OBJECTIVE:The interleukin(IL)-12 cytokine family is closely related to the development of T helper cells,which are responsible for autoimmune disease enhancement or ***-12 family members are generally heterodimers and share threeα-subunits(p35,p19,and p28)and twoβ-subunits(p40 and EBI3).However,aβ-sheet p40 homodimer has been shown to exist and antagonize IL-12 and IL-23 signaling ***,we assumed the existence of a p40-EBI3 heterodimer in nature and sought to investigate its role in immune ***:The presence of the p40-EBI3 heterodimer was confirmed by ELISA,immunoprecipitation,and western blotting.A p40-EBI3 vector and p40-EBI3-Fc protein were synthesized to confirm the immunological role of this protein in mice with collageninduced arthritis(CIA).The anti-inflammatory effects of p40-EBI3 were analyzed with regard to clinical,histological,and immune cell-regulating features in mice with ***:Clinical arthritis scores and the expression levels of proinflammatory cytokines(e.g.,IL-17,IL-1β,IL-6,and TNF-α)were significantly attenuated in p40-EBI3-overexpressing and p40-EBI3-Fc-treated mice with CIA compared to vehicle-treated mice with *** joint damage and vessel formation-related gene expression were also reduced by p40-EBI3 heterodimer *** vitro,the p40-EBI3-Fc protein significantly suppressed the differentiation of Th17 cells and reciprocally induced CD4+CD25+Foxp3+(regulatory T)cells.p40-EBI3 also inhibited osteoclast formation in a concentrationdependent ***:In this study,p40-EBI3 ameliorated proinflammatory conditions both in vivo and in *** propose that p40-EBI3 is a novel anti-inflammatory cytokine involved in suppressing the immune response through the expansion of Treg cells and suppression of Th17 cells and osteoclastogenesis.

BACKGROUND The cellular prion protein(PrPC),traditionally associated with neurodegenerative disorders,plays an important role in cancer progression and metastasis by inhibiting *** To investigate the influence of PrPC expression in cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)on patient outcomes following surgical *** Patients who underwent curative surgical resection for either intrahepatic or hilar CCA were enrolled in this retrospective *** on the immunohistochemical staining results of the surgical specimens,patients were categorized into two groups:The low PrPC group(negative or 1+)and the high PrPC group(2+or 3+).Survival analyses,including overall survival and recurrence-free survival,were conducted using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared using the log-rank *** In total,seventy-six patients diagnosed with CCA(39 with intrahepatic and 37 with hilar CCA)underwent curative hepatectomy from January 2011 to November *** these patients,38(50%)demonstrated high PrPC expression,whereas the remaining 38(50%)showed low expression of *** a median follow-up period of 31.2 months(range:1 to 137 months),the high PrPC group had a significantly shorter median overall survival than the low PrPC group(40.4 months vs 137.9 months,respectively;P=0.041).Moreover,the high PrPC group had a significantly shorter median recurrence-free survival than the low PrPC group(13.3 months vs 23.8 months,respectively;P=0.026).CONCLUSION PrPC expression is significantly associated with early recurrence and decreased survival period in CCA patients following surgical ***,PrPC may be used as a prognostic factor in treatment planning.

Wide speed range for traction motor in braking force of electric braking control system

A vehicle stopping method using an electric brake until a traction motor is stopped is studied. At the moment of vehicle stop, electric brake is changed to control mode where torque is reduced at a low speed. Gradient is controlled by estimating the load torque of motor, thereby traction motor is not rotated after stop. In addition, coasting operation and brake test are performed from normal-opposite operation and start using a small-scale model comprising the inertial load equipment and the power converter. Further, traction motor is made to be equipped with a suspension torque. Pure electric braking that makes traction motor stop by an air brake at the time of stop is also implemented. Constant torque range and constant power range are expanded during braking so that braking force is secured with the electric brakes even in high speed region. Therefore, vehicle reduction effect can be expected by reducing parts related with an air brake which is not used frequently by using a pure electric brake in the M car in wide speed region. Further, maintenance of brake system can be reduced. Besides, ride comfort of passenger in the electric rail car, energy efficiency improvement, and noise reduction effect can be additionally expected. Further, an improved brake method that uses only an electric brake till motor stop is proposed by comparing those in the blending brake that uses an air brake while reducing brake torque at vehicle stop.

Diagnostic accuracy of administrative database for bile duct cancer by ICD-10 code in a tertiary institute in Korea

Background:Administrative database provides valuable information for large cohort studies,especially when tissue diagnosis is rather difficult such as the diagnosis for bile duct cancer(BDC).The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of administrative database for BDC by International Classification of Diseases(ICD)-10 codes in a tertiary ***:BDC and control groups were collected from 2003 to 2016 at Seoul National University Bundang *** of BDC were identified in the National Health Insurance Service(NHIS)database by ICD 10-code supported by V *** control group was selected from cases without ICD-10 codes for BDC.A definite or possible diagnosis was defined according to pathologic *** records,images,and pathology reports were analyzed to evaluate ICD-10 codes for ***,specificity,positive predictive value,and negative predictive value for BDC were analyzed according to diagnostic criteria and cancer ***:A total of 1707 patients with BDC and 1707 controls were *** those with BDC,1320(77.3%)were diagnosed by definite ***(99.4%)of them had *** of definite diagnosis was the highest for ampulla of Vater(88.9%),followed by that for extrahepatic(84.9%)and intrahepatic(68.3%)*** positive cases commonly had hepatocellular *** overall diagnosis of BDC,sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,and negative predictive value were 99.94%,98.33%,98.30%,and 99.94%,*** accuracies were similar regardless of diagnostic criteria or tumor ***:Administrative database for BDC collected according to ICD-10 code with V code shows good accuracy.

Effect of Doubling the Ensemble Size on the Performance of Ensemble Prediction in the Warm Season Using MOGREPS Implemented at the KMA

Using the Met Office Global and Regional Ensemble Prediction System （MOGREPS） implemented at the Korea Meteorological Administration （KMA）, the effect of doubling the ensemble size on the performance of ensemble prediction in the warm season was evaluated. Because a finite ensemble size causes sampling error in the full forecast probability distribution function （PDF）, ensemble size is closely related to the efficiency of the ensemble prediction system. Prediction capability according to doubling the ensemble size was evaluated by increasing the number of ensembles from 24 to 48 in MOGREPS implemented at the KMA. The initial analysis perturbations generated by the Ensemble Transform Kalman Filter （ETKF） were integrated for 10 days from 22 May to 23 June 2009. Several statistical verification scores were used to measure the accuracy, reliability, and resolution of ensemble probabilistic forecasts for 24 and 48 ensemble member forecasts. Even though the results were not significant, the accuracy of ensemble prediction improved slightly as ensemble size increased, especially for longer forecast times in the Northern Hemisphere. While increasing the number of ensemble members resulted in a slight improvement in resolution as forecast time increased, inconsistent results were obtained for the scores assessing the reliability of ensemble prediction. The overall performance of ensemble prediction in terms of accuracy, resolution, and reliability increased slightly with ensemble size, especially for longer forecast times.

Cutting force signal pattern recognition using hybrid neural network in end milling

Under certain cutting conditions in end milling, the signs of cutting forces change from positive to negative during a revolution of the tool. The change of force direction causes the cutting dynamics to be unstable which results in chatter vibration. Therefore, cutting force signal monitoring and classification are needed to determine the optimal cutting conditions and to improve the efficiency of cut. Artificial neural networks are powerful tools for solving highly complex and nonlinear problems. It can be divided into supervised and unsupervised learning machines based on the availability of a teacher. Hybrid neural network was introduced with both of functions of multilayer perceptron (MLP) trained with the back-propagation algorithm for monitoring and detecting abnormal state, and self organizing feature map (SOFM) for treating huge datum such as image processing and pattern recognition, for predicting and classifying cutting force signal patterns simultaneously. The validity of the results is verified with cutting experiments and simulation tests.

The diluted atropine for inhibition of myopia progression in Korean children

AIM：To evaluate the efficacy and safety of three different concentrations of diluted atropine for the control of myopia in Korean children,and to assess the risk factors associated with rapid myopia ***：A total of 285 children,with refractive errors within the range of-6 diopters（D）between 5 and 14 years of age were *** using 0.01%,or 0.025%,or 0.05% atropine,for about 1y,changes in refraction,axial lengths and frequency of adverse events were *** regression analyses were performed to evaluate the risk factors associated with rapid myopia ***：The changes in the mean spherical equivalent values were -0.134 D/mo in the before atropine group,-0.070 D/mo in the 0.01% atropine group,-0.047 D/mo in the 0.025% atropine group,and -0.019 D/mo in the 0.05% atropine group,with significant differences between the groups（P〈0.001）.The axial elongation was 0.046 mm/mo,0.037 mm/mo,0.025 mm/mo,and 0.019 mm/mo respectively,with significant differences between the groups（P=0.003）.The incidence of photophobia and near vision difficulty was not different among the three atropine groups（P=0.425and P=0.356,respectively）.Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that only highly myopic parents were a significant predictive factor of rapid myopia progression in Korean children（odds ratio,8.155;95% confidence interval,3.626-18.342;P〈0.001）.CONCLUSION：Treatment with 0.01%,0.025% and 0.05% atropine solution inhibits myopia progression in Korean children in a dose-dependent *** with highly myopic parents preferentially shows a rapid myopia progression rate.

This paper reports the pH-induced structural changes in the surface immobilized poly（L-lysine）（PLL）***-dimensional（2D） correlation analysis was applied to the Fourier transform infrared（FTIR）spectra of the surface-immobilized PLL film to examine the spectral changes induced by the alternations of the protonation state of the amino group in the side *** spectral changes in the FTIR spectra of the PLL film were observed between pH 7 and *** decrease in the protonation state of the amino group in the side chain induced spectral changes in the amino group as well as conformational changes in the alky]group in the side *** pH 1-8,the spectral changes in the amino and alkyl groups in the side chain occurred before those of the amide group in the main chain of the surface immobilized PLL film.

This study has focused on developing numerical procedures for the dynamic nonlinear analysis of cable structures subjected to wave forces and ground motions in the ocean. A geometrically nonlinear finite element procedure using the isoparametric curved cable element based on the Lagrangian formulation is briefly summarized. A simple and accurate method to determine the initial equilibrium state of cable systems associated with self-weights, buoyancy and the motion of end points is presented using the load incremental method combined with penalty method. Also the Newmark method is used for dynamic nonlinear analysis of ocean cables. Numerical examples are presented to validate the present numerical method.
