Intestinal microecological transplantation for a patient with chronic radiation enteritis:A case report

BACKGROUND The gut microbiota is strongly associated with radiation-induced gut damage.This study aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of intestinal microecological transplantation for treating patients with chronic radiation enteritis.CASE SUMMARY A 64-year-old female with cervical cancer developed abdominal pain,diarrhea,and blood in the stool 1 year after radiotherapy.An electronic colonoscopy was performed to diagnose chronic radiation enteritis.Two courses of intestinal microecological transplantation and full-length 16S rRNA microbiological analysis were performed.The patient experienced short-and long-term relief from symptoms without adverse effects.Whole 16S rRNA sequencing revealed significant differences in the intestinal flora’s composition between patient and healthy donors.Pathogenic bacteria,such as Escherichia fergusonii and Romboutsia timonensis,were more in the patient.Beneficial bacteria such as Faecalibacterium prausnitzii,Fusicatenibacter saccharivorans,Ruminococcus bromii,and Bifidobacterium longum were more in the healthy donors.Intestinal microbiota transplantation resulted in a significant change in the patient's intestinal flora composition.The composition converged with the donor's flora,with an increase in core beneficial intestinal bacteria,such as Eubacterium rectale,and a decrease in pathogenic bacteria.Changes in the intestinal flora corresponded with the patients'alleviating clinical symptoms.CONCLUSION Intestinal microecological transplantation is an effective treatment for relieving the clinical symptoms of chronic radiation enteritis by altering the composition of the intestinal flora.This study provides a new approach for treating patients with chronic radiation enteritis.

DGMP: Identifying Cancer Driver Genes by Jointing DGCN and MLP from Multi-omics Genomic Data

Identification of cancer driver genes plays an important role in precision oncology research,which is helpful to understand cancer initiation and progression.However,most existing computational methods mainly used the protein–protein interaction(PPI)networks,or treated the directed gene regulatory networks(GRNs)as the undirected gene–gene association networks to identify the cancer driver genes,which will lose the unique structure regulatory information in the directed GRNs,and then affect the outcome of the cancer driver gene identification.Here,based on the multi-omics pan-cancer data(i.e.,gene expression,mutation,copy number variation,and DNA methylation),we propose a novel method(called DGMP)to identify cancer driver genes by jointing directed graph convolutional network(DGCN)and multilayer perceptron(MLP).DGMP learns the multi-omics features of genes as well as the topological structure features in GRN with the DGCN model and uses MLP to weigh more on gene features for mitigating the bias toward the graph topological features in the DGCN learning process.The results on three GRNs show that DGMP outperforms other existing state-of-the-art methods.The ablation experimental results on the Dawn Net network indicate that introducing MLP into DGCN can offset the performance degradation of DGCN,and jointing MLP and DGCN can effectively improve the performance of identifying cancer driver genes.DGMP can identify not only the highly mutated cancer driver genes but also the driver genes harboring other kinds of alterations(e.g.,differential expression and aberrant DNA methylation)or genes involved in GRNs with other cancer genes.The source code of DGMP can be freely downloaded from https://***/NWPU-903PR/DGMP.

Cavitation in water generally takes place at much lower negative pressure than predicted from theories.In this work,we try to stress the discrepancy from the influence of the dissolved gas on cavitation nucleation.By combining molecular dynamics simulation and thermodynamic analysis,we evaluated the lowering of surface tension as a function of density of gas molecules in gas clusters formed in aqueous solution.We found that the obtained surface tension of small gas clusters is much more substantially reduced than expected.The surface tension lowering and the non-ideality of gas molecules in the clusters are then taken into account in determining the nucleation of cavitation,and as a consequence,the required negative pressure for cavitation becomes comparable to experimental values.Thus,we give an alternative explanation for the discrepancy of cavitation pressure between experiment and theory,i.e.,it is the substantially reduced surface tension for small gas nuclei,which have not been taken into account in theory,along with the ideal gas approxiamtion that induce its deviation from the experimental values.

Text event mining,as an indispensable method of text mining processing,has attracted the extensive attention of researchers.A modeling method for knowledge graph of events based on mutual information among neighbor domains and sparse representation is proposed in this paper,i.e.UKGE-MS.Specifically,UKGE-MS can improve the existing text mining technology's ability of understanding and discovering high-dimensional unmarked information,and solves the problems of traditional unsupervised feature selection methods,which only focus on selecting features from a global perspective and ignoring the impact of local connection of samples.Firstly,considering the influence of local information of samples in feature correlation evaluation,a feature clustering algorithm based on average neighborhood mutual information is proposed,and the feature clusters with certain event correlation are obtained;Secondly,an unsupervised feature selection method based on the high-order correlation of multi-dimensional statistical data is designed by combining the dimension reduction advantage of local linear embedding algorithm and the feature selection ability of sparse representation,so as to enhance the generalization ability of the selected feature items.Finally,the events knowledge graph is constructed by means of sparse representation and l1 norm.Extensive experiments are carried out on five real datasets and synthetic datasets,and the UKGE-MS are compared with five corresponding algorithms.The experimental results show that UKGE-MS is better than the traditional method in event clustering and feature selection,and has some advantages over other methods in text event recognition and discovery.

Effects of mulch and planting methods on Medicago ruthenica seed yield and soil physical-chemical properties

Medicago ruthenica (L.) Trautv., a wild grass species, is commonly grown as a forage crop in arid and semi-arid areas of China. Herein, we explored mulch patterns and planting methods for optimizing M. ruthenica seed production in the loess plateau of the Gansu Province, China from 2017 to 2019. The experiments comprised of six treatments including (1) flat ground without mulch (F0, control);(2) flat ground with a transparent white 0.008 mm thick plastic film mulch (FP);(3) flat ground with 4500 kg/hm2 straw mulch (FS);(4) furrow with 10 cm ridges (R0);(5) furrow with plastic film mulch (RP);and (6) furrow with straw mulch (RS). Results showed that the harvested seed yield of M. ruthenica was the highest under RP treatment, followed by FP and FS treatments. Soil moisture content from mid-May to mid-August in 2017 was the highest under RP and FP treatments, followed by RS and FS treatments. In 2018, soil moisture content was the highest under RS and FS treatments. In 2017 and 2018, soil temperature was the highest under FP and RP treatments, followed by F0 and R0 treatments. Total and available nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium contents were the highest under RS and FS treatments, followed by RP and FP treatments. Comprehensive analysis result showed that surface mulch improved soil microenvironment and increased seed yield of M. ruthenica. Straw mulch also effectively recycled excess crop straw, thereby encouraging the sustainable development of agriculture in this area. In conclusion, FS treatment was considered the best mode for M. ruthenica seed production in this area.

Herein,we report an iridium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of hydantoin and thiazolidinedione derived exocyclic alkenes using our developed BiphPHOX as a ligand.The transformation shows good functional group tolerance,and gives the hydrogenated prod-ucts with excellent yields(up to 99%)and enantioselectivities(up to 98%ee).A gram-scale reaction was also carried out,and pro-vided the hydrogenated product in excellent yield with no erosion in enantioselectivity.Finally,the transformation of the hydrogen-ated product provided an efficient approach for the synthesis of the intermediate of a HIV protease inhibitor.

Numerical investigation of a muzzle multiphase flow field using two underwater launch methods

A two-dimensional axisymmetric model, employing a dynamic mesh and user-defined functions, is used to numerically simulate the transient multiphase flow field produced by an underwater gun. Furthermore, a visualized shooting experiment platform with a high-speed camera is built to observe the evolution process of such a multiphase flow field. The simulated phase distribution diagram is agreed well with the shadow photo of the experiment, indicating that the numerical model is reasonable. Further examinations of the multiphase flow fields by using the submerged and sealed launch methods show that use of the sealed launch can significantly improve the interior ballistic performance of an underwater gun. In the cases by using these two types of underwater launch methods, the displacement of the projectile within the range of the muzzle flow field meets the exponential law over time. Moreover, a not fully developed bottle-shaped shock wave is formed when t = 0.4 ms, but this bottle-shaped shock wave expands more rapidly for the sealed launch. In addition, the amplitude of pressure oscillation for the sealed launch is larger than that of the submerged launch, but the pressure oscillation of the sealed launch lasts shorter.

Collaborative unmanned systems have emerged to meet our society’s wide-ranging grand challenges,with their advantages including high performance,efficiency,flexibility,and inherent resilience.Increasing levels of group/team autonomy have also been achieved due to the embodiment of artificial intelligence(AI).However,the current networked unmanned systems are primarily designed for and applicable to a narrow range of domain-specific missions,and do not have sufficient human-level intel-ligence and human needs fulfillment for the challenging missions in our lives.We propose in this paper a vision of human-centric networked unmanned systems:Unmanned Intelligent Cluster(UnIC).Within this vision,distributed unmanned systems and humans are connected via knowledge sharing and social awareness to achieve collaborative cognition.This paper details UnIC’s concept,sources of intelligence,and layered architecture,and reviews enabling technologies for achieving this vision.In addition to the technological aspects,the social acceptance issues are highlighted.

The crowd sensing technology can realize the sensing and computing of people,machines,and environment in smart industrial IoT-based coal mine,which provides a solution for safety monitoring through distributed intelligence optimization.However,due to the difficulty of neural network training to achieve global optimality and the fact that traditional LSTM methods do not consider the relationship between adjacent machines,the accuracy of human body position prediction and pressure value prediction is not high.To solve these problems,this paper proposes a smart industrial IoT empowered crowd sensing for safety monitoring in coal mine.First,we propose a Particle Swarm Optimization-Elman Neural Network(PE)algorithm for the mobile human position prediction.Second,we propose an ADI-LSTM neural network prediction algorithm for pressure values of machines supports in underground mines.Among them,our proposed PE algorithm has the lowest average cumulative prediction error,and the trajectory fit rate is improved by 24.1%,13.9%and 8.7%compared with Kalman filtering,Elman and Kalman plus Elman algorithms,respectively.Meanwhile,compared with single-input ARIMA,RNN,LSTM,and GRU,the RMSE values of our proposed ADI-LSTM are reduced by 36.6%,52%,32%,and 13.7%,respectively;and the MAPE values are reduced by 0.0003%,0.9482%,1.1844%,and 0.3620%,respectively.
