2,3-Butanediol from the leachates of pine needles induces the resistance of Panax notoginseng to the leaf pathogen Alternaria panax

Compared with the use of monocultures in the field,cultivation of medicinal herbs in forests is an effective strategy to alleviate disease.Chemical interactions between herbs and trees play an important role in disease suppression in forests.We evaluated the ability of leachates from needles of Pinus armandii to induce resistance in Panax notoginseng leaves,identified the components via gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS),and then deciphered the mechanism of 2,3-Butanediol as the main component in the leachates responsible for resistance induction via RNA sequencing(RNA-seq).Prespraying leachates and 2,3-Butanediol onto leaves could induce the resistance of P.notoginseng to Alternaria panax.The RNA-seq results showed that prespraying 2,3-Butanediol onto leaves with or without A.panax infection upregulated the expression of large number of genes,many of which are involved in transcription factor activity and the mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) signaling pathway.Specifically,2,3-Butanediol spraying resulted in jasmonic acid(JA)-mediated induced systemic resistance(ISR) by activating MYC2 and ERF1.Moreover,2,3-Butanediol induced systemic acquired resistance(SAR) by upregulating pattern-triggered immunity(PTI)-and effector-triggered immunity(ETI)-related genes and activated camalexin biosynthesis through activation of WRKY33.Overall,2,3-Butanediol from the leachates of pine needles could activate the resistance of P.notoginseng to leaf disease infection through ISR,SAR and camalexin biosynthesis.Thus,2,3-Butanediol is worth developing as a chemical inducer for agricultural production.

A High-throughput Genomic Tool： Diversity Array Technology Complementary for Rice Genotyping

Diversity array technology （DART^TM） was a genotyping tool characterized gel-independent and high throughput. The main purpose of present study is to validate DArT for rice （Oryza sativa L.）genotyping in a high throughput manner. Technically, the main objective was to generate a rice general purpose gene pool, and optimize this genomic tool in order to evaluate rice germplasm genetic diversity. To achieve this, firstly, a generalpurpose DArT array was developed. Ten representatives from 24 varieties were hybridized with the general-purpose array to determine the informativeness of the clones printed on the array. The informative 1 152 clones were re-arrayed on a slide and used to fingerprint 17 of 24 germplasms. Hybridizing targets prepared from the germplasm to be assayed to the DNA array gave DNA fingerprints of germplasms. Raw data were normalized and transformed into binary data, which were then analyzed by using NTSYSpc （Numerical taxonomy system for cluster and ordination analysis, v. 2.02j） software package. The graphically displayed dendrogram derived from the array experimental data was matched with simple sequence repeats genotyping outline and varieties＇ pedigree deviation of the different varieties. Considering DArT is a sequence-independent genotyping approach, it will be applied in studies of the genetic diversity and the gene mapping of diverse of organisms, especially for those crops with less-developed molecular markers.

High-order Soliton Matrix for the Third-order Flow Equation of the Gerdjikov-Ivanov Hierarchy Through the Riemann-Hilbert Method

The Gerdjikov-Ivanov(GI)hierarchy is derived via recursion operator,in this article,we mainly investigate the third-order flow GI equation.In the framework of the Riemann-Hilbert method,the soliton matrices of the third-order flow GI equation with simple zeros and elementary high-order zeros of Riemann-Hilbert problem are constructed through the standard dressing process.Taking advantage of this result,some properties and asymptotic analysis of single soliton solution and two soliton solution are discussed,and the simple elastic interaction of two soliton are proved.Compared with soliton solution of the classical second-order flow,we find that the higher-order dispersion term affects the propagation velocity,propagation direction and amplitude of the soliton.Finally,by means of a certain limit technique,the high-order soliton solution matrix for the third-order flow GI equation is derived.

Partial Collapsing Degeneration of Floer Trajectories and Adiabatic Gluing

In the present paper,we study partial collapsing degeneration of Hamiltonian-perturbed Floer trajectories for an adiabatic ε-family and its reversal adiabatic gluing,as the prototype of the partial collapsing degeneration of 2-dimensional(perturbed)J-holomorphic maps to 1-dimensional gradient segments.We consider the case when the Floer equations are S^(1)-invariant on parts of their domains whose adiabatic limit has positive length as ε→0,which we call thimble-flow-thimble configurations.The main gluing theorem we prove also applies to the case with Lagrangian boundaries such as in the problem of recovering holomorphic disks out of pearly configuration.In particular,our gluing theorem gives rise to a new direct proof of the chain isomorphism property between the Morse-Bott version of Lagrangian intersection Floer complex of L by Fukaya-Oh-Ohta-Ono and the pearly complex of L Lalonde and Biran-Cornea.It also provides another proof of the present authors’earlier proof of the isomorphism property of the PSS map without involving the target rescaling and the scale-dependent gluing.

UAV-assisted cooperative offloading energy efficiency system for mobile edge computing

Reliable communication and intensive computing power cannot be provided effectively by temporary hot spots in disaster areas and complex terrain ground infrastructure.Mitigating this has greatly developed the application and integration of UAV and Mobile Edge Computing(MEC)to the Internet of Things(loT).However,problems such as multi-user and huge data flow in large areas,which contradict the reality that a single UAV is constrained by limited computing power,still exist.Due to allowing UAV collaboration to accomplish complex tasks,cooperative task offloading between multiple UAVs must meet the interdependence of tasks and realize parallel processing,which reduces the computing power consumption and endurance pressure of terminals.Considering the computing requirements of the user terminal,delay constraint of a computing task,energy constraint,and safe distance of UAV,we constructed a UAV-Assisted cooperative offloading energy efficiency system for mobile edge computing to minimize user terminal energy consumption.However,the resulting optimization problem is originally nonconvex and thus,difficult to solve optimally.To tackle this problem,we developed an energy efficiency optimization algorithm using Block Coordinate Descent(BCD)that decomposes the problem into three convex subproblems.Furthermore,we jointly optimized the number of local computing tasks,number of computing offloaded tasks,trajectories of UAV,and offloading matching relationship between multi-UAVs and multiuser terminals.Simulation results show that the proposed approach is suitable for different channel conditions and significantly saves the user terminal energy consumption compared with other benchmark schemes.

Operando investigation of particle re-entrainment mechanism in electrostatic capture process on the lab-on-a-chip

Inhalable particle is a harmful air pollutant that causes a significant threat to people's health and ecological environments,which should be removed to purify air,but there exists limited removal efficiency due to particle re-entrainment.Here,Operando observation system based on microscopic visualization method is developed to make in situ test of particle migration,deposition and re-entrainment characteristics on a lab-on-a-chip to achieve the investigation in micro-level scale.The deposition evolution of charged particles is recorded in electric field region intuitively,which confirms the fracture of particle chain occurs during the growth process of deposited particles.It captures the instantaneous process that a larger particle with micron size due to the coagulation of submicron particles fractures from main body of the particle chain for the first time.The analysis of migration behavior of a single submicron particle near electrode surface demonstrates the direct influence of drag force on the fracture of particle chain.This work is the first-time visualization of dynamic process and mechanism elucidation of particle re-entrainment at the micron level,and the findings will provide the theory support for the particle re-entrainment mechanism and bring inspires of enhancing capture efficiency of inhalable particle.

Broadband high-efficiency plasmonic metalens with negative dispersion characteristic

Controlling the dispersion characteristic of metasurfaces(or metalenses) along a broad bandwidth is of great importance to develop high-performance broadband metadevices. Different from traditional lenses that rely on the material refractive index along the light trajectory, metasurfaces or metalenses provide a new regime of dispersion control via a sub-wavelength metastructure, which is known as negative chromatic dispersion.However, broadband metalenses design with high-performance focusing especially with a reduced device dimension is a significant challenge in society. Here, we design, fabricate, and demonstrate a broadband highperformance diffractive-type plasmonic metalens based on a circular split-ring resonator metasurface with a relative working bandwidth of 28.6%. The metalens thickness is only 0.09λ0(λ0is at the central wavelength),which is much thinner than previous broadband all-dielectric metalenses. The full-wave simulation results show that both high transmissive efficiency above 80%(the maximum is even above 90%) and high average focusing efficiency above 45%(the maximum is 56%) are achieved within the entire working bandwidth of 9–12 GHz.Moreover, an average high numerical aperture of 0.7(NA = 0.7) of high-efficiency microwave metalens is obtained in the simulations. The broadband high-performance metalens is also fabricated and experimental measurements verify its much higher average focusing efficiency of 55%(the maximum is above 65% within the broad bandwidth) and a moderate high NA of 0.6. The proposed plasmonic metalens can facilitate the development of wavelength-dependent broadband diffractive devices and is also meaningful to further studies on arbitrary dispersion control in diffractive optics based on plasmonic metasurfaces.

Coilia nasus,a migratory fish species found in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and along offshore areas of China,possesses considerable aquacultural and economic potential.However,the species faces challenges due to significant variation in the gonadal development rate among females,resulting in inconsistent ovarian maturation times at the population level,an extended reproductive period,and limitations on fish growth rate due to ovarian prematurity.In the present study,we combined genome-wide association study(GWAS)and comparative transcriptome analysis to investigate the potential single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)and candidate genes associated with population-asynchronous ovarian development in C.nasus.Genotyping of the female population based on whole-genome resequencing yielded 2120695 high-quality SNPs,39 of which were suggestively associated with ovarian development.Of note,a significant SNP peak on LG21 containing 30 suggestively associated SNPs was identified,with cpne5a determined as the causal gene of the peak.Therefore,single-marker and haplotype association analyses were performed on cpne5a,revealing four genetic markers(P0.9)significantly associated with the phenotype.Comparative transcriptome analysis of precociously and normally maturing individuals screened out 29 and 426 overlapping differentially expressed genes in the brain and ovary,respectively,between individuals of different body sizes.Integrating the GWAS and transcriptome analysis results,this study identified genes and pathways related to hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis hormone secretion,extracellular matrix,angiogenesis,and gap junctions involved in population-asynchronous ovarian development.The insights gained from this study provide a basis for a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying ovarian development in fish and may facilitate the genetic breeding of C.nasus strains exhibiting population-synchronous ovarian development in the future.

Oral peptide therapeutics for diabetes treatment: State-of-the-art and future perspectives

Diabetes,characterized by hyperglycemia,is a major cause of death and disability worldwide.Peptides,such as insulin and glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1)analogs,have shown promise as treatments for diabetes due to their ability to mimic or enhance insulin's actions in the body.Compared to subcutaneous injection,oral administration of anti-diabetic peptides is a preferred approach.However,biological barriers significantly reduce the efficacy of oral peptide therapeutics.Recent advancements in drug delivery systems and formulation techniques have greatly improved the oral delivery of peptide therapeutics and their efficacy in treating diabetes.This review will highlight(1)the benefits of oral anti-diabetic peptide therapeutics;(2)the biological barriers for oral peptide delivery,including pH and enzyme degradation,intestinal mucosa barrier,and biodistribution barrier;(3)the delivery platforms to overcome these biological barriers.Additionally,the review will discuss the prospects in this field.The information provided in this review will serve as a valuable guide for future developments in oral anti-diabetic peptide therapeutics.
