This paper presents results from ground penetrating radar surveys using the SIR-10 B GPR instrument（manufactured by Geophysical Survey System Inc., USA）, with 400 MHz monostatic antenna（model 5 103）. Survey was made over 3 excavation levels along the highway section at the Ras en Naqab escarpment area, Southwest Jordan. A total of 217 m along 4 profiles were covered in the winter of 2012. The objectives of the study are（i） to evaluate the resolution of the GPR technique in the field for detecting and locating anomalies caused by subsurface structures like cavities, fractures and faults, and（ii） to describe stratigraphic nomenclature of the subsurface rocks of the area. 2D interpretation of the obtained data and the geological information demonstrate a strong correlation between the GPR anomalies and the subsurface geology. Based upon the lateral and vertical velocity changes with depth, the thickness and orientation of the subsurface layers are outlined. Analysis of the exposed section shows good agreement between the estimated thicknesses of lithostratigraphic units and the quantitative assessment of the radar waves velocity inferred from GPR data.

Hearing impairment affects over two-thirds of adults with diabetes. We investigated whether rat models of type 1 and type 11 diabetes display impaired auditory function. Tympanometry measurements were conducted in Sprague-Dawley rats (control, n = 20), streptozotocin-induced type I diabetic Sprague-Dawley rats (n = 20) at 42 - 56 days old;Zucker rats (Hos: ZFDM-Lean (fa/+, n = 20) and Zucker Type 2 Diabetic rats (ZFDM (Hos: ZFDM-fa/fa);n = 20)), 90 days old. All rats were male. Control animals had normal type A tympanograms. Tweny one (75%) of the tympanic membranes in the diabetic type I group produced abnormal tympanograms: 46% were type B, 28% had no peak found, and 1% were type C. The ear canal measurements were lower in the left ear in type I mice (0.19 ± 0.07) and higher in the left ear for type II mice (0.23 ± 0.15 ml) compared to the controls of 0.39 ± 0.14 ml) and (0.2 ± 0.12 ml) respectively (P < 0.0001). The compliances for the right ear and left ear were lower for the type II diabetic group (0.18 ± 0.05 ml) and (0.18 ± 0.05 ml) compared to the control group (0.28 ± 0.19 ml) and (0.28 ± 0.49 ml) (P < 0.0001) respectively. In conclusion, control rats exhibited type A tympanograms with a highly functional middle ear system. Diabetic type I rats (n = 20) mostly exhibited type B tympanograms with a less compliant middle ear system. Compliance was reduced in the diabetic type I and II animals compared to the control. Future studies should utilise histological methods alongside tympanometry. Sections of the middle ear could be used to analyze ossicle size and confirm size differences. This information would be useful in avenues for treatment options for hearing loss in diabetes.

The line graph for the complement of the zero divisor graph for the ring of Gaussian integers modulo n is studied. The diameter, the radius and degree of each vertex are determined. Complete characterization of Hamiltonian, Eulerian, planer, regular, locally and locally connected is given. The chromatic number when is a power of a prime is computed. Occupational therapy (OT) education requires educators to provide students with entry level skills in orthotic fabrication. These skills have been taught in a traditional face-to-face classroom and labs. The concept of distance education (DE) has evolved over the years with the advancement of the technology. DE started with print media, radio broadcasting, and progressed to utilizing video conferencing. Currently DE relies heavily on using the internet to deliver quality, cost-effective and convenient education. DE Literature focused on teaching basic knowledge, however, no research was found that compared DE to traditional education in teaching skills or the application of knowledge. This pilot study investigated the effectiveness of using DE pedagogy in teaching OT students the skills of splint making, and to compare effectiveness of DE to that of traditional classroom. Forty OT students participated in the study, they self-selected to be in the experimental, or control group. The experimental group received training on splint making via the Blackboard?, while the control group received similar training the traditional way. The quality of splints was evaluated;Mann-Whitney concluded that the difference between the means of the two groups was no significant, indicating that the quality of the splints were equivalent.

为探究泡沫沥青温拌技术对沥青混合料性能及沥青路面设计厚度的影响,通过力学-经验路面设计指南(MEPDG)软件对温拌发泡沥青混合料(WMA Foam)路面和热拌沥青混合料(HMA)路面在相同设计条件下的车辙、疲劳开裂以及国际平整度指标(IRI)等进行预测比较,并根据MEPDG路面设计方法分别得出了温拌发泡沥青混合料和热拌沥青混合料在相同情况下的路面设计厚度。结果表明:采用石灰岩碎石作集料时,WMA Foam与HMA表现出相近的性能。而对以天然砾石为集料的PG 64-22原样沥青混合料,发泡沥青温拌技术的采用使得混合料的车辙深度和国际平整度指数(IRI)相比HMA混合料有显著增加。此外,采用天然砾石和PG 64-22原样沥青的温拌发泡沥青路面设计厚度远大于对应热拌沥青路面的设计厚度。

In this paper, experimental investigations are presented to assess the performance variations in a single cylinder spark ignited engine when run with three different gasoline-alcohol blends: (88% gasoline-12% methanol, 88% gasoline-12% ethanol and 88% gasoline-6% methanol-6% ethanol). Additional tests are carried out with the basic gasoline fuel for comparison analysis and performance assessment. Engine performance is investigated under a variety of engine operating conditions. The results are presented in the domain of engine speed. In particular, the brake power of the engine is shown to be slightly increased. The brake thermal efficiency showed an increase compared with the basic gasoline engine. Similarly, it is shown that brake specific fuel consumption is enhanced compared with basic gasoline engine. The exhaust gas temperature showed a decrease compared with gasoline fuel which is preferable to reduce emissions. The alcohol additives are strongly recommended to enhance performance, increasing the mileage and reducing the emissions.
