Role of rice cytosolic hexokinase OsHXK7 in sugar signaling and metabolism

We characterized the function of the rice cytosolic hexokinase OsHXK7 （Qryza sativa HexokindseZ）, which is highly upregulated when seeds germinate under O2- deficient conditions. According to transient expression assays that used the promoter：luciferase fusion construct, OsHXK7 enhanced the glucose （Glc）-dependent repression of a rice n-amylase gene （RAmy3D） in the mesophyll protoplasts of maize, but its catalytically inactive mutant alleles did not. Consistently, the expression of OsHXK7, but not its catalytically inactive alleles, complemented the Arabidopsis glucose insensitive2-1 （gin2-1） mutant, thereby resulting in the wild type characteristics of Glc-dependent repression, seedling development, and plant growth. Interestingly, OsHXK7-mediated Glc-dependent repression was abolished in the O2-deficient mesophyll protoplasts of maize. This result provides compelling evidence that OsHXK7 functions in sugar signaling via a glycolysis-dependent manner under normal conditions, but its signaling role is suppressed when O2 is deficient. The germination of two null OsHXK7 mutants, oshxk7-1 and oshxk7-2, was affected by O2 deficiency, but overexpression enhanced germination in rice. This result suggests the distinct role that OsHXK7 plays in sugar metabolism and efficient germination by enforcing glycolysis-mediated fermentation in O2-deficient rice.

Prominent cycling reversibility and kinetics enabled by CaTiO_(3) protective layer on Zn metal for aqueous Zn-ion batteries

Aqueous Zn-ion batteries (AZIBs) have received considerable attention owing to their various advantages such as safety,low cost,simple battery assembly conditions,and high ionic ***,they still suffer from serious problems,including uncontrollable dendrite growth,corrosion,hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) from water decomposition,electrode passivation,and unexpected *** creation of a uniform artificial nanocrystal layer on the Zn anode surface is a promising strategy for resolving these ***,we propose the use of a perovskite CaTiO_(3)(CTO) protective layer on Zn(CTO@Zn) as a promising approach for improving the performance of *** CTO artificial layer provides an efficient pathway for Zn ion diffusion towards the Zn metal because of the high dielectric constant (εr=180) and ferroelectric characteristics that enable the alignment of dipole moments and redistribute the Zn^(2+)ions in the CTO *** avoiding the direct contact of the Zn anode with the electrolyte solution,the uneven dendrite growth,corrosion,parasitic side reactions,and HER are mitigated,while CTO retains its mechanical and chemical robustness during ***,CTO@Zn demonstrates an improved lifespan in a symmetric cell configuration compared with bare ***@Zn shows steady overpotential (~68 m V) for 1500 h at 1 mA cm^(-2)/0.5 mA h cm^(-2),excelling bare ***,when paired with the V_(2)O_(5)-C cathode,the CTO@Zn//V_(2)O_(5)-C full battery delivers 148.4 mA h g^(-1)(based on the mass of the cathode) after 300 *** study provides new insights into Zn metal anodes and the development of high-performance AZIBs.

Mammal distribution is shaped by different ecological and anthropogenic factors,and the pattern varies depending on their sensitivity thresholds,food and habitat preferences,ecological roles,and physical *** present study investigated the influence of ecological and anthropogenic factors on the distribution of mammal species communities across different trophic levels and body sizes in Myanmar's Htamanthi Wildlife Sanctuary(HWS).The values of mammal characteristics,ecological,and anthropogenic factors were analyzed in ArcMap *** of the large and small sized mammals,whose distribution decreases with elevation,were observed near the main *** mammal tropic levels,the omnivores and herbivores were mostly observed farther from gold mining *** terms of forage plant effect on mammal community,floral forage plants and the presence of climber negatively affected mammal species across different trophic ***,presence of resin trees also has a substantial impact on the distribution of medium-large animals and omnivorous mammals as trophic niche ***,our findings highlight the crucial role that ecological and anthropogenic factors play in shaping mammal distribution in the *** underscores the importance of simultaneously conserving both habitat and mammal diversity in HWS,especially in the face of a changing climate and environment.

Machine Learning-Based Detection and Selective Mitigation of Denial-of-Service Attacks in Wireless Sensor Networks

As the density of wireless networks increases globally, the vulnerability of overlapped dense wireless communications to interference by hidden nodes and denial-of-service (DoS) attacks is becoming more apparent. There exists a gap in research on the detection and response to attacks on Medium Access Control (MAC) mechanisms themselves, which would lead to service outages between nodes. Classifying exploitation and deceptive jamming attacks on control mechanisms is particularly challengingdue to their resemblance to normal heavy communication patterns. Accordingly, this paper proposes a machine learning-based selective attack mitigation model that detects DoS attacks on wireless networks by monitoring packet log data. Based on the type of detected attack, it implements effective corresponding mitigation techniques to restore performance to nodes whose availability has been compromised. Experimental results reveal that the accuracy of the proposed model is 14% higher than that of a baseline anomaly detection model. Further, the appropriate mitigation techniques selected by the proposed system based on the attack type improve the average throughput by more than 440% compared to the case without a response.

An in-situ Raman spectroscopic study on potential-pO^(2-) phase diagram of lanthanum in LiCl-KCl eutectic melt

The oxidative reaction between lanthanum trichloride and oxide ion was studied in the molten LiCl-KCl eutectic at 773 K by in-situ Raman spectroscopy using an yttria-stabilized zirconia electrode in conjunction with electrochemical *** formation of lanthanum oxychloride,LaOCl(s),was confirmed by studying the vibrational properties of crystalline LaOCl and X-ray diffraction *** solubility product of LaOCl in the LiCl-KCl molten eutectic at 773 K is found to be pKsp(LaOCl)=7.569±0.100,by combining the results of Raman spectroscopy and potentiometric titration with the addition of barium *** use of Raman spectroscopic quantitation of dissolved lanthanum ions in the system allows faster and more accurate determination of the stable phase of lanthanum as well as the solubility product of LaOCl compared with that measured by potentiometric titration *** on experimentally obtained pKsp and standard equilibrium potentials,the potentialpO2- phase diagram of lanthanum in the molten LiCl-KCl eutectic was reported.

Investigation on static routing and resource assignment of elastic all-optical switched intra-datacenter networks

In this paper, we explore the issue of static routing and spectrum/IT resource assignment(RSIA)of elastic all-optical switched intra-datacenter networks(intra-DCNs) by proposing anycast- and manycastbased integer linear programming(ilP) models. The objective is to jointly optimize the DCN resources, i.e.,network transmission bandwidth and IT resources, under different situations. First, for given service-request matrices with unknown network transmission bandwidth and IT resources, we propose anycast and manycast ilP models to minimize the maximum numbers of required network and IT resources to accommodate all the service requests. For anycast RSIA issue, we proposed two different ilP models that are based on node-arc and link-path methods, respectively. Node-arc based manycast ilP model is also proposed for the first time to our knowledge. Second, for given network transmission bandwidth and IT resources and known servicerequest matrices, we propose node-arc based anycast ilP models to maximize the total number of successfully served service requests. To evaluate the efficiency of anycast and manycast models, all proposed ilP models are evaluated and compared with unicast ilP models. Simulation results show that anycast and manycast ilP models perform much better in efficiently using DCN resources and successfully accommodating more service requests when compared to unicast ilP models under the same network conditions.

Multimodal treatments of right gastroepiploic arterial leiomyosarcoma with hepatic metastasis:A case report and review of the literature

Leiomyosarcoma of an artery is very rare, and cases with hepatic metastasis are even rarer. We describe a case of a 70-year-old man who after follow up due to rectal cancer, presented with an intra-abdominal hypervascular mass and a hepatic mass. After surgical resection, it was diagnosed as a leiomyosarcoma of the right gastroepiploic artery with hepatic metastasis. Multiple metastases had recurred at the liver. He has survived more than 53 mo through multimodal treatments(three surgical resections, radiofrequency ablation, transarterial chemoembolization, chemotherapies, and targeted therapy). Multimodal treatments, including active surgical resection, may behelpful in the treatment of aggressive diseases such as arterial leiomyosarcoma with metastasis.

Electrochemical Characteristics in Seawater for Cold Thermal Spray-Coated Al-Mg Alloy Layer

For corrosion protection of carbon steel in a marine environment,cold arc thermal spray coating was applied to the surface with Al and Al-Mg alloy *** surface hardness of Al and Al-Mg thermal spray coatings increased with Mg *** the various electrochemical experiments were carried out to evaluate corrosion damage characteristics of the thermal spray coating *** Al and Al-Mg thermal spray coating layers presented negative potentials compared to carbon steel in corrosion potential *** an anodic polarization experiment revealed a tendency of activation polarization with no ***,the corrosion damage of the thermal spray coating layer in galvanostatic experiment was observed mainly at the defect area,and the Al-3Mg thermal spray coating layer presented less surface damages than *** addition,the Al-3Mg thermal spray coating layer showed the lowest corrosion rate while having a sufficient driving voltage for cathodic corrosion ***,it is an optimal thermal spray material for sacrificial anode.
