Oestrogen ameliorates blood-brain barrier damage after experimental subarachnoid haemorrhage via the SHH pathway in male rats

Background Sex differences affect the occurrence,progression and regression of subarachnoid haemorrhage(SAH).Oestrogen plays a protective role in alleviating the vasospasm and neuronal apoptosis induced by ***,whether oestrogen affects blood‒brain barrier(BBB)integrity has not been fully *** has been found to regulate the sonic hedgehog(SHH)signalling pathway through the oestrogen receptor in gastric cancer and adrenal glands,and the SHH signalling pathway has an important role in maintaining the BBB by upregulating the expression of tight junction *** this study,we investigated the relationship between oestrogen and the SHH signalling pathway using clinical data and established an experimental SAH model to explore whether oestrogen could ameliorate BBB damage after SAH through the SHH *** Correlations between oestrogen and the SHH pathway were analysed by patients’cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)samples and the Genotype-Tissue Expression database(GTEx).Then,an experimental rat SAH model was established using the endovascular perforation method and treated with oestrogen,oestrogen inhibitors and SHH signalling pathway ***,the effects of oestrogen on BBB damage were analysed by western blot,immunofluorescence and neurobehavioural *** ESLIA detection and correlation analysis showed that oestrogen levels in patients’CSF were positively correlated with the SHH pathway,which was further verified by GTEx gene-correlation *** was found to be mainly expressed in neurons and astrocytes in rats under physiological conditions and was upregulated by oestrogen *** the SAH model,oestrogen pretreatment was found to reverse SAH-induced decreases in the SHH pathway,which were counteracted by oestrogen receptor ***,oestrogen pretreatment reduced SAH-induced BBB damage,brain oedema and neurological dysfunction,which were eliminated by SHH pathway *** In conclusion,we

Numerical modeling of fracture propagation of supercritical CO_(2)compound fracturing

An Intelligent Privacy Protection Scheme for Efficient Edge Computation Offloading in IoV

As a pivotal enabler of intelligent transportation system(ITS), Internet of vehicles(Io V) has aroused extensive attention from academia and industry. The exponential growth of computation-intensive, latency-sensitive,and privacy-aware vehicular applications in Io V result in the transformation from cloud computing to edge computing,which enables tasks to be offloaded to edge nodes(ENs) closer to vehicles for efficient execution. In ITS environment,however, due to dynamic and stochastic computation offloading requests, it is challenging to efficiently orchestrate offloading decisions for application requirements. How to accomplish complex computation offloading of vehicles while ensuring data privacy remains challenging. In this paper, we propose an intelligent computation offloading with privacy protection scheme, named COPP. In particular, an Advanced Encryption Standard-based encryption method is utilized to implement privacy protection. Furthermore, an online offloading scheme is proposed to find optimal offloading policies. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that COPP significantly outperforms benchmark schemes in the performance of both delay and energy consumption.

Dynamic Stability and Fuzzy Reliability Analysis of Toppling Perilous Rock Under Seismic Excitation

To predict the occurrence of the collapse disaster in toppling perilous rock under the action of bidirectional earthquakes,the dynamic stability and fuzzy reliability calculation method of toppling perilous rock under the action of bidirectional earthquakes is ***,the mass viscoelasticity model is used to simulate two main control surfaces of toppling perilous rock,the seismic dynamic response model and motion equation of toppling perilous rock are established based on the D'Alembert principle,and the Newmark-β method is used to solve the dynamic motion ***,the instability event of toppling perilous rock is considered a fuzzy event,the membership function expression of the stability coefficient of toppling perilous rock is determined based on the fuzzy failure criterion,the calculation equations of the toppling perilous rock dynamic stability coefficient and fuzzy reliability are established,and the fuzzy reliability evaluation method based on the probability distribution of reliability is ***,the influence of different superposition modes of seismic excitation on the fuzzy reliability of toppling perilous rock is *** calculation results of toppling perilous rock in the engineering case show that the fuzzy reliability calculated after considering the fuzzy failure criterion is reduced by 10.73% to 25.66% compared with the classical *** the bidirectional seismic excitation,the fuzzy reliability of toppling perilous rock is reduced by 5.46% to 14.89%.Compared with using the acceleration peak time encounter mode to superpose the seismic excitation,the fuzzy reliability of toppling perilous rock is reduced by 3.4% when the maximum action effect time encounter mode is adopted.

XRL-SHAP-Cache:an explainable reinforcement learning approach for intelligent edge service caching in content delivery networks

Content delivery networks(CDNs) play a pivotal role in the modern internet infrastructure by enabling efficient content delivery across diverse geographical regions. As an essential component of CDNs, the edge caching scheme directly influences the user experience by determining the caching and eviction of content on edge servers. With the emergence of 5G technology, traditional caching schemes have faced challenges in adapting to increasingly complex and dynamic network environments. Consequently, deep reinforcement learning(DRL) offers a promising solution for intelligent zero-touch network governance. However, the blackbox nature of DRL models poses challenges in understanding and making trusting decisions. In this paper,we propose an explainable reinforcement learning(XRL)-based intelligent edge service caching approach,namely XRL-SHAP-Cache, which combines DRL with an explainable artificial intelligence(XAI) technique for cache management in CDNs. Instead of focusing solely on achieving performance gains, this study introduces a novel paradigm for providing interpretable caching strategies, thereby establishing a foundation for future transparent and trustworthy edge caching solutions. Specifically, a multi-level cache scheduling framework for CDNs was formulated theoretically, with the D3QN-based caching scheme serving as the targeted interpretable model. Subsequently, by integrating Deep-SHAP into our framework, the contribution of each state input feature to the agent's Q-value output was calculated, thereby providing valuable insights into the decision-making process. Comparative analysis on microsurgical removal of craniopharyngioma via lateral supraorbital approach and standard pterional approach

Background: Craniopharyngioma is a kind of intracranial benign tumor that is primarily treated with surgery. At present, a variety of surgical approaches are used for tumor resection. We have conducted a comparative analysis of the two approaches most used in our department. Methods: The study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data from 65 patients with craniopharyngioma surgically treated by the two approaches mentioned above. Among these patients, 24 were treated by lateral supraorbital (LSO) approach and 41 by standard pterional approach. Indicators including, but not limited to, length of incision, operation time, postoperative pituitary function, urine volume, visual function improvement, and hospitalization were used to compare these two groups of patients. Results: The data shows that there was no significant difference in total tumor resection rate (P=0.54), postoperative visual field improvement (P=0.68) and postoperative function of endocrine. However, the LSO approach significantly reduced the operative incision (P=0.001), shortened the operation time (P=0.001) and operative complexity, while reducing the incidence of postoperative complications (P=0.04). Conclusions: In surgical treatment of craniopharyngioma, LSO approach has similar surgical effect with standard pterional approach, but it can significantly shorten the operation time, reduce surgical trauma and the incidence of complications. Therefore, LSO provides another alternative to surgical approach for microsurgical removal of craniopharyngioma.

Sparse Reconstructive Evidential Clustering for Multi-View Data

Although many multi-view clustering(MVC) algorithms with acceptable performances have been presented, to the best of our knowledge, nearly all of them need to be fed with the correct number of clusters. In addition, these existing algorithms create only the hard and fuzzy partitions for multi-view objects,which are often located in highly-overlapping areas of multi-view feature space. The adoption of hard and fuzzy partition ignores the ambiguity and uncertainty in the assignment of objects, likely leading to performance degradation. To address these issues, we propose a novel sparse reconstructive multi-view evidential clustering algorithm(SRMVEC). Based on a sparse reconstructive procedure, SRMVEC learns a shared affinity matrix across views, and maps multi-view objects to a 2-dimensional humanreadable chart by calculating 2 newly defined mathematical metrics for each object. From this chart, users can detect the number of clusters and select several objects existing in the dataset as cluster centers. Then, SRMVEC derives a credal partition under the framework of evidence theory, improving the fault tolerance of clustering. Ablation studies show the benefits of adopting the sparse reconstructive procedure and evidence theory. Besides,SRMVEC delivers effectiveness on benchmark datasets by outperforming some state-of-the-art methods.

Non-Deterministic Liveness-Enforcing Supervisor Tolerant to Sensor-Reading Modification Attacks

In this paper, we study the supervisory control problem of discrete event systems assuming that cyber-attacks might occur. In particular, we focus on the problem of liveness enforcement and consider a sensor-reading modification attack(SM-attack) that may disguise the occurrence of an event as that of another event by intruding sensor communication channels. To solve the problem, we introduce non-deterministic supervisors in the paper, which associate to every observed sequence a set of possible control actions offline and choose a control action from the set randomly online to control the system. Specifically, given a bounded Petri net(PN) as the reference formalism and an SMattack, an algorithm that synthesizes a liveness-enforcing nondeterministic supervisor tolerant to the SM-attack is proposed for the first time.

Comparison between modified lateral supraorbital approach and pterional approach in the surgical treatment of middle cerebral artery aneurysms

Background:The Middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysm is a common type of craniocerebral aneurysm that is prone to rupture and high mortality. The classic surgical approaches are the Pterional approach and the Lateral Supraorbital (LSO) approach, but there are shortcomings. Methods:This study retrospectively analyzed clinical and imaging data from 181 patients with MCA aneurysm clipping in the Department of Neurosurgery, First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University between 2011 and 2017. Statistical analysis using parametric and nonparametric tests showed that P values below 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: The preoperative GCS score (P=0.003), Hunt-Hess scale (P < 0.001) and the operating habits of the surgeon (P < 0.001) affected the surgeon to choose a surgical approach. The choice of two surgical methods on the operation time (P < 0.001), skin incision (P < 0.001), complications (P=0.026), tracheotomy (P=0.014), prognosis (P=0.002) were significantly different. Different surgical approaches (P=0.002), Hunt-Hess scale (P <0.001), GCS scale (P < 0.001), GCS sorse (P < 0.001), skin incision (P=0.031) and complications (P < 0.001) are closely related to the prognosis of patients. Conclusions: Modified LSO approach provides another surgical approach for MCA aneurysm clipping, while avoiding the drawbacks of the LSO approach in the clipping of MCA distal aneurysm.
