This paper presents a travel-aid system for sight-impaired pedestrians in outdoor environment.Unlike many existing travel-aid systems that rely on stereo-vision,the proposed system aims to detect generic obstacles in a cluttered road environment by using just the single camera attached to user's body.To achieve this goal,the original image is re-sampled and mapped to a bird-eye view virtual plane,on which background edges are sub-sampled while obstacle edges are oversampled.Morphology filters with connected component analysis are used to enhance obstacle edges as edge-blobs with larger size,whereas sparse edges from background are filtered out.Based on the identified obstacles,safe walking areas are estimated by calculating a polar edge histogram.The algorithm is tested in different sidewalk scenes with complex pavements,and its efficiency has been confirmed.

In order to reduce redundant empty bin capacity in the probability representation,we present a new color feature arrangement mechanism for mean shift tracking objects.In the proposed mechanism,the important optimal color,or we call it optimal color vector,is clustered by closing Euclidean distance which happens inside the original RGB color 3-D spatial domain.After obtaining clustering colors from the reference image RGB spatial domain,novel clustering groups substitute for original color data.So the new color substitution distribution is as similar as the original one.And then target region in the candidate frame is mapped by the constructed optimal clustering colors and the cluster Indices.In the final,mean shift algorithm gives a performance in the new optimal color distribution.Comparison under the same circumstance between the proposed algorithm and conventional mean shift algorithm shows that the former has a certain advantage in computation cost.

Active appearance model(AAM)is an efficient method for the localization of facial feature points,which is also useful for the subsequent work such as face detection and facial expression recognition.In this paper,we mainly discuss the AAMs based on principal component analysis(PCA).We also propose an efficient facial fitting algorithm,which is named inverse compositional image alignment(ICIA),to eliminate a considerable amount of computation resulting from traditional gradient descent fitting algorithm.Finally,3D facial curvature is used to initialize the location of facial feature,which helps select the parameters of initial state for the improved AAM.

This paper proposes the efficient model building in active appearance model(AAM) for the rotated face.Finding an exact region of the face is generally difficult due to different shapes and viewpoints.Unlike many papers about the fitting method of AAM,this paper treats how images are chosen for fitting of the rotated face in modelling process.To solve this problem,databases of facial rotation and expression are selected and models are built using Procrustes method and principal component analysis(PCA).These models are applied in fitting methods like basic AAM fitting,inverse compositional alignment(ICA),project-out ICA,normalization ICA,robust normalization inverse compositional algorithm(RNIC)and efficient robust normalization algorithm(ERN).RNIC and ERN can fit the rotated face in images efficiently.The efficiency of model building is checked using sequence images made by ourselves.

This paper presents an obstacle detection approach for blind pedestrians by fusing data from camera and laser sensor.For purely vision-based blind guidance system,it is difficult to discriminate low-level obstacles with cluttered road surface,while for purely laser-based system,it usually requires to scan the forward environment,which turns out to be very inconvenient.To overcome these inherent problems when using camera and laser sensor independently,a sensor-fusion model is proposed to associate range data from laser domain with edges from image domain.Based on this fusion model,obstacle's position,size and shape can be estimated.The proposed method is tested in several indoor scenes,and its efficiency is confirmed.

The widespread adoption of lithium-ion batteries has been driven by the proliferation of portable electronic devices and electric vehicles,which have increasingly stringent energy density requirements.Lithium metal batteries(LMBs),with their ultralow reduction potential and high theoretical capacity,are widely regarded as the most promising technical pathway for achieving high energy density batteries.In this review,we provide a comprehensive overview of fundamental issues related to high reactivity and migrated interfaces in LMBs.Furthermore,we propose improved strategies involving interface engineering,3D current collector design,electrolyte optimization,separator modification,application of alloyed anodes,and external field regulation to address these challenges.The utilization of solid-state electrolytes can significantly enhance the safety of LMBs and represents the only viable approach for advancing them.This review also encompasses the variation in fundamental issues and design strategies for the transition from liquid to solid electrolytes.Particularly noteworthy is that the introduction of SSEs will exacerbate differences in electrochemical and mechanical properties at the interface,leading to increased interface inhomogeneity—a critical factor contributing to failure in all-solidstate lithium metal batteries.Based on recent research works,this perspective highlights the current status of research on developing high-performance LMBs.

Based on the stoichiometric method and the free energy minimization method,an ideal model for the reduction of iron oxides by carbon and hydrogen under blast furnace conditions was established,and the reduction efficiency and theoretical energy consumption of the all-carbon blast furnace and the hydrogen-rich blast furnace were compared.The results show that after the reduction reaction is completed at the bottom of the blast furnace,the gas produced by reduction at 1600℃still has a certain excessive reduction capacity,which is due to the hydrogen brought in by the hydrogen-rich blast as well as the excess carbon monoxide generated by the reaction of the coke and the oxygen brought in by the blast.During the process of the gas with excessive reduction capacity rising from the bottom of the blast furnace and gas reduction process,the excessive reduction capacity of the gas gradually decreases with the increase in the dydrogen content in the blast.In the all-carbon blast furnace,the excess gas reduction capacity is the strongest,and the total energy consumption per ton of iron reduction is the lowest.This shows that,for the current operation mode of the blast furnace,adding hydrogen in the blast furnace cannot reduce the consumption of carbon required for reduction per ton of iron,but rather increases the consumption of carbon.

Autoimmune diseases(AID)encompass a diverse array of conditions characterized by immune system dysregulation,resulting in aberrant responses of B cells and T cells against the body’s own healthy tissues.Plant extracellular vesicles(PEVs)are nanoscale particles enclosed by phospholipid bilayers,secreted by plant cells,which facilitate intercellular communication by transporting various bioactive molecules.Due to their nanoscale structure,safety,abundant sources,low immunogenicity,high yield,biocompatibility,and effective targeting of the colon and liver,PEVs are regarded as a promising platform for the treatment of AID.This review provides a comprehensive summary of PEV biogenesis,physicochemical and biological properties,internalization mechanisms,isolation methods,and their applications in various diseases,with a specific focus on their potential roles in AID.Additionally,we propose engineering approaches and administration methods for PEVs.Finally,we present an overview of the advantages and challenges associated with utilizing PEVs for the treatment of AID.By gaining a comprehensive understanding of PEVs,we anticipate the development of innovative therapeutic strategies for AID.Natural and engineered PEVs hold substantial promise as a valuable resource for innovative technologies in AID treatment.
