Long-term outcome of stem cell transplantation with and without anti-tumor necrotic factor therapy in perianal fistula with Crohn’s disease

Short- and long-term outcomes of surgical treatment in patients with intestinal Behcet’s disease

Proportion and clinical features of never-smokers with non-small cell lung cancer

Background: The proportion of never?smokers with non?small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) is increasing, but that in Korea has not been well addressed in a large population. We aimed to evaluate the proportion and clinical features of never?smokers with NSCLC in a large single ***: We analyzed clinical data of 1860 consecutive patients who were newly diagnosed with NSCLC between June 2011 and December ***: Of the 1860 NSCLC patients, 707(38.0%) were never?smokers. The proportions of women(83.7% vs. 5.6%) and adenocarcinoma(89.8% vs. 44.9%) were higher among never?smokers than among ever?smokers. Significantly more never?smokers were diagnosed at a younger median age(65 vs. 68 years, P younger age, female sex, adenocarcinoma histology, better performance status, early stage disease, being asymptomatic at diagnosis, received antitumor treatment, and the presence of driver mutations(hazard ratio, 0.624; 95% confidence interval, 0.460–0.848; P = 0.003).Conclusions: More than one?third of the Korean patients with NSCLC were never?smokers. NSCLC in never?smokers had different clinical characteristics and major driver mutations and resulted in longer overall survival compared with NSCLC in ever?smokers.

Indolocarbazole-Based Small Molecule Cathode-Active Material Exhibiting Double Redox for High-Voltage Li-Organic Batteries

Most organic electrode materials （OEMs） for rechargeable batteries employ n-type redox centers, whose redox potentials are intrinsically limited <3.0 V versus Li+/Li. However, p-type materials possessing high redox potentials experience low specific capacities because they are capable of only a single redox reaction within the stable electrochemical window of typical ***, we report 5,11-diethyl-5,11-dihydroindolo[3,2-b]carbazole （DEICZ） as a novel p-type OEM, exhibiting stable plateaus at high discharge potentials of3.44 and 4.09 V versus Li+/Li. Notably, the second redox potential of DEICZ is within the stable electrochemical window. The mechanism of the double redox reaction is investigated using both theoretical calculations and experimental measurements, including density functional theory calculations, ex situ electron spin resonance, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Finally,hybridization with single-walled carbon nanotubes （SWCNT） improves the cycle stability and rate performance of DEICZ owing to theπ–πinteractions between the SWCNT and co-planar molecular structure of DEICZ, preventing the dissolution of active materials into the electrolyte. The DEICZ/SWCNT composite electrode maintains 70.4%of its initial specific capacity at 1-C rate and also exhibits high-rate capability, even performing well at 100-C rate.

Electrochemically Deposited CZTSSe Thin Films for Monolithic Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells with Efficiencies Over 17%

In spite of the high potential economic feasibility of the tandem solar cells consisting of the halide perovskite and the kesterite Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4(CZTSSe),they have rarely been demonstrated due to the difficulty in implementing solution-processed perovskite top cell on the rough surface of the bottom ***,we firstly demonstrate an efficient monolithic two-terminal perovskite/CZTSSe tandem solar cell by significantly reducing the surface roughness of the electrochemically deposited CZTSSe bottom *** surface roughness(R_(rms))of the CZTSSe thin film could be reduced from 424 to 86 nm by using the potentiostatic mode rather than using the conventional galvanostatic mode,which can be further reduced to 22 nm after the subsequent ion-milling *** perovskite top cell with a bandgap of 1.65 eV could be prepared using a solution process on the flattened CZTSSe bottom cell,resulting in the efficient perovskite/CZTSSe tandem solar *** the current matching between two subcells involving the thickness control of the perovskite layer,the best performing tandem device exhibited a high conversion efficiency of 17.5%without the hysteresis effect.

Driving inward growth of lithium metal in hollow microcapsule hosts by heteroatom‐controlled nucleation

The application of Li metal anodes in rechargeable batteries is impeded by safety issues arising from the severe volume changes and formation of dendritic Li ***‐dimensional hollow carbon is receiving increasing attention as a host material capable of accommodating Li metal inside its cavity;however,uncontrollable and nonuniform deposition of Li remains a *** this study,we synthesize metal–organic framework‐derived carbon microcapsules with heteroatom clusters(Zn and Ag)on the capsule walls and it is demonstrated that Ag‐assisted nucleation of Li metal alters the outward‐to‐inward growth in the microcapsule ***‐incorporated microcapsules are prepared via chemical etching of zeolitic imidazole framework‐8 polyhedra and are subsequently decorated with Ag by a galvanic displacement reaction between Ag^(+)and metallic *** introduced Ag significantly reduces the energy barrier and increases the reaction rate for Li nucleation in the microcapsule host upon Li *** combined electrochemical,microstructural,and computational studies,we verify the beneficial role of Ag‐assisted Li nucleation in facilitating inward growth inside the cavity of the microcapsule host and,in turn,enhancing electrochemical *** study provides new insights into the design of reversible host materials for practical Li metal batteries.

New anti-mesenteric delta-shaped stapled anastomosis: Technical report with short-term postoperative outcomes in patients with Crohn’s disease

BACKGROUND Medical treatment for Crohn’s disease(CD)has continuously improved,which has led to a decrease in surgical recurrence *** these advancements,25%of patients will undergo repeat intestinal *** of CD com-monly occurs on the mesentery side of the anastomosis *** To compare the new anti-mesenteric side-to-side delta-shaped stapled anasto-mosis(DSA)with the conventional stapled functional end-to-end anastomosis(CSA).METHODS This retrospective study included CD patients who underwent ileo-ileal or ileo-colic anastomosis between January 2020 and December *** DSA technique employed a stapler to maintain the concept of anti-mesentery side-to-side ana-stomosis by performing a 90°vertical closure of the open window compared with the CSA *** the corner where the open window is closed,the DSA avoids forming a pouch and creates an anastomosis resembling a delta shape within the intestinal *** compared demographics,preoperative condition,operative findings,and operative outcomes for the two *** The study included 175 patients,including 92 in the DSA group and 83 in the CSA *** two groups were similar in baseline characteristics,preoperative medical treatment,and operative findings except for the Montreal classification *** 30-days postoperative complication rate was signi-ficantly lower in the DSA group compared with the CSA group(16.3%vs 32.5%,P=0.009).Ileus incidence was significantly lower in the DSA group than in the CSA group(4.3%vs 14.5%,P=0.033),and the hospital stay was shorter in the DSA group than in the CSA group(5.67±1.53 days vs 7.39±3.68 days,P=0.001).CONCLUSION The DSA technique was feasible and showed comparable postoperative outcomes with lower short-term complic-ations compared with the CSA *** studies on CD recurrence and long-term complications are warranted.
