Bayesian partial pooling to reduce uncertainty in overcoring rock stress estimation

The state of in situ stress is a crucial parameter in subsurface engineering,especially for critical projects like nuclear waste repository.As one of the two ISRM suggested methods,the overcoring(OC)method is widely used to estimate the full stress tensors in rocks by independent regression analysis of the data from each OC test.However,such customary independent analysis of individual OC tests,known as no pooling,is liable to yield unreliable test-specific stress estimates due to various uncertainty sources involved in the OC method.To address this problem,a practical and no-cost solution is considered by incorporating into OC data analysis additional information implied within adjacent OC tests,which are usually available in OC measurement campaigns.Hence,this paper presents a Bayesian partial pooling(hierarchical)model for combined analysis of adjacent OC tests.We performed five case studies using OC test data made at a nuclear waste repository research site of Sweden.The results demonstrate that partial pooling of adjacent OC tests indeed allows borrowing of information across adjacent tests,and yields improved stress tensor estimates with reduced uncertainties simultaneously for all individual tests than they are independently analysed as no pooling,particularly for those unreliable no pooling stress estimates.A further model comparison shows that the partial pooling model also gives better predictive performance,and thus confirms that the information borrowed across adjacent OC tests is relevant and effective.

Effect of Frequency on Degradation in BOPP Films Under Repetitively Pulsed Voltage

Operating conditions of film capacitors are complex,and the problem of film insulation failure caused by repetitively pulsed voltage is becoming ever serious.Degradation of the film under repetitively pulsed voltage cannot be accurately evaluated by the average breakdown electric field.In this paper,the effects of pulsed electric field and pulse repetition frequency on the breakdown in biaxially oriented polypropylene(BOPP)films are investigated.Three phases of BOPP degradation are proposed based on the voltage amplitude,i.e.,maintenance(M),decline(D),and near-zero(N).Evolution of the BOPP film from degradation to breakdown at different frequencies is presented.Meanwhile,transition of discharge mode and elemental composition of the film are analyzed.Experimental results show continuous heat generation under repetitive microsecond pulses is the dominant factor for degradation of BOPP film.The number of applied pulses and the repetitive stressing time decrease exponentially with increase of frequency.This research can be contributed to the safe and reliable operation of capacitors.

Strain-enhanced polarization sensitivity inβ-Ga_(2)O_(3)photodetector

Polarization-sensitive photodetection and imaging have great application value in fields such as polarization division multiplexing optical communication,remote sensing,near-field imaging and military monitoring.Pursuing a high polarization ratio has always been the research hotspot in polarization-sensitive photodetectors.In this paper,we report a compression strain enhanced polarization ratio inβ-gallium oxide(β-Ga_(2)O_(3))single crystal flake.A rigorous crystallographic analysis confirmed its high crystalline quality and orientation.Angle-resolved polarization Raman spectroscopy(ARPRS)was adopted to study the anisotropy of its optical properties.Extensive ARPRS measurements and theoretical calculation consistently demonstrate the strong optical anisotropy in the high-qualityβ-Ga_(2)O_(3)flake.A polarization ratio of 0.96 was obtained in the flatβ-Ga_(2)O_(3)flake.Furthermore,mechanical strain of±0.7%was introduced intoβ-Ga_(2)O_(3).An increased polarization ratio of 0.98 was achieved in the case of 0.7%compression strain,which is,to the best of our knowledge,the highest value for UVC polarization-sensitive photodetectors.That corresponds to an improved polarization rejection ratio of 100.This work proposed a new path towards improving polarization sensitivity by applying strain engineering in the active material.

Supercapacitors(SCs)are considered promising energy storge systems because of their outstanding power density,fast charge and discharge rate and long-term cycling stability.The exploitation of cheap and efficient electrode materials is the key to improve the performance of supercapacitors.As the battery-type materials,transition metal phosphides(TMPs)possess high theoretical specific capacity,good electrical conductivity and superior structural stability,which have been extensively studied to be electrode materials for supercapacitors.In this review,we summarize the up-to-date progress on TMPs materials from diversified synthetic methods,diverse nanostructures and several prominent TMPs and their composites in application of supercapacitors.In the end,we also propose the remaining challenges toward the rational discovery and synthesis of high-performance TMP electrodes materials for energy storage.

Effects of Pearl Yangxin Anshen Decoction on HAMD and PTSD-SS Scores, Cytokines and Related Metabolites in Patients with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Objective: This paper aims to observe the Pearl Yangxin Anshen Decoction to influence the score of HAMD and PTSD-SS, the changes of the cytokines and the related metabolic product in patients with PTSD. Methods: From June 2015 to May 2016, in the traditional Chinese medicine clinics of Hainan Province People’s Hospital, there were 50 patients with PTSD, the age were from 30 to 60, they were randomly divided into treatment group (25 cases) and control group (25 cases), then compared the scores of HAMD and PTSD-SS between the two groups, searched the changes of cytokines and the related metabolic product. Results: In the treatment group: before and after treatment the scores of PTSD-SS were 65.64 ± 7.02, 28.32 ± 4.18, and the scores of HAMD were 29.28 ± 1.97, 11.72 ± 2.13;In the control group: before and after treatment the scores of PTSD-SS were 63.24 ± 6.16, 31.40 ± 4.29, the scores of HAMD were 30.24 ± 2.05, 13.08 ± 2.30. After 3 months patients in treatment group the scores of PTSD-SS and HAMD were lower than the control group (t = 2.570, P = 0.013, t = -2.1640, P = 0.035). In the control group: before and after 3 months treatment the IL-2 levels respectively were 79.84 ± 26.46 pg/ml, 56.18 ± 22.67 pg/ml, the IL-6 levels respectively were 110.83 ± 47.65 pg/ml, 59.67 ± 44.68 pg/ml, the IL-8 levels respectively were 73.11 ± 78.51 pg/ml, 55.83 ± 81.94 pg/ml, the NE levels respectively were 420.04 ± 674.75 pg/ml, 185.31 ± 417.91 pg/ml, the MDA levels respectively were 112.35 ± 62.87 ng/ml, 60.42.33 ± 53.64 ng/ml, the NO levels were 126.6 ± 47.4 μmol/L, 78.6 ± 45.7 μmol/L, the VIP levels were 396.6 ± 144.4 pg/ml, 122.4 ± 111.5 pg/ml. In the treatment group: before and after 3 months treatment the IL-2 levels respectively were 86.00 ± 32.29 pg/ml, 53.84 ± 27.01 pg/ml, the IL-6 levels respectively were 108.21 ± 44.60 pg/ml, 42.46 ± 42.16 pg/ml, the IL-8 levels respectively were 81.48 ± 94.19 pg/ml, 54.07 ± 84.15 pg/ml, the NE levels respectively were 392.93 ± 592.84 pg/ml, 243.85 ± 588.45 pg/ml, the MDA levels respect

A study on the influencing factors of rural tourism promoting households'shared prosperity in Yinan County of Shandong Province

This study examines the influencing factors of rural tourism in promoting shared prosperity among households,using the case study of Yinan County in Shandong province,China.The research aims to provide insights into the economic benefits experienced by low-income households in the context of rural tourism development.Based on field research conducted from April 8,2023,to May 17,2023,including interviews and site visits,the study constructs an evaluation index system to assess the influencing factors.Through expert scoring and the application of a weighted set-valued mathematical statistical model,the importance and quantification of each factor are determined.The results indicate that the current stage of promoting shared prosperity through rural tourism in Yinan County is primarily influenced by the scale of tourist consumption of external visitors.This factor outweighs others such as the participation capacity and willingness of low-income households,the capacity of investment enterprises,and the policies and financial allocation of the local government.The findings emphasize the significance of external visitor spending and highlight the need to address the obstacles faced by low-income households in accessing economic benefits.The evaluation index system and measurement model presented in this study offer a scientific basis for assessing and improving the income situation of low-income households in rural tourism development initiatives.However,it is crucial to note that the importance of these influencing factors may evolve with the lifecycle of the tourism destination.Future research should include long-term tracking and consider a broader range of indicators to deepen our understanding of their mechanisms and significance.Furthermore,alternative approaches and theories may provide valuable perspectives for further exploration in this field.

With the continuous expansion of medical student enrollment,the number of clinical teaching bases is gradually increasing.However,there are significant differences in clinical teaching management models and teaching levels among different bases.Most clinical teaching bases have incomplete teaching management systems,inadequate teaching management institutions,insufficient teaching personnel,and inadequate implementation of teaching rules and regulations.This article combines the construction practice of three-level clinical teaching base of the General Medicine College and the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Medical University.We establish a standardized management system for the three-level clinical teaching base;implement a teaching supervision system and strengthen the monitoring of teaching quality;adopt multiple evaluations to test the effectiveness of clinical teaching implementation;explore the path of homogenization construction of teaching bases in terms of unified teacher training,promoting the development of teacher teaching abilities with equal quality and excellence,and providing a reference for improving the quality of medical talent training.

Derivation of Expanded Isospectral-Nonisospectral Integrable Hierarchies via the Column-vector Loop Algebra

A scheme for generating nonisospectral integrable hierarchies is introduced.Based on the method,we deduce a nonisospectral hierarchy of soliton equations by considering a linear spectral problem.It follows that the corresponding expanded isospectral and nonisospectral integrable hierarchies are deduced based on a 6 dimensional complex linear space ■.By reducing these integrable hierarchies,we obtain the expanded isospectral and nonisospectral derivative nonlinear Schr?dinger equation.By using the trace identity,the biHamiltonian structure of these two hierarchies are also obtained.Moreover,some symmetries and conserved quantities of the resulting hierarchy are discussed.

Mechanism of selective laser trabeculoplasty:a systemic review

Although selective laser trabeculoplasty(SLT)is a recognized method for the treatment of glaucoma,the exact changes in the target tissue and mechanism for its intraocular pressure lowing effect are still unclear.The purpose of this review is to summarize the potential mechanisms of SLT on trabecular meshwork both in vivo and in vitro,so as to reveal the potential mechanism of SLT.SLT may induce immune or inflammatory response in trabecular meshwork(TM)induced by possible oxidative damage etc,and remodel extracellular matrix.It may also induce monocytes to aggregate in TM tissue,increase Schlemm’s canal(SC)cell conductivity,disintegrate cell junction and promote permeability through autocrine and paracrine forms.This provides a theoretical basis for SLT treatment in glaucoma.
