain regions, which may indicate the neural mechanisms of HM. The altered DC values may be used as a useful biomarker for the brain activity changes in HM patients.

Altered intrinsic functional connectivity of the primary visual cortex in youth patients with comitant exotropia: a resting state fMRI study

AIM： To evaluate the differences in the functional connectivity（FC） of the primary visual cortex（V1） between the youth comitant exotropia（CE） patients and health subjects using resting functional magnetic resonance imaging（f MRI） data.METHODS： Totally, 32 CEs（25 males and 7 females） and 32 healthy control subjects（HCs）（25 males and 7 females） were enrolled in the study and underwent the MRI scanning. Two-sample t-test was used to examine differences in FC maps between the CE patients and HCs. RESULTS： The CE patients showed significantly less FC between the left brodmann area（BA17） and left lingual gyrus/cerebellum posterior lobe, right middle occipital gyrus, left precentral gyrus/postcentral gyrus and right inferior parietal lobule/postcentral gyrus. Meanwhile, CE patients showed significantly less FC between right BA17 and right middle occipital gyrus（BA19, 37）.CONCLUSION： Our findings show that CE involves abnormal FC in primary visual cortex in many regions, which may underlie the pathologic mechanism of impaired fusion and stereoscopic vision in CEs.
