Opinions and Perceptions of Gynecologists and Midwives on the Use of the Intrauterine Device in Senegal

Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the opinions of gynecologists, midwives, and interns/Specialist students practicing in Senegal about the use of IUD, and to assess factors that stand as obstacles to IUD prescribing. Patients and methods: An online questionnaire was developed to assess providers’ IUD practices and attitudes. The questionnaire was based on the one used in a Swiss study on the same topic. The platform used was Google forms. The questionnaire was shared in associative platforms involving gynecologists, midwives and interns/Specialist students. Results and comments: We received 292 feedbacks. Gynecologists represented 13.7% of the sample, interns and specialist students 11.3% and midwives 76%. Parity is a determining factor in IUD selection. The care-providers were concerned about the followings, which might have prevented the use of IUD, even though it was indicated: infections (75.7%), pelvic pain (61.3%), expulsion (48.3%), increased risk of perforation (46.9%), women’s appreciation (45.2%), ectopic pregnancy (33.9%) and sexual behavior (28.4%). OBJECTIVES: 1) To draw up the epidemiological profile of patients who have benefited from cervical cancer screening by visual inspection after application of acetic acid (VIA) and then describe the results of the test, the colposcopy, histological and therapeutic aspects in case of dysplasia. 2) To evaluate the performance of IVA in cervical cancer screening and its feasibility in low-resource countries. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was a prospective and descriptive study carried out from 06 June 2015 to 31 January 2016 (7 months) at the Maternity Center at Nabil Choucair health center in Dakar. The patients had been screened for cervical cancer by visual inspection, which consisted of applying 3% acetic acid after setting up a vaginal speculum. The test was considered positive if there were intense white areas in the cervix. Colposcopy was performed in case of a positive VIA result. This colposcopy included an unprepared examination, an examination after application of 3% acetic acid and an examination after application of Lugol solution. The colposcopic report is made according to the terminology of the French Society of Colposcopy and Cervico-Vaginal Pathology. Patients with major changes or unsatisfactory colposcopy had undergone diathermic loop resection. Surgical specimens were sent to pathologic anatomy and follow-up was performed according to the results of the histology. The studied parameters concerned the socio-demographic aspects, the results of the VIA test, the results of the colposcopy after a positive test, the therapeutic aspects in case atypical transformation zone grade 2 or of unsatisfactory colposcopy, the results of the histology after the conization and the followed. The collection of data was done thanks to a file and the statistical analysis thanks to the software Epi-info version 7. RESULTS: 899 patients were involved in the study. A nanocomposite material of SnO2-reduced graphene oxide nanoribbons has been developed. In this composite, the reduced graphene oxide nanoribbons are uniformly coated by nanosized SnO2 that formed a thin layer of SnO2 on the surface. When used as anodes in lithium ion batteries, the composite shows outstanding electrochemical performance with the high reversible discharge capacity of 1,027 mAh/g at 0.1 A/g after 165 cycles and 640 mAh/g at 3.0 A/g after 160 cycles with current rates varying from 0.1 to 3.0 A/g and no capacity decay after 600 cycles compared to the second cycle at a current density of 1.0 A/g. The high reversible capacity, good rate performance and excellent cycling stability of the composite are due to the synergistic combination of electrically conductive reduced graphene oxide nanoribbons and SnO2, The method developed here is practical for the large-scale development of anode materials for lithium ion batteries.

Background:The 13‐MD is a new generic instrument developed to measure general health‐related quality of life(GHRQoL).This instrument considers all aspects of health(i.e.,physical,mental,and social)in a balanced way.A previous study led to minor changes in the original version of the 13‐*** objective of this study was to confirm the validity of the modified 13‐***:Validity was assessed with recent data from the general population of Quebec,*** meta‐dimensions and items composing the 13‐MD were also subjected to a ranking procedure,which allowed to determine the most important aspects for ***:A total of 1337 French‐speaking participants were recruited with 1099 completing the 13‐MD for validation purposes and 1084 completing the ranking *** 13‐MD showed very satisfactory results and confirmed to be a valid *** ranking of the meta‐dimensions revealed that“Well‐being”received the most points,followed by“Sleep and energy”and“Body functioning.”Conclusion:These results will be very useful in the continuous improvement of the 13‐MD,ultimately leading to the valuation stage(i.e.,development of a value set).

Quality of life at work is an important and widely discussed concept in the *** instruments can be used to measure it,but with regard to healthcare and social services,the existing instruments are not well known.A review of available instruments intending to capture the quality of life of healthcare and social services workers(QoLHSSW)is necessary to better assess their working conditions and promote programs/guidelines to improve these *** aim of this study was to identify the existing instruments used in measuring QoLHSSW and explore their *** attention was given to instruments adapted to the province of Quebec,Canada,which enabled the determination of which instruments are adapted for the measurement of QoLHSSW in Quebec and possibly elsewhere.A systematic review of the literature was conducted according to the JBI methodological *** articles'selection procedure was performed according to the PRISMA *** search was conducted up to October 28,2021,and then updated on January 25,2023,in four databases:PsycINFO,Medline,Embase,and *** selection and extraction were performed independently by two *** analysis of the quality of the studies was performed with the COnsensus‐based Standards for the selection of health Measurement *** a total of 8178 entries,13 articles corresponding to 13 instruments were *** these instruments,the common aspects that were considered were work conditions,job satisfaction,stress at work,relationship/balance,and career *** instruments used a 5‐point Likert *** validation methods were used,including reporting Cronbach's alpha for overall scale reliability;factor analysis to test construct validity;different model fit indices to test model superiority;different language comparisons to test cross‐cultural validity;and qualitative expert reviews to assess content validity.

The Weibull distribution is a probability density function (PDF) which is widely used in the study of meteorological data. The statistical analysis of the wind speed v by using the Weibull distribution leads to the estimate of the mean wind speed , the variance of v around and the mean power density in the wind. The gamma function Γ is involved in those calculations, particularly Γ (1+1/k), Γ (1+2/k) and Γ (1+3/k). The paper reports the use of the Weibull PDF f(v) to estimate the gamma function. The study was performed by looking for the wind speeds related to the maximum values of f(v), v2 f(v) and v3 f(v). As a result, some approximate relationships were obtained for Γ (1+1/k), Γ (1+2/k) and Γ (1+3/k), that use some fitting polynomial functions. Very good agreements were found between the exact and the estimated values of Γ (1+n/k) that can be used for the estimation of the mean wind speed , the variance σ2 of the wind speed v;around the mean speed and the average wind power density.

Several studies on PV solar cells are found in the literature which use static models. Those models are mainly one-diode, two-diode or three-diode models. In the dynamic modelling, a variable parallel capacitance is incorporated. Unlike the previous studies which do not clearly establish a relationship between the capacitance and the voltage, in the present paper, the link between the capacitance and the voltage is investigated and established. In dynamic modelling investigated in this paper, the dynamic resistance is introduced in the modelling of the solar cell. It is introduced in the current-voltage characteristic. The value of the dynamic resistance is evaluated at the maximum power point and its effect on the maximum power is investigated. The study shows for the first time, that the dynamic resistance must be introduced in the current-voltage characteristic, because it has an influence on the PV cell output.

The strong hydrogen bonding ability of 2-pyridones were exploited to build nanotrains on *** wheels on axles difunctionalized with 2-pyridone hydrogen bonding units were synthesized and displayed spontaneous formation of linear nanotrains by self-assembly on SiO_(2)or mica *** using atomic force microscopy confi rmed linear formations with lengths up to 5μm and heights within the range of the molecular height of the carborance-tipped axles.
