Degradation of warm permafrost and talik formation on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in 2006-2021

Permafrost is degrading globally,particularly those with low thermal stability on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,owing to climate ***,the inadequacy of direct research on permafrost degradation based on in-situ monitoring limits the prediction of permafrost degradation and engineering *** study explored the processes and modes of permafrost degradation into talik by analyzing ground temperature data from five points in the hinterland of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from 2006 to *** results showed that the degradation of the warm permafrost layer with a geothermal gradient of zero occurred simultaneously in the top and bottom *** rate of permafrost degradation from the top down and bottom up increase during the degradation process,but the increase of the former is more drastic after the formation of thawed ***,the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway changed the degradation modes of the permafrost in adjacent natural sites through horizontal heat transfer,particularly after through talik formation under the *** findings suggest that taking countermeasures before or immediately after forming thawed interlayer is more *** evaluating the thermal impact of projects in warm permafrost regions,special attention should be given to the horizontal heat transfer process that may result from the formation of a through talik.

Field observations of the thermal stability of permafrost under buildings with an underfloor open ventilation space and pile foundations in warm permafrost at high altitudes

Pile foundations combined with ventilation spaces under floors are the most common method in buildings over *** safety and stability of buildings are closely related to the temperature of ***,there are limitations of understanding on this method in the high-altitude,warm(>−1℃)permafrost areas on the Qinghai–Tibet *** this study,the thermal stability of permafrost foundation soils under buildings with an underfloor open ventilation space and pile foundations in warm permafrost at high altitudes was studied through field observations of ground and air temperatures,wind speed,net radiation from 2017 to *** results indicated that the open ventilation space exerted an effective cooling effect on the underlying permafrost and pile foundations from March to October,while a thermal insulation effect was observed from November to February of the following year,but overall,the cooling effect dominated;the cooling effect of open ventilation spaces differed *** permafrost temperature on the south-facing side was higher than that on the north-facing side,and those on the east and west sides were higher than that directly under the open ventilation space of the *** study also demonstrated that radiation shielded by the building was a main factor of the cooling effect of open ventilation spaces,and the cooling effect of open ventilation spaces could accelerate the back-freezing of the cast-in-place(CIP)pile *** structure could effectively maintain the frozen state of the underlying warm permafrost at high elevations on the interior Qinghai–Tibet Plateau.

STRAP binds to and promotes the repair of N1-methyldeoxyadenosine in DNA

N1-methyladenosine(m1A)is an important RNA modification that functions in various biological processes by interacting with cellular ***,the binding proteins of N1-methyldeoxyadenosine(1mdA)in DNA remain largely ***,we employed a quantitative proteomics strategy to identify the potential binding proteins of 1mdA in human *** results revealed that serine–threonine kinase receptor-associated protein(STRAP)can bind to 1mdA-carrying *** further demonstrated that STRAP participates in alkylating agent-induced DNA damage response and can promote the repair of 1mdA embedded in ***,we investigated the effects of STRAP on 1mdA-induced perturbation in transcription using a shuttle vector-and next-generation sequencing-based assay,and found that STRAP is involved in the transcriptional bypass of 1mdA in human ***,our study revealed STRAP as a novel 1mdA-binding protein in human cells and provided new insight into the biological implications of STRAP and 1mdA modification in human diseases.

A New Class of Strong Orthogonal Arrays of Strength Three

Strong orthogonal arrays(SOAs) were recently introduced and studied as a class of spacefilling designs for computer experiments. To surely realize better space-filling properties, SOAs of strength three or higher are desirable. In addition, orthogonality is also an important property for designs of computer experiments, because it guarantees that the estimates of the main effects are uncorrelated. This paper first provides a systematic study on the construction of(nearly) orthogonal strength-three SOAs with better space-filling properties. The newly proposed strength-three SOAs enjoy almost the same space-filling properties of strength-four SOAs, and can accommodate much more columns than the latter. Moreover, they are(nearly) orthogonal and flexible in run sizes. The construction methods are straightforward to implement, and their theoretical supports are well established. In addition to the theoretical results, many designs are tabulated for practical needs.

Th17/Treg balance and macrophage polarization ratio in lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans

Objective:To explore the balance of peripheral blood T helper 17 cells/regulatory T cell(Th17/Treg)ratio and the polarization ratio of M1 and M2 macrophages in lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans(ASO).Methods:A rat model of lower extremity ASO was established,and blood samples from patients with lower extremity ASO before and after surgery were *** was used to detect interleukin 6(IL-6),IL-10,and ***-time RCR and Western blot analyses were used to detect Foxp3,IL-6,IL-10,and IL-17 ***,flow cytometry was applied to detect the Th17/Treg ratio and M1/M2 ***:Compared with the control group,the iliac artery wall of ASO rats showed significant hyperplasia,and the concentrations of cholesterol and triglyceride were significantly increased(P<0.01),indicating the successful establishment of ***,the levels of IL-6 and IL-17 in ASO rats were pronouncedly increased(P<0.05),while the IL-10 level was significantly decreased(P<0.05).In addition to increased IL-6 and IL-17 levels,the mRNA and protein levels of Foxp3 and IL-10 in ASO rats were significantly decreased compared with the control *** Th17/Treg and M1/M2 ratios in the ASO group were markedly increased(P<0.05).These alternations were also observed in ASO *** endovascular surgery(such as percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and arterial stenting),all these changes were significantly improved(P<0.05).Conclusions:The Th17/Treg and M1/M2 ratios were significantly increased in ASO,and surgery can effectively improve the balance of Th17/Treg,and reduce the ratio of M1/M2,and the expression of inflammatory factors.

Comparison of Rotating Stall Warning by Different Methods for Variable Speed Configurations in a Contra-Rotating Compressor

Stall in compressors can cause performance degradation and even lead to *** unacceptable consequences can be avoided by timely monitoring stall inception and taking effective *** paper focused on the rotating stall warning in a low-speed axial contra-rotating ***,the stall disturbance characteristics under different speed configurations were *** results showed that as the speed ratio(RR)increased,the stall disturbance propagation speed based on the rear rotor speed gradually ***,the standard deviation(SD)method,the cross-correlation(CC)method,and the discrete wavelet transform(DWT)method were employed to obtain the stall initiation moments of three different speed *** was found that the SD and CC methods did not achieve significant stall warning results in all three speed ***,the stall initiation moment obtained by the DWT method at RR=1.125 was one period after the stall had fully developed,which was ***,a stall warning method was developed in the present work based on the long short-term memory(LSTM)regression *** applying the LSTM model,the predicted stall initiation moments of three speed configurations were at the 557th,518th,and 333rd revolution,which were44,2,and 74 revolutions ahead of stall onset moments,***,in scenarios where a minor disturbance preceded the stall,the stall warning effect of the LSTM was greatly improved in comparison with the aforementioned three *** contrast,when the pressure fluctuation before the stall was relatively small,the differences between the stall initiation moments predicted by these four methods were not significant.

Preparation of K-doped g-C_(3)N_(4) composite loaded on magnetic attapulgite and its degradation performance for malachite green

Visible-light-driven photocatalysis is a promising technology for the treatment of dye *** this work,a novel photocatalyst of K-doped g-C_(3)N_(4) loaded on magnetic attapulgite(ATP)(Kω-g-C_(3)N_(4)@ATP-Fe_(3)O_(4))with excellent visible light photocatalytic properties and stability were successfully prepared and *** removal efficiency of Kω-g-C_(3)N_(4)@ATP-Fe_(3)O_(4) for malachite green(MG)was studied,and the degradation mechanism was analyzed and *** was found that the K_(5)-g-C_(3)N_(4)@ATP-Fe_(3)O_(4) photocatalyst possessed excellent degradation efficiency of over 98.0%for the MG dye wastewater under optimal ***,the K_(5)-g-C_(3)N_(4)@ATP-Fe_(3)O_(4) materials possessed good recyclability with a removal rate over 82%after 4 *** visible light condition,the K_(5)-g-C_(3)N_(4)@ATP-Fe_(3)O_(4) photocatalyst produce radicals of·OH and O_(2)^(-)to degrade the MG dyes,which was supported by electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)and radical trapping *** addition,the LC-MS analysis interpreted the degradation pathways and intermediates of MG in the *** findings in this work indicate that the prepared photocatalytic material has excellent degradation efficiency for MG and can be applied in dye wastewater treatment.

Enhanced quality of Al2O3/SiC gate stack via microwave plasma annealing

The high-quality gate dielectric on silicon carbide （SiC） surface is critical to fabricate high-performance SiC metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors（MOSFETs）.This research employs microwave plasma annealing （MPA） to obtain high-quality Al2O3/SiC gate *** designing MPA atmosphere and optimizing the plasma power,the SiC MOS capacitor with a Al2O3dielectric film shows the enhanced *** interface state density is reduced by 1 order of magnitude to 6×1011cm-2·eV-1,the breakdown electric field is increased,and the voltage shift is effectively suppressed Besides,the mechanism of MPA process is discussed in terms of the thermal effect and reactant species.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） results unveil oxygen plasma plays the main *** plasma power during the MPA process results in defect repairs of the firstneighbor Al-O bonding and partial removal of Al-O-H bond from the interface *** study demonstrates that MPA process is an effective option to realize highquality dielectric and interface on SiC.
