Real-world and bottom-up methodology for emission inventory development and scenario design in medium-sized cities

Efficient management of air quality requires a comprehensive emission inventory to support decision-making on air quality *** article presents a comprehensive framework for detailed emission inventory development in cities with low-quality basic data,which examines the emission of primary criteria pollutants(CO,NO_(x),SO_(2),PM_(2.5),PM_(10),and VOC)from mobile sources,residential,commercial,and public services,fuel stations,transport terminals,energy conversion sections,and *** research was applied to Tabriz in Northwest Iran,one of the polluted medium-sized cities with a population of 1.77 *** show the city daily emission per capita is 569.8 g of CO,68.6 g of NO_(x),38.6 g of VOC,17.6 g of SO_(x),and 3.7 g of *** emissions accounted for 98%of CO,91%of VOCs,61%of NO_(x),and 56%of PM;meaning alternative policy strategies in vehicles would reduce emissions *** applicable and effective scenarios in transport and one concerning stationary sourceswere proposed and reduction potential of themwas *** of the public transport improvement and replacement of old passenger cars were founded the key *** two alternatives decrease 14 and 2 tons of SO_(2) and 6797 and 2394 tons of NO_(x) annually with the cost of$99.5 MM and$366.5 MM,*** findings of this study provides the choice of travel method by each citizen is a function of cost,speed,comfort and safety of travel;therefore,all the requirements of any scenarios must be fully considered in the implementation step.

A Galvanostatic Modeling for Preparation of Electrodeposited Nanocrystalline Coatings by Control of Current Density

The correlation between the grain size of electrodeposited coatings and the current densities was modeled by considering galvanostatic conditions. In order to test the model by experimental results, nanocrystalline （NC） nickel samples were deposited at different current densities using a Watts bath. The grain size of the deposits was evaluated by X-ray diffraction （XRD） technique. Model predictions were validated by finding a curve being the best-fit to the experimental results which were gathered from literature for different NC coatings in addition to those data measured in this research for NC nickel coatings. According to our model, the variation of grain size with the reciprocal of the current density follows a power law. A good agreement between the experimental results and model predictions was observed which indicated that the derived analytical model is applicable for producting the nanocrystalline electrodeposits with the desired grain size by controling current density.

Mass transfer investigation and operational sensitivity analysis of aminebased industrial CO_2 capture plant

In this article, the industrial process of CO_2 capture using monoethanolamine as an aqueous solvent was probed carefully from the mass transfer viewpoint. The simulation of this process was done using Rate-Base model, based on two-film theory. The results were validated against real plant data. Compared to the operational unit, the error of calculating absorption percentage and CO_2 loading was estimated around 2%. The liquid temperature profiles calculated by the model agree well with the real temperature along the absorption tower, emphasizing the accuracy of this model. Operational sensitivity analysis of absorption tower was also done with the aim of determining sensitive parameters for the optimized design of absorption tower and optimized operational conditions. Hence,the sensitivity analysis was done for the flow rate of gas, the flow rate of solvent, flue gas temperature, inlet solvent temperature, CO_2 concentration in the flue gas, loading of inlet solvent, and MEA concentration in the solvent. CO_2 absorption percentage, the profile of loading, liquid temperature profile and finally profile of CO_2 mole fraction in gas phase along the absorption tower were studied. To elaborate mass transfer phenomena, enhancement factor, interfacial area, molar flux and liquid hold up were probed. The results show that regarding the CO_2 absorption, the most important parameter was the gas flow rate. Comparing liquid temperature profiles showed that the most important parameter affecting the temperature of the rich solvent was MEA concentration.

Photoactive area modification in bulk heterojunction organic solar cells using optimization of electrochemically synthesized ZnO nanorods

In this work, ZnO nanorod arrays grown by an electrochemical deposition method are investigated. The crucial parameters of length, diameter, and density of the nanorods are optimized over the synthesize process and nanorods growth time. Crystalline structure, morphologies, and optical properties of ZnO nanorod arrays are studied by different techniques such as x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, atomic force microscope, and UV-visible transmission spectra. The ZnO nanorod arrays are employed in an inverted bulk heterojunction organic solar cell of Poly （3-hexylthiophene）：[6- 6] Phenyl-（6） butyric acid methyl ester to introduce more surface contact between the electron transporter layer and the active layer. Our results show that the deposition time is a very important factor to achieve the aligned and uniform ZnO nanorods with suitable surface density which is required for effective infiltration of active area into the ZnO nanorod spacing and make a maximum interfacial surface contact for electron collection, as overgrowing causes nanorods to be too dense and thick and results in high resistance and lower visible light transmittance. By optimizing the thickness of the active layer on top of ZnO nanorods, an improved efficiency of 3.17% with a high FF beyond 60% was achieved.

Synthesis of boron nitride nanorod and its performance as a metalfree catalyst for oxidative desulfurization of diesel fuel

In order to reduce the sulfur compounds in diesel fuel,boron nitride(BN)has been used as a novel metal-free catalyst in the present *** nanocatalyst was synthesized via template-free approach followed by heating treatment at 900℃ in nitrogen atmosphere that the characteristics of the sample were identified by the X-ray diffraction,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,Raman spectroscopy,field emission scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy,atomic force microscopy,and N2 adsorption-desorption *** results of structural and morphological analysis represented that BN has been successfully *** efficacy of the main operating parameters on the process was studied by using response surface methodology based on the Box-Behnken design *** prepared catalyst showed high efficiency in oxidative desulfurization of diesel fuel with initial sulfur content of 8040 mg·kg^(-1)*** statistical analysis,a significant quadratic model was obtained to predict the sulfur removal as a function of efficient *** maximum efficiency of 72.4%was achieved under optimized conditions at oxidant/sulfur molar ratio of 10.2,temperature of 71℃,reaction time of 113 min,and catalyst dosage of 0.36 ***,the reusability of the BN was studied,and the result showed little reduction in activity of the catalyst after 10 times ***,a plausible mechanism was proposed for oxidation of sulfur compounds on the surface of the *** present study shows that BN materials can be selected as promising metal-free catalysts for desulfurization process.

Effect of Electroplating Parameters on Microstructure of Nanocrystalline Nickel Coatings

In order to achieve the optimum conditions for electroplating nanocrystalline nickel coating from Watts-type bath, the effect of some process parameters namely, bath temperature, current density, and saccharin addition on grain size and texture coefficient （TC= I（200）/I（111）） of the deposits were investigated by X-ray diffraction （XRD）. The results showed that in a bath containing 5 g/L saccharin, by increasing the bath temperature from 45℃ to 55℃, the grain size decreased, whereas further increase of bath temperature resulted in a contrary effect. By increasing the current density from 10 to 75 mA/cm^2, both the grain size and TC decreased, while further increase in current density had no significant effect on the grain size. At a given current density, the grain size and TC decreased rapidly by increasing the saccharin content before leveling off at 3 g/L of saccharin. Finally, based on the grain refining the optimum conditions for producing nanocrystalline nickel coating from Watts-type bath have been proposed.

Analytical approximation of heat and mass transfer in MHD non-Newtonian nanofluid flow over a stretching sheet with convective surface boundary conditions

The paper provides an analytical investigation, homotopy analysis method （HAM）, of the heat and mass transfer for magnetohydrodynamic Oldroyd-B nanofluid flow over a stretching sheet in the presence of convective boundary condition. The PDE governing equations, which consist of equations of continuity, momentum, energy and nanoparti- cles, are converted to ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations. The current HAM solution demonstrates very good correlation with those of the pre- viously published studies in the special cases. The influences of different flow physical parameters such as the Deborah numbers in terms of relaxation and retardation times （/3i, /32）, magnetic parameter （M）, Prandtl number （Pr）, Brownian motion parameter （Nb）, thermophoresis parameter （Nt）, Lewis number （Le）, and Biot number （Bi） on he fluid velocity component （f＇（η））, temperature distribution （θ（η）） and concentration φ（η）） as well as the local Nusselt number （Nux/Rex ） and the local Sherwood number （Shx/Re1/2 ） are discussed in detail.

The effect of ZIF-90 particle in Pebax/Psf composite membrane on the transport properties of CO2,CH4 and N2 gases by Molecular Dynamics Simulation method

Nowadays,mixed matrix membranes(MMMs)have considered by many researchers to overcome the problems of polymeric *** addition,molecular dynamics(MD)and Monte Carlo(MC)simulation Methods are suitable tools for studying transport properties and morphology in *** this purpose,in this study using material studio 2017(MS)software,the transport properties of CO2,CH4 and N2 in Pebax,Psf neat Pebax/Psf composite and Pebax/Psf composite filled with ZIF-90 particles have been *** adding Psf to Pebax matrix,the selectivity of CO2/CH4 and CO2/N2 gases has significantly *** addition,adding ZIF-90 particles to the Pebax/Psf composite increased the permeability of CO2,CH4 and N2 compared to neat and composite *** morphological properties of the membranes,such as the fractional free volume(FFV),radial distribution function(RDF),glass transition temperature(TG),X-ray diffraction(XRD)and equilibrium density have calculated and acceptable results have obtained.

Evaluation of behaviors of earth and rockfill dams during construction and initial impounding using instrumentation data and numerical modeling

In this study,the behavior of Gavoshan dam was evaluated during construction and the first impounding.A two-dimensional（2D） numerical analysis was conducted based on a finite difference method on the largest cross-section of the dam using the results of instrument measurements and back *** evaluations will be completed in the case that back analysis is carried out in order to control the degree of the accuracy and the level of confidence of the measured behavior since each of the measurements could be controlled by comparing it to the result obtained from the numerical *** that,by comparing the results of the numerical analysis with the measured values,it is indicated that there is a proper consistency between these two ***,it was observed that the dam performance was suitable regarding the induced pore water pressure,the pore water pressure ratio r;,settlement,induced stresses,arching degree,and hydraulic fracturing probability during the construction and initial impounding *** results demonstrated that the maximum settlement of the core was 238 cm at the end of *** the following 6 years after construction（initial impounding and exploitation period）,the accumulative settlement of the dam was 270 *** is clear that 88% of the total settlement of the dam took place during dam *** reason is that the clay core was smashed in the wet side,*** optimum moisture *** the average curving ratio was 0.64 during dam construction; at the end of the initial impounding,the maximum amount of curving ratio in the upstream was 0.81,and the minimum（critical） amount in the downstream was *** was also concluded that this dam is safe in comparison with the behaviors of other similar dams in the world.
