Laser-induced colouration of V2O5

Preparation and applications of calcium ferrite as a functional material:A review

Vanadium oxide is one of the most important optoelectronic materials that are used in optical switching devices, gas and humidity sensor, and secondary Li batteries. It has been recognized that VO can be coloured through electro-, photo-, and thermochromism processes. We report here that the surface of VO (annealed at 580℃for 4 h) pellets turned to a deep blue colour upon just one pulse ablation of the XeCl excimer laser (λ= 308 nm, pulse duration = 36 ns. output energy = 100 mJ/pulse). Also we found that when a yellow pentoxide vanadium pellet was exposed to proper excimer laser irradiation, its surface electrical conductivity changed remarkably, that is from an insulator to a semiconductor. The pentoxide vanadium sample, before and after excimer laser irradiation, was analysed with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectral (UV-VIS), x-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectrum (RS) and x-ray photoelectronic spectrum (XPS). The presence of a peak at about 830 cm in the Raman spectrum indicates that the sample after laser irradiation is sub-stoichiometric with an oxygen deficiency. XPS showed the partial reduction of VO and the appearance of conduction band electrons. SEM showed that the surface of VO became smooth and less porous after excimer laser irradiation. From our experimental results, it was concluded that the laser-induced colouration is attributed to thermochromism.

A reduction in adult neurogenesis is associated with behavioral abnormalities in patients with Alzheimer's ***,enhancing adult neurogenesis represents a promising therapeutic approach for mitigating disease symptoms and ***,nonpharmacological interventions aimed at inducing adult neurogenesis are currently *** individual non-pharmacological interventions,such as aerobic exercise,acousto-optic stimulation,and olfactory stimulation,have shown limited capacity to improve neurogenesis and cognitive function in patients with Alzheimer's disease,the therapeutic effect of a strategy that combines these interventions has not been fully *** this study,we observed an age-dependent decrease in adult neurogenesis and a concurrent increase in amyloid-beta accumulation in the hippocampus of amyloid precursor protein/presenilin 1 mice aged 2-8 *** deposition became evident at 4 months,while neurogenesis declined by 6 months,further deteriorating as the disease ***,following a 4-week multifactor stimulation protocol,which encompassed treadmill running(46 min/d,10 m/min,6 days per week),40 Hz acousto-optic stimulation(1 hour/day,6 days/week),and olfactory stimulation(1 hour/day,6 days/week),we found a significant increase in the number of newborn cells(5'-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine-positive cells),immature neurons(doublecortin-positive cells),newborn immature neurons(5'-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine-positive/doublecortin-positive cells),and newborn astrocytes(5'-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine-positive/glial fibrillary acidic protein-positive cells).Additionally,the amyloid-beta load in the hippocampus *** findings suggest that multifactor stimulation can enhance adult hippocampal neurogenesis and mitigate amyloid-beta neuropathology in amyloid precursor protein/presenilin 1 ***,cognitive abilities were improved,and depressive symptoms were alleviated in amyloid precursor protein/presenilin 1 mice

This paper proposes a fault tolerant strategy for a closed-loop anesthesia system. To the authors best knowledge, it is the first time that the concept of fault tolerance applied to intravenous anesthesia. Internal model control （IMC） is used to construct the basic closed-loop system, and bispectral index （BIS） is selected as a measurement of patients depth of anesthesia （DoA） as well as a feedback signal. In this study, a sensor fault, BIS artifact, is considered. An extended state observer （ESO） and a switching strategy are selected for fault detection and control reconfiguration. All of the above mentioned works are established on a closed-loop aesthesia simulation platform. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can deal with the considered kind of fault effectively.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries （AZIBs） are fundamentally challenged by the instability of the electrode/electrolyte interface,predominantly due to irreversible zinc （Zn） deposition and hydrogen ***,the intricate mechanisms behind the electrochemical discrepancies induced by interfacial Zn2+-solvation and deposition behavior demand comprehensive *** molecules endowed with special functional groups （such as hydroxyl,carboxyl,etc.） have the potential to significantly optimize the solvation structure of Zn2+and regulate the interfacial electric double layer （EDL）.By increasing nucleation overpotential and decreasing interfacial free energy,these functional groups facilitate a lower critical nucleation radius,thereby forming an asymptotic nucleation model to promote uniform Zn ***,this study presents a pioneering approach by introducing trace amounts of n-butanol as solvation regulators to engineer the homogenized Zn （H-Zn） anode with a uniform and dense *** interfacial reaction and structure evolution are explored by in/ex-situ experimental techniques,indicating that the H-Zn anode exhibits dendrite-free growth,no by-products,and weak hydrogen evolution,in sharp contrast to the bare ***,the H-Zn anode achieves a remarkable Zn utilization rate of approximately 20% and simultaneously sustains a prolonged cycle life exceeding 500 ***,the H-Zn//NH4V4O10（NVO） full battery showcases exceptional cycle stability,retaining 95.04%capacity retention after 400 cycles at a large current density of 5 A *** study enlightens solvation-regulated additives to develop Zn anode with superior utilization efficiency and extended operational lifespan.

Double carbohelicenes have attracted considerable attention due to their aesthetic structures, distinct π-conjugation extension, inherent chirality, and intriguing optical and electronic properties. Herein, the concise de novo synthesis of a new double[5]carbohelicene 1 together with its chiroptical properties, isomerization process and lasing application is presented. 1 was synthesized by a simple protocol involving the formation of a 6,6′-bipentacene as the key intermediate. It is worth noting that1 existed as two diastereomers 1-PP/MM and 1-PM, which were successfully isolated and unambiguously confirmed by Xray crystallography. The optical resolution of the racemic 1-PP/MM was successfully achieved by chiral-phase highperformance liquid chromatography（HPLC）, and 1-PP and 1-MM were characterized by circular dichroism. Interestingly, it was found that 1-PP/MM could be completely isomerized to 1-PM upon heating, and the detailed thermodynamics and kinetics of the isomerization process were systematically investigated. 1-PM exhibited deep-red luminescence with emission maximum at 723 nm and fluorescence quantum yield as high as 32.95%. Consequently, we can showcase the lasing application of 1-PM by doping with epoxy resin to assemble a bottle microlaser spontaneously, which the lasing wavelength is 796.6 nm at a threshold of 0.8 m J cm-2. We believe that our studies, including the facile synthesis methodology, detailed isomerization studies, and lasing application, will shed some light on the design and synthesis of novel carbohelical systems with more functions.
