We investigate whether foreign institutional investors facilitate firm-specific information flow in the global market. Specifically, using annual institutional ownership data from firms across 40 countries, we find that foreign institutional ownership is negatively associated with excess stock return comovement. Our results are more pronounced when foreign institutional investors originate from common-law countries and hold a large equity stake in invested firms; and when the invested firms are located in civil-law countries. Overall, the evidence suggests that foreign institutional investors from countries with strong investor protection play an important informational role in mitigating excess stock return comovement around the world.

Hepatitis C virus(HCV)is a global health concern associated with significant morbidity and *** the approval of second-generation direct-acting antiviral agents(DAAs),interferon therapy and liver transplantation constituted the mainstay of *** introduction of well-tolerated oral DAAs in late 2013 has revolutionized HCV management with over 95%cure *** predominance of HCV-related liver transplantations has declined following the widespread approval of *** the unparallel efficacy observed among these novel therapies,pharmaceutical costs continue to limit equitable access to healthcare and likely contribute to the differential HCV infection rates observed *** reduce the burden of disease worldwide,essential agenda items for all countries must include the prioritization of integrated care models and access to DAAs *** transparent negotiations with the pharmaceutical industry,the consideration for compassionate release of medications to promote equitable division of care is *** we provide a literature review of HCV,changes in epidemiologic trends,access issues for current therapies,and global inequities in disease burden.

AIM: To evaluate whether individuals with gastric cancer(GC) are diagnosed earlier if they have firstdegree relatives with ***: A total of 4282 patients diagnosed with GC at National Cancer Center Hospital from 2002 to 2012 were enrolled in this retrospective study. We classified the patients according to presence or absence of first-degree family history of GC and compared age at diagnosis and clinicopathologic characteristics. In addition, we further classified patients according to specific family member with GC(father, mother, sibling, or offspring) and compared age at GC diagnosis among these patient groups. Baseline characteristics were obtained from a prospectively collected database. Information about the family member's age at GC diagnosis was obtained by ***: A total of 924 patients(21.6%) had a firstdegree family history of GC. The mean age at GC diagnosis in patients having paternal history of GC was 54.4 ± 10.4 years and was significantly younger than in those without a first-degree family history(58.1 ± 12.0 years, P < 0.001). However, this finding was not observed in patients who had an affected mother(57.2 ± 10.0 years) or sibling(62.2 ± 9.8 years). Among patients with family member having early-onset GC(< 50 years old), mean age at diagnosis was 47.7 ± 10.3 years for those with an affected father, 48.6 ± 10.4 years for those with an affected mother, and 57.4 ± 11.5 years for those with an affected sibling. Thus, patients with a parent diagnosed before 50 years of age developed GC 10.4 or 9.5 years earlier than individuals without a family history of GC(both P <0.001).CONCLUSION: Early-onset GC before age of 50 was associated with parental history of early-onset of GC. Individual having such family history need to start screening earlier.

Chronic hepatitis B virus(CHB)infection affects approximately 250 million persons worldwide(1).CHB is a major risk factor for liver failure,cirrhosis,and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),accounting for 45-55%of HCC cases(1).The incidence rates of HCC among CHB patients are 0.02-0.2 per 100 person-years in inactive carriers,0.3-0.6 per 100 person-years in those without cirrhosis,and 2.2-3.7 per 100 person-years for those with compensated cirrhosis(2).

Many proteins are regulated by post-translational modifications,such as the reversible covalent attachment of ubiquitin and ubiquitin-like proteins in eukaryotes(Kerscher et al, 2006). Post-translational modification of proteins by the SUMO protein family is involved in diverse cellular processes, including development, hormonal responses, and biotic and abiotic stress signaling(Park et al, 2011). SUMO modification can modulate protein-protein interactions, intracellular localization or the activities of the protein(Gareau and Lima, 2010).

Allergic asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the lung and the airway,which is characterized by aberrant type 2 immune responses to otherwise unharmful *** the central role of Th2 cells and type 2 cytokines in the pathogenesis of allergic asthma is well documented,the regulation and plasticity of Th2 cells remain incompletely *** using an animal model of allergic asthma in IL-4-reporter mice,we found that Th2 cells in the lung expressed higher levels of Rora than those in the lymph nodes,and that treatment with an RORa agonist SRI 078 resulted in diminished Th2 cell responses in *** determine the T cell-intrinsic role of RORa in allergic asthma in vivo,we established T cell-specific RORa-deficient^(f/f)fyf(Cd4creRora^(f/f))*** intranasal allergen challenges,Cd4creRora^(f/f)mice exhibited a significantly increased Th2 cells in the lungs and the airway and showed an enhanced eosinophilic inflammation compared to littermate control *** with Foxp3^(YFP-cre)Rora^(f/f)mice and CD^(8+)T cell depletion showed that the increased Th2 cell responses in the Cd4creRora^(f/f)mice were independent of Treg cells and CD^(8+)T *** findings demonstrate a critical regulatory role of RORa in Th2 cells,which suggest that RORa agonists could be effective for the treatment of allergic diseases.

This paper presents a flight control design for an unmanned aerial vehicle （UAV） using a nonlinear autoregressive moving average （NARMA-L2） neural network based feedback linearization and output redefinition technique. The UAV investigated is non- minimum phase. The output redefinition technique is used in such a way that the resulting system to be inverted is a minimum phase system. The NARMA-L2 neural network is trained off-line for forward dynamics of the UAV model with redefined output and is then inverted to force the real output to approximately track a command input. Simulation results show that the proposed approaches have good performance.
