Understanding pediatric surgical needs.i. North Korea: a modeling analysis

Background sixty-five percent of children worldwide lack access to surgical care,the majority of whom live in low-income and middle-income countries(LMiCs).Developing surgical infrastructure requires.i.formation on surgical need;however,this.i.formation is often limited in *** Korea(Democratic People's Republic of Korea,DPRK)has a low amount of publicly available ***,we analyzed available modeled data to understand the causes of pediatric deaths due to conditions treatable with surgery in *** We used World Bank data and models from the ins.i.ute for Health Metrics and Evaluation to identify causes of pediatric deaths affecting pediatric patients(ages).We compared mortality of disease between DPRK and countries with similar economic *** Between 1990 and 2019,the number of overall pediatric deaths has *** 2019,32.2%of allpediatric deaths.i. DPRK were caused by surgical *** leading categories of surgical conditions were injuries(53.9%),congenital conditions(34.2%),tumors(8.8%),and abdominal conditions(3.2%).DPRK has a lower relative rate of pediatric deaths compared with other LMiCs with similar gross domes.i. product per ***,it has a higher relative rate of pediatric deaths due to conditions requiring treatment with *** injuries contribute significantly to the high rate of pediatric deaths.i. *** Although DPRK may be allocating overall resources toward pediatric healthcare more efficiently than economic peers,DPRK may benefit from improvement in pediatric surgical *** availability of data and close international collaboration could be potential solutions to bridge this gap.

The functionalities and diverse metastable phases of multiferroic BiFeO3(BFO)thin films depend on the mis.i. *** mixed phase-induced strain relaxation in multiphase BFO thin films.i. well known,it is unclear whether a singlecrystalline BFO thin film can accommodate mis.i. strain without the involvement of its ***,understanding the strain relaxation behavior is key to elucidating the lattice strain–property *** this study,a correlative strain analysis based on dark-field inline electron holography(DiH)and quantitative scanning trans.i.sion electron microscopy(sTEM)was performed to reveal the structural mechanism for strain accommodation of a single-crystalline BFO thin *** nanoscale DiH strain analysis results.i.dicated a random combination of multiple strain states that acted as a primary strain relief,forming irregularly strained *** sTEM-based bond length measurement of the corresponding strained nanodomains revealed a unique strain accommodation behavior achieved by a statis.i.al combination of multiple modes of distorted structures on the unit-cell *** globally integrated strain for each nanodomain was es.i.ated to be close to􀀀1.5%,irrespective of the nanoscale strain states,which was consistent with the fully strained BFO film on the srTiO3 *** functional theory calculations suggested that strain accommodation by the combination of metastable phases was energetically favored compared to single-phase-mediated *** discovery allows a comprehensive understanding of strain accommodation behavior in ferroelectric oxide films,such as BFO,with various low-symmetry polymorphs.

The CUL3A–LFH1–UBC15 ubiquitin ligase complex mediates sHORT VEGETATiVE PHAsE degradation to accelerate flowering at high ambient temperature

Ambient temperature affects flowering time in plants,and the MADs-box transcription factor sHORT VEGETATiVE PHAsE(sVP)plays a crucial role in the response to changes.i. ambient *** protein stability is regulated by the 26s proteasome pathway and decreases at high ambient temperature,but the details of sVP degradation are ***,we show that sVP degradation at high ambient temperature is mediated by the CULLiN3–RiNG E3 ubiquitin ligase(CRL3)complex in Arabidopsis *** identified a previously uncharacterized protein that interacts with sVP at high ambient temperature and contains a BTB/POZ *** named this protein LATE FLOWERiNG AT HiGH TEMPERATURE 1(LFH1).single mutants of LFH1 or CULLiN3A(CUL3A)showed late flowering specifically at 27***1 protein levels.i.creased at high ambient *** found that LFH1 interacts with CUL3A in the cytoplasm and is.i.portant for sVP–CUL3A complex *** in CUL3A and/or LFH1 led to increased sVP protein stability at high ambient temperature,sugges.i.g that the CUL3–LFH1 complex functions.i. sVP *** E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes(UBCs)using RiNG-BOX PROTEiN 1(RBX1),a component of the CRL3 complex,as bait identified ***15 mutants also showed late flowering at high ambient *** vitro and in vivo ubiquitination assays using recombinant CUL3A,LFH1,RBX1,and UBC15 showed that sVP is highly ubiquitinated in an ATP-dependent ***,these results.i.dicate that the degradation of sVP at high ambient temperature is mediated by a CRL3 complex comprising CUL3A,LFH1,and UBC15.

Non-fungible token(NFT)is a digital asset whose owners.i. can be validated and controlled via blockchain *** NFT market is a rapidly growing field,and the rarity of NFT is an essential factor that affects.i.s price,as scarcity leads to higher *** study focuses on the BAYC NFT collection,which is a successful and representative collection of profile picture NFT,and analyzes how rarity affects NFT *** paper inves.i.ates the relations.i. between the rarity and price of the BAYC NFT collection using formal concept analysis(FCA)*** results show that rarity is a major factor influencing the price of NFT and the effect is more apparent in the medium rarity *** rarity is very high or very low,other factors become significant determinants,such as the uniqueness and appeal of NFT,and even the naturalness of NFT *** research highlights the importance of considering rarity when asses.i.g NFT and underscores the need for a comprehensive evaluation of NFT *** study also provides valuable insights.i.to the NFT market and can be useful for NFT investors,creators,and ***,the usefulness of FCA as a tool for quantifying NFT rarity and evaluating NFT price was demonstrated.

Factors affecting length of stay according to bronchopulmonary dysplasia severity:a nationwide cohort study in Korea

Background Longer hos.i.alizations for preterm infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia(BPD)delay developmental outcomes.i.crease the risk for hos.i.al-acquired complications,and exert a substantial socioeconomic *** study aimed to identify factors associated with an extended length of stay(LOs)at different levels of severity of *** A cohort study was conducted using the Korean Neonatal Network registry of very low birth weight infants with BPD between 2013 and 2017 through retrospective *** A total of 4263 infants were diagnosed with *** mild BPD,infants requiring surgical treatment for patent ductus arteriosus needed a longer LOs[eadjustedβcoefficients(adjβ)1.041;95%confidence interval(Ci):0.01–0.08]and hydrocephalus(eadjβ1.094;95%Ci 0.01–0.17).in moderate BPD,infants administered steroids or with intraventricular hemorrhage required a longer LOs(eadjβ1.041;95%Ci 0.00–0.07 and eadjβ1.271;95%Ci 0.11–0.38,respectively).in severe BPD,infants with comorbidities required a longer LOs:pulmonary hypertension(eadjβ1.174;95%Ci 0.09–0.23),administrated steroid for BPD(eadjβ1.116;95%Ci 0.07–0.14),sepsis(eadjβ1.062;95%Ci 0.01–0.11),patent ductus arteriosus requiring surgical ligation(eadjβ1.041;95%Ci 0.00–0.08),and intraventricular hemorrhage(eadjβ1.016;95%Ci 0.05–0.26).Additionally,the higher the clinical risk index score,the longer the LOs needed for infants.i. all *** The factors affecting LOs differed according to the severity of *** approaches to reducing LOs may be devised using knowledge of the various risk factors affecting LOs by BPD severity.
