Regional anesthesia in a patient with primary ciliary dyskinesia:A case report

BACKGROUND Primary ciliary dyskinesia(PCD)is an inherited autosomal-recessive disorder of impaired mucociliary clearance characterized by chronic respiratory diseases,otolaryngological diseases,central nervous system abnormalities,reproductive system abnormalities,and cardiac function *** anesthesia in these patients is associated with a higher incidence of respiratory complications than in patients without the *** SUMMARY A 16-year-old male patient was referred to the emergency room complaining of right ankle pain due to distal tibiofibular *** years prior,he had been diagnosed with *** that time,he had experienced several episodes of pneumonia,sinusitis,and chronic middle ear infections,for which he underwent surgical *** the current admission,he presented with cough and sputum but no other respiratory symptoms.A chest computed tomography scan revealed centrilobular ground-glass opacities in both lower lobes and a calcified nodule in the left lower *** the surgical procedure and postoperative pain management,combined spinal-epidural anesthesia was *** patient’s postoperative pain score was measured by the numerical rating scale(NRS).On the day of surgery,his NRS was 5 *** the second postoperative day,the NRS score had decreased to 2–3 *** epidural catheter was removed on the fourth day following the *** patient was subsequently discharged no respiratory *** We performed combined spinal-epidural anesthesia in a patient with *** patient experienced no additional respiratory complications and was discharged with a low NRS score for pain.

The increasing demand for short charging time on electric vehicles has motivated realization of fast chargeable lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).However,shortening the charging time of LIBs is limited by Li^(+)intercalation process consisting of liquid-phase diffusion,de-solvation,SEI crossing,and solid-phase ***,we propose a new strategy to accelerate the de-solvation step through a control of interaction between polymeric binder and solvent-Li^(+)*** this purpose,three alkali metal ions(Li^(+),Na^(+),and K^(+))substituted carboxymethyl cellulose(Li-,Na-,and K-CMC)are prepared to examine the effects of metal ions on their *** lowest activation energy of de-solvation and the highest chemical diffusion coefficient were observed for ***,Li-CMC cell with a capacity of 3 mAh cm^(-2)could be charged to>95%in 10 min,while a value above>85%was observed after 150 ***,the presented approach holds great promise for the realization of fast charging.

Clinical significance of surgical resection for hepatocellular carcinoma with portal vein invasion:a nationwide cohort study

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)with portal vein invasion(PVI)is considered an advanced stage with a poor *** current guidelines recommend systemic treatment for HCC with PVI,surgical resection could produce acceptable outcomes in selected *** study aimed to identify the clinical significance of surgical resection for HCC with PVI patients using a large-scale nationwide ***:This retrospective,multicenter,observational cohort analyzed data from the Korean Primary Liver Cancer Registry.A total of 16,781 patients who were newly diagnosed with HCC between 2008 and 2018 were enrolled in this *** with worse Child-Turcotte-Pugh scores(≥7)or performance status(≥2)were *** them,998 patients who received treatment for HCC with PVI were included in the analysis and were divided into two groups:resection group of 151(15.1%)and palliative group of 847(84.9%)who received transarterial and systemic therapy according to the treatment *** matching the number and size of the tumors and model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score between the groups,the final study cohort for analysis comprised 151(26.6%)patients in the resection group and 417(73.4%)in the palliative *** primary endpoints were overall survival(OS)and cancer-specific survival(CSS).Results:The number and maximum size of HCC did not differ between the resection and palliative groups after matching[1(range,1-5)vs.1(range,1-6),P=0.11 and 5.5(range,1.2-20.6)vs.6.0(range,1.0-20.5)cm,P=0.24,respectively].Tumor markers,including alpha-fetoprotein(AFP)and protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist-II(PIVKA-II),also did not differ between the groups(P=0.29 and P=0.36,respectively).The 5-year OS and CSS rates of the resection and palliative groups were 44.8%and 17.4%(P<0.001)and 47.7%and 18.6%(P<0.001),*** analysis showed that palliative treatment intent was the most significant risk factor for OS and CSS[odds ratio(OR
