Solvent-free Mechanochemical and Liquid-phase Reaction of [60]Fullerene with Ethyl 2-Diazopropionate

The solvent-free mechanochemical reaction and the liquid-phase reaction of C60 with ethyl 2-diazopropionate prepared in situ or preformed from alanine ethyl ester hydrochloride and sodium nitrite have been investigated. Methanofullerene 1 and fulleroids 2 and 3 from these reactions were obtained, meanwhile the pyrazoline intermediate was not observed. Fulleroids 2 and 3 can be converted to methanofullerene 1 in refluxing toluene.

Di-p-methoxyphenyl-2, 2-dinitroethylene reacts with 1-benzyl-1, 4-dihydronico- tinamide (BNAH) in deaerated acetonitrile to give 1, 1-di-p-methoxyphenyl-2, 2-dinitroethane, while 1, 1-di-O-methoxyphenyl-2, 2-dinitroethylene fails to react with BNAH under the same conditions, which provides evidence for a concerted electron-hydrogen atom transfer mechanism.

A Large Conformational Change of a Bridged b-Cyclodextrin Dimer in Aqueous Solution

A novel bridged b-CD dimer in which two b-cyclodextrins were linked by a naphthalene at positions 2 and 7 has been synthesized. 1H and 13CNMR measurements showed that a large change in the conformation of the dimer occurred in aqueous solution. The dimer interacted with methyl and ethyl orange to form stable inclusion complexes via 搃nduced fit?mechanism.
