Protein phosphorylation associated with drought priming-enhanced heat tolerance in a temperate grass species

Protein phosphorylation is known to play crucial roles in plant tolerance to individual stresses,but how protein phosphorylation is associated with cross-stress tolerance,particularly drought priming-enhanced heat tolerance is largely *** objectives of the present study were to identify phosphorylated proteins and phosphorylation sites that were responsive to drought priming and to determine whether drought priming-enhanced heat tolerance in temperate grass species involves changes in protein *** analysis of phosphoproteomic profiles was performed on leaves of tall fescue(Festuca arundinacea)exposed to heat stress(38/33°C,day/night)with or without drought priming.A total of 569 differentially regulated phosphoproteins(DRPs)with 1098 phosphorylation sites were identified in response to drought priming or heat stress individually or *** DRPs were nuclear-localized and cytosolic *** analysis detected[GS],[DSD],and[S..E]as major phosphorylation sites in casein kinase-II and mitogen-activated protein kinases regulated by drought priming and heat *** annotation and gene ontology analysis demonstrated that DRPs in response to drought priming and in droughtprimed plants subsequently exposed to heat stress were mostly enriched in four major biological processes,including RNA splicing,transcription control,stress protection/defense,and stress perception/*** results suggest the involvement of post-translational regulation of the aforementioned biological processes and signaling pathways in drought priming memory and cross-tolerance with heat stress in a temperate grass species.

Effects of rebinding rate and asymmetry in unbinding rate on cargo transport by multiple kinesin motors

Many intracellular transports are performed by multiple molecular motors in a cooperative ***,we use stochastic simulations to study the cooperative transport by multiple kinesin motors,focusing mainly on effects of the form of unbinding rate versus force and the rebinding rate of single motors on the cooperative *** consider two forms of the unbinding *** is the symmetric form with respect to the force direction,which is obtained according to Kramers *** other is the asymmetric form,which is obtained from the prior studies for the single kinesin *** the asymmetric form the simulated results of both velocity and run length of the cooperative transport by two identical motors and those by a kinesin-1 motor and a kinesin-2 motor are in quantitative agreement with the available experimental data,whereas with the symmetric form the simulated results are inconsistent with the experimental *** the cooperative transport by a faster motor and a much slower motor,the asymmetric form can give both larger velocity and longer run length than the symmetric form,giving an explanation for why kinesin adopts the asymmetric form of the unbinding rate rather than the symmetric *** the cooperative transport by two identical motors,while the velocity is nearly independent of the rebinding rate,the run length increases linearly with the rebinding *** the cooperative transport by two different motors,the increase of the rebinding rate of one motor also enhances the run length of the cooperative *** dynamics of transport by N(N=3,4,5,6,7 and 8)motors is also studied.

A Comparative Study of Supervised Classification Methods for Investigating Landslide Evolution in the Mianyuan River Basin,China

The Ms8.0 Wenchuan earthquake of 2008 dramatically changed the terrain surface and caused long-term increases in the scale and frequency of landslides and debris *** changing trend of landslides in the earthquake-affected area over the decade since the earthquake remains largely *** this study,we were able to address this issue using supervised classification methods and multitemporal remote sensing images to study landslide evolution in the worst-affected area(Mianyuan River Basin)over a period of ten *** images were processed using the maximum likelihood method and random forest algorithm to automatically map landslide occurrence from 2007 to *** principal findings are as follows:(1)when compared with visual image analysis,the random forest algorithm had a good average accuracy rate of 87%for landslide identification;(2)postevent landslide occurrence has generally decreased with time,but heavy monsoonal seasons have caused temporary spikes in activity;and(3)the postearthquake landslide activity in the Mianyuan River Basin can be divided into a strong activity period(2008 to 2011),medium activity period(2012 to 2016),and weak activity period(post 2017).Landslide activity remains above the prequake level,with damaging events being rare but continuing to ***-term remote sensing and on-site monitoring are required to understand the evolution of landslide activity after strong earthquakes.

Ultrahigh sensitive near-infrared photodetectors based on MoTe2/germanium heterostructure

The efficient near-infrared light detection of the MoTe2/germanium(Ge)heterojunction has been *** fabricated MoTe2/Ge van der Waals heterojunction shows excellent photoresponse performances under the illumination of a 915 nm *** photoresponsivity and specific detectivity can reach to 12,460 A/W and 3.3×10^12 Jones,*** the photoresponse time is 5 ***,the MoTe2/Ge heterojunction suffers from a large reverse current at dark due to the low barrier between MoTe2 and ***,to reduce the reverse current,an ultrathin GeO2 layer deposited by ozone oxidation has been introduced to the MoTe2/Ge *** reverse current of the MoTe2/GeO2/Ge heterojunction at dark was suppressed from 0.44µA/µm^2 to 0.03 nA/µm^2,being reduced by more than four orders of *** MoTe2/Ge heterojunction with the GeO2 layer also exhibits good photoresponse performances,with a high responsivity of 15.6 A/W,short response time of 5 ms,and good specific detectivity of 4.86×10^11 *** properties suggest that MoTe2/Ge heterostructure is one of the promising structures for the development of high performance near-infrared photodetectors.

A novel method for extracting vanadium by low temperature sodium roasting from converter vanadium slag

Long-term high temperature in conventional vanadium extraction process would cause particles to be sintered and wrapped, thus reducing extraction efficiency of vanadium. Based on the purpose of directional conversion and process intensification, this work proposed a combination of low temperature sodium roasting and high efficiency selective oxidation leaching in vanadium extraction. The investigation of the reaction mechanism suggested that the structure of vanadium slag was changed by roasting, which also caused the fracture of *** addition of MnO2 promoted the directional oxidation of low-valent vanadium into high valence. It also found that Na2S2O8 could oxidize low-valent vanadium effectively in leaching. The leaching efficiency of vanadium reached 87.74% under the optimum conditions, including a roasting temperature of 650 ℃, a roasting time of 2.0 h, a molar ratio of sodium-to-vanadium of 0.6, a MnO2(roasting additive) dosage of 5 wt% and a Na2S2O8(leaching oxidant) dosage of 5 wt%. This percentage is 7.18% higher than that of direct roasting-andleaching under the same conditions.

Synthesis of high-purity mesoporous nanosilica microspheres from retired composite insulators based on orthogonal experiment

Silicone rubber is an indispensable insulation material for power equipment and is difficult to degrade naturally,posing a serious threat to the *** remains challenging to dispose this alarming amount of *** our previous research,a green pyrolysis recycling method was proposed for waste composite *** this article,the experimental device was further improved,and the recycling process was optimised by orthogonal experiments to obtain nanosilica microspheres(NSMs)with higher purity and controllable particle size for the state-of-the-art engineering ***,the effect of three factors(calcination temperature,constant-temperature duration,and heating rate)on the particle size of NSMs were investigated by single-factor *** and response analyses were then used to examine the goodness of fit of the multi-parameter fitting equation and the interaction impact of multiple factors on the particle ***,homogeneous mesoporous NSMs with higher purity(increased from 97%to 99%)and smaller particle size(decreased from 160 to 103 nm were prepared under the guidance of *** SiO_(2)-recovery rate of this method was 74.7%,revealing superior economic value.

Statistical prediction of waterflooding performance by K-means clustering and empirical modeling

Effects of Annealing Below Glass Transition Temperature on the Wettability and Corrosion Performance of Fe-based Amorphous Coatings

This study investigated the effect of annealing below glass transition temperature(T_(g))on the microstructural characteristics,mechanical property,wettability,and electrochemical performance of activated combustion-high velocity air fuel(AC-HVAF)-sprayed Fe-Cr-Mo-W-C-B-Y amorphous coatings(ACs).Results showed that Fe-based ACs with a thickness of~300μm exhibited a fully amorphous structure with low *** from the reduced free volume,sub-T_(g) annealing increased the thermal stability,hardness,and surface hydrophobicity of Fe-based *** enhanced corrosion resistance of sub-T_(g) annealed ACs in 3.5 wt%NaCl solution was attributed to the increased surface hydrophobicity and passivation *** finding elucidates the correlation between sub-T_(g) annealing and the properties of Fe-based ACs,which promotes ameliorating ACs with superior performance.

High-performance Fe-N-C electrocatalysts with a "chain mail" protective shield

Nitrogen-coordinated iron atoms on carbon supports(Fe-N-C)are among the most promising noble-metal-free electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).However,their unsatisfactory stability limits their prac-tical ***,we demonstrate a dual-shell Fe-N-C electrocatalyst with excellent catalytic activity and long-term *** and dopamine are sequentially polymerized on a fumed silica nanoparticle *** precursor(FeCl_(3))and pore formation agent(ZnCl_(2))were loaded on the inner polypyrrole *** carbonization,the Zn evaporation creates abundant mesopores in the polydopamine-derived outer carbon shell,forming a "chain mail"like outer shell that protects Fe-N-C active sites loaded on the inner carbon shell and enables efficient mass *** tuning of the shield thickness and porosity affords the optimal electrocatalyst with a large surface area of 934 m^(2)g^(-1) and a high Fe loading of 2.04 wt%.This electrocatalyst delivers excellent ORR activity and superior stability in both acidic and alkaline *** Zn-air batteries fabricated from this electrocatalyst delivers a high-power density of 257 mW cm^(-2) and impressive durability of continuous discharging over 250 *** a graphitic and porous carbon protective shell can be further extended to other electrocatalysts to enable their practical applications in energy conversion and storage.
