The cell wall in wood is mainly composed of three components: cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. According to electron microscopy observations of the innermost surface of cell walls in the tracheids of Cryptomeria japonica , cellulose microfibrils are deposited during the day and a matrix containing hemicellulose is deposited at night. This indicates that the deposition of cell wall components exhibits diurnal periodicity. To gain new insights into the diurnal periodicity of lignin deposition not revealed by microscopic observations, we examined diurnal fluctuations in the expression of genes involved in monolignol biosynthesis in C. japonica saplings grown in the field and in growth chambers under a 12 h light/dark cycle. In the field experiment, two gene expression peaks were observed daily, at dusk and dawn. In the growth chamber experiment, two daily peaks were observed 0 h and 6 - 9 h after the light switched on.

Acute pancreatitis is one of the most common diseases in gastrointestinal,liver and pancreatic diseases,with about 300,000 annual admissions in the United States(1).Acute pancreatitis is complicated by pancreatic necrosis in 20%,and the mortality rate is 20%to 30%once infection occurs in pancreatic necrosis(2).Severe acute pancreatitis(SAP)was purely a surgical disease in 19th century due to its poor prognosis(3),but the importance of multidisciplinary approach is increasingly recognized as shown in the recent publication of French guidelines(4)by the collaboration of multisociety of surgery,gastroenterology,digestive endoscopy,interventional radiology,intensive care and nutrition.

Many traffic accidents occur in parking *** of the serious safety risks is vehicle-pedestrian ***,with the increasing development of automatic driving and parking technology,parking safety has received significant attention from vehicle safety ***,pedestrian protection in parking lots still faces many *** example,the physical structure of a parking lot may be complex,and dead corners would occur when the vehicle density is *** lead to pedestrians’sudden appearance in the vehicle’s path from an unexpected position,resulting in collision accidents in the parking *** advocate that besides vehicular sensing data,high-precision digital map of the parking lot,pedestrians’smart device’s sensing data,and attribute information of pedestrians can be used to detect the position of pedestrians in the parking ***,this subject has not been studied and explored in existing *** this void,this paper proposes a pedestrian tracking framework integrating multiple information sources to provide pedestrian position and status information for vehicles and protect pedestrians in parking *** also evaluate the proposed method through real-world *** experimental results show that the proposed framework has its advantage in pedestrian attribute information extraction and positioning *** can also be used for pedestrian tracking in parking spaces.

AIM:To evaluate the usefulness of a balloon overtube to assist colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)using a ***:The results of 45 consecutive patients who underwent colorectal ESD were analyzed in a single tertiary endoscopy *** preoperative evaluation of access to the lesion,difficulties were experienced in the positioning and stabilization of a gastroscope in 15 patients who were thus assigned to the balloonguided ESD group.A balloon overtube was placed with a gastroscope to provide an endoscopic channel to the lesion in cases with preoperatively identified difficulties related to *** ESD was performed following standard procedures.A submucosal fluid bleb was created with hyaluronic acid solution.A circumferential mucosal incision was made to marginate the *** isolated lesion was finally excised from the deeper layers with repetitive electrosurgical dissections with needle *** success of colorectal ESD,procedural feasibility,and procedure-related complications were the main outcomes and ***:The overall en bloc excision rate of colorectal ESD during this study at our institution was 95.6%.En bloc excision of the lesion was successfully achieved in 13 of the 15 patients(86.7%)in the balloon overtube-guided colorectal ESD group,which was comparable to the results of the standard ESD group with better accessibility to the lesion(30/30,100%,not statistically significant).CONCLUSION:Use of a balloon overtube can improve access to the lesion and facilitate scope manipulation for colorectal ESD.

AIM： To determine the efficacy of external beam radiotherapy （EBRT）, with or without intraluminal brachytherapy （ILBT）, in patients with non-resected locally advanced hilar cholangiocarcinoma.METHODS： We analyzed 64 patients with locally advanced hilar cholangiocarcinoma, including 25 who underwent resection （17 curative and 8 non-curative）, 28 treated with radiotherapy, and 11 who received best supportive care （BSC）. The radiotherapy group received EBRT （50 Gy, 30 fractions）, with 11 receiving an ad- ditional 24 Gy （4 fractions） ILBT by iridium-192 with remote after loading. ILBT was performed using percu-taneous transhepatic biliary drainage （PTBD） route. Uncovered metallic stents （UMS） were inserted into nonresected patients with obstructive jaundice, with the exception of four patients who received percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage only. UMS were placed endoscopically or percutaneously, depending on the initial drainage procedure. The primary endpoints were patient death or stent occlusion. Survival time of patients in the radiotherapy group was compared with that of patients in the resection and BSC groups. Stent patency was compared in the radiotherapy and BSC groups.RESULTS： No statistically significant differences in patient characteristics were found among the resection, radiotherapy, and BSC groups. Three patients in the radiotherapy group and one in the BSC group did not receive UMS insertion but received PTBD alone; cholangitis occurred after endoscopic stenting, and patients were treated with PTBD. A total of 16 patients were administered additional systemic chemotherapy （5-fluorouracil-based regimen in 9, S-1 in 6, and gemcitabine in 1）. Overall survival varied significantly among groups, with median survival times of 48.7 mo in the surgery group, 22.1 mo in the radiotherapy group, and 5.7 mo in the BSC group. Patients who underwent curative resection survived significantly longer than those who were not candidates for surgery （P = 0.0076）

Temperature response functions have been developed to investigate sensor design and divertor heat flux estimation in magnetically confined plasmas. The time-dependent heat flux can be derived by fitting the response function to experimental thermocouple(TC) data. Because the TC signals have a time delay to transit events such as discharge start or confinement transition, the time delay is taken into account in a temperature response function. Such a function accurately describes the signal from each TC channel with time delay in a sensor test using a neutral beam injection. Measurement for commercial TCs shows that the time delay is caused by the finite heat capacity of TC wire and contact heat resistance between TC and target surface.

We report a rare case of a small-bowel lymphangioma causing massive gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding that we successfully diagnosed and treated using double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE). An 81-year-old woman suffering from repeated GI bleeding of unknown origin underwent a capsule endoscopy at a previous hospital. She was suspected of having bleeding from the jejunum, and was referred to our department for diagnosis and treatment. An oral DBE revealed a 20 mm × 10 mm, regularly surfaced, white to yellowish, elongated, pedunculated jejunal polyp with small erosions at 10 cm distal to the ligament of Treiz. Since no other source of bleeding was identified by endoscopy in the deep jejunum, anendoscopic polypectomy (EP) was performed for this lesion. A subsequent histopathological examination of the resected polyp showed clusters of lymphatic vessels with marked cystic dilatation in the submucosa and the deep layer of the lamina propria mucosae. These characteristics are consistent with the typical features of small-bowel lymphangioma with erosions. Although clip-ping hemostasis was performed during EP, re-bleeding occurred. Finally, a complete hemostasis was achieved by performing an additional argon plasma coagulation.

In endoscopic placement of multiple plastic biliary stents (PBSs),we sometimes experience proximal dislocation of the first PBS at the time of subsequent PBS *** describe the case of a 79-year-old male with obstructive jaundice caused by cholangiocarcinoma who needed to receive multiple PBS placements for management of *** proximal dislocation of the first PBS was observed,we prevented the dislocation via our technique of using guidewire inserted from the distal end of the first PBS to the side hole as the *** could complete this technique only by inserting guidewire through the side hole of the first PBS during the process of releasing the first PBS and pulling out the guidewire and the inner *** did not matter whether the anchor-wire went towards the third portion of the duodenum or the duodenal *** we introduce this "anchor-wire technique",which is useful for the prevention of PBS proximal dislocation in placing multiple PBSs.
