Unraveling magnetic properties and martensitic transformation in Mn-rich Ni-Mn-Sn alloys:first-principles calculations and experiments

We have investigated the phase stability,magnetic properties,and martensitic transformation thermodynamics/kinetics of the Ni_(24-x)Mn_(18+x+y)Sn_(6-y)(x,y=0,1,2)system by combining the first-principles calculations and *** calculation results show that the optimized lattice parameters are consistent with the experimental ***,we obtain the relation equation for the austenite formation energy(E_(form-A))and Mn content(X_(Mn)):E_(form-A)=507.358X_(Mn)-274.126,as well as for the six-layer modulated(6M)martensite formation energy(E_(form-6M))and Ni content(X_(Ni)):E_(form-6M)=-728.484X_(Ni)+*** ternary phase diagram of the total magnetic moment was *** excess Mn will reduce the total magnetic moment of 6M(Mag6M)and non-modulated(NM)(MagNM)martensites,with the following equations relating the total magnetic moment and Mn content:Mag_(6M)=-15.905X_(Mn)+7.902and Mag_(NM)=-14.781X_(Mn)+7.411,while the effect on austenite is *** variation of total magnetic moment is mainly dominated by the Mn atomic magnetic *** 3d electrons of Mn_(Sn)(Mn at Sn sublattice)play an important role in magnetic properties from the perspective of the electronic density of *** on the thermodynamics of martensitic transformation,the alloys will likely undergo austenite?6M?NM transformation *** the thermodynamic and kinetic results,the martensitic transformation temperature decreases with x increasing and increases with y *** results are expected to provide reference for predicting the phase stability and magnetic properties of NiMn-Sn alloys.

Effect of tungsten carbide particles on microstructure and mechanical properties of Cu alloy composite bit matrix

Copper alloy composite bit matrix was prepared by pressureless vacuum infiltration,using at least one of the three kinds of tungsten carbide particles,for example,irregular cast tungsten carbide,monocrystalline tungsten carbide and sintered reduced tungsten carbide *** effects of powder particle morphology,particle size and mass fraction of tungsten carbide on the microstructure and mechanical properties of copper alloy composite were investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction and abrasive wear test in *** results show that tungsten carbide morphology and particle size have obvious effects on the mechanical properties of copper alloy *** tungsten carbide partially dissolved in the copper alloy binding phase,and layers of Cu_(0.3)W_(0.5)Ni_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)C phase with a thickness of around 8–15μm were formed on the edge of the cast tungsten *** 45%irregular crushed fine cast tungsten carbide and 15%monocrystalline cast tungsten carbide were used as the skeleton,satisfactory comprehensive performance of the reinforced copper alloy composite bit matrix was obtained,with the bending strength,impact toughness and hardness reaching 1048 MPa,4.95 J/cm^(2) and 43.6 HRC,*** main wear mechanism was that the tungsten carbide particles firstly protruded from the friction surface after the copper alloy matrix was worn,and then peeled off from the matrix when further wear occurred.

Synchronous condensers(SCs)are generally used at the receiving-end stations of ultra-high-voltage direct current(UHVDC)transmission systems due to their strong reactive power support and flexible regulation of reactive power according to the interconnected grids operating *** this paper,different starting control schemes of a SC integrated power grid are investigated providing four main contributions:1)The principle of reactive power support of the SC on the interconnected power grid is analytically studied,providing the establishment of mathematical models.2)Four different starting control schemes are developed for the initialization and SC integration,*** Scheme 1,a preset initial falling speed is directly utilized without initialization;in Scheme 2,a black start sequential control approach with a static frequency converter(SFC)is proposed;in Scheme 3,PI/PD/PID controllers are respectively applied for the excitation device at the speed-falling stage;in Scheme 4,a pre-insertion approach of an energy absorption component with R/L/RL is utilized to suppress the surges at the SC integration instant.3)The dynamic behaviors of four different starting schemes at specific operating stages are evaluated.4)The success rate of SC integration is analyzed to evaluate starting control *** of the SC interconnected system with four different starting control schemes is evaluated in the timedomain simulation environment PSCAD/EMTDC^(TM).The results prove the superiority of the proposed starting control approach in Scheme 4.

Effect of V on high-temperature mechanical properties of Al-5Cu-1.5Ni alloy

The effects of V on microstructure,room temperature,and high-temperature(350℃)mechanical properties of Al-5Cu-1.5Ni alloy were *** results show that Al-5Cu-1.5Ni-xV alloys mainly compriseα-Al,Al_(2)Cu,Al_(3)(Ni,Cu)_(2),Al_(3)Ni,Al7Cu4Ni,and Al_(10)V *** addition of V can signally refineα-Al dendritic structure,which improves the mechanical properties of the as-cast alloys at room and high *** T6 heat treatment(540℃/12 h/WC+170℃/8 h/AC),α-Al,network skeleton structure Al_(3)(Ni,Cu)_(2),and Al_(10)V phases all show coarsening,while the fine nano-θ'-Al_(2)Cu precipitated from the matrix and dispersed *** introduction of V promotes the quantity of precipitatedθ'-Al_(2)Cu *** ultimate tensile strength of the heat-treated alloys at room and high temperatures is greatly improved compared to that of the as-cast *** highest high-temperature ultimate tensile strength of the alloys with V is 111.8 MPa,21.5%higher than that of the base *** analysis shows that the improvement of high-temperature mechanical properties after heat treatment is mainly due to the introduction of V,increasing the precipitated quantity of nano-θ'-Al_(2)Cu particles and improving its thermal *** dispersion strengthening effect ofθ'-Al_(2)Cu particles exceeds the weakening effect of other adverse microstructures on the mechanical properties.

Lactic acid(LA)plays a major role in the occurrence,development,and spread of *** by its high accumulation in tumor site,a novel lactate oxidase(LOD)conjugated two-dimensional Pd@Ir nanoplatform(Pd@Ir-LOD,PIL)was fabricated to combine cascade reaction with photothermal for tumor *** detail,the overexpressed LA in tumor microenvironment(TME)was a key factor to activate the PIL-based cascade reaction:(1)Plenty of H_(2)O_(2)could be generated from LA by the catalysis of LOD with O_(2);(2)potent·OH was produced from H_(2)O_(2)due to the peroxidase(POD)-like activity of PIL;(3)meantime,PIL’s catalase(CAT)-like activity could decompose part H_(2)O_(2)into O_(2)to achieve the purpose of LA cyclic ***,the reduced glutathione(GSH)scavenging capability of PIL might protect the produced reactive oxygen species(ROS)from being cleared to further improve the cascade therapeutic *** importantly,PIL had excellent photothermal conversion efficiency(37.35%)and manifested a surprising temperature rising effect in *** together,the decreasing LA concentration,accumulation of high-toxic ROS,the depletion of GSH together with the higher intra-tumoral temperature potently enhanced in vivo antitumor ***,a promising therapeutic tactic based on PIL integrating endogenous LA consumption,chemodynamic therapy(CDT),and photothermal therapy(PTT)has been put forward.

The SLEGS beamline of SSRF

The Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source(SLEGS, located in BL03SSID) beamline at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility(SSRF) is a Laser Compton Scattering(LCS) gamma source used for the investigation of nuclear structure, which is in extensive demand in fields such as nuclear astrophysics, nuclear cluster structure, polarization physics, and nuclear energy. The beamline is based on the inverse Compton scattering of 10640 nm photons on 3.5 GeV electrons and a gamma source with variable energy by changing the scattering angle from 20° to 160°. γ rays of 0.25-21.1 MeV can be extracted by the scheme consisting of the interaction chamber, coarse collimator, fine collimator, and attenuator. The maximum photon flux for 180° is approximately 10~7 photons/s at the target at 21.7 MeV, with a 3-mm-diameter beam. The beamline was equipped with four types of spectrometers for experiments in( γ,γ'),( γ,n),( γ,p), and( γ,α). At present, Nuclear Resonance Fluorescence(NRF) spectrometry, Flat-Efficiency neutron Detector(FED) spectrometry, neutron Time-Of-Flight(TOF) spectrometry, and Light-Charged Particle(LCP) spectrometry methods have been developed.

Thermal pretreatment of willow branches impacts yield and pore development of activated carbon in subsequent activation with ZnCl_(2) via modifying cellulose structure

Development of pore structures of activated carbon(AC)from activation of biomass with ZnCl_(2) relies on content and structure of cellulose/hemicellulose in the *** pretreatment of biomass could induce dehydration and/or aromatization to change the structure of cellulose/*** might interfere with evolution of structures of AC,which was investigated herein via thermal pretreatment of willow branch(WB)from 200 to 360℃and the subsequent activation with ZnCl_(2) at 550℃.The results showed that thermal pretreatment at 360℃(WB-360)could lead to substantial pyrolysis to form biochar,with a yield of 31.9%,accompanying with nearly complete destruction of cellulose crystals and remarkably enhanced aromatic ***,cellulose residual in WB-360 could still be activated to form AC-360 with specific surface area of 1837.9 m~2·g^(-1),which was lower than that in AC from activation of untreated WB(AC-blank,2077.8 m~2·g^(-1)).Nonetheless,the AC-200 from activation of WB-200 had more developed pores(2113.9 m~2·g^(-1))and superior capability for adsorption of phenol,due to increased permeability of ZnCl_(2) to the largely intact cellulose structure in *** thermal pretreatment did increase diameters of micropores of AC but reduced the overall yield of AC(26.8%for AC-blank versus 18.0%for AC-360),resulting from accelerated cracking but reduced intensity of ***-situ infrared characterization of the activation showed that ZnCl_(2) mainly catalyzed dehydration,dehydrogenation,condensation,and aromatization but not cracking,suppressing the formation of derivatives of cellulose and lignin in *** thermal pretreatment formed phenolic-OH and C=O with higher chemical innerness,which changed the reaction network in activation,shifting morphology of fibrous structures in AC-blank to“melting surface”in AC-200 or AC-280.

Fluoro-functionalized plant biomass adsorbent:Preparation and application in extraction of trace perfluorinated compounds from environmental water samples

Perfuorinated compounds(PFCs)are toxic and widely present in the environment,and therefore effective adsorbents are required to remove PFCs from environmental *** the present study,a new type of fuorinated biomass materials was synthesized via an ingenious fuorosilanization *** adsorbents were applied for the adsorption of 13typical PFCs,including perfuorocarboxylic acids(PFCAs)and perfuorosulfonic acids(PFSAs).By comparing their adsorption performance,Fluorinated cedar slag(FCS)was discovered to have the best absorption efficiency and enabled highly efficient enrichment of *** adsorption recovery of FCS with the investigated PFCs is greater than 90%under the optimal adsorption *** to the high affinity of F-F sorbent-sorbate interaction,FCS had good adsorption capacities of PFCs from aqueous solution,with the maximum adsorption capacity of 15.80 mg/g for PFOS and 10.71 mg/g for PFOA,***,the adsorption time could be achieved in a short time(8 min).Using the FCS absorbent,an innovative FCS-solid phase extraction assisted with high performance liquid chromatography-electrospray-tandem mass spectrometry(FCS-SPE-HPLC-ESI-MS/MS)method was first developed to sensitively detect PFCs in the environmental water *** intra-day and inter-day recovery rates of the 13 compounds ranged from 90.7%-104.3%,with the RSD of 2.1%-4.7%(intra-day)and 2.5%-8.5%(inter-day),*** research demonstrates the potential of the newly fuoro-functionalized plant biomass to adsorb PFCs from environmental water,with the advantages of high adsorption efficiencies,high antiinterference,easy operation and low economic cost.
