AIM:To investigate the protective effects,antioxidant potential,and anti-inflammatory mechanisms of eicosane on glutamate-induced cell damage and on N-methyl-Daspartate(NMDA)-induced retinal ganglion cell(RGC)injury in a mouse model of glaucoma.METHODS:The protective effects of eicosane on the rat R28 retinal precursor cell line were assessed using cell counting kit-8 assays and Hoechst-propidium iodide staining.Intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)production was measured using the fluorescent probe 2'-7'-dichlorofluorescin diacetate and flow cytometry.The protective role of eicosane on NMDA-induced RGC injury in a mouse glaucoma model was determined by immunostaining of frozen sections of retina.The effects of eicosane on the metabolome of the retina in mice with NMDA-induced RGC damage were evaluated by liquid chromatographymass spectroscopy(LC-MS)and untargeted metabolomics analyses.RESULTS:Eicosane treatment significantly attenuated glutamate-induced damage to R28 cells in vitro.Eicosane also protected RGCs against NMDA-induced injury in a mouse glaucoma model.Untargeted metabolomics analyses showed that eicosane increased multiple metabolites,including L-arginine and L-carnitine,in the retina.CONCLUSION:Eicosane has protective effects,antioxidant potential,and anti-inflammatory properties in an in vitro model of glutamate-induced cell damage and in an in vivo model of NMDA-induced RGC injury in mouse glaucoma through modulation of L-arginine and/or L-carnitine metabolism.

BACKGROUND Colorectal foreign bodies are commonly encountered during surgery.They are frequently observed in men 20 to 90 years of age and have bimodal age distribution.Surgical management is necessary for cases of rectal perforation.However,surgical site infections are the most common complications after colorectal surgery.CASE SUMMARY We discuss a case of rectal perforation in a patient who presented to our hospital 2 d after its occurrence.The perforation occurred as a result of the patient inserting a sex toy in his rectum.Severe peritonitis was attributable to delayed presentation.CONCLUSION Vacuum-assisted closure was performed to treat the wound,which healed well after therapy.No complications were noted.

The construction of a new beamline,BL10U1,was completed at the Shanghai synchrotron radiation facility in 2020.This multipurpose beamline was designed to provide X-ray scattering techniques such as ultra-small-angle X-ray scattering(USAXS),small-angle X-ray scattering(SAXS),wide-angle X-ray scattering,and microfocus SAXS(μSAXS)for a broad user community.To realize fast time-resolved USAXS experiments,the beamline adopted an in-vacuum undulator with a total length of 1.6 m as the photon source.An in-house cryogenic-cooled double multilayer monochromator was installed to deliver a photon flux of approximately 10^(13) photons/s at a photon energy of 10 keV.The three-year successful operation of this beamline demonstrated that the monochromator operated smoothly,as expected.BL10U1 has three end stations in succession:USAXS end station,μSAXS end station,and end station for industrial applications.The minimum scattering vector q~0.0042 nm^(-1) at 10 keV can be achieved at the USAXS end station equipped with a 28 m-long and 1.8 m-diameter vacuum flight tube.At theμSAXS end station,a beam spot of less than 10×8μm was achieved for micro-SAXS experiments.In contrast,in situ experimental instruments up to 5 m high and 8 m wide can be mounted at the industrial application end station,which offers industrial scientists the opportunity to use their large industrial equipment.BL10U1 opens up a new capability to investigate phenomena such as non-equilibrium and dynamic processes of materials with a wide length scale from angstroms to micrometers with millisecond time resolution.In this paper,we also report beamline design considerations and commissioning results.

In an(hyper)elliptic curve cryptosystem,the most important operation or the most time-consuming operation is the divisor scalar multiplication which consists of a sequence of doubling(of divisor) and addition(of two divisors). Point halving algorithms for elliptic curve cryptosystem and divisor halving algorithms for genus-2 hyperelliptic curve cryptosystem had been successively put forward to take the place of doubling algorithms for speeding up(hyper)elliptic curve cryptosystem. We present an outline for an algorithm for divisor halving on genus-3 hyperelliptic curves over the binary field and give some explicit formulae for a class of genus-3 curves.Our algorithm improves previously known best doubling algorithms in most cases. A halve-and-add binary method for divisor scalar multiplications is presented.

Two signature systems based on smart cards and fingerprint features are proposed. In one signature system, the cryptographic key is stored in the smart card and is only accessible when the signer＇s extracted fingerprint features match his stored template. To resist being tampered on public channel, the user＇s message and the signed message are encrypted by the signer＇s public key and the user＇s public key, respectively. In the other signature system, the keys are generated by combining the signer＇s fingerprint features, check bits, and a rememberable key, and there are no matching process and keys stored on the smart card. Additionally, there is generally more than one public key in this system, that is, there exist some pseudo public keys except a real one.

Juels and Sudan proposed in 2002 an algorithm for computing a fuzzy vault that binds a user’s biometric template with his secret.It was suggested that this vault could be used to securely store one’s secret or a cryptographic key without losing his biometric information.However,in this classical fuzzy vault,if an attacker captures multiple vaults generated from one biometric template,he is able to obtain some biometric template information by cross-matching,and then he can use it to illegally recover the secret message.To overcome this disadvantage,in this paper,a cancelable fuzzy vault algorithm is proposed based on the user’s transformed fingerprint features which are used to generate a fuzzy vault.Our novel fuzzy vault is secure and can overcome the cross-matching attack without intensive computational complexity.Also,the use of three check values makes our vault have a much higher probability to detect a false query fingerprint template than some other vault versions,and it will highly improve the probability whether the reconstructed polynomial is correct or not.

A novel multi-dimensional scenario forecast approach which can capture the dynamic temporal-spatial interdependence relation among the outputs of multiple wind farms is proposed.In the proposed approach,support vector machine(SVM)is applied for the spot forecast of wind power generation.The probability density function(PDF)of the SVM forecast error is predicted by sparse Bayesian learning(SBL),and the spot forecast result is corrected according to the error expectation obtained.The copula function is estimated using a Gaussian copula-based dynamic conditional correlation matrix regression(DCCMR)model to describe the correlation among the errors.And the multidimensional scenario is generated with respect to the estimated marginal distributions and the copula function.Test results on three adjacent wind farms illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

《公羊》学者何休从详与略的角度对《春秋》的日月时例作了大量的阐发。何休基于二元对立的思维,对日、月、时这三个要素作两两对待,即日、月相对,日为详,月为略;月、时相对,月为详,时为略。何休从日月时的详略轻重出发,阐发蕴含其中的褒贬大义,但何休并没有采取二元对立的思维来阐明褒贬,即并不是详书日月以示褒,略书就意味着贬;其实有很多情况,日月时的详略表明的是褒、贬程度的浅深。也正因为日月时的详略在意义的阐发上具有程度上的深浅轻重等的变化关系,因此能很好地与其三世进化说相结合,从而具有王道进化的意义。而随着三世的演进,王道的逐渐实现,日月时的详略轻重的差异渐趋消弥,从而完成了它的王道进化的使命。

长江流域微塑料污染特征及生态风险评价

长江作为我国第一大河流,其流域微塑料污染状况尚未得到全面研究.为此,针对流域尺度建立微塑料综合调查评价体系,以探明长江流域微塑料空间分布与组成特征,解析其影响因素,评价其生态风险.结果表明,研究区域微塑料丰度范围为21~44 080 n·m^(-3),平均丰度为4 483 n·m^(-3).在其空间分布上,支流高于干流(赣江除外),其中岷江流域成都段是微塑料检出丰度最高的支流地区.流域微塑料尺寸集中在0~1 mm,形状以纤维和碎片为主,颜色以彩色(有色)和透明为主.进一步引入微塑料多样性指数,发现辛普森指数和香农-维纳指数均能量化流域微塑料特征组成的多样性,但二者变化趋势存在一定差别.回归分析显示,人类活动与微塑料丰度呈显著正相关(P<0.05),8种人类活动因子中民用汽车保有量和旅游收入与微塑料丰度相关性最强,说明交通运输业和旅游业是影响微塑料分布的主要因素.从微塑料的潜在生态风险指数来看,长江流域微塑料具有一定的生态风险,68.97%的区域属于Ⅲ级和Ⅳ级风险区,其中太湖微塑料生态风险应受到更为广泛地关注.
