This study was performed to characterize 35 L. monocytogenes isolates from animals, foods, environmental samples collected between 1997 and 2007 with no apparent epidemiological relations, and five reference isolates using serotypic, genotypic and molecular typing methods to understand the pattern of strain distribution in Korea. For this study, we used serotyping and detected 6 different virulence-associated genes (inlA, inlB, plcA, plcB, hlyA, and actA) and 16s rRNA using multiplex-PCR. We also compared RAPD and PFGE to determine genetic characterization of L. monocytogenes strains to define the genetic diversity. Serotype patterns of the 30 L. monocytogenes strains was as follows;9 isolates (30.0%) belonged to serotype, 7 isolates (23.3%) belonged to serotype 4b, 4 isolates (13.3%) belonged to serotype 1/2b, 3 isolates (10.0%) belonged to serotype 1/2c, 2 (6.7%) isolates belonged to4c, 2 (6.7%) isolates belonged to NT (Non Type), one isolate (3.2%) belonged to3aand 3b, and4a, respectively. Although, a limited number of isolates were analyzed in this study, molecular typing with RAPD and PFGE indicated that PFGE is more discriminatory for the subtyping L. monocytogenes than RAPD. Some L. monocytogenes isolates by RAPD and PFGE types are associated with specific sources. And, combining data obtained by these methods will increases the likelihood of strain discrimination.

As location data are widely available to portable devices, trajectory tracking of moving objects has become an essential technology for most location-based services. To maintain such streaming data of location updates from mobile clients, conventional approaches such as time-based regular location updating and distance-based location updating have been used. However, these methods suffer from the large amount of data, redundant location updates, and large trajectory estimation errors due to the varying speed of moving objects. In this paper, we propose a simple but efficient online trajectory data reduction method for portable devices. To solve the problems of redundancy and large estimation errors, the proposed algorithm computes trajectory errors and finds a recent location update that should be sent to the server to satisfy the user requirements. We evaluate the proposed algorithm with real GPS trajectory data consisting of 17 201 trajectories. The intensive simulation results prove that the proposed algorithm always meets the given user requirements and exhibits a data reduction ratio of greater than 87% when the acceptable trajectory error is greater than or equal to 10 meters.

The sliding wear behaviors of ZrO2-22 wt pct MgO （MZ） and ZrO2-8 wt pct Y2O3（YZ） coatings deposited on a cast aluminum alloy with bond layer （NiCrCoAlY） by plasma spray were investigated under dry test conditions at room temperature. Under all load conditions, the wear mechanisms of the MZ and YZ coatings were almost the same. The material transfer and pullout were involved in the wear process of the studied coatings under the test conditions. The wear rate of the MZ coating was less than that of the YZ coating. While increasing the normal load, the wear rates of the MZ and YZ coatings increased. SEM was used to examine the worn surfaces and to elucidate likely wear mechanisms. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDX） analysis of the worn surfaces indicated that material transfer occurred in the direction from the SiC ball to the disk. Fracture toughness had a significant influence on the wear performance of the coatings. It was suggested that the material transfer played an important role in the wear behavior.

The aim of this paper is to present an analytical expression for the streamwise velocity distribution in a non-uniform flow in the presence of waves; the correlation between the horizontal and vertical velocity components has been compreheusively examined. Different from previous researches which attributed the deviation of velocity from the classical log-law to the wave Reynolds stress, i.e. - ρ uv^- only, this study demonstrates that the momentum flux caused by mean velocities, i.e., u^- and v^-, is also responsible for the velocity deviation, and it is found that the streamwise velocity for a flow in the presence of non-zero wall-normal velocity does not follow the classical log-law, but the modified log-law proposed in this study based on simplified mixing-length theorem. The validity of the modified log-law has been verified by use of available experimental data from published sources for combined wave-current flows, and good agreement between the predicted and observed velocity profiles has been achieved.

BACKGROUND:Patients with suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in whom myocardial infarction has been ruled out are still at risk of having obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD).This rate is higher among patients with intermediate high-sensitivity troponin I (hsTnI) concentrations (5 ng/L to 99th percentile) than low concentrations (<5 ng/L).Therefore,an intermediate concentration has been suggested as a candidate for downstream investigation with computed tomography coronary angiography(CTCA).We tried to compare the HEART score-guided ***-guided approach for identifying obstructive ***:From a prospective cohort study of patients presenting to the emergency department with suspected ACS,433 patients without elevated hsTnI who also underwent CTCA were selected and *** performances of hsTnI concentration and HEART score were compared using sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value (PPV),and negative predictive value (NPV).RESULTS:Overall,120 (27.7%) patients had obstructive *** with intermediate hsTnI concentrations were more likely to have obstructive CAD than those with low hsTnI concentrations(40.0%vs.18.1%);patients with non-low-risk HEART scores (≥4 points) were also more likely to have obstructive CAD than those with low-risk scores (0 to 3 points)(41.0%vs.7.6%).The HEART score had higher sensitivity and NPV for detecting obstructive CAD in each classification than hsTnI concentration (sensitivity:89.2%vs.63.3%;NPV:92.4%vs.81.9%,respectively).CONCLUSION:After excluding myocardial infarction in patients with suspected ACS,adding the HEART score for selecting candidates for CTCA could improve patient risk stratification more accurately than relying on hsTnI concentration.

Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) of the advanced composite materials is widely used in lightmass structural materials of air planes, ship and automobiles because of high strength and stiffness. In this study, experimental investigation was performed for each specimen. The square section members consist of aluminum, CFRP and hybrid (aluminum/CFRP) member, and hat-shaped section members consist of CFRP and hybrid (aluminum/CFRP) members specimen. Based on the collapse characteristics of aluminum square section member, the collapse characteristics and energy absorption capability of hat-shaped section members were analyzed. The axial static collapse tests were carried out for each section member. The collapse modes and the energy absorption capability of the members were analyzed. In the lightmass design aspect, the collapse characteristics and energy absorption capability of the members were compared.

This paper re-examines Bagnold’s theorem of sediment transport. Different from the stream power defined by Bagnold, i.e., τoV, this study shows that the total load of sediment-laden flow, gt, is related to near bed energy dissipation rate, i.e., τou*’. An attempt is made to explain the empirical relation. The ratio (=k) of measured total load, gt, to the product of near bed velocity, u*’, and energy dissipation rate, τou*’, is analyzed. It is found that k is independent of the Rouse number, Z, if Z is greater than 2.6, but the coefficient k decreases with the increase of Z when Z < 2.6. An empirical relation between k and Z is developed. A systematic and thorough analysis of 1,458 sets of data collected from 16 rivers and canals confirms that the proposed formula can be used to compute the total load with accuracy.
