Finite Temperature Magnetism in the Triangular Lattice Antiferromagnet KErTe_(2)

After the discovery of the ARECh2(A=alkali or monovalent ions,RE=rare-earth,Ch=chalcogen)triangular lattice quantum spin liquid(QSL)family,a series of its oxide,sulfide,and selenide counterparts has been consistently reported and extensively *** KErTe_(2) represents the initial synthesized telluride member,preserving its triangular spin lattice,it was anticipated that the substantial tellurium ions could impart more pronounced magnetic attributes and electronic structures to this material *** study delves into the magnetism of KErTe_(2) at finite temperatures through magnetization and electron spin resonance(ESR)*** on the angular momentum J after spin-orbit coupling(SOC)and symmetry analysis,we obtain the magnetic effective Hamiltonian to describe the magnetism of Er^(3+)in R3m space *** the mean-field approximation to the Hamiltonian,we can simulate the magnetization and magnetic heat capacity of KErTe_(2) in paramagnetic state and determine the crystalline electric field(CEF)parameters and partial exchange *** relatively narrow energy gaps between the CEF ground state and excited states exert a significant influence on the *** example,small CEF excitations can result in a significant broadening of the ESR linewidth at 2 *** the fitted exchange interactions,although the values are small,given a large angular momentum J=15/2 after SOC,they still have a noticeable effect at finite ***,the heat capacity data under different magnetic fields along the𝑐axis direction also roughly match our calculated results,further validating the reliability of our analytical *** derived parameters serve as crucial tools for future investigations into the ground state magnetism of KErTe_(2).The findings presented herein lay a foundation for exploration of the intricate magnetism within the triangular-lattice delafossite family.

Manipulating emergent quantum phenomena is a key issue for understanding the underlying physics and contributing to possible *** we study the evolution of insulating ground states of Ta_(2)Pu_(3)Te_(5) and Ta_(2)Ni_(3)Te_(5) under in-situ surface potassium deposition via angle-resolved photoemission *** results confirm the excitonic insulator character of Ta_(2)d_(3)Te_(5).Upon surface doping,the size of its global gap decreases *** a deposition time of more than 7 min,the potassium atoms induce a metal-insulator phase transition and make the system recover to a normal *** contrast,our results show that the isostructural compound Ta_(2)Ni_(3)Te_(5) is a conventional *** size of its global gap decreases upon surface doping,but persists positive throughout the doping *** results not only confirm the excitonic origin of the band gap in Ta_(2)Pd_(3)Te_(5),but also offer an effective method for designing functional quantum devices in the future.

Effects of temperature and magnetic field direction on the electron-hole compensation in WTe_2

Dear Editors, Tungsten ditelluride （WTe2） is a layered transition-metal dichalcogenide （TMD）. The tungsten layers are clipped by adjacent chalcogenide layers. The sandwich structure stacks along the c-axis with Van Der Waals bonding between layers. Particularly, tungsten chains are formed along the a-axis within the dichalcogenide layers.

Charge density wave transition in Na_2Ti_2Sb_2O probed by^(23)Na NMR

Herein we investigated the electronic properties of layered transition-metal oxides NazTi2Sb2O by 23Na nuclear magnetic reso- nance （NMR） measurement. The resistivity, susceptibility and specific heat measurements show a phase transition at approxi- mately 114 K （TA）. No splitting or broadening in the central line of 23Na NMR spectra is observed below and above the transi- tion temperature indicating no internal field being detected. The spin-lattice relaxation rate divided by T （I/T1T） shows a sharp drop at about 110 K which suggests a gap opening behavior. Below the phase transition temperature zone, I/T1T shows Fermi liquid behavior but with much smaller value indicating the loss of large part of electronic density of states （DOS） because of the gap. No signature of the enhancement of spin fluctuations or magnetic order is found with the decreasing temperature. These results suggest a commensurate charge-density-wave （CDW） phase transition occurring.

Large and anisotropic linear magnetoresistance in bulk stoichiometric Cd_3As_2 crystals

Cd3As2 was recently identified as a novel three-dimensional （3D） topological semimetal hosting the long-pursuing 3D Dirac Fermion. Crystals of Cd3As2 grown preferentially along the [100] and [112] directions were obtained through the modified chemical vapor transfer growth method, thus allowing the examination of transport anisotropy. The resistivity and magnetore- sistance （MR） are basically linear with respect to magnetic field （H） in the measured temperature range of 2-300 K irrespective of the directions. The linear resistivity and MR are significantly anisotropic not only along [100] and [112] directions but also with respect to tilt angle between the growth directions and H, thus providing transport signatures of the 3D Dirac Fermion as well as the possible linear and anisotropic change of Weyl Fermi surface in H. Very large MR along the [100] direction is observed, even approaching 3100% at 2 K and 14 kOe （10e = 79.5775 A m^-l）. The results would be helpful in renewing interest in studying emergent phenomena arising from bulk 3D Dirac Fermion as well as in paving the way for Cd3As2 to be used in magnetoelectronic sensors.

Anomalous Hall Effect in Layered Ferrimagnet MnSb2Te4

We report on low-temperature electron transport properties of MnSb2Te4,a candidate of ferrimagnetic Weyl ***-range magnetic order is manifested as a nearly square-shaped hysteresis loop in the anomalous Hall resistance,as well as sharp jumps in the *** temperatures below 4K,a lnT-type upturn appears in the temperature dependence of longitudinal resistance,which can be attributed to the electron-electron interaction(EEI),since the weak localization can be excluded by the temperature dependence of *** the anomalous Hall resistance exhibits a similar lnT-type upturn in the same temperature range,such correction is absent in the anomalous Hall *** work demonstrates that MnSb2Te4 microflakes provide an ideal system to test the theory of EEI correction to the anomalous Hall effect.

Resistance Anomaly and Linear Magnetoresistance in Thin Flakes of Itinerant Ferromagnet Fe_(3)GeTe_(2)

Research interests in recent years have expanded into quantum materials that display novel magnetism incorporating strong correlations,topological effects,and dimensional ***_(3)GeTe_(2)represents such a twodimensional van der Waals platform exhibiting itinerant ferromagnetism with many intriguing *** to date,most electronic transport studies on Fe_(3)GeTe_(2)have been limited to its anomalous Hall responses while the longitudinal counterpart(such as magnetoresistance)remains largely ***,we report a few unusual transport behaviors on thin flakes of Fe_(3)GeTe_(2).Upon cooling to the base temperature,the sample develops a resistivity upturn that shows a crossover from a marginally-ln T to a-T^(1/2)dependence,followed by a lowertemperature ***,we observe a negative and non-saturating linear magnetoresistance when the magnetization is parallel or antiparallel to the external magnetic *** slope of the linear magnetoresistance also shows a nonmonotonic temperature *** deduce an anomalous contribution to the magnetoresistance at low temperatures with a scaling function proportional-HT^(1/2),as well as a temperature-independent linear *** mechanisms that could account for our observations are discussed.

Edge superconductivity in multilayer WTe2 Josephson junction

WTe2, as a type-II Weyl semimetal, has 2D Fermi arcs on the (001) surface in the bulk and 1D helical edge states in its monolayer. These features have recently attracted wide attention in condensed matter ***, in the intermediate regime between the bulk and monolayer, the edge states have not been resolved owing to its closed band gap which makes the bulk states dominant. Here, we report the signatures of the edge superconductivity by superconducting quantum interference measurements in multilayer WTe2Josephson junctions and we directly map the localized supercurrent. In thick WTe2(～ 60 nm), the supercurrent is uniformly distributed by bulk states with symmetric Josephson effect(|Ic~+(B)|=|Ic~-(B)|).In thin WTe2(10 nm), however, the supercurrent becomes confined to the edge and its width reaches up to 1.4 μm and exhibits non-symmetric behavior |Ic~+(B)|≠|Ic~-(B)|. The ability to tune the edge domination by changing thickness and the edge superconductivity establishes WTe2as a promising topological system with exotic quantum phases and a rich physics.

We report a study of the electronic structure of BaFe_(2)As_(2) under uniaxial strains using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and transport measurements. Two electron bands at the MY point, with an energy splitting of 50 meV in the strain-free sample, shift downward and merge into each other under a large uniaxial strain, while three hole bands at theГ point shift downward together. However, we also observed an enhancement of the resistance anisotropy under uniaxial strains by electrical transport measurements, implying that the applied strains strengthen the electronic nematic order in BaFe_(2)As_(2). These observations suggest that the splitting of these two electron bands at the MY point is not caused by the nematic order in BaFe_(2)As_(2).

Discovery of a new superconductor with distinct crystal structure and chemistry often provides great opportunity for further expanding superconductor material base,and also leads to better understanding of superconductivity ***,we report the discovery of superconductivity in a new intermetallic oxide Hf_(3)Pt_Ge_(2)O synthesized through a solid-state *** Hf_(3)Pt_Ge_(2)O crystallizes in a cubic structure(space group Fm-3 m)with a lattice constant of a=1.241 nm,whose stoichiometry and atomic structure are determined by electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction *** superconductivity at 4.1 K and type-II superconducting nature are evidenced by the electrical resistivity,magnetic susceptibility,and specific heat *** intermetallic oxide Hf_(3)Pt_Ge_(2)O system demonstrates an intriguing structural feature that foreign oxygen atoms can be accommodated in the interstitial sites of the ternary intermetallic *** also successfully synthesized a series of Hf_(3)Pt_Ge_(2)O1+δ(-0.25≤δ≤0.5),and found theδ-dependent superconducting transition temperature *** atomic structure and the electronic structure are also substantiated by first-principles *** results present an entirely new family of superconductors with distinct structural and chemical characteristics,and could attract research interest in further finding new superconductors and exploring novel physics pertaining to the 5 d-electron in these intermetallic compound systems.
