Impacts of oceanographic factors on interannual variability of the winter-spring cohort of neon flying squid abundance in the Northwest Pacific Ocean

The neon flying squid Ommastrephes bartramii is an economically important species in the Northwest Pacific Ocean. The life cycle of O. bartramii is highly susceptible to climatic and oceanic factors. In this study, we have examined the impacts of climate variability and local biophysical environments on the interannual variability of the abundance of the western winter-spring cohort of O. bartramii over the period of 1995–2011. The results showed that the squid had experienced alternant positive and negative Pacific Decadal Oscillation（PDO） over the past 17 years during which five El Ni？o and eight La Ni？a events occurred. The catch per unit effort（CPUE） was positively correlated with the PDO index（PDOI） at a one-year time lag. An abnormally warm temperature during the La Ni？a years over the positive PDO phase provided favorable oceanographic conditions for the habitats of ***, whereas a lower temperature on the fishing ground during the El Ni？o years over the negative PDO phase generally corresponded to a low CPUE. The same correlation was also found between CPUE and Chl a concentration anomaly. A possible explanation was proposed that the CPUE was likely related to the climateinduced variability of the large-scale circulation in the Northwest Pacific Ocean： high squid abundance often occurred in a year with a significant northward meander of the Kuroshio Current. The Kuroshio Current advected the warmer and food-rich waters into the fishing ground, and multiple meso-scale eddies arising from current instability enhanced the food retention on the fishing ground, all of which were favorable for the life stage development of the western squid stocks. Our results help better understand the potential process that the climatic and oceanographic factors affect the abundance of the winter-spring cohort of O. bartramii in the Northwest Pacific Ocean.

Subspace decomposition-based correlation matrix multiplication

The correlation matrix, which is widely used in eigenvalue decomposition （EVD） or singular value decomposition （SVD）, usually can be denoted by R = E[yiy＇i]. A novel method for constructing the correlation matrix R is proposed. The proposed algorithm can improve the resolving power of the signal eigenvalues and overcomes the shortcomings of the traditional subspace methods, which cannot be applied to low SNR. Then the proposed method is applied to the direct sequence spread spectrum （DSSS） signal＇s signature sequence estimation. The performance of the proposed algorithm is analyzed, and some illustrative simulation results are presented.

Synchronous Variations in Abundance and Distribution of Ommastrephes bartramii and Dosidicus gigas in the Pacific Ocean

An analysis was performed in this study to investigate synchronous fluctuations in abundance and distribution of Om-mastrephes bartramii in the Northwest Pacific Ocean and Dosidicus gigas in the Southeast Pacific *** impacts of two Niño indices and regional water surface temperature on the two squids during 2006-2015 were evaluated,which possibly can explain the observed *** per unit effort(CPUE)and the latitudinal gravity centers(LATG)of fishing effort were used to indi-cate squid abundance and distribution,*** results indicated that both the CPUE and LATG showed highly interannual variations and synchronous fluctuation with significant negative associations between the two squid species from September to *** positive cross-correlations with 2-month lag was found between sea surface temperature(SST)anomaly in the Niño 3.4 and Niño 1+2 regions,which have significant linkage with the SST on the fishing ground of *** and ***,***,the proportion of favorable-SST area(PFSST)and the latitudinal location of the optimal SST for *** and *** were positively correlated with the CPUE and LATG,*** *** PFSST clearly corresponded to decreased *** PFSST in phase as well as the latitudinal location of the optimal SST from September to November over *** findings suggest that synchronous changes in abundance and distribution of the two squids were due to simultaneous variations in the PFSST and the latitudinal location of the optimal SST front which were affected by the SSTA changes in the Niño 3.4 and Niño 1+2 regions.

In the determination of the Earth gravity field in satellite geodesy, the inclination functions represent the projection of data observed along the orbital plane of a satellite orbit into the sphere in the terrestial reference frame. The inclination functions in this work is studied from a group theoretical perspective. The inclination functions are proved to generate a representation of the SO(3) group. An orthogonal relation of the inclination functions is derived and some recurrence relations for the inclination functions are given, based on which an algorithm to calculate the inclination functions is proposed.

The energy barrier at the CH3NH3Pb Br3/TiO2interface hinders the electron transfer from CH3NH3Pb Br3to compact TiO2（cp-TiO2）.Ionic liquid（IL）,that forms dipoles pointing away from TiO2,can adjust the work function of TiO2resulting in suitable energy level for charge transfer from CH3NH3Pb Br3to *** time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy（TRPL）measurements confirm faster electron transfer from the CH3NH3Pb Br3film to TiO2after modification by *** cells based on IL modified cp-TiO2demonstrate efficiency of～6%,much higher than the devices（0.2%）fabricated using untreated cp-TiO2as the electron transport layer.

A systematic analysis of intrinsic regulators for HIV-1 R5 to X4 phenotypic switch

Background： Human immunodeficiency virus isolates most often use chemokine receptor CCR5 or CXCR4 as a coreceptor to enter target cells. During early stages of HIV-1 infection, CCR5-tropic viruses are the predominant species. The CXCR4-tropic viruses may emerge late in infection. Recognition of factors influencing this phenotypic switch may give some hints on the antiviral strategies like anti-H1V/AIDS drugs, gene therapy and vaccines. Methods： To investigate the mechanism that triggers R5 to X4 phenotypic switch, we performed a systematic sensitivity analysis based on a five-dimensional model with time-varying parameters. We studied the sensitivity of each factor to the CCR5-to-CXCR4 tropism switch and acquired some interesting outcomes beyond expectation. Results： The death rate of free virus （dv）, rate that uninfected CD4＋ T cells arise from precursors （s） and proliferate as stimulated by antigens （r）, and in vivo viral burst size （N） are four robust factors which are constantly observed to have a strong correlation with the evolution of viral phenotype for most patients longitudinally. Conclusions： Crucial factors, which are essential to phenotypie switch and disease progression, are almost the same for different patients at different time points, including the production of both virus and CD4＋ T cells and the decay of virion. It is also worth mentioning that although the sequence of factors sorted by the influence varies between patients, the trends of influences engendered by most factors as disease progresses are similar inter-patients.

Enhancement of Photo-Thermal Conversion Performance of the Nanofluids Through Spectral Complementarity between Silver and Cesium Tungstate Oxide Nanoparticles

Nanofluids with full-spectrum absorption properties are highly desirable for direct solar thermal energy conversion *** this work,Ag and CsW03 nanofluids,which exhibit absorption both in the visible and near-infrared(NIR)region,are integrated to obtain two>component hybrid *** hybrid nanofluids show broad band absorption with a solar weighted absorption fraction of 99.6%,compared to 18%and 54%for the base liquid(ethylene glycol)and CsW03 nanofluids,*** highest photo-thermal conversion performance for the hybrid nanofluids is obtained with Ag/CsW03 weight ratio of 3/*** solar thermal conversion efficiency of the optimum hybrid nanofluids is 67%,10%and 15%higher than single Ag and CsW03 *** two-component hybrid nanofluid provides an alternative for making the best use of solar energy.

Vertical orientation graphene/MXene hybrid phase change materials with anisotropic properties,high enthalpy,and photothermal conversion

Latent heat storage of phase change materials(PCMs)is expected to be a suitable method to enhance the absorption and conversion of solar energy because of their high heat storage density and excellent chemical ***,pure organic PCMs are limited by their low thermal conductivity,photothermal conversion,and thermal energy storage efficiency in practical ***,vertically oriented network composite PCMs are synthesized using reduced graphene oxide/MXene hybrid aerogels(r GO/MXene)as carrier materials and encapsulating stearic acid(SA)as the *** of the vertically aligned MXene and r GO hybridized backbones,the thermal conductivity of the composite reaches 1.21 W/(m K),which increases 317.24%,compared to *** melting enthalpy of composites reaches 168.25 J/g,which almost retains the melting enthalpy of pure *** addition of r GO and MXene significantly improves the photothermal conversion capability of composite PCMs(≤90.19%).Irradiating the oriented and non-oriented surfaces of the composite sample,it is found that the temperature rise is faster in the orientation direction than in the non-oriented direction,and the equilibrium temperature of the orientation direction is 4.8°C higher than that of the non-orientation *** new material has a high potential for use in solar energy storage applications because of its excellent performance.
