Studies on three-dimensional structured carbon templates have focused on how to guide homogeneous lithium metal nucleation and growth for lithium metal anodes(LMAs).However,there is still insufficient evidence for a key factor to achieve their high electrochemical ***,the effects of nanopores and sulfur doping on carbon-based nanoporous host(CNH)electrode materials for LMAs were investigated using natural polymer-derived *** pore-filling behaviors of lithium metal in the nanopores of the CNH electrode materials were first observed by ex situ scanning electron microscopy analysis,where the protective lithium metal nucleation and growth process led to significantly high Coulombic efficiency(CE)of~99.4%and stable 600 *** addition,a comparison study of CNH and sulfurdoped CNH(S-CNH)electrodes,which differ only in the presence or absence of sulfur,revealed that sulfur doping can cause lower electrochemical series resistance,higher CE value,and better cycling stability in a wide range of current densities and number of ***,S-CNH-based LMAs showed high electrochemical performance in full-cell Li-S battery tests using a sulfur copolymer cathode,where a high energy density of 1370Wh kgelectrode−1 and an excellent power density of 4120Wkgelectrode−1 were obtained.

BACKGROUND Self-expandable metallic stent(SEMS)is widely used for malignant colorectal ***,SEMS has been used for palliative option for colorectal obstruction caused by extracolonic malignancy(ECM).AIM To evaluate the efficacy of SEMS for colorectal obstruction caused by ECM,and to identify the factors associated with stent *** Seventy-two patients who were treated with uncovered SEMS insertion for malignant colorectal obstructions caused by colorectal metastasis or peritoneal seeding of ECM at Samsung Medical Center between April 2012 to March 2016 were *** analyzed technical and clinical outcomes of stent insertion,the factors associated with stent occlusion and long term outcomes after stent *** Technical success rate was determined as 90.3%with a clinical success rate of 87.7%.Stent occlusion developed in 28.1%,with a median duration of 51 ***,81.3%with stent occlusion could be treated with secondary stent *** failure was observed to be related to the male sex(P=0.020)and right colon obstruction(P=0.017).Stent length≤10 cm was found to be associated with stent occlusion(P=0.003).Median survival time after stent insertion was 4.7 mo and 40.4%were able to receive their oncological treatments after stent insertion without *** Uncovered SEMS is effective for the treatment of colorectal obstruction caused by ECM,considering life expectancy of patients with ECM.

AIM To elucidate the epidemiological characteristics and associated risk factors of perforated peptic ulcer(PPU).METHODS We retrospectively reviewed medical records of patients who were diagnosed with benign PPU from 2010 through 2015 at 6 Hallym university-affiliated *** A total of 396 patients were identified with postoperative complication rate of 9.1% and mortality rate of 0.8%. Among 174(43.9%) patients who were examined for Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) infection, 78(44.8%) patients were positive for H. pylori infection, 21(12.1%) were on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) therapy, and 80(46%) patients were neither infected of H. pylori nor treated by any kinds of NSAIDs. Multivariate analysis indicated that older age(OR = 1.09, 95%CI: 1.04-1.16) and comorbidity(OR = 4.11, 95%CI: 1.03-16.48) were risk factors for NSAID-associated PPU compared with non-H. pylori, non-NSAID associated PPU and older age(OR = 1.04, 95%CI: 1.02-1.07) and alcohol consumption(OR = 2.08, 95%CI: 1.05-4.13) were risk factors for non-H. pylori, non-NSAID associated PPU compared with solely H. pylori positive *** Elderly patients with comorbidities are associated with NSAIDs-associated PPU. Non-H. pylori, non-NSAID peptic ulcer is important etiology of PPU and alcohol consumption is associated risk factor.

Prediction of effluent concentration in a wastewater treatment plant using machine learning models

Of growing amount of food waste, the integrated food waste and waste water treatment was regarded as one of the efficient modeling method. However, the load of food waste to the conventional waste treatment process might lead to the high concentration of total nitrogen（T-N） impact on the effluent water quality. The objective of this study is to establish two machine learning models-artificial neural networks（ANNs） and support vector machines（SVMs）, in order to predict 1-day interval T-N concentration of effluent from a wastewater treatment plant in Ulsan, Korea. Daily water quality data and meteorological data were used and the performance of both models was evaluated in terms of the coefficient of determination（R^2）, Nash-Sutcliff efficiency（NSE）, relative efficiency criteria（d rel）. Additionally, Latin-Hypercube one-factor-at-a-time（LH-OAT） and a pattern search algorithm were applied to sensitivity analysis and model parameter optimization, respectively. Results showed that both models could be effectively applied to the 1-day interval prediction of T-N concentration of effluent. SVM model showed a higher prediction accuracy in the training stage and similar result in the validation ***, the sensitivity analysis demonstrated that the ANN model was a superior model for 1-day interval T-N concentration prediction in terms of the cause-and-effect relationship between T-N concentration and modeling input values to integrated food waste and waste water treatment. This study suggested the efficient and robust nonlinear time-series modeling method for an early prediction of the water quality of integrated food waste and waste water treatment process.

Ionizing radiation is one of the most effective tools in cancer therapy. In a previous study, we reported that protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) inhibitors modulate the radiation responses in the human chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) cell line K562. The receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor, genistein, delayed radiation-induced cell death, while non-recepter tyrosine kinase inhibitor, herbimycin A (HMA) enhances radiation-induced apoptosis. In this study, we focused on the modulation of radiation-induced cell death by genistein and performed PCR-select suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) to understand its molecular mechanism. We identified human thymidine kinase 1 (TK1), which is cell cycle regulatory gene and confirmed expression of TK1 mRNA by Northern blot analysis. Expression of TKl mRNA and TK1 enzymatic activity were parallel in their increase and decrease. TK1 is involved in G1-S phase transition of cell cycle progression. The incidence of gastric cancer remains high in *** gastrointestinal(GI) endoscopy,i.e.,esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD),has a higher diagnostic specificity and sensitivity than the upper GI ***,EGD has the ability to biopsy,through taking a tissue of the pathologic *** training of EGD procedural skills require a few important things to be learned and remembered,including the posture of an examinee(e.g.,left lateral decubitus and supine) and examiner(e.g.,one-man standing method vs one-man sitting method),basic skills(e.g.,tip deflection,push forward and pull back,and air suction and infusion),advanced skills(e.g.,paradoxical movement,J-turn,and U-turn),and intubation techniques along the upper GI tract(e.g.,oral cavity,pharynx,larynx including vocal cord,upper and middle and lower esophagus,gastroesophageal junction,gastric fundus,body,and antrum,duodenal bulb,and descending part of duodenum).In the current review,despite several limitations,we explained the intubation method of EGD for *** hope this will be helpful to beginners who wish to learn the procedure.
